So in the Bible, the first ever murder of a human was committed against a family member out of hatred and envy, and afterward the killer denied responsibility for it and asked, "Am I [the victim]'s keeper?" And in Hazbin Hotel, the first ever murder of an angel was committed to protect family members out of love, and afterward the killer denied responsibility for it to keep the family they were defending safe, calling themselves their "keeper". Hmm.

thinking about juan being specifically written for cesare like...what do you mean rodrigo decisively having juan just for cesare? introduced in the show solely as his brother, puzzled to seek cesare's love and validation, serving the purpose of shaping cesare's destiny and being a target for his frustrations. the abel to his cain, someone cesare would never replace regardless of the resentment he felt for him. they're bound together forever by their shared blood and kinship, and the aftermath of the fratricide haunts cesare's life to such an extent that no matter how hard he tries he simply can't get rid of it...their relationship is profoundly sad in so many ways it's truly insane

Seen a lot of folks making the connection between The Amazing Digital Circus and I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream. I love that. I 100% agree. But that wasn't the first piece of lit I associated with it.
I immediately thought of No Exit by Jean-Paul Sartre.
You may be familiar with this as the play that inspired the tv show The Good Place. Three dead people are put into a room together and discover:
1) They are fundamentally incompatible and being together is torture
and
2) They cannot leave
And thus realize that being together is hell and this is their enternal punishment.
I don't know if it's just me, but the characters in TADC don't actually seem to like each other. They may be used to each other by this point, even tolerant of each other, but they certainly don't get along. None of them are "friends" in the way we would traditionally describe it.
Zooble hates everyone and wants nothing to do with any of this. Jax is a smartass who intentionally creates chaos and is mean to others because he thinks it's funny. Kinger is very unstable and one step away from losing it. Gangle is so consumed with their own emotions that they won't acknowledge anyone else's. Ragatha is the nicest of them, but even she dismisses Pomni's fears and refuses to listen. Pomni is a coward who's desperate to get out and abandons the others at the first opportunity she gets. And Caine and Bubble are.. Caine and Bubble.
These personalities don't mesh well. We don't see any big moments of solidarity or friendship between them. I don't think they hate each other, but there's no love or fondness between them either.
Are they placed in there intentionally to torment each other to madness and abstraction? Idk. I just wanted to throw the parallel out there.

Been thinking about a plausible reason why Eve didn't go into heaven. It's probably just her being the scapegoat for the whole apple situation, but what if there's more?
Something I've noticed in fics is people highlighting how little Adam and Eve knew about the real world and god's expectations, especially outside of the garden. Stuff like "they didn't understand they could die/kill" and that it was a sin to take away a human life, etc
At the risk of making Adam a huge asshole in earthly life (when I really headcanon it as him being super reverent of heavenly dictamens and the least willing to question them, which made him easy to manipulate and coddle in the afterlife), I think that as devastated as he was by the Cain + Abel tragedy, he saw god's curse on Cain as a mercy. From his POV, not only did he spare his life, he protected him from harm coming into him by marking him ("if anyone tries to harm you they'll be harmed back seven times that", God said, something like that). That he was cursed to wander, to be hated by animals and unable to grow his food was just an inevitable punishment for misbehaving.
In contrast, Eve had a more motherly view of the situation. Why was her child punished so harshly over something they didn't even know could happen, over something they weren't aware was a sin? She understands it's bad, she was destroyed by Abel's death after all, but why did God have to favour the offering of an animal life so much higher than the fruits grown from diligently working the soil and tending the trees for days and days? Why say anything at all? And if Abel was really so much more favoured, why not bring him back, why not give her two boys another chance, why take them both away over something that could've easily been avoided by an all powerful being?
I think Eve never stopped questioning heaven's handling of the situation, and in general she never stopped taking all her kid's side in life (not in defiance of heaven, but in understanding of the failings and uncertainties of human condition), and she was so willing to admit it even in from of the angels that visited them that THAT'S what landed her in hell.

You ever think Adam has nightmares about what happened with Cain and Abel? You think he blames himself for not being able to stop it? You think he believes Eve blamed him in some capacity for what happened? Maybe she did.
I think he might’ve- he just can’t actually admit it. Only time he really can is in the turmoil of his own mind.
