much more interesting things about pokemon that i'm going though:

after trying out pokerogue a week or so ago, i'm somehow more than halfway the whole thing. for my first pokemon-adjacent game (well, more fanmade than anything), i'm doing decently well. yeah i cheat by restarting before i die but i'm pretty sure everyone does at this point lol.

it's actually interesting that most of my opponents (as gym leaders/bad guys) are unova/kalos respectively. where is my character and why are they inbetween these two regions??

it's so much more funnier when you know that at least half my team is weak to fire. i don't know how they're surviving. team flare keeps bringing out fire types and i hate that my first gym leader was chili aka his monkey that knows incinerate. + i 'basically' died so many times to xerosic aka one (out of TWO??) of his vilillon know hurricane that somehow smashs my team and one (again out of two) of his malamar knows superpower = all but two of my team is hella weak to that move.

even more funnier that i keep oneshotting wild pokemon that i want to get. talonflame? mimikyu (which always survives the first attack but dies in the next no matter what i do)? that stupid manetric (that i found twice at least??) that oneshots ME if i give it a chance and try to catch it when it has like 5 hp left?

i feel like the game knows what xy does to me because right after surviving another flare grunt i face LYSANDRE?? of all people?? i was so lucky that i healed them all up as much as my saved up money would allow bc hrngg i hate that 7 foot man. so many deaths between him and xerosic. hate this french guys fr (the scientist is still the worst though. all he does is reinforce my fear of vilillon and malamar)

i love how i managed to sweep a whole area with my magnezone. it was a fairy cave with a bunch of fairy + water types. flash cannon + zap cannon go brr

talking about magnezone, i keep forgetting that discharge will mess up anyone else on my team in a double battle (kept killing my poor squawkabilly whose a beast with aerial ace but sucks in defence + weavile who is weak to say too many things to be alive rn and yet still tanks with triple axel and rock smash). kind of the same issue as my previous ace rillaboom, who fell from his pedestal due to wood hammer and its stupid recoil damage (i replaced it dw but he’s still very behind compared to the rest of my team). this game is really teaching me about how moves work and their viability in games as opposed to anime

anyways weavile carries my team along with magnezone, squawkabilly is largely backup if i'm stuck with fighting types (plus any pesky grass and bug), my comfort furret that used to be my real comfort sentret hold sucker punch and echoed voice just in case but is really just There lol, persian i used to really rely on when it had fake out + feint but power gem is super useful (and i hold hope that i can use pay day in excess in the future), and rillaboom has knock off (used to be really useful) and is mostly there to smash through water types. i did not choose this team, this team chose me at this point heh

honestly not doing this for competitive stuff so i don't have any qualms about refreshing the page before the game puts me at the start again, but where does everyone get their legendaries?? and how on earth did i oneshot my rival's shiny rayquaza with triple axel HELP

all in all, pretty good progress. rn around 160?? middle of nowhere. giving me major mezase vibes with the fact that i have no idea where i am. my rival is confounded as i am about oneshotting his recent team with weavil, only my bird is female, and somehow all of those fire-type moves and pokemon are just gone. and i never knew how awesome sturdy can be until my magenezone is just,, living after an earthquake. with 1 hp. and oneshots that abomasnow afterwards with flash cannon. anyways everyone should give them so much love especially since i raised it from a wee magnemite with, like, thunderwave or smth. it literally only had status moves at the start.

also how come all of my rare eggs are just starters?? in the game where all starters are already avaliable from the start?? + one shiny sneasel but AFTER i already have my main one. btw does anyone care for 3 torchics lol

For the longest time I supported and was supported by Gordon, Montoya and many more dedicated police officers who believed in the same cause as me. But I underestimated the corruption. I underestimated the depth the root of evil has reached. The officers on the top cared only about status and power, they only stick up for each other and if you didn’t comply and give up your morals, you’re harassed, isolated, driven out of the precinct. On a more serious note, typing this post made me realised how many other posts made Dick into a goofy character and even a joke.

Although I’m a sucker for fire fighter or gym teacher Dick, I recognise the potential Dick as a police officer has for storytelling, for exploring Dick’s resilience and morality as well as the harmful establishment that is the police system. I have yet to see someone explore this path with Dick either succeeding and becoming a figure similar to Gordon, or failing and having to fall back in vigilantism to make a change. Yet this possibility is rehashed as a joke, much like Dick himself.

In many more lighthearted post, he is treated as this bubbly over the top character who is poked fun at (being a cop, the Discowing, the mullet, obsession with cereal, butt jokes etc.), much like Tim is reduced to sad wet cat coffee addict. To me, Dick is a steady figure careful of each of his moves. He is a man who’s life is dedicated to hope, justice and positive change. He is a competent leader who wears a smile to reassure everyone and give them strength when heading for battle. He is a fierce protector whose anger you don’t want to be on the receiving end.

It’s fine to make him chirpier and more extravagant but to the point of becoming an almost comic relief? The JLA did not choose him and his team to fill in for them for nothing.

Yamagishi and you have been a couple for 2 months now, he is VERY proud of you and brags about you at every turn, especially Makoto, who pretends that being alone doesn't bother him (it does, it pisses him off). One day he took his Mizo Mid Gang buddies to one of your matches. Everything was going perfectly until a powerful serve from the opponent literally broke your fingers. (Poor Yamagishi almost had heart attack)

"So your boyfriend isn't a porn chick? Surprising." Said none other than Makoto, his hands in his pockets as he walked right behind the bespectacled guy who was leading his friends to the gym where the match was to take place.

"Ha!? I've said more than once that I'm in an awesome relationship. It's not my fault that stupidity is deafening your ears, idiot!" the brown-haired man replied defensively, his expression filled with determination. To which Akkun, Takuya, and Takemichi chuckled. They already knew that the boy was head over heels in love with you.

Once there, Kazushi showed them the spot where he usually sits at your games. As fate would have it, that particular corner was empty, as if it was meant just for them. "Wow, this is the first time we've been somewhere on time. You're really committed, Gishi." Akkun joked, patting his friend on the shoulder once they had each taken their seats. The boy with red glasses smirks proudly at the compliment, not at all ashamed of his feelings.

The moment the players entered the court, his gaze wandered in search of you. When he spotted you, he immediately began waving in your direction, wearing the smile of a fool in love. Unable to hide your joy, you waved back with a small wink that almost made the teenager faint. (Forgive him, the poor guy is not used to it)

The rest of the audience started cheering and clapping for the players. "YOU GET IT!! YOU'RE THE BEST!" Yamagishi shouted, jumping up and down, then did a little pirouette, pointing to his back where your team's name was written on his jacket. While Takemichi and the others quietly judged him for being probably the loudest spectator on the court.

"You'll see! My guy will make your jaw drop!" Yamagishi said confidently after he sat back down in the seat, gesturing with his hands. To which Akkun rolled his eyes playfully and said "Yeah yeah, we know... He's the best of the best, basically premium class."

"Damnn, he didn't lie....Y/N is hella cool in this shit!" Takemichi said in awe, as he watched along with everyone else as you blocked one ball after another. Even if in some situations it looked like blocking was impossible.

Meanwhile, your boyfriend kept pretending to be a cheerleader in the stands, cheering you on with all his being. Not caring about the shame of the people watching him, who probably wouldn't let him live after this match.

The moment the serve fell on the opposing team's leader, the room froze. The guy was massive and had been praised by others in the school newspapers many times. After a while, there was a bang, the ball was flying straight at you, there was nothing left for you to do except try to block. You jumped up, focused, your fingers steady and stiff, although, not made of stone to remain intact after this powerful enemy serve.

In addition to the sound of an opponent's attack being blocked and the ball hitting the ground, much to the delight of your team, there was also another sound heard... Cracking.

You sucked in a painful intake of breath and your expression twisted 180° in pain.

– Once Y/N is taken to the medical area, Yamagishi is glued to his side. He hovers, asks a million questions, and scolds Y/N for not dodging (even though that’s not how volleyball works). The nurses have to tell him to calm down multiple times. Yamagishi will definitely pout about it later. “See? If you just let me wrap you in bubble wrap like I suggested—” He pretends to be mad, but it’s just because he hates seeing Y/N in pain.

After Y/N got his fingers treated, he helps with everything. He insists on carrying Y/N’s bag, tying his shoes, and even spoon-feeding him if needed. “You could use your other hand, but why struggle when you have me?”

He tells everyone, “Yeah, my boyfriend is so badass, he broke his fingers stopping a spike that could have killed a man.” But when he’s alone with Y/N, he’s all, “Please don’t do that again, my heart can’t take it.”

Since Y/N’s dominant hand is injured, Yamagishi sees this as an opportunity to stick even closer. He insists on walking him to school, carrying his books, and even attempts (poorly) to help with homework.

This guy will text Y/N at 3 AM: "Are you okay? Does it hurt? Do you need me to fight someone?" He won’t admit it, but he definitely lost sleep over this.

Every time Y/N winces in pain, Yamagishi dramatically kisses his injured fingers, claiming, “Medical science can’t beat my love.” (Spoiler: it doesn’t heal anything, but Y/N appreciates it anyway.)

When Y/N starts rehab, Yamagishi is torn between supporting him and wanting to wrap him in cotton forever. “You better ease into it, or I swear I’ll hide your kneepads so you can’t play.”

At the end of the day, Yamagishi is equal parts dramatic, worried, and ridiculously in love. He just wants his boyfriend safe—but he also thinks you're the coolest person on earth for your dedication to volleyball.

I love her being tiny and feral. still absolutely ripped, don't get me wrong, just... on a smaller scale. also drow are canonically the shortest elves (drizzt is 5'4"/162cm), and I know women are taller than men, so she'd still be a little under average, but its more middling in menzoberranzen. and she's still above goblins and stuff. but then she joins the party and is just towered over by all these men and surface elves and she is compensating

9. shadowheart is 5'6". she is the physical embodiment of y/n. I guess this is a little short for elves, because of the gender thing, but I just cannot see her being defined as "tall" or "short". like she's short, in comparison to the other companions, but that only emphasizes their enormity because she is so perfectly average.

8. I like wyll being 5'8"/173cm or so bc he just so thoroughly embodies short king energy. think of that marcello hernandez bit where he's like short kings put in the work, not because we wanted to, but because we had to. I'm sorry but wyll is just way too kind and good at dancing to have lived his whole life over 5'9". bro is tom holland. (his dad is comfortably over six feet. this is definitely not a source of contention)

7. astarion, I think, is canonically 5'9"/175cm, which is tall for male elves, but not by a ridiculous margin. i think it fits into him being like, default-ly desirable, where he sort of fits into a lot of different relationship molds without it looking weird, because its a whole part of his character than he's conventionally attractive. like the vampire stuff is the interesting part, but without that he looks averagely, disposably pretty, which is why so many people see right through him.

6. gale is exactly one inch taller than astarion. I like him being a kind of remus-lupin tall, where he like slouches a lot and doesn't super recognize it, which is amplified by the fact that he spent the majority of his adult life exclusively around tara and a literal goddess. he doesn't really grasp the social implications.

5. lae'zel ends up around gale-height (5'10"/178cm). I know some people swear by shortzel, but I like the idea of githyanki being gangling and alien. her in-game model doesn't look like it should be that tall, but her limbs are just a bit too long. I like her walking around camp in an uncanny valley way, where she looks so clearly 5'6" until she's standing right next to you.

I picture jaheira in her prime as taylor swift with elf ears. she's just under six foot, or ~181cm. its that whole thing about presidents/authority figures tending to be taller, because people like to literally look up to their leaders for some reason. she just has that confidence. she's not like outrageously tall, and she's totally comfortable with minsc etc being taller than her, but she's just. six feet tall.

3. karlach!! is 6'2"/188cm!!! (not including horns). I've seen people say she's a little more than that, but I don't think most people are grasping how tall 6'2" is, especially if you're like fully built. like, rhea ripley is 5'7". karlach is a UNIT. anything above 6'2" is reaching freak-of-nature status, where height is like. the only thing you see when you look at them.

+ She patches you up after missions!! No one else can be trusted to tend to you. You deserve to be babied 100% and anything less than that is unacceptable in her eyes. She ends up staying with you for a couple nights checking up on you near constantly to monitor your condition. It doesn't matter if it's just a couple cuts, she's treating it like a broken leg when it comes to you.

+ With Manny's help, she begins writing you little love letters. Mostly they're innocent messages with her declaring just how cute she thinks you are and how much she loves you. Simple, yet so effective. She knows you cherish each and every one she's written.

+ A sentimentalist at heart! Aside from her coin collection, she has a stash of memorabilia from days in the past to keep the moment and the feelings associated alive. Give her a flower you casually picked from one of the bushes around the base and it'll be drying in a book under her bed so she can keep it forever.

+ When you two get into an argument, she tries to hold back her honesty but it slips out in hurtful ways more often than not. She has a problem of not working with you as a team to solve the issue; Abby views any conflict as a fight and she wants to win more than anything. When this unavoidably makes you upset, she realizes she's done wrong and takes back whatever she's said. Fortunately, arguments never last long and they without exception end with some cuddling.

The Unovan Pokémon League doesn’t exist anymore - in a region where having Pokémon & battling is illegal, there’s no point of a League. I would imagine if there were anyone Team Plasma would want to make the biggest example of is the Champion & the Elite 4. Alder is probably in some cold dungeon somewhere if he didn’t find some way to escape, same with the Elite 4 (if they didn’t go quietly).

The Gym Leaders (& somewhat the Battle Subway) are a different case - they made a very open show of defiance, arriving at the scene to support the little Hero of Truth, but many of them hold positions of leadership or public service. The Battle Subway is a main way of public transport, Skyla & the airport cargo, mail, etc, Elesa is a public figure as a model, Clay oversees many mines & construction, etc.

They probably made a decision amongst themselves to publicly surrender for the sake of the region, but somehow hold onto their Pokémon (best idea I have is maybe like catching the same species of Pokémon in the wild & handing them over instead of their own? Your face heated up, but you shot back quickly, “Please, as if I could ever ditch you lot. Lotte’s just…” You paused, trying to find the right words. “She’s different, yeah? Calm. We talk about stuff other than football, you know?”

Beth smirked. “Ah, so you’re telling us she’s your escape from us? Is that it?”

You rolled your eyes but couldn’t help laughing. “You lot are a lot to handle, okay?”

Katie nudged you, “So, what’s going on with her, then? You two seem close.”

You opened your mouth to respond, but before you could say anything, you heard a voice from behind.

“Am I interrupting something?”

You turned, and there was Lotte, standing just behind you with that calm, amused smile on her face. She must’ve come in quietly, unnoticed amidst the chaos that was your group.

Katie immediately grinned and leaned back in her chair. “Speak of the devil. Nah, not interrupting at all. In fact, we were just talking about you.”

Lotte raised an eyebrow, giving you a look that said she knew exactly what they’d been saying. “Oh? Should I be worried?”

Beth shook her head, still smirking. “Not at all. Just discussing how someone here can’t stop singing your praises.”

You groaned, playfully shoving Beth. “Ignore them. They’re being ridiculous.”

Lotte chuckled softly and slid into the empty seat beside you. “I don’t mind.”

The group exchanged knowing looks, and for a moment, the teasing stopped. It was one of those unspoken things — the kind of connection that didn’t need a loud declaration or a big show. Lotte’s presence calmed the table in an instant, her quiet energy grounding the loudness around her.

Over the next few weeks, the shift became more obvious. The team dinners and nights spent together continued, but more often than not, you found yourself sitting next to Lotte. There was something about being with her that felt natural, like the two of you balanced each other perfectly.

You felt the grin spread across your face before you could stop it. “Yeah,” you said, leaning a little closer to her. “I’d like that.”

When the rest of the team finally caught wind that you and Lotte were together, the reactions were… varied, to say the least. During a post-match dinner, Katie was the first to address it, of course.

“I didn’t see that one coming.”

Beth smirked, shaking her head. “I mean, I kind of did. They balance each other out.”

Kyra, never one to miss an opportunity to tease, grinned. “Oi, loudmouth, who knew you’d end up with the quiet one?”

But they weren’t upset — far from it. They could see that it made sense. What you had with Lotte wasn’t loud or attention-grabbing, but it was steady, grounded, and real. It was the kind of connection that didn’t need to be shouted from the rooftops. As time went on, people grew used to seeing you and Lotte together, and they began to understand why it worked. The calm and the storm, the balance between loudness and quiet strength.

She grounded you in ways you never knew you needed, and in turn, you brought a sense of fun and adventure. She’d encourage you when you needed it. It was a partnership built on mutual respect and understanding.

Justice for Jacob: Jacob Taylor Fix-It Week

From February 10-16, this blog is hosting Jacob Taylor Fix-It Week 2025 to encourage new posts and fanworks about Jacob Taylor!

Why a fix-it week instead of a general appreciation week? Because we all know his writing and storyline in canon are not great. That's where we as a fandom can step in to make things better for him!

Post about Jacob with the tag #JacobFixIt2025 during February 10-16 and we will reblog.

This does not have to be full on fanart, fanfiction, edits/gifsets, mods, etc (though these are of course beloved): even if it's a rec list of Jacob fanworks you like, bullet points of how you'd fix his storyline, or an "I think Jacob would look cool with locs" one liner post, you are welcome here.

Day 1 - Feb 10: Dossier Anything you would change about Jacob's background before we meet him in 2, be it his general background or his Galaxy or Foundation storylines.

Day 2 - Feb 11: Suicide Mission 2 is the main place people meet and form opinions on Jacob. Turn things around for him in the 2 storyline.

Day 3 - Feb 12: Loyalty Mission Racist tropes ahoy. What alternate loyalty mission would you give him?

Day 4 - Feb 13: Wartime Jacob's writing does not fare much better in 3 than 2. Imagine a different approach to the Reaper War for him.

Day 5 - Feb 14: Ships It's Valentine's Day, let's treat the man! Fix a ship of his, launch a boat with someone new, or make him some friends.

Day 6 - Feb 15: Crossovers Bring out your Wakandan Jacobs, Pokémon gym leader Jacobs, Destiny Titan Jacobs, you name it. Andromeda crossovers can come too.
