I think the MHA fandom would be so much better if people stopped being upset by the fact that others like the villains. Accept the fact that someone is gonna have different taste and will like characters you don't. Everyone is different. People have liked villains since the beginning of time. It does not mean they condone what they do. It's a story, a work of fiction.

Oh and when you see someone worried about their favorite dying don't comment on how horrible they are or that they deserve it. Can we not be considerate . If I see someone loving a character I hate it doesn't phase me. I keep scrolling. Never have I thought "Oh I need to tell them they are wrong"

TENKO SHIMURA DESERVES THE WORLD

Bakugou, while not "tortured" like other characters, was - like those other characters - a product of his environment.

He was a literal child who said and did shitty things because he was arrogant and self absorbed and deeply, deeply insecure. He felt confused and threatened and he didn't know how to handle those feelings. He defaulted to anger and arrogance because that's what he knew and was comfortable with - and that was repeatedly excused or even encouraged by the adults in his life.

We're literally told in chapter one that (while still largely excused) his behavior is unusually extreme. We START at his absolute worst moment (in middle school!) and watch him struggle to untangle his mess and improve from there.

And he faced real world consequences, some of which were off the charts disproportionate! (like being muzzled and restrained in front of a national audience, or you know, kidnapped and nearly killed by adult villains and feeling personally responsible for the end of his personal hero) but his "victim" never showed him anything but grace, understanding, and admiration.

Then, still a child, he came to realize - mostly on his own - that he had been wrong, that his behavior was shitty and unjustified, and he wanted to change. And he stuck to that, making great effort to atone with his actions and then very publicly verbally owning up to what he'd done and apologizing as well.

And he was very clear in that he did not expect to be forgiven or for them to be as close as they used to be. His only concern was undoing damage he'd contributed to, being a better hero and friend, and protecting the life and happiness of someone he cared about.

Endeavor was a grown ass man with an obsession who emotionally and physically abused his wife and children until his past literally came back to bite him in the ass. It took him his whole adult life to realize he was wrong. Not even the violent death of his son or his wife literally losing her mind was enough.

He was pushed into change by the sudden pressure and spotlight of being the #1 hero and his children's unhidden disgust and contempt that he could no longer ignore.

And yes he also made a continuous effort to change, but he had a LOT more to make up for and right alongside that he expected this effort to be met with a perfect happy ending and "being a family again" until the past once again refused to go quietly into the night.

Kind of comparing apples and oranges, and being mad that the oranges aren't pineapples, no?

Can you stop with the with the whole “bully secretly loves his victim,” BS with Bakugou?

Bakugou shouldn’t have never gotten a redemption arc.

His redemption arc is crap compared to Endeavor’s.

Bakugo is worse than Shigaraki. Shigaraki was a tortured character.

Dabi was a tortured character,

Toga was a tortured character.

Bakugo was a a butthurt spoiled brat who had everything handed to him and threw a fit when he wasn’t getting his way and tortured and blamed Deku for everything.

With the Series Ending

I decided to do this solely based on canon, except for F which are so bad that they transcend the rule. I also put this in the lens of do I enjoy watching them, or do they infuriate me. Most of the ones in G are there because I can't tell who they are from the picture, or are so minor I don't get why they were on the list to begin with

Hawks was the hardest to place because as I've mentioned before I love villain fanon Hawks, and hate Canon for all the missed potential and the guy being shit.

Before the last arc, Deku would have been in C, and I felt most criticisms of him were undeserved. I still feel a lot of them are dumb, however, he's canonically a hypocritical, suck-up to labels, abuse apologist, idiot, etc. As much as it feels like character assassination it's canon, same with Shoji. I also just don't care to read fanfiction of him, and feel he takes a lot of roles where other characters would make more sense. If I'm not already following someone I'm not going to read fanfiction with him in it

Most of E I hate as much if not more than F but the fandom either doesn't write about, or treat them like the pieces of crap they are, looking at Mineta of course.

Fun fact Edgeshot is in E for bringing Bakugo back, and causing me both meta and dramatic issues for me. What the fuck was the point of killing Bakugo to immediately bring him back. How the fuck did Edgeshot know he could do this? How the fuck did he know how to do this? Why the fuck is he doing this for some random teenager he has never interacted with before, in the middle of a war? And now why the fuck does this fucker get to live, no one gave a single fuck about Edgeshot but he gets to live!

Uraraka owes her rank in B for her arc with Toga, otherwise, she would have been in D. For the plot forgoing her original motivations so they could turn her into a generic love interest. Toga tried talking crushes with her 'twice' everything else regarding that shit, which started before they ever met, is on her

I actually love Endeavor fanfics as most of them either a treat his abuse for what it is, or b I view them as an own on canon Endeavor and his incredible laziness and selfishness. But Twitter exists and they flock to him and his bullshit so to F with him.

Speaking of Fs, Bakugo is a whiney spoiled rotten brat with a silver spoon shoved into his mouth since birth. I hope he never breeds. Damn near every shit thing that has happened to him, was either brought on by himself, literally applied to everyone, he literally doesn't care, and even with the two exceptions I'd give this, the Sludge guy, and being chained up at the sports fest (he should have been disqualified), do not justify his shit

Needless to say I love villains, Dabi is by far my favourite, followed by Himiko, they are way more engaging and convincing than the heroes. And by convincing I mean it actually feels like they are going to put in effort to make their goals happen, not just wish really hard. I truly wish we could have seen how Shigaraki's goals shifted during his reign over the PLF. We had already seen how he wanted the League to be happy and an exception to his goal of destruction

I’m also surprised at the whole thing with Endeavor’s career being “over” and him “taking the fall for Dabi” or whatever.

Guys.

THE MAN HAS KILLED ALL FOR ONE.

He lost his dominant arm to defeat the nation’s worst villain. He’s a war veteran who saved the country. “Dabi” is old news - it’s been a while since the reveal, and the whole time, as soon as he got out of the hospital, Endeavor has been fighting. Logically, he should be at the peak of his clout! He did something even All Might was not able to do. There is no way in hell, after removing the biggest stressor in every person’s life, he would still be dragged by most people for his past behavior. Especially given that he never denied his wrongdoings and has shown remorse. To a regular person, the very sight of Endeavor should bring relief, just like the sight of All Might used to. You know the man will sacrifice a limb to save you and risk his life - because he’s done that before.

Additionally, after All for One confessed to taking Touya and messing with his body, it should be clear that he had his hand in the making of Dabi. Endeavor didn’t make his (adult) son “kill 30 innocent people” any more than Shigaraki’s dad made him ruin cities and decay heroes.

Last but not least, Endeavor is a big-time dilf.

Yes, it sounds super unserious, but think about real-life media, the public, and fame. He’s a tall, good-looking, physically fit man with a sexy job, unusual hair color and rare eye color who wears a skintight outfit and has a powerful, impressive-looking quirk. When a famous person is attractive, they get away with shit a lot more easily.

Look at real-life MHA fans: who’s simping for ReDestro? No one. Now who’s simping for Dabi? Everyone.

This really isn’t reflected well in the manga or anime, Endeavor is depicted like some scary guy people avoid, but if you look at how real people behave, that’s not realistic. There would be simps galore, apologists, fans chasing him asking for stupid shit like “please yell at me,” “I want to have your babies,” or “please set me on fire,” people flashing him their boobs, people selling and buying Endeavor body pillows, accounts with pictures of his ass, etc. All this shit would only get more intense after the defeat of AFO and would contribute to Endeavor’s public approval score.

So no, I don’t think there’s a big scandal or that it makes sense for him to retire for something other than health or personal convictions.

Something I noticed about the villain haters.

So I keep seeing all those posts that say Shigaraki, Dabi and Toga need to die, can't be redeemed or saved etc. Well I noticed alot of those same people are waiting for Stain to join the heroes or save All Might, umm excuses me but Stain has killed lots of people to so what makes it OK for him and not 3 of the main characters. Is it, perhaps, because they like his character so that makes it OK. And they don't like the League.

OMG "dehumanizing". Brrr

Ever since I entered MHA fandom I dreaded that word, because only this fandom (that I know) uses "dehumanizing" which in any other fandom (that I know) means extreme violation of human rights but in MHA fandom means "how dare they called my meow meow villain out of their shit". Ochako called Toga that her action has consequences and the fact that maybe her unclear question was not worth murdering (or hurting to give a benefit of the doubt) an innocent old lady? "Ochako dehumanized Toga/ she didn't see Toga as a person reee". Endeavor saw Dabi as his responsibility, his mistake, the exact way Dabi described himself to Endeavor? "Endeavor only saw Dabi as a thing, he dehumanized Dabi". Hawks outright called Twice a good person, saying that he had a better chance for atonement than his other murderous friends? I understand why Twice can't accept that offer but Hawks is not dehumanizing villains for that? Calling villains who planned to wreck everything as "unkind" is not dehumanizing? I can understand a little when Shigaraki had a monologue about rotten society and Endeavor said "thanks for the monologue but you are already dead" may be dehumanizing but context please? Shigaraki destroyed dozen people's lives with a single touch as if they were ants. And Hori made it clear that those people are not ants or mindless NPC, they're humans! A guy has an important document that was so important for his work, for his life! A bleeding guy begged for his wife's safety! A woman tried to lift concrete to save her beloved one! A kid was crying, outright yelling that her brother's life is so much important to her than a beloved merchandise that her brother offered to her before his death, an utterly heartbreaking conversation that no children should have! Shigaraki and LOV outright dehumanized them, lumped them as one big blob of "society that deserves to rot". For me it's understandable if those victims, and heroes who fought for their safety, prefer if Shigaraki's heart was as stopped as minutes before.

Speaking about dehumanizing, one baffled moment that seared into my brain forever was when a meta said that Hawks dehumanized Dabi because he... told Tokoyami that Dabi's monologue is a way to stall time and he searched a chance for Tokoyami to make an escape. The offense? They said that Hawks didn't listen to Dabi's "valid" points and had "dehumanizing observations" of Dabi. THAT MAN IS ON A FREAKING BRINK OF DEATH WITH HIS KID INTERN IN THE MIDDLE OF DEADLY AREA WTF WTF WTF. Since when being logical in a dangerous situation is dehumanizing?? Oh right, forget it, they called Hawks who yelled at Endeavor to focus on his fight with big boss AFO and not fall for AFO's clear manipulation tactic as "abuse apologist" so they clearly are not the biggest fan of logic. And the same guy had a gall to be offended when someone condemned Dabi for calling Twice's murder video a good footage, saying that he masked his grief (I mean, maybe I am too harsh but that's a truly dehumanizing thing? Just as dehumanizing as Youtuber today who saw tragedy and capture it instead of helping or even just saw it as entertainment?). That's the point I know that villain stan in this fandom is a lost cause

Ughhh yes yes yes! It really does feel like we're taking crazy pills when we try to reason with these outrageously irrational takes, isn't it? I've ranted about them A LOT in this blog but they never fail to make me wanna tear my hair out with frustration and bewilderment.

Hori's overly sympathetic writing for the villains made me dislike them and made me struggle to feel sympathy for them, but it was the gross hypocrisy and stupidity of the villain's stans that made me this 👌 close to fully hating the villains and losing all sympathy for them.

Personal Rant

Trigger Warnings: Mentions of All Categories of Abuse, Trauma Dumping on a Massive Scale, Endeavour Slander

I really really hate him. This hate was originally held against him for Shoto, because I used to not be so fond of Dabi- Thought he was very bland. But, ever since his reveals and I got to know him, I got attached to him.

Not only that, I see a lot of similarities between us.

My dad beat my mom, babytrapped her, financially trapped her, manipulated her, gaslit her. My dad beat my brother, manipulated my brother and myself. When my brother was born my dad basically forgot about me.

Why is it that if/when I talk about my dad, I always get a lot of support, and people always bring up "Oh wow yea what an asshole." But when Endeavour is brought up, or Dabi, suddenly it's, "Well Enji is trying his best," and "Dabi shouldn't have done this, that and the third". Is it because of myself being female presenting? Is it because Dabi is a villain? I actually think, in another time line, I could have ended up exactly like Dabi.

And you know what? I don't mind that thought one bit. What I would give to see my father set ablaze by his past sins-

Just like Enji however, my dad tried reaching out and asking for a relationship with me.

But unlike Natsuo and Fuyumi, I held him accountable. I told my dad straight out, "I will give you a chance, if you apologise."

Guess what he wouldn't do?

Guess what Enji still hasn't done?

Not once has he said "I'm sorry." Only ever after becoming a pro and being in the spot light does he want to "atone" for what he's done- That alone rubs me the wrong way. My dad was an upstanding citizen too, went to work and did his job, ran his business, and just like Enji, he came home to beat his wife and kids.

Don't you find it odd that Natsuo got really fucking worried for his mother when he found out Enji was just dropping off flowers?

Don't you find it odd people continue to victim blame Rei for having a literal mental breakdown? When she hurt Shoto, she didn't see Shoto.

She saw Enji.

When Touya left home and Rei tried stopping him, she froze when he looked at her, because those were Enji's eyes.

It's odd to me that no one gives two fucks that Enji babytrapped Rei, financially trapped Rei, continues to Stockholm her into loving him, etc.

And even at this massive plot point, he has yet to say "I'm sorry. I love you."

Not, "I'm sorry you feel that way," or, "I'm sorry but," No. No no no, that's not how you apologise.

"I'm sorry for what I did to you. I was wrong. I love you."

That's all he has to say, but he won't, you know why? Because he doesn't truly believe that.

So when people say "He's changing" and "He's getting better", from my own personal experience, I find that very hard to believe.

My apologies if this rant is a little bit- All over the place. With recent manga leaks and people still being Endeavour apologists, I just had to put this in a coherent post for all to see.

I hate my father. I hate Endeavour. I hate Endeavour Apologists. I hate Rei Haters. I hate Heroes.
