Unji and Officer Bega face the same problem in different ways. Just like Unji, Bega has lost everything because of the evil in society, but they were at different points in life, so their response to this trauma is very different. Unji's instinct was to destroy the world, and that's what he tried to do. Bega's instinct was also the same, to destroy, but his love for his daughter held him back. He knows destruction isn't the way to fix things, that's why he's starting with Unji. They have the same fire, they just need to know how to control it and build up the good in the world, since evil will always be present.

Friday was my last day at Valve.

Leaving a job full of people and projects you love is always hard, but I have a pretty good reason for it this time around:

Next Monday is my first day at Cyan.

Feels appropriate to announce this on Riven's anniversary, the game that is entirely to blame for who I am as a concept artist and Art Director. WHO WOULD I EVEN BE if I hadn't had my 11yo mind blown by the little wahrk gallows counting toy in the Rivenese schoolhouse??? It's a mystery.

I can’t talk about what's on the horizon just yet—short of helping to get Riven out the door—but I’m thrilled to finally be a part of this studio, officially, after thirty years of wistful pining. If my ancient Riven fanart is anything to go by, it's been a long time comin.'😎

Ah damn. Here came what Dustine thought was going to be the hard part still unaware of all that Lark went through. How could he guess though? To him, disappearing for a few days was completely normal, and they had only just started dating really. Lark’s silence was a bit worrisome though, but he chaulked it up to awkwardness over the last time he had been here.

“Uh…yeah. I gots a job. Not a very long one mind ya, them’s are just hopin’ fer a special fish and tis the season fer them so it shouldn’t be too long ta meet the count.” He begins. “Meybe a week. Two weeks at most.”

As he speaks he fiddles with the kettle, pulling a cup down and looking at his cabinet. Could cats have hot chocolate? Lark wasn’t the normal type of cat so…maybe? Better stick with tea to be sure.

“I….I had really wanted ta see ya before I left.” He continues, pouring hot water over a tea bag and bringing the cup over to the table. He sets it down, thinking for a moment. “I…you could come with me. If ya like. It’d be just us.”

“Ya can be allowed ta walk when yer toes aren’t as naked babe on birthin’ day.” Dustine retorts, arms tightening around Lark for a moment when his cheek is kissed before he tilts his head to rest it on top of Lark’s. A brief snuggle before they got on the ship. He did notice Lark shifting but he didn’t falter even when his claws dug into his skin. He had been through far worse than a few pricks after all.

Stepping into the small quarters once they had reached Lost Paradise, Dustine sets Lark down on the couch and grabbed a blanket to wrap around him. “There, now ya be right toasty.”

He straightens up, shuffling towards the kitchen to put on a kettle. Something warm to drink should be nice. The task certainly helped get his mind off of some of the thoughts churning in his head.

Still, there was one that couldn’t quite leave him. “I…I uh…I missed ya Lark. I uh…I was worried I wasn’t gonna be able ta see ya before I had ta head out.”
