Bad or petty habits

Blue tends to let their anger build up until it explodes. They’re so afraid of expressing anger, especially once the Reaping kicks off. Blue fears that this will confirm that Joseph and Eden's Gate were right about them being the embodiment of Wrath. They try to get their anger out by following the techniques their therapist gave them or hiking, but it's difficult to do either of those things in Hope County. So, Blue settles on blowing things up with Sharky and Hurk sometimes to get their anger out.

Grudges and vendettas

Blue’s biggest grudge is against Jacob Seed. While Blue doesn't like how all the Seeds treat their colleagues, Staci's treatment strikes Blue as the worst. It also bothers Blue how Jacob sees the world so harshly, that the strong will prevail and the weak will perish. Blue isn’t about that life. They know life is good and bad, and that we all gotta help each other out when we can, especially if someone is struggling. When Jacob forces Blue to kill Eli, it essentially becomes a vendetta. They're going to kill him, one way or another. 

Regrets

Even though they’ve made a lot of friends in Hope County, Blue regrets taking the job in Hope County. They never meant to be a police officer, much less the leader of the Resistance. They should be a Park Ranger, average and ordinary in every way. Despite their regret about taking the job, Blue never tells anyone about this. They don’t want other people to feel guilty.  

Bad or petty habits

Rooney’s worst habit is that they’re awfully quiet, which means they occasionally sneak up on people and accidentally scare them. For example, they’ve scared Ken and Gabby multiple times on the Normandy, since neither usually hears Rooney entering engineering.   

Grudges and vendettas

Rooney’s main vendetta/grudge, besides the Reapers, is with the Illusive Man and Cerberus. After Akuze and finding out what Cerberus did during their hunt for Saren, Rooney thinks Cerberus needs to burn to the ground. They will never forgive them, which makes all the interactions with the Illusive Man in ME2 awkward. (I’ve talked a little bit about Rooney’s feelings on the Illusive Man here.) While working for Cerberus, Rooney does attempt to thwart them at every turn or make their job harder. For example, at the end of the Overlord DLC, Rooney sends David Archer to Grissom Academy rather than allowing Cerberus to continue experimenting.

Regrets

I’ve talked about this before, but Rooney’s biggest regret will always be the argument they had with their mother before the attack on Mindoir. A few days before the attack, Rooney and their mother had an argument about Rooney joining the Alliance. Hannah Shepard didn’t want their child to join, and Rooney wanted to join to get off Mindoir. Hannah and Rooney both said terrible things to each other and weren’t really speaking to each other before the attack. If Rooney has one regret, it is not apologizing and telling their mom that they loved her.

Look: (Nyx and Kaidan, once more, because I’m predictable--this is a conversation that happens after ME1 before they head back out for the new tour)

"We'll work it out," Kaidan said confidently. "Admittedly it will be difficult. The idea of not being able touch you just because the mood strikes me, of even having to change the way I look at you. But--" He moved and sat opposite her on the edge of the table and set his hands on either side of her neck, his thumbs stroking her jaw. "I'd do anything for you. I love you, Nyx."

(I had to add an extra one for this word ... Sharky and Tayen--while I think I’ve posted pieces of this one, it is still in my edit box.)

Sharky shook his head at her. “Nah.” Then he ran his tongue along the length of her neck, capturing a few water droplets and sparking a new marathon of goosebumps that ran down one side of her body. “I got this,” he announced, spinning his cap around backwards. The serious look on his face was too adorable not to indulge.

Stars: (A WIP for Amaryn, my Jedi Knight, and Doc)

Doc leaned in the door way, watching. He still found it fascinating—she sat cross legged, hovering a few inches above the ground. Her robes still rested upon the floor of her cabin. Amaryn always faced the window, looking out upon the stars. A soft glow emanated from her person as she communed with the Force. It was still one of the strangest single abilities he’d seen. Her ebony red hair curled down her back, blotting out the light that consumed her.

- religion was kinda weird growing up bc her moms side of the family is extremely catholic and her dads side, well her dad ‘converted’ to catholicism but her aunt and grandma on that side are pagan, Yuli’s not really religious but she leans more towards following after her paternal grandmothers faith

- even though it’s been 13 years Yuli still gets migraines from a head injury she got when Mindoir was attacked

Jaliyah Ryder

- Jaliyah got her tattoo when she was 18 on a dare from Scott,but she also knew Alec would absolutely hate it and that was 90% of the reason she did

- the twins got a puppy for their 10th birthday, a yellow lab they named Snicker who they had to give to Ellen’s sister before they left on the Hyperion, Jaliyah still misses him sometimes

- Jaliyah teases Scott about being 2 minutes older than him but he constantly teases her for being smaller than him, if he feels she’s getting too bossy he picks her up and carries her around for a while just doing normal stuff just with his sister thrown over his shoulder, the longest he’s been able to carry her around before getting kneed in the face is 13 minutes

Vireo Ryder

- Vee was never close to Alec, he was distant and not super interested in his own kids, but after he fucked up the Ryder name and basically ruined her career she hates him and resents SAM for being the reason her father was discharged, even after learning why her dad was so desperate to perfect SAM she never lets go of those angry feelings

- she tells everyone she didn’t bring anything from the milky way, but she did a prothean artifact that her team gave her as a good luck present when she had to leave, it was the first artifact they found when she joined them, Jaal is the only person she ever shows it to

7. Appetite (Avery/James, Mass Effect)

Avery’s halfway through her third reading of an article her doctor gave her about why the new synthetic DNA that had been found mixed with most humans after the end of the Reaper War had made the most popular contraceptive implants less effective when her omnitool chimes with James’ special chime.

Hazel Shepard can’t focus on anything Hackett is saying to her, his voice a constant rumble in her ear.

6. Favorite title you used?

My favorite song titles are usually song lyric titles, which would either be Say I'm not sick, but I can't get well (Mass Effect, Rooney Shepard & Irikah Krios) from Mike Shinoda’s My Shadow or Give me your heart and your soul (Resident Evil, Hunter Delaney/Albert Wesker) from Muse’s Hysteria.

10. What work was the quickest to write?

Anything less than 500 words. Those usually don’t take me too long to write. Anything over that and it takes a while. I tend to be a slow writer.

12. How many WIP’s do you have in your docs for next year?

Too many to count, lol!

17. Your favorite character to write this year?

My OCs are always fun to write! While I’ve been writing a lot of angst for them, I really enjoy writing Blue’s goofy and kind nature. Rooney is a lot of fun to write due to their straightforward yet reserved nature. And Hunter’s unrelenting rage and grief is quite different from anything else that I write.

In terms of canon characters, I really love writing Thane. I think his personality is really interesting, and he is always fun to play off of others. I also really liked writing for Irikah and I would like to revisit her in the future. (Not sure if that will happen.) I also really like writing Sharky Boshaw and Grace Armstrong from FC5. Sharky is a lot of fun (and kind of difficult) to write. While Grace is a really interesting character, who definitely didn’t get the development she deserved. Her backstory is so interesting and it’s a shame that Ubisoft didn’t do more with her.
