1. Appearance

Ida is "norwegian-like" one but I swear this model is the closest one to image in my head so she's is my personal dreamcast.

2. Fashion

In the summer season, Ida likes to wear cute dresses with bows and ribbons, and closer to autumn or winter time, Ida wears cozy warm sweaters and overalls. She has a weakness for knitwear and cute handmade jewelry, so there's no doubt that at least some of her wardrobe was handmade, by her or her close friends.

3. Choice of weapon

Mentally, Ida doesn't cope well with direct confrontation. She rarely resorts to fighting and tends to do her own thing secretly if she believes that her decision can also save the enemy. She can easily be accused of meanness, despite her desire for honesty, and her weapons are nothing more than a desperate last resort. At first glance, she's is harmless and "aesthetic girl", but she can be a dangerous opponent. Therefore, a comb poisoned with a temporarily paralyzing poison suits her personality well.

4. Flower

Ida's flower is gypsophila. Gypsophila symbolizes beauty, innocent love and childish affection. These are the few flowers that retain their shape even after withering.

When I'm not writing or studying for school, knitting is my avenue of creativity and haven of relaxation.

Having recently exhausted my resources of online knitting patterns, I decided to embark on a new journey involving some more complicated techniques. With the start of the 2024 Olympics came the creation of a knit-a-long on Discord, hosted by one of my favorite podcasters, Florence Miller of Cambridge, England. The challenge was this: to hunt down a pattern for an Olympic jumper from the ones the Norwegian ski team used during one of the winter Olympics. Each participant would knit her sweater of choice while sharing progress photos, questions, and encouragement for each other in the group chat. It was understood, of course, that we would be watching the Olympics as we knitted these garments.

I bought the yarn about a month ago. Knitpicks Pallete in Midnight heather, a mixture of navy blue and deep green spun into one scrumptious and woolly fingering weight fiber blend.

The pattern I chose is called Peace jubileumgenser (from Turin 2006 Olympics). The gauge swatch I made is pictured below along with the little progress I have made on the border.

The group chat has been lovely to converse with so far. Many of them, including one of my local fiber friends, are experienced knitters and makers from around the world.

This journey will be exciting to share with you all while learning more about writing creative nonfiction. I hope to learn from the experiences and writing adventures of my CSU colleagues as well! Happy blogging everyone!

I just like to wear the things I like, to be honest. I wear a lot of dresses and skirts during the summer, but during the Norwegian winter, I bundle up and it's mostly all about jeans and sweaters, unless I have plans to go out. Then I'll dress up in a nice dress and fleece tights!

My Favorite Retro Hedgehog Girl Media

Friend to and influenced by the Teenage Girl in her Twenties, on-and-off dating The Burnt Out Gifted Kid, and younger sister to The Frazzled English Woman, The Retro Hedgehog Girl feels she's too soft to live in this world, and that too much has happened already and that it's too late now. She's just another lost, directionless, broke twentysomething with a million passions who couldn't imagine picking one thing to do every single day for the next 50 years. Sometimes she picks fights with people she cares about, though she doesn't know why. She's prideful, irritable, and has a quick temper. She lashes out when she feels hurt or abandoned or insecure and immediately regrets it but doesn't know how to fix it.

During the week, she lives in secondhand loafers and wrap dresses, and, in the bitter winters, always wears the same worn but reliable, hand-me-down, old-fashioned coat inherited from an estranged relative. When she doesn't have work, she wears jeans, an oversize sweater and the converse she's had since high school. She sometimes romanticizes her life by poking fun at the way she always spends her dead-end, minimum wage job's paycheck on things she doesn't need, but she knows she has a real problem. She loves to shop so she has an excuse to leave her house and be around other people without it being too obvious.

She craves excitement and passion and experiences, she wants to go everywhere and do everything and be everyone. She dreads the though of living a quite life forever. She's terrified of spending the rest of her life feeling this way. She wants to be okay on her own, but thinks its impossible.

Just Crafty Enough - We Winter Woolens - Norwegian Mitt

My idea to do a tiny sweater failed. I knew that other pattern had bad cables, but I tried it anyway. *sigh*

So now, in new adventures in masochistic knitting, I’m making ONE bitty mitten: this pattern but all white (skipping color work), size US-000 (1.5mm) needles, and crochet thread. Idk the sizing on crochet thread, but it says “20″ on the label?

I probably went too small, but I really wanna give it a try. If it works, I’ll embroider a red heart outline on one side, and turn it into an ornament. Hell, I’m probably jinxing it just by making a post.

Edit: Yep, sure did. I got to round 12 and realized I dropped a stitch... which laddered back to the beginning row. Frogged it all, giving up on that for the night. I have other things to knit in the meantime. *sigh*

Sometimes I think about drawing characters doing stuff that's norwegian ig (aka just stuff I've done at some point in my life).

Like hiking up a mountain in fleece or wool clothing, wearing a marius sweater, going out recycling empty bottles, wearing bunad, watching the northern lights, dog sledding, regular sledding, skiing, snowboarding, using a kicksled or walking with spikes on your shoes to avoid sliding around on the ice, doing any of those winter activities in either coveralls or in a winter jacket + winter pants, going on a midnight stroll while the midnight sun is out, going on an afternoon stroll while the moon keeps occupying the sky, etc.

Maybe I'll do it at some point. Maybe maybe.
