valentine's gift ! – sae, rin, isagi, kaiser, reo, bachira
Note: i did it with inherent Fandom but finished Jones of them beside bllk sorry I was busy preparing valentine's day for my gf. I'll post them tomorrow !!
m.list | rules
Sae has a list with all the things you once mentioned or showed him. It includes clothes, books, perfume – you name it. He’s also closely following all your new books and pieces so he doesn’t get it twice, for books only if it’s a prettier edition. He doesn’t care that you don’t like having things in double, he’ll get it. Any of this, if not all of it, along with a bouquet of your favorite flowers. He’d also love see you try the clothes he just got you
Rin prefers to offer you an experience, so maybe he’ll get you a place for an exposition or an escape game ! Something you can share with him, having pictures on your wall and good memories. That also can be going to the movie theater to see a cheesy movie so you two only laugh all along.
Isagi is more shy about it, he really doesn't want to mess it up ! He's asking his friends and even his mom for advice before offering you a homemade meal – that he did himself, with his mother's help. He thought that only chocolate would be boring, so why not enjoy a whole meal and some show you currently have going on ?
Bachira is all about handmade gifts, he's a DIY king. And his mother is always here to help him if he's stuck with something. He would make you a paper bouquet, the kind of letter or box when you open it there's pop-up hearts. He tries every year to make you chocolate but he still hasn’t found a good recipe it seems.
Kaiser is all too much, every time with gifts. He has money so why not spend it on you? He wants you to brag about it, even if he knows that's not the type of gift you cherish the most. That's why every year he takes you to a new or small restaurant, held by natives. It's really out of his new comfort zone, but so that you two can make special memories, meet new people and cultures. Because he never had the occasion to go to this kind of restaurant before, he wants to discover each of them with you.
Reo doesn't want to rely on money – well, not too much. You'll ALWAYS have a giant bouquet of roses, but he tries his best to make the rest meaningful. Yes, he'll buy you that pretty ring you saw the other day as well, and that perfume you said was too expensive. But you'll also have a handwritten, 4 page letter about how much he loves you and how you bring light to his life every day. You'll find a plushie of your favorite animal he made himself in crochet (he learned it just for you) on your bed. It's all about the implication he puts that makes it beautiful.
Let me know if you liked it !

I know Luigi is cool and hot and a nice dude and supposedly also did something incredibly based, but a huge part we never say outloud that I just wanna say now is so much of the entire Luigi fandom, and support, and upholding of Luigi as an icon is, at it's core a form of pure rebellion. Pure rebellion of the poor, the working class, and the majority who nonetheless is being crushed and ground up by a rapidly deteriorating society.
In the way that the first pride was a riot, and in many ways is a rebellion against the way society asks that we hide away, this whole cultural shift has been like a class war parade that's been going strong for three straight months now. It brings me joy.
"You're overcharging him? Fuck you, we're getting those charges thrown out. We're the jury."
"You're putting him in solitary to crush his spirits? Fuck you, we're gonna write him every day."
"You're deleting support communities, posts, and art? Fuck you, we'll spam social media so much it's impossible for you to ever delete it all."
"You're deleting his social media, photos, videos, trying to erase him from history? Fuck you, we'll back up every piece of his digital footprint."
"You're banning talking about freeing him on American apps and telling us to stay away from Chinese apps? Fuck you, we're moving entirely to Chinese apps to talk about him 24/7."
"You think it should be terrorism on par with 9/11 if CEOs get shot? Fuck you, we're gonna celebrate the date it happened every year like a national holiday."
"You guys can use billions of dollars to do whatever you want? lol so can we, we're billions of people around the world and we can crowdfund and you can't fucking stop us."
Every day, we find new ways to be spiteful to the people trying to kill, control, silence, arrest, erase, or destroy us, and it gives me strength. People have tried to destroy minorities for centuries in this god forsaken country and they never succeed. This time they picked a fight with a 99% majority and don't get why they are powerless to stop us. For the first time in my entire life, I feel proud to be an American.
They wanna crush our spirit
It just makes us stronger

This (pretend) period romance series follows the varied loves of Roman Darkmoor, the man everyone wants, and wants to kill. Our hero is a bisexual disaster on a mission to get himself off--er, offed--and everyone is dying to help him.
Happy Valentines Day! In honor of those who'd rather just read a book, we brought you a gift! Because why would you brave a date or spend money when you could be at home with a spicy novel?
Featuring fully-designed covers, familiar tropes, and an actual plot (!), the Devil series is bound to bring your Sims some joy. And it looks nice on a table--or, if you're shy, under a bed. We won't tell. Preview gifs, more info, and download below.
Like enemies to lovers? Hurt/comfort? Forbidden love? What about swordfighting? Magic? Time-travel? If any of these ring your bell, this is the fandom for you! Be braced: the forums are a warzone.
Download: Patreon (free) | SFS
All filed under Clutter or Storage > Bookshelf. The readable books can be bought from a phone or computer, just like any other book. They should also be in the catalogue, set apart by their preview style.
Starring: Etain Bishop as Juliana Lalune Frederick Duncan as Dr. Albert Sterling Fredette Duncan as Lucia del Sol David Duke as Captain Cyrus Astraean "the Traveler" as the Fairy Godmother(/father/parent) and Victor Gray as Roman Darkmoor
Some Facts About this Project:
Dez came up with this in 2022: Harlequin-style trashy novels as unique clutter. The original concept was 2 deco books. It turned into 3 deco books, a full book set, and 5 readable books. So far.
The titles are modeled after 1980s romances. Dez went through hundreds of Simlish fonts, and finally modified the title font character by character to better match the English font, Georgia.
Every bit of text in this is Xan's fault. He went overboard. Back cover blurbs, book pages, the lot. Don't let a writer do anything.
The book pages were meant to be cliche racy novel schlock, but they came out much better than expected. Oops.
We hope you like this--and that, if you do, you'll tell us. Between research, screenshots, photo-editing, font-editing, meshing, writing, testing, designing and redesigning, we spent actual, real-world months on this. And we're proud of it. But it was a lot.
Despite that, Xan is considering a semi-historical version. (Let's be real: dirty books are not a new invention.) So that might happen.

Happy @b-and-w-holiday-gift-exchange , @amtrak12 ! What I have for you is the start of a story—it would have been a more lengthy start, but work and other concerns perfect-stormed me into an unanticipated time crunch. Excuses, excuses... I know, and I regret it. However! What I don’t regret at all is how your many great ideas inspired me; you’ll see which of those I began with (tweaked a bit!), and as this gift keeps on giving, you’ll find I worked in several other possibilities as well. Here’s hoping they combine into a whole that—over time—brings you some moments of enjoyment. (Many thanks to @kla1991 , of course, for the continued heroic herding of the fandom cats.)
Court
Breakfast, Myka has lately decided, or determined, or realized, is her favorite meal of the day. The reason is not that there is lately a new person at the breakfast table, but rather...
Okay. Yes. That is the reason.
Every morning, she waits for the reason to appear, here at breakfast, to remind her: of importance, of why it (she) is her favorite. Today begins the second week of this lovely new ritual—an anniversary of sorts, one she would like to be cherishing (H.G. Wells, Agent Wells, Helena Wells, at the breakfast table every morning for two weeks!)—but instead, she is being assailed by Pete’s distracting habit of pawing through the box of Lucky Charms, extracting the marshmallows, tossing them into the air (up through which they ascend, and down through which they tumble, in seeming slow motion), and catching them on his tongue like purposeless candy snowflakes. Or not catching them, at which point he scrabbles for them on the floor.
It’s viscerally offensive. Why doesn’t Leena tell him to stop it?
Oh. Leena isn’t here. Why isn’t—
But then Myka is again distracted, and even more viscerally offended, when Artie huffs in and declares, “I need lawyers.”
“You’re being sued for excessive curmudgeonation,” Claudia says with a sigh. “Had to happen someday.”
“I’m surprised we don’t have any,” Myka says, pretending that she can ignore what she’s waiting for.
Pete misses another marshmallow. “We’ve got a doctor but no lawyers?” he asks from under the table.
Claudia raps on it, right above his head. “We’ve got no accountants either, big guy, but I never saw anybody get surprised about that.”
“A blue moon!” he exclaims as he emerges, popping it into his mouth. “Because Artie’s worse than any accountant. Plus everybody thinks we’re accountants on account of being IRS.”
“I heard what you did there,” Claudia says.
Artie snorts. “Everyone did, unfortunately. But you’ve managed to bring me to my point.”
“Score!” Pete enthuses. “Maybe.”
“Thinking,” Artie says.
Pete deflates. “Aaaand I’m out. I don’t really do that.”
“Noted,” Artie says, looking over his glasses. “And you are out. This assignment requires making people think you’re a lawyer.”
“Mykes, I bet you’re up,” Pete says.
“I was pre-law,” Myka says, but with an internal I say things like this too often twinge.
“Two lawyers,” Artie continues.
Pete deflates again. “Aaaand you’re down. Even you can’t be two lawyers.”
“Agent Wells,” Artie then says. Music, that title and name are, which is certainly more than Myka would normally think of any words Artie utters.
Pete, however, gapes: “She can?”
With exquisite, yet hardly surprising, timing, Helena sweeps in. “Of course I can.” To Claudia, she asides, “What am I claiming the ability to do?”
Myka wishes she were the one Helena would so casually tap on the shoulder for a sidebar. Speaking of lawyers.
“Be two lawyers at once,” Claudia says.
Helena shrugs. “Haven’t tried. Certainly willing to.”
“Maybe you can be yourself and your evil twin,” Claudia proposes, which wins her an interested blink, plus raise of chin, from Helena.
Artie harrumphs at Claudia. “Don’t give her ideas.” Then he makes the same noise in Helena’s direction. “Though I don’t see how we’d tell one from the other.”
Helena’s face takes on an aspect with which Myka is thrillingly familiar, a “try me” challenge; it is the expression she wore—the memory flashes to life in Myka’s head—as she stepped close, closer, closest to Myka in that office in Tamalpais, and for the briefest instant, re-breathing Helena’s breath as her own, Myka loses the present plot...
...which she knows because when her hearing retunes, Pete is saying, “Aha. How do you gay-run-tee a win?”
Helena says, “Play both sides.”
They nod knowingly at each other. Myka seethes with jealousy at their consonance.
“Nevertheless,” Helena says, “couldn’t we simply steal it?”
Myka doesn’t know what “it” is, but she’ll infer, she’ll get back on board; she just needs to make sure she doesn’t blink out into some Helena-inspired reverie again.
“That’s the evil twin talking,” Claudia says, “because you’d end up in court for a whole different reason than ‘I’ve got the legal right to this artifact!’ Myka versus ‘No, I do!’ H.G.”
“We do try to avoid running afoul of the law,” Artie mumbles.
“That’s new,” Helena says.
“To you,” Artie snarks.
Myka always wants to step in; never knows how. Everything with Artie and Helena, speaking of sides, is double-dutch... which, honestly, Myka knows nothing about except as metaphor. She tries, “But we aren’t actually lawyers. And I’m pretty sure that runs afoul of the law.”
“Save your objections for court,” Artie says, ignoring the contradiction.
It’s what Myka would have wished him to say, so she admonishes herself about gift horses, trying to push the concern from her mind.
And then she forgets to try, for Helena catches her gaze, assessing then smiling, sly, then saying a single, satiny word: “Adversaries...”
The syllables envelop Myka as if embroiling her, paradoxically, in a conspiracy.
She hadn’t thought of the situation that way, but suddenly she sees it sees it sees it—then she sees it further, sees herself and Helena free of the Warehouse, if only for the length of a trial, if only in the space of a court, existing as adversaries with stakes high but not mortal... it’s an arena in which she might fight Helena and win... or at least play to a draw, for Myka knows she is good with precedent, with bringing the previous to bear on the present... then again, applying the volumes of information always available to her can be laborious—and Helena is, among other things, quick. Objection! Myka can hear her saying, feel her leaping to say, in response to some carefully crafted question from Myka. And the judge, any judge, would be captivated, would ignore Myka’s ensuing sputter entirely, would sigh “sustained,” chin in hand, gazing.
Myka considers casting herself as the judge, rather than as the now-hapless adversary. “In my chambers, Miss Wells,” she could order. Order! (In the court!)
She clicks back in as Claudia looks from Helena to her, back to Helena, back to her, tennis match–style. “Sparks are gonna fly,” Claudia pronounces, like it’s Solomonic wisdom... and maybe it is.
This, Myka thinks—printed in words, a silent-film intertitle in her head, each word appearing as she ideates it—is going to be fantastic.
TBC
Preview of coming attractions:
Pete to Myka: Are you wearing makeup?
Myka, exasperated: I’m going to court.
Pete: Who? The judge?
Myka: What?
Pete: And you’re the word nerd... but seriously, do they judge on hotness now?
Helena, who walks in looking like a dream: I certainly hope so. [She looks Myka over.] At the very least, I relish the competition.

☾⋆⁺₊🎧✧ NCT PINK . . . 2016 - 2019
In the early days of NCT PINK, from 2016 to 2019, they were all about shaking things up with their music and "bringing something new" to Kpop.
But, you know, it wasn't all smooth sailing.
There were serious hurdles with what the public thought of them and even some drama within their own fanbase. Nctzens being dramatic online? Who's shocked.
2016: A Controversial Debut
NCT PINK made their debut in 2016 with the energetic song "BOOMBYAH," highlighting their daring style. Despite this, their introduction was met with hesitation from NCTzens, who were not keen on a female subunit in the mainly male NCT group.
Netizens would use derogatory terms to describe the members and criticize their stage outfits, sparking intense debates online. The girls were mainly picked on for their looks as their talents were undebatable, but their interesting styling choices consistently called for discussion on Twitter and fan forums.
After "BOOMBYAH," the group released "CAKE" later in the year. Despite its catchy tune, the song encountered significant criticism, with detractors disapproving of its concept and execution.
The backlash was so intense that their promotional activities abruptly ended just two weeks into the supposed month-long promotional period. This decision would prove controversial, causing PINKzens, all 27 of them, to protest the mistreatment of NCT PINK, but most of their attempts fell on deaf ears.
2017: Even More Challenges
In 2017, NCT PINK introduced "PANDORA" to mend their public perception with a more futuristic concept. However, the launch encountered a boycott from a portion of their fanbase for the previous treatment of the "CAKE" release, resulting in some of the lowest album sales in NCT history.
NCTzens will still bring up these sales in unit wars to this day. Nearly ten years later.
Later that year, "BLOW A KISS" came out. Although the song started to gain a more welcoming audience, NCTzens wrote the group off as merely imitating their male peers, labeling them as "127 wannabes."
Nonetheless, "BLOW A KISS" represented a turning point, slowly changing public opinion.
2018: Holy Shit Finally A Good Moment
The debut of "How You Like That" in 2018, under the NCT Empathy project, represented a pivotal moment for NCT PINK.
How You Like That would be the highest performing single from the Empathy project, even getting a second round of promotions after the group project concluded. It currently sits as the 3rd most viewed NCT music video at 191,251,299 views.
This was the turning point the girls had been clawing at for years. The public liked them, people wanted to see them, and they were getting brand deals instead of being shunned, winning music awards, besides just clapping in the background. They finally felt like they were a part of NCT.
Amazing year to be a PINKzen. You just had to be there.
2019: The Year No One Remembers
In 2019, NCT PINK released the songs "ROLL UP" and "UH-OH," both of which achieved commercial success.
However, the group began to focus more on involvement with other NCT units, like NCT Dream and NCT 127.
This shift resulted in internal fandom conflicts, as separate fan groups, Pinkzens, 127zens, and Dreamzens, argued over member loyalties and which unit should take precedence.
This would unknowingly set the tone for their fan dynamics for the rest of their careers.

Today is Valentine's Day, but it also marks one year since Miraculous Ladybug re-entered my life!
I discovered the show a bit before the English dub released back in 2015, watching it mainly in Korean with subtitles. It was so exciting seeing more and more people talk about this obscure little french cartoon once the dub came out!
But with increasing popularity came...other things. Art theft, harassment, young kids not really understanding how to behave in fandom spaces, and then Astruc himself replied sarcastically to a comment I'd made under one of his tweets (though in retrospect what he said was actually pretty funny). Then I had to end a really big friendship with someone I'd met because of the show, and I found myself in a weird position. Keep watching the show I loved, even though doing so made me uncomfortable due to those negative associations, or drop it entirely?
So I dropped it entirely. I put all the dolls and action figures somewhere I wouldn't be able to see them. Started a new account where I could engage with other fandoms. I stopped writing and reading Miraculous fanfic, stopped making Miraculous fanart, and forced myself to fixate on other things.
Years passed, and eventually, the thought of the show stopped making me feel so uncomfortable. I still couldn't bring myself to watch it, but I started a rewrite project, trying to fix the things I remembered not enjoying about the first two seasons of the show (which was all I'd seen at the time). I bought a couple of the new Miraculous dolls, super jealous that Kids These Days are getting so much better merch than I had when I was a fan of the show. Got some of the kwami blind bag kwami figures too, and I developed a habit of keeping one with me in my bag when I went to work.
That rewrite project never went very far, since I was hoping to do my own take on the episodes, and most of the episodes had become a distant memory by that point. In fairness, it had been like 6 years. I'd have to rewatch the show, and I still wasn't ready for that.
Then, on this day last year, something happened. I was staying at my parents house after an especially stressful work week, and I was browsing Netflix. And what would be on the front page, but Miraculous Ladybug: The Movie.
I had vivid memories of binging the show on Valentine's Day as a kid. I used to really associate the day with Marinette and Adrien, so Valentine's Day felt a bit like a nice opportunity to appreciate a ship that made me so happy.
So I watched the movie, justifying to myself that it wasn't like I was watching the show, it was just one movie and it would probably suck anyway.
But it didn't suck. It very much didn't suck. In fact, I LOVED it. It brought back so many memories, the love square was so sweet, the kwamis were such a cool idea, Hawkmoth was so fun, the akumas were so creative, Marinette and Adrien were so cute! It reminded of all the things I used to legitimately love about the show, rather than the stuff I didn't. When I was watching the movie, I wasn't thinking about that friendship that ended, or the art that got stolen. I was thinking about these kids, how much I loved them, and how much I loved their story. And I realised something that, in retrospect, should have been obvious.
It wasn't the SHOW that made me uncomfortable. It was my negative associations related to it. The show did nothing wrong, it was always fun and always made me happy. It was my bad experiences themselves that tainted it.
So I thought it over, and decided to continue the show from where I left off, even if the thought of doing so made me feel kind of sick and uncomfortable.
And I liked it. No, I didn't just like it-- I LOVED it. It was so fun?? And interesting??? And--wait oh my god is that PLOT?! Wait wait wait Marinette is overwhelmed???? I've felt like that!!! And--oh!!! Who is this Félix guy?? He's a reference to the pilot!! And he's so fun!! And Kagami? I remembered her being a boyfriend stealer but she's actually not at all and she's actually really sweet??? And Alya!!! Ride or die bestie Alya!!!
Needless to say, I couldn't stop watching after that. I binged seasons 3 and 4 in the span of I think two days, then immediately moved on to season 5, and I had a wonderful time. I was also a lot happier in general. It felt like I'd regained a part of myself that I'd lost, or rather, willingly left behind.
I know there's a lot of discourse online about whether or not the show is good, about if its even worth watching, but to me, that stuff sincerely doesn't matter. Miraculous Ladybug makes me very happy, which is why you'll never see me engage in Miraculous Ladybug salt discussions. I can critique it sometimes, but I've spent enough time looking down on this show. I'd rather love it for what it is and appreciate the joy it's always brought me.
So yes, today isn't just Valentine's Day. It's the anniversary of the day Miraculous Ladybug came back into my life, and the day I regained a piece of myself I'd long forgotten.
I loved the movie so much, I started binging Miraculous Ladybug for the first time in a long time, and I'm having a blast, so I wanted to draw something! It's actually based on a piece I drew in 2016 and then redrew in 2017. I think I've come a long way as an artist, and I'm so proud of the improvement!
Bug out!🐞

Okay so since we're about to enter 2025, I am really hoping we're gonna leave the whole "Weak-Twink-Race" thing behind in 2024.
And before you say "Oh well, Ben Cook is!" First off, do you hear yourself? Seriously, do you hear yourself? Do you hear the stereotypes of male dancers you're perpetuating? I don't really care about the character thing, it just isn't accurate, but calling the actual person a twink just sounds wrong to me? But whatever.
Secondly, you are literally wrong! Look at this man! ARE WE LOOKING AT THE SAME GUY?
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/cbd3406716ec85cb37c81ce81d6b4eae/10af62ce5305de3c-2b/s540x810/5e97b68e3c727540f3a922b3e9ca86d6017c5797.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/0686e4518b53af87a3c3b8ff914ffa0a/10af62ce5305de3c-d7/s400x600/74125f7514e85139a0bdd7655eab10985e67b19d.jpg)
Like if you're gonna say that Race is a twink and you're basing it off of Ben Cook, a pretty buff, probably really strong guy, you are literally just wrong!
He also played the character between the ages of 16-19. So that's pretty weird at the end of the day, don't you think?
And it 👏 isn't 👏 accurate 👏
This character is hauling around 50 - 100 newspapers a day! I know from experience that stacks of newspapers are fucking heavy! You gotta be strong as hell to do that literally every day! He doesn't have to be buff, but he would not be weak at all! He'd be strong and probably a really good fighter, too!
But anyways. You don't have to care about anything I just said, but maybe just think about it, y'know?
#thank you to @jackmkellys for bringing it up cause i have been ready to yell this atbthe top of my lungs for MONTHS#yknow im in a few new fandoms now so i dont really care if people get a little mad about this post tbh!#it really had to be said!#this is and HAS been weird!#it has been weird for ten years!#newsies#racetrack higgins#ben cook#rant post

Imagine if you were a gay or bi man who tried a certain firefighter show because of all the attention it was getting for one of its mains having a later in life bi awakening.....and between seasons you ventured into its fandom in search of material to tide you over til the next one. And you're greeted by a deluge of posts and fics that are just cheerfully homophobic towards one half of the newly out bi character's canon relationship on the basis of 'well he's not the RIGHT gay guy' and pushing the idea that actually its fine to cheat on him because Reasons and he's sexually predacious based on......behind the scenes implications people have divined like they're reading fucking tea leaves.
But don't get it twisted....this fandom, like all fandoms, really cares about representation!
Sorry not sorry, but we really need to kill this idea that fandoms are welcoming and inviting and inherently progressive when they're frequently insular and reductive as fuck. Every single fandom I've been in has had major trends of people doubling down on their own headcanons and fanon interpretations of the characters and willfully enacting trends aimed at running off people who like the 'wrong' characters (usually characters marginalized along one or multiple axes), like the characters in the 'wrong ways' or other bullshit.
Scott is a Bad Friend fics overtaking Teen Wolf fandom was not incidental, it was a FEATURE of the fandom, because the vast majority of that fandom did not want to share its space with anyone who had the nerve to like its main character. Survivors complaining about or criticizing the prevalance of rape fics in a certain fandom has in my experience always led to a reactionary UPTICK in those fics, with gems like 'this character can, will, must be raped' in the tags making it crystal clear that some of these fics exist because how fucking DARE anyone try and push forth a narrative not agreed upon by Fandom Main.
I could cite examples for so many other fandoms, with the commonalities always being that vast majorities in these fandoms are explicitly reacting defensively to being asked to be more mindful of fandom trends revolving around or exacerbating racism, homophobia, transphobia, rape or abuse apologia, ableism, etc....
With the most prolific fucking rallying cry across countless fandoms being "No the fuck we will NOT be doing that," because lolololol.....
Fandom is an inherently progressive space, didn't you hear?
#anyway this has been on my mind in general for a few weeks now#and its more about fandoms just being fandoms#and like....what if they werent though#these patterns migrate from one to another as fans migrate from fandom to fandom bringing their bullshit with them#like do people never get tired of just trying to call DIBS and claim fandoms for themselves while shutting out anyone else#who might have a lot to fucking offer if you werent being so gd intent on staking a claim instead of sharing perspectives#and exploring new possibilities?#and I know not everyone links certain problems with racist homophobic and other behaviors to my own issues with dark fic and rape and#abuse apologia but I do inherently see it as sharing large portions of venn diagrams even though I do not consider being a survivor to be#something that demarcates privilege in the way that axes of identity do#as its situationally based rather than inherently identity based#but the way it can affect and shape large parts of peoples' identities begets commonalities#but my point is just.....a big part of why I so often lump it in is specifically because of how people react to these things or#defend against criticism across the board#like most people know my stance on censorship and how my blood boils when its people who are throwing accusations of#censorship at those raising criticisms....#but the point is just.....think about what censorship actually IS in all practical senses of the word#its about shutting down conversations. limiting the flow of information the sharing of perspectives and experiences#THATS WHAT MAKES IT BAD#now......what about criticism inherently lends itself to any of those things if you DONT accept as a foregone conclusion that criticism#is only ever offered up in bad faith and meant as a silencing tactic#instead of just a request or offered avenue of ways for things to be done better rather than not at all?#who is ACTUALLY out here trying to shut down convos and limit possibilities?#is it really the people being critical of fandom behaviors and trends?#or the ones doubling down at the first hint of any criticism and aggressively ramping up how frequently and visibly they engage in#the criticized behaviors in efforts to drive people away or as a silencing tactic of their own?#just saying

"Talia can never be redeemed and her romance with Bruce can never come back because *falls for Grant Morrison's/DC's extreme racism towards asian and arab characters in the 2000s/2010s"
Yeah, sorry, but shut the hell up. It never fails to astound me when DC actually tries to fix the mistakes they made with Talia/the al Ghuls in general these last two decades and the fans manage to be even worse than DC by clinging to the blatant racist/sexist writing of the past instead of embracing the turn for the better.
"But she did this and that!"
She's a fictional character in a fictional universe that is aware that it goes through continuity changes/retcons. What Grant Morrison did to her character was a a complete retcon of her 30 year history and characterization with zero respect for her. Why am I supposed to take Morrison's bullshit as gospel and reject any attempts to fix her from writers who know better?
#talia al ghul#fuck grant morrison#I'm fine btw#Just not really keeping up with comics right now#It's just that not a lot of interesting stuff is going on#because apparently the DC comics fandom is forever stuck in the 2000s#And the things that annoy me...well its more or less always the same#I'm not sure if there is much new to say#The main Batman book somehow manages to be one of the worst Batman books#Once again the writer is a Tim fan who doesn't even try to be subtle about their favoritism#and fans will bring up crap from Morrison's run to justify their terrible takes even almost 20 years later#Seriously how the hell do people still manage to write edgy fanfictions about “Dick firing Tim as Robin and trying to sent him to Arkham”#Which isn't even what happened at all#Over 15 years later?#Is there really nothing else to write about???

What do you think of those who say sherliam is meaningless, proofless and purely platonic? Those that Says shippers are delusional lol
short answer, i don't
long answer,
i think people are free to interpret the characters' dynamics and relationships however they want. it's totally fine for them to not ship sherliam, but in that same way they should be fine with people shipping sherliam. i don't go around saying people who ship, for example, johnlock are delusional. how is that my business? do whatever you want! ship sherlock and william with whoever you want! i don't care! good for you! 😭
i don't rlly wanna get defensive bc i genuinely don't care about people who don't ship them, but sherliam is still the official pairing. even if their relationship is(...was) officially described as rivalry, they're still a pair and they get paired on stuffs like official illustrations, merchs etc whether you like it or not
well i'm a sherliam shipper myself so i am a bit biased lol. i feel like it's a bit hard to say they're "proofless" when they were intended to be pairs from the start and their relationship progress was integrated into the story itself
for example there are multiple instances--multiple? two instances where they're described as being "destined," which are this jump sq manga dojo post or the volume 17 synopsis (the jump sq post is an interview thing with the authors where miyoshi sensei also explained how she came up with sherliam's character designs etc, it's pretty interesting so i recommend you read it! it's in japanese, so download the pics and use machine translator to read it)
they probably weren't being straightforward about it, but assuming these implied they're soulmates: are they platonic or romantic soulmates? i don't know! how do YOU want to interpret it?
obviously they never said "hey these two are dating!" in the story so in theory sherliam aren't really 'canon,' but this is where us fans come in to make analysis/theories, fanarts, fanfics, etc! that's what makes it fun, the fact that people can come up with different interpretations! if something from the source material can only have one meaning it'd be so boring!!
fandom activities are supposed to be a hobby, something that you do for fun. if it stresses you out or makes you upset because of, say, a ship you think doesn't make sense, maybe take a step back and see where you went wrong. if you have time to call other people delusional because of a ship they like, what about using that time to talk about ships that YOU like instead?
sorry i think i'm getting all over the place 😂 but ultimately what i wanted to say is, you DON'T HAVE to talk to/about people you don't like about topics you don't care. you can ignore them and even pretend they don't exist, it's fine i promise. we're talking about fictional men, it's not that serious ≡_(ゝヽε:)ノ
curate your timeline, block/mute people, be pickier with who you interact with, and most of all, don't forget to have fun!
i'm so bad with writing in a structured way but i hope you're satisfied(??) with my answer o(〃’▽’〃)o
#saying this as a working adult who has limited time for fandom stuffs in the first place#i naturally don't wanna spend what little free time i have to get angry at people. what a waste!#i don't engage with the fandom much but from what i know we just keep having the same discourse/drama#i mean there will always be a wave of new fans and then they bring up something that was alr talked about by fans who have been here longer#and then it keeps repeating#so these kinds of thing is boring to me now#like i've seen this take multiple times the past years#that's why i don't pay attention to it anymore LMAO ENOUGHHH#you should pay attention to your friends/people who you actually like and like the same thing as you :)#(or at least people who can respect what you like)#i think it's okay if people who don't like each other don't talk to each other. you know. agree to disagree#especially if it's just about a harmless thing like ships#speaking of other ships. i like platonic bondliam (nobody asked)#ask

The same people on X who post that not partaking in the femme Louis head-canon is racist have posted that they hate when people use she/her pronouns for Lestat. And they don't care what he calls himself even though he's used she/her pronouns in the show, because he is a MAN. Surprise, surprise.
I mean, as you said, it's not exactly a surprise, anon. I sometimes wonder if some people's more aggressive behaviour in the fandom has been partially motivated by - - mm, not jealousy, perhaps, but frustration maybe over the fact that Lestat's already done in canon on the show what a lot of them want Louis to be doing (i.e. he's worn drag, used she/her pronouns, compared himself to a mother, been the unemployed, supportive spouse to a working partner, been the birthing parent of a daughter [which I say just because Louis pretty explicitly doesn't see Madeleine as one]). Things that in some people's narrow view of gender 'feminises' him - again, I don't think Lestat's all that feminine really as a character. Is he gender non-conforming? Mm, maybe? I really tend to think he's just Lestat, haha. That said, these are all things that he's canonically done already - and the fact that the show has gone there with Lestat explicitly kind of muddies the water a bit as to how you might be able to argue why the show might not have with Louis. if Louis being femme is what the show's canonically trying to get across, why haven't any of these things happened with him, given the show's clearly not afraid to go there, y'know?
I mentioned it in my posts last weekend too, but I do wonder how much of it is about trying to temper the waters ahead of s3, particularly with this holding to the idea of Louis as a gothic heroine. Again, I don't think either he or Lestat are personally (I think Claudia is a quintessential gothic heroine, and a brilliant one at that, as I've said before), but, through Anne, TVL is deeply entrenched in the female gothic as a story, and it'd be pretty impossible to deny that there are traditional gothic heroine tropes in Lestat's story - from the abuse within his father's house, to the utter lack of familial protection that sees him almost torn apart by wolves (and gosh, it's not gothic, but The Little Red Riding Hood parallels are explicitly talked about in canon - Lestat relates to her! More than once!), to Magnus terrorising him through Paris before he rapes and kills him, to Armand's tormenting obsession, to Marius' patronage that eventually sees him straight into Louis' arms and a real (albeit complicated) love story.
I do think a lot of these parts of the fandom aren't overly familiar with the books, but I think a lot of them also know enough at this point to be Aware, y'know? So in some ways it feels like - - mmm, pre-emptive action from a few people? Or, I don't know. I said it in the last post, but there is this sense of some people wanting to salt the earth of this fandom so nothing they don't like can grow, and maybe it really is just that. But anyway, yeah. Not surprised, and I'd just ignore it, anon, if you can.
#i am genuinely kind of fascinated by this like#rejection of canon for fanon though#because i definitely think that how people watch shows/movies/read books is entirely subjective#and again#i'd never want to diminish the experiences of those who see behaviours in louis that i don't as a result of their own stories and contexts#that they bring to the show#but that also should be supported by canon#or hell it doesn't have to be! just admit that it's a fanon or a headcanon!#i do that with louis being university educated haha#there's not evidence of it on the show#but you can pry the headcanon of him having gone to the hbcu new orleans university in the late 1800s out of my cold dead hands okay haha#idk#the unwillingness of people in this fandom to just let people enjoy things is wild#it all feels like its become so politicised and moralised#when really it's like#just about kink in most cases#i just - - yeah#i'm not surprised either#is what i'm saying haha#god you're making me remember a bunch of angry asks i got months ago about talking about the fact that louis was a pimp#i was like............but he ???? was ??????????????#so interesting what people choose to acknowledge

Ed stans trying to convince everyone it's problematic to think Izzy had better character development than Ed in S2 without making it about race challenge (impossible)
#every fucking time#can we invent a new name for this type of Ed stans already#I hate to implicate the rest of Ed fans who are normal#those people are literally incapable of discussing anything about Ed and Izzy without bringing racism into it where there is none#never seen them give a fuck about any other PoC character in the show#imagine thinking you're in the right when your final argument is 'it's racist to prefer a white character'#ironically every Izzy fan (and the rest of the show fans) I know has way more appreciation for Ed's character than those Ed stans#it's downright insulting to believe that Ed can't be criticised in any way because that's racist#Izzy hands#ofmd fandom critical#ofmd#ofmd s2#our flag means death

when will fnv fans realize that film adaptations of games are mostly only funsies and loosely based in canon? stop worrying about this or that being canon, and enjoy the show :) this is undeniably one of the best adaptations for any game series, and yet y'all are still finding ways to complain.
let people have fun!!! and appreciate all the work that went into making the show !!!
#i think some of yall are forgetting that a bunch of people put creative effort into this show#not to mention that it brings other people into the fandom? how can that upset you?#i have some grumbles about the show too but you have to watch things like this knowing that they are loosely based in canon#it's like watching a history documentary. you know not everything is factual but you're still watching it bc it's entertaining :)#i just feel like the show is bringing out the worst in some new vegas fans#fallout#new vegas#fallout new vegas#quinini posts

hi! for the choose violence asks: 7 and 13
Hi you!!! Thanks for stopping by ❤️
7: the character I hate not because of canon but because of how fandom acts about them ...well, this is the violence game on the getting too personal website, so I'll get a little too violently personal.
Honestly, a big part of why I stopped writing fic and ultimately left the fandom for over a decade was that I started to hate Dooku. I felt so fed up with having to justify and explain writing him as a Good Master, as a steadfast Jedi, when it felt like the much more popular version was to write him as a grimdark asshole who mainly existed to give angst and whump to Padawan Qui-Gon. (At the time, a major blorbo.) And yes, I got that the guy ultimately becomes a villain, I loved me some Sith era badness fics, but there were so few people writing in pre-prequels era/Dooku's Jedi years as it was, and that idea felt really pervasive. I say "felt." It's funny, over the years I've wondered how accurate my perceptions even were: I had great, supportive friends and a small but wonderful handful of readers, and I was writing mainly in a community of people who cared about the character as much as I did. You know, who was this mean cabal of people who I thought were judging me for not writing him evil enough in his Jedi era?? Was that real, or did I just have that perception because I was an insecure teenager uncomfortable with my own writing and projecting on it?
Over the weekend, I got Boli's kind tag in the WIP Graveyard and I looked at my old account to see about maybe pulling a snippet from my one big WIP from that era. Kind of a cute throwback post. You know, "wanna read my writing from when I was a baby Jess?!" But reading it again made me so unhappy! Not because it was bad or because of not loving my younger self enough or whatever, but that tension in how I was writing Dooku, the way that I could tell how much I was frustrated with and agonizing between how I wanted to write him and how I felt I should write him. How "the good writers" were writing him. The inconsistency all over the page. That's sounds SO dramatic but you know, it was a big deal to me at the time, and I could remember hating that feeling.
I will say now I feel totally differently. Jedi-era Dooku being a categorically good guy or bad guy is missing the point. He isn't an idea I'm defending in an essay, he's a character, he has good days and bad days, triumphs and failures, times when he gets it and times when he totally wipes out. Flaws, loves, moments of valor and moments of ugliness, contradictions, humor, rare sweetness, and above all, the strangeness that makes me love the guy.
13. Worst blorbofication Have you SEEN me with Sifo-Dyas?! My friend, I have no room to be hurling stones about blorbos from my glass house, which is itself shaped like the tragic, yet beautiful figure of Sifo-Dyas.
But probably Obi-Wan. :D I genuinely love him, but just saying... Fandom king blorbo? Probably Obi-Wan.
#and let's be fair CANON Legends Jedi Dooku was a real asshole#he's an absolute walking miserable shit in that damn legacy of the Jedi book#thanks for the ask!!!#and thanks for letting me go kind of wide with my answer I've been thinking about this all weekend#sometimes really nice people who remember me from back when are like why do you not bring your old fics over to your new account#and I think this is what makes me sad about those stories?#it's probably not a coincidence that canon providing a few sympathetic Jedi-era Dooku stories was what got me back into the fandom
