Nicolas mostly ignored the ceremony. He'd seen this song-and-dance a dozen times before. The ritual, the droning on about which laws had been broken, the grim pomp of it. It was more fake than the theater performances. He made something of a game for himself by making a little noise every time Armand said something he knew to be false, or exaggerated. A little cough, a shuffle of his foot, a creak of the floorboards. It wasn't too obvious, though he hoped it annoyed the little self-styled Lord.

For a moment, when the flames rose and the poor sod was burned alive, all the boredom and sarcasm fell away from Nicolas' face and he simply looked...blank. Distant. Even after all these years, the scent and sight and sound of a pyre yanked him out of the present. When he came back to himself, the others had wandered off in their own ways, and only one vampire was left. The bleached-blond one, the ash pile's fledgling. "A fine welcome, don't you think?" he asked drily. "I bet you feel like family now, seeing that."

This is the most complicated one. Anna + Hans is actually a "lovers to enemies", but I think it still counts for the comparison.

Elsa + Disa is the most obvious. Although Disa has a certain interest in Elsa from the beginning, their relationship is full of acidic comments and distrust, especially on Elsa's part. But in the final episodes of the podcast things start to get more interesting, like the moment Elsa creates a telescope for Disa, remembering when the black woman said that when she was a child, the way they agree to meet before Elsa returns to Enchanted florest. And especially Disa asking Elsa out on a date... a friends date... I think. And the ending where Anna makes Elsa's presence a special surprise for Disa.... If Elsa and Honeymaren aren't canon at this point I bet something happened between Elsa and Disa.

Ideas and feedback welcome.#The core idea behind this AU is that LWJ goes to study with the Yunmeng Jiang sect instead of JC and WWX going to Cloud Recess #But why? Well I imagine Lan Xichen set it up to give LWJ a challenge (more social than skill based) and LWJ rose to it (begrudgingly)#Sort of a 'You've mastered so many Lan techniques but Other Sects have styles that are worth learning.' set up.#Lan Qiren agrees mostly on the basis that...well it's LWJ. Yunmeng Jiang is unruly but LWJ is beyond that riff-raff. He'll rise above it.#This is the story of a boy who thrives on routine and rules spending time in a place that is his apparent antithesis.#Also it is so warm there. He is used to it being cold and what do you MEAN just take off some of my layers?#I just want to see him struggle and flail in many situations. And get him in Jiang Purple. A little 15 min doodle but first post of the year has to be Bingqiu!

#ok its time to get mushy in the tags because I doubt anyone would read them too closely #I’ve had severe art block for YEARS before I got into danmei in 2024 #and it wasn’t that my skill was gone it’s just that I thought nothing I did was good enough #I started reading danmei around the summer of last year and I got SO INSPIRED #I dived into the fandom side of things (I haven’t been in a live fandom in years) and was so excited about all the art people were making #and writing! and music! and animatics!#everything was so bright and colorful and beautiful #and everyone had such cool designs for these book characters that I’d grown to love #so I took a chance and doodled a little Luo Binghe and posted him on here #and I was so taken aback by how welcoming and sweet the fandom was #it made me wanna keep taking chances and posting my art— because I think that’s one of the hardest things I’ve come to accept #that even if it’s not good enough for me #someone else may enjoy it #and ain’t it crazy that ive come to enjoy drawing again too #sure the interaction has been fun but it’s been even more fun experimenting with my style and experimenting with colors and rendering #and grayscale and angles #and composition and expressions #ahh!! art is so fun!!
