are you named after anyone? My mom's best friend and my aunt.

do you use sarcasm a lot? Sure

what sports do you play/have you played? I've played sports (volleyball, pickleball, American football, horseshoes, cornhole, baseball, basketball, etc.) for fun, but never in school or professionally.

what’s the first thing you notice about other people? their eyes

eye color? brown

scary movies or happy endings? Really not the same thing. Ones a genre, ones a trope. But I'll take dramedies or mystery. I prefer open endings.

any special talents? I can make some really interesting faces.

where were you born? Arkansas, USA

what are your hobbies? gaming, drawing (traditional and digital), looming, reading, baking every once in awhile - I want to get back into music and try out painting (I've been watching too much Bob Ross).

5 things you'll find in my writing

Nature. Beautiful, wonderful, terrible nature, of which we humans are a part. You'll get themes of human reconciliation with nature and eco-vengeance. (murder trees, angry shark avatars, environmental kelpies)

Family/Home. Found, born, and made. I write a lot about how we love each other. I also write about past abuse, trauma, and most important healing. My characters go through a lot because frankly, I have gone through a lot, and I want the kind of healing and love for them that I have worked so hard to find (and give). The worlds I write may be scary, but there is always a home, wonderful and filled with good foods and cozy spaces and family who will fight for you.

Food. Food is culture and tells us so much about people and their world. I am a (sometimes) proud American Southerner and we have a rich, complicated relationship with our amazing food culture. I could write a dissertation on South Carolina bbq (but I don't need to because there are amazing Black food scholars who already have). (Also check out Southern Foodways Alliance if that sort of thing interests you).

Magic. I write fantasy so I would be remiss not to mention magic! Magic as wonder. Magic as power. Usually, my magic is rooted in nature and humanity's reconciliation with nature, so there are elemental aspects to it.

Romance, but it's often nontraditional in some way, whether it's queer, gender non-conforming, neurodivergent, or progresses with slightly different pacing. I also love established couples who learn and grow and work through their problems on the page. Because we don't get enough of that modeled for us in real life or fiction and it shows.
