i want to talk about the paradox prism for a minute because it's really interesting to me
[everything below is purely speculation / headcanon - please don't mistake it for canon. beware of spoilers for sonic prime part 3]
similar to the master/chaos emeralds, the paradox prism has a level a sentience. not anywhere close to the same level as the emeralds, but there's still something there
the chaos emeralds tend to set up a line of dominos to cause a future event (ex; sonic taking tails under his wing and learning to become more responsible from it)
the paradox prism doesn't do anything close to that, but it does share something with the master emerald; it holds memories
the prism was able to create more versions of the people it saw based on the emotions it saw them project (tails, knuckles, amy, rouge, and eggman)
the different shards / shatterspaces are made up from other major events. whether from this timeline or another is different for each shatterspace
new yoke was created from the group's frustration with sonic + an ending where eggman's almost won (i believe this could be pulled from the events of forces, considering the enforcers)
i think the reason new yoke is the only shatterspace to have a version of eggman is because it's the only one that makes sense to have one
it's pretty well known by now that eggman will need a helping hand if he wants any chance at taking over the world
the only thing better than an evil genius is five evil geniuses, right?
the new yoke group are, as i said, everyone's frustration
nine is frustrated with his past. reminiscing about his tormentors brings him more anger than pain, and living in solitude definitely does not help
rebel and knux are frustrated by the loss of their home (and the egg council in general). having watched their home be destroyed was more heartbreaking than anything at first, it eventually grew to an anger that spurred them on to fix it
rusty is frustrated with those who disobey/fight against the council, but her anger eventually ends up directed towards the council for the way they used her.
i could go more in depth about the new yoke group, but this post is gonna be long enough as is wefoefwof
the shard being red could simply be because that's the color that represents anger, but i'd like to think that-going back to forces-it was a bit influenced by the phantom ruby/infinite as well
no place is formed by the underlying sadness + a devastating event that permanently changed the world (chaos' rampage)
im not connecting no place to chaos because of the fact it's flooded, im connecting it because of the way the stories parallelled
chaos' rampage begun when pachacamac attempted to steal and harness the power of the chaos emeralds for his own gain
dread seeks out the 'devil's ligthouse' solely to prove he is a legend, nearly killing his original crew trying to do so
both protagonists of these stories are selfish and caused destruction for their own gain
dread's, well, dread comes from his failure of proving himself to be the most feared pirate to ever live.
him failing to collect the shard caused him to believe that he truly wasn't a good pirate, leaving him to spiral into a life of cowardice.
the rest of the pirates' dread comes from their longing to be actual pirates.
because of his failure and cowardice, dread now leads a peaceful crew. they don't do any 'pirating', which leaves much to be desired
they enjoy the parties and all, but their true fun comes from being pirates, which dread deprives them of
boscage maze comes from the protectiveness surging between everyone + a world where harmony between enemies is possible to achieve (possibly comes from a timeline where eggman simply doesnt exist, leaving mobius to grow peacefully)
boscage is the shatterspace with the most life. it's full of all kinds of plants because nobody there is destroying it (intentionally, anyways)
thorn rose is protective over birdie and the green. she does what she can to protect both, even if it means hurting people she once called friends
keeping the jungle and birdie safe is her #1 priority, and nothing will ever change that (that's not to say something else can't join them in being her priority)
the scavengers are protective over their belongings and, no matter how strangely they show it, each other
gnarly was nervous when sonic touched his house, immediately turning aggressive to make sure he wouldn't damage it
instead of hiding the berry, prim showed it to the others for a chance they could all share it
instead of running off on his own, mangey let the scavengers follow him as he sniffed out the berry (+ him fetching the one that fell off the treetops, showing it off to the group)
hangry allows mangey to crawl around him, which we can assume means it happens a lot off screen as well
they stick together and cover each other's backs, no matter how hard the fight gets
while we don't know what this shatterspace was before it turned into the grim, it's pretty safe to assume that it was apocalyptic
who or whatever used to live here is long gone. the only thing standing are the purple crystal things.
my guess is it's a timeline where eggman won. he won, and the world died out because he ruined the ecosystem from building so many machines.
while purple is usually associated with royalty or mystery, it's also associated with power, ambition, peace, and independence
whatever happened to the world before the grim, it's very probable that it was out of high ambition with a need for more power. eventually, the world found its peace and is now independent
ghost hill is the blueprint. the time before sonic & co. make their mark on the world. a blank canvas.
maybe a timeline where they don't get a chance to make their mark on the world
yellow is a very light, energetic color. the feeling of happiness at the chance to create something new and fun.
ghost hill and the grim don't have much in terms of characters and design, but i think the colors of their respective shards give us plenty of information about them
the paradox prism is nothing like the chaos emeralds, but is also just like them at the same time. it's powered by pure chaos with no sort of indication on how it was created or why it has the powers it does
i wonder if eggman knew what the prism was exactly or if he only knew that it was powerful
did he know breaking it would cause the world to shatter? did he know how may memories it holds? how many lifetimes it's lived?
i also wonder if the prism knew sonic would shatter it, and that it was already preparing the shatterspaces; hence why it glows brighter
maybe it understood that sonic is a hands-on learner. maybe it knew he needed to experience the lessons first hand, needed them to-quite literally-slap him in the face
maybe it knew they all had their own flaws that they needed to be aware of. maybe it lived through the timeline where sonic never shattered the prism.
maybe the prism planned to be shattered by someone so it could share its memories. maybe there was some sort of pull that told sonic it needed to be shattered.
#long post#this might actually be a mix of me analyzing the prism and the shatterspaces#but thats fine#this world is very interesting to me#sonic the hedgehog#sth#miles tails prower#sonic#knuckles the echidna#amy rose#rouge the bat#dr eggman#sonic prime spoilers#sonic prime#paradox prism#myyhcs#world building my beloved#miles nine prower#rusty rose#renegade knucks#rebel rouge#knuckles the dread#batton rouge#sails the fox#black rose#thorn rose#prim rouge#mangey tails#gnarly knuckles#hangry the cat

Sydney's polka dots and Yayoi Kusama
I wrote about it a little bit here, in a reblog of @thoughtfulchaos773's really excellent post (and ongoing thread) about Carmy's polka dots in his sauce but I have wondered since my first watch of S3, if there is some reference in all of the polka dots (Sydney's except for Carmy's sauce) to the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama.
Pumpkins and Fruits (1993)
Kusama is an artist who works in a number of mediums, including sculpting and painting, but who is primarily known for her works featuring polka dots, both paintings as well as installations of polka dots in mirrored rooms (as well as even live art installations with naked people painted with polka dots).
There's two threads in her art that I think are particularly interesting, if all of Sydney's polka dots are at all referential to Kusama's work: mental health and sexuality.
Mental Health
The genesis of polka dots in Kusama's art came from her childhood, where as early as age 10 she had hallucinations of spots.
“I translate the hallucinations and obsessional images that plague me into sculptures and paintings."
And from Wikipedia:
Kusama has been open about her mental health and has resided since the 1970s in a mental health facility which she leaves daily to walk to her nearby studio to work. She says that art has become her way to express her mental problems. "I fight pain, anxiety, and fear every day, and the only method I have found that relieved my illness is to keep creating art," she told an interviewer in 2012. "I followed the thread of art and somehow discovered a path that would allow me to live."
I think Sydney's polka dots, viewed through the lens of Kusama's art, could be an indication of the healthiness of using creativity and collaboration in the kitchen as a way to process and work through past trauma as well as anxiety. As Kusama's art has given her a path allowing life, as she said, Sydney's polka dots could represent that Carmy has a path to improved mental health and a better place through his collaboration with Syd and their mutual inspiration. Carmy spends a lot of season 3 doing things for Sydney instead of with her, and his reflection of her polka dots in his sauce stands out as a reflection and a growing recognition in him of the full depth of her importance to him.
Sexuality
Which brings me to the second potential reference to Kusama's work in the polka dots, which is a reference to sexuality.
Sexuality has played a very complicated and, even at times disturbing, role in Kusama's life and she has used her art as a way to process it and reconcile her sexuality with herself. She was traumatized early by an abusive mother who sent her to spy on her cheating father as he conducted his affairs, which led to a reaction towards anything sexual filled with a lot of disgust (understandably). Over the course of her career, she grappled more and more with her feelings on sexuality in her art, with many representation both of female and male genitals in her work. As one article says:
Her works often depict phallic shapes and repetitive patterns, which she has said are meant to represent the human obsession with sex and desire. Kusama’s art also explores themes of self-obliteration and the loss of self in the face of infinite repetition.
Phalli's Field (1965) - first mirrored room installation, filled with phallic shapes made out of fabric and cardboard, covered in polka dots.
From Stir World:
While the work circled back to the phallic motif, the design intervention of using mirrors created an architecture of infinite space. This was the beginning of what revolutionised her career so much so that in 2016, she was chosen as one of the world’s most influential people by TIME magazine. Since then, her exhibitions of infinity rooms like Love is Calling have had waiting lines of over five hours for a few seconds of viewing time.
Especially when Kusama combines polka dots with mirrored infinity rooms as she calls them, there is very much a sense of both reflectivity and reflexivity that happens. An interesting example in terms of this discussion, Infinity Mirrored Room - Love Forever (1966/1994), the polka dots in this room being represented by round, colored light bulbs:
A description of the installation (emphasis mine):
Infinity Mirrored Room—Love Forever is an iteration of the second mirrored environment Kusama created. Sculptural, architectural, and performative, the installation blurs the lines between artistic disciplines and is activated by audience participation. Hexagonal in shape and mirrored on all sides, Love Forever features two peepholes that invite visitors to peer in and see both themselves and another participant repeated into infinity.
Kusama used her polka dots, especially when integrated into more phallic shapes in reflective rooms, to process and come to grips with her sexuality. And if there was an intentional reference being made to her art in Sydney's proclivity towards polka dots in season 3, I think it's in Carmy's coopting of the imagery in his sauce. The reflective and reflexive gesture indicates his observation of her (in that he noticed her repeating the pattern over the course of months in her clothes and scarves) as well as his desire for her. At their best, they are vibrantly collaborative and we see each of them let the other in more than anyone else. And this isn't entirely comfortable for Sydney, seen in the way she deflects his questions about her parents and her apartment at different points. But she does eventually tell him more and let him in more - and I think the polka dots could also be a representation of her coming to grips with her feelings and ultimately desire towards/for him, as well as the importance of their collaborative relationship, especially with the difficulty of Carmy in S3 as well as her offer from Shapiro.
(Also as an aside, Yayoi Kusama's art comes up as a rather regular inspiration/collaboration in food and fine dining, so it feels like her art may at least have been on someone's radar as they thought about Syd's polka dots this season. See here and here and here and here and here - as created by a former chef from the French Laundry.)

OC Deep Dive
tagged by @baldursghaik!
I considered doing a DA OC but reading Thyneron's made me think of trouble worm daughter so we going with Nathrae instead.
-> Phobias and other fears: Prior to the events of BG3 Nat was considerably chill on the phobia and fear area, but the tadpole and the looming threat of mind control installs a profound dread on her and loss of control and shots to fear number one. She's an orphan, an outlaw and a runaway, the only thing she fully possesses is herself, and to finally have that threatened is... yeah.
-> Pet peeves: Nathrae abhors complainers. People who constantly find a reason to lament and moan (about anything and everything) or are overly nitpicky just REALLY annoy her. Also really hates being interrupted or spoken over, she will walk away from a conversation if she keeps getting interrupted.
-> 3 things you can always find in their bedroom: Nat doesn't have a bedroom or anything akin to a house until like... farther post-BG3. So I'm going with things you can always find in her possession - her adamantine lockpick kit, a sketchbook and hygiene items (mainly for haircare, she can find body soap anywhere but she is strict with her hair upkeep).
-> First thing they notice in a person: How they fit the people around, and their general body language. Nat is on the "guarded" end of the spectrum so before she even notices any physical qualities, she's trying to have an idea if they fit in with the place, and if they seem tense, nervous or comfortable.
-> On a scale of 1-10, how high is their pain tolerance? Six to seven. That threshold is definitely passed during BG3 but as a drow and ex-Lolth sworn she's grown quite accustomed to pain.
-> Do they go into fight or flight mode when under pressure? Really situational, but Nat is generally on flight mode because she'd rather go for self-preservation than going on offensive right away. She will fight back if she's backed into a corner though.
-> Do they come from a big family/are they a family person? Nathrae is an orphan, and was "raised" in the community on the Braeryn in Menzoberranzan, which still didn't provide her any adoptive family. She doesn't really consider herself a family person after being on her own for so long.
-> What animal represents them best? Foxes. They're opportunistic predators rather than fully dedicated hunters, but they're also extremely adaptable and can do well in whatever environment they're in. Symbolic-wise, foxes are associated with cunning, playfulness and resilience, and that also matches Nat perfectly.
-> What is a smell they dislike? Heavily sweet or sugary scents, safe for the smell of sussur blooms (she tolerates it because she likes the flower). She also doesn't like the smell of surface leather after being used to drowcraft armor for so long, but again, she endures it because oh well.
-> Have they broken any bones? As a thief she's had her share of broken bones, though nothing major that would rend a full limb useless. Nat relies a lot on her ability to be as functionally mobile as possible, so she's careful.
-> How would a stranger likely describe them? Overall, Nat intentionally aims to be as ordinary as possible. Being a drow definitely gets in the way specially on the surface, and if she doesn't have her head covered people are likely to refer her hair color (as it stands out compared to the typically light-haired drow). The scarring on the left side of her face is also a potential physical descriptor. But other than that, a stranger won't have much behavior-wise to describe her. She blends in quite nicely.
-> Are they a night owl or morning bird? Night owl. As a drow, pre-tadpole she couldn't even reliably stay in the sun, and as a thief it's not like the light would do her any favors. BG3 is the most active she's been during daylight in her life.
-> What is a flavor they hate and a flavor they love? There's nothing she hates to the point of not eating because food is food and she doesn't have room to be fussy, but Nat doesn't really favor bland/delicate food and isn't too fond of sweets. She has a thing for wine though, and good wine at that. But generally speaking she loves trying alcohol of all sorts and recipes.
-> Do they have any hobbies? Drawing! Nat likes to pick up charcoal or any other medium that can stain paper and just do observation drawing. Her sketchbooks are mostly filled with botanical illustrations though, normally accompanied of alchemical notes of said plant.
-> Boom, surprise birthday party! How do they react to surprises? Any person who truly knows her would not throw a surprise birthday party, so it'd definitely be coming from someone that would just have her walk right back out and fucking disappear. Don't surprise Nat at best she will walk out on you at worst you'll get stabbed.
-> Do they like to wear jewelry? Yes! Though she limits how much she wears at a time and avoids wearing rings (they get in the way of having quiet and quick lil' paws), she does like earrings, necklaces and other accessories she can add to her clothing, notably silver.
-> Do they have messy handwriting? Nat has decent handwriting, simple and legible to anyone who can speak the language she's writing in. The Lolth priestess were really stern on being able to read reports and she was strongly forced conditioned to write neatly.
-> What are the two emotions they feel the most? Before BG3, uneasiness and loneliness, though she'd never admit the latter. Nat's always lived with suspicion of other people (possibly wanting to take advantage of her), but deep down craving connection to someone she can trust and let her guard down a bit.
-> Do they have a fabric? You'd think leather, but it's actually linen, specially expertly crafted. Her "guilty" fabrics though are satin (chiffon more specifically) and wool, but she only really indulges in owning/wearing clothing with these when she sort of settles down.
-> What kind of accent do they have? More eloquent and well-spoken than you'd expect for someone with her background, but still not quite hitting the super well read mark. She's learned how to talk to nobles in her line of work, but hasn't invested too much time honing it. When speaking drow, she has very little of the lyrical undertone often associated with how the noble houses talk, and lands firmly on the Drowic heard out in the Stenchstreet with borrowed words from other races.
I have a feeling this does very little to show her as anything to what I've often said: a feral street cat who deep down enjoys scritches fmsdlkkgm But- there she is!
Tagging, no pressure: @camelliagwerm @pinkyjulien @nokstella @lordcaptains @bardic-inspo
and @togepies!

OC Deep Dive - Evelyn Van Richten
thank you! @holocene-sims for tagging me. Sorry it took me so long to reply, but yeah. Here goes. I’ll answer for Evie I think.
@cawthorntales @capptrash @miss-may-i @helenofsimblr @wannabecatwriter @invisblequeen @seyvia @pixel-bloom- Anyone who wants to! Or feel free to ignore if you've done it or don't want it. It's all good!
what uncommon/common fear do they have?
She fears very little in the way of things, but she would NEVER admit to any fears, but fears of abandonment or loss. Also, she’d be devastated if she disappointed her father.
do they have any pet peeves?
Evie is what I would call an old soul. She prefers things to be orderly and everything has a proper place. She’s precise and anything that is out of place or disheveled will irk her something fierce.
what are 3 items you can find in their bedroom?
Several hidden fire arms, a jewelry box of her mother’s and lots of books - Most of them are going to be historical, physics, archaeology, technical manuals, art of war... and secretly she'd be mortified if anyone found her secret collection of historical romance novels.
what do they notice first in a person?
She would first assess their body posture and if they are a threat or not. She’d be looking for signs of supernaturals hidden in a human form and devising contingency for attack should there be one. If there was no threat, she would be making direct eye contact.
on a scale of 1 to 10, how high is their pain tolerance?
10 easy. She and her brothers have been training for their entire lives. If she cries out in pain it’s got to really hurt otherwise she’d die before she gave anyone the satisfaction of seeing her in pain.
do they go into fight or flight mode when under pressure?
Under pressure, she will fight to the last breath. Socially she is about the same to be fair, she’s as vicious with words as she is with weapons.
do they come from a big family/are they a family person?
She loves her family it’s not a very large family, but the ones who get in are loved and protected with ferocity.
What animal represents them best?
To represent her, I would have to represent all three siblings as they primarily fight as one unit. I guess they would be much like wolves. Loyal, dangerous, but loving to their loved ones.
what is a smell that they dislike?
cabbage, Lilies
have they broken any bones?
A few times, mostly fractures. Recently her wrist was broken by Guy during her attack on him.
how would a stranger likely describe them?
Determined, cold, aggressive, see you next Tuesday. Frigid... all those kind of things that usually turn people away from you.
are they a night owl or a morning bird?
She has no preference for time. Supernatural hunting can be any hour or day of the week.
what is a flavor they hate and a flavor they love?
She loves strawberries, hates lilies
do they have any hobbies?
She enjoys updating the Van Richten Archives, making her own ammo, archery, and reading.
boom, surprise birthday party! how do they react to surprises?
She would likely pull a gun instinctively and then leave when she realizes it's a party. Surprises and parties have no place in her world. They leave you open and vulnerable.
do they like to wear jewelry?
When not working she would wear jewelry, while hunting or expecting an attack, no. She'd take off her jewelry and heels before fighting, if she were to get caught in such a situation.
do they have neat or messy handwriting?
Neat and very legible cursive writing. She refuses to print. It's not efficient.
what are two emotions they feel the most?
Anger and Fear ... Mostly Anger.
do they have a favorite fabric?
Kevlar
what kind of accent do they have?
I tend to think of her as English, but I think she could hide her accent well enough to blend in with any place. Unfortunately, her hair being white is kind of hard to hide and she’ll die before it would be dyed.
Her father and brothers would be English as well, but for whatever reason I don't hear Randall as having much of an English accent at all. Tristan and RT would be a bit harsher of an accent, but Evie's would be light English.

❛ did you miss me ? ❜ for bob taylor ? :3
Baby, you're just harder to see than most
Pairing - Bob Taylor x Neutral!Reader
Summary - Bob brings you flowers, once again.
Word Count - 660
Warnings - heavy angst (im serious), mentions of grief and loss, reader is dead, bob is visiting readers grave, mentions of therapy and trauma, no use of y/n
A/N - Im aware this probably is the last thing you wanted, I'm really sorry. (this one's a lil all over the place.)
His shoes crunched beneath the dead leaves, their various shades of brown and orange littering the hill. The grass was no longer vibrant, as usual during the winter months. Dried patches could be spotted, amongst the once lush greenery. January’s frigid air nipped at his pale cheeks, leaving behind a dust of red across his nose.
Bob licked at his chapped lips, denying the urge to gnaw at them. A gust of wind blew past, brushing back his unkempt dark locks. The trees swayed, as leaves fluttered to the ground around him. Overhead, dark gray clouds threatened to swallow the town.
He tugged at the thin overcoat, wrapping it further around his body. Yet the cold persisted, causing a deep chill to rest in his bones. His hands shook, as they gripped onto a bundle of white Camellia’s wrapped in parchment paper. Last month, he gave you Sunflowers. Something to represent a little warmth. And the month before that, bright Marigolds that stood out like the sun against your gravestone.
His feet stood in front of it now, the sunflowers gone, having become wilted and thrown out. Birds chirped, speaking to one another of the pale one, returning again.
‘Poor boy.’ He could imagine them saying. ‘Visiting in this weather.’
Bob gently laid the flowers by your grave, allowing the tiny critters of the earth to seek refuge amongst the petals.
“Did you miss me?” he asked, lips awkwardly quivering to form a smile.
You, of course, never answered. The one-sided conversations used to hurt, a reminder that the only evidence he had of your voice now was in past memories.
But even those were starting to fade.
“I really missed you, too.” He replied, stuffing his hands in his jacket pockets.
The grief was once unbearable. It burrowed itself into his chest, like a woodland creature seeking shelter in a tree. He was aware there was something living inside of him, taking up its share of space. It would nibble at his heart, grotesque hot mouth lapping at the veins as it thanked him for “providing during its hibernation.’
But he had made a friend of grief long ago, as a young boy. He understood, better than most, grief does not hibernate. It builds tunnels deep within you, hiding in the dark corners.
Your heart is its bed, where it rests its beastly head for slumber.
“I’m getting help.” He mentioned, toying with a piece of pocket string. “I have sessions once a week with a therapist.”
Leaves danced by his feet, being swept away by the wind. He imagined, in some sense, that it was you. Brushing by him, reaching out in acknowledgement.
The corners of his lips twitched, at the thought.
“I’m sorry for taking so long to get around to it.” He muttered, staring at the ground. “I’m ready to get better, though.” The grass curled around his shoes, trying to keep him steady.
The confession felt almost dirty, having admitted it out loud. But it was the truth, dear god, it was the honest truth.
He wanted to get better, and live, it was almost painful how much he desired it. It was a deep ache, one given to him at birth. Something he knew before grief, before god, before the hell that had swallowed him for years.
Bob wanted to get better, and live so he could bring you a bundle of Carnations next month. And Dahlias the month after. And Peonies, Orchids, Daffodils.
A garden would begin to grow around your grave, life cradling death. And when that garden grew, maybe the visits would slow as he would finally find himself at ease.
Maybe grief would sprout into a beautiful reminder that he had shared a life with you, at one point.
Until then, he would bring you flowers. The memories would still be painful, but you were in them nonetheless.
And some small part of him thanked the world for that.

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Spread the self-love ❤
ah i also got this from @c-goldthorn thank u guys :3 and just like you i’m going to suck myself off bc you’re so right sometimes you need to!! ~~~
1. make it linger (genkill, brad x ray)
i’m still so proud of this silly oneshot 4 years later, i think it’s the first fic i wrote where you can really see my niche and personal style coming through. it feels very representative of the stuff i like about my writing.
2. rub it ’til it bleeds (succession , roman x mencken)
this is just so much fun, pure wrong violent bloody animal sex. i love the dialogue in this one it feels very natural for such a bizarre situation. it’s also pretty funny. must stop breaking guys arms in fics
3. this mess we’re in (succession, roman x stewy)
this is really my baby. it’s very raw, it’s very personal, i’ve had a lot of people tell me it meant a lot to them. i could go on but that alone really is crazy and makes this fic so important to me.
4. take in the sweetness (mota, buck x bucky)
my first mota fic and it took me a while to get the voices right whilst writing it but i think they came out very strong. character voices are very important to me (absolute victim of the ‘he wouldn’t fucking say that’ mindset. i am trying to unclench a bit with this. punk au is helping) so i usually dedicate a lot of energy to getting them right when it’s my first time writing them and i think i did here, especially considering gale’s mouth is occupied for most of it. only thing i’d change is more gagging
5. this must be the place (mota, buck x bucky)
i love gore!!! i love angst! i loveee men in pain and situations!!! i don’t know if this sounds pigheaded but i wish there were more mota fics like this. blood loss vomit broken bones delirium groaning whimpering. like what’s sexier than that. get nasty guys!!

Osgood's Nightlight: a ramble of thoughts on hopeful symbolism in Cosmosgate
Last night I completed my latest reread of Technically Write's "My Cosmos is Yours" through to Chapter 41. As always, I highly recommend it even though I have biased myself by falling in love with thier carefully curated lyrical prose. You can thank me later and avoid spoilers by doing that now.
All done? Wasn't that a fantastic 40+ hours?
Anyways, right there, in amongst everything else happening in c41 is the introduction of Osgood's TARDIS Nightlight. It bathes the entire midnight of the chapter in streaks of blue grading with convenient yellow highlights which the cinematographer in my head adored.
It's a lovely little touch at Osgood's fangirl credentials that she has one.
But UNIT exists in a universe where the Doctor is a grey area of conspiracy theory/folk hero/folk horror / startling top secret fact. Police boxes existed, as they did in the real world, but even etsy might struggle to find a market for led street furniture ornaments.
So, it's safe to infer that Osgood, a genius across multiple fields who at this point still idolises the Doctor (even if the one she has met was a bit of a loon) made that herself.
These stories are supposed to take place before "Day of the Doctor" which introduced the brunette genius to her adoring public. So why make a TARDIS Nightlight?
Nightlights exist to make one feel safe in the dark. Osgood hasn't really shown a lot of issues with the dark up to this point but an awful lot has happened to her in recent weeks.
When Kate, Sarah and the Dr visit in C14 no mention is made of the device. But it is daytime and unlikely to be lit.
Unless it doesn't exist yet.
And if it is crafted by Osgood, why would she choose to do so after c14?
From here on, the action elements ramp up as the events of 3 boxsets of audio impact on our hero's. Critically, all four major trauma epsodes have issues of light.
First, after being blown up on a submarine, Osgood is assaulted by the Silurians fear device causing her to hide amongst corpses while hallucinating a cave. Her escape from those events involve swimming through a natural cave structure while not quite herself.
Secondly, Peru. The sunglasses she used in her disguise have mostly been represented so far in the story as a barrier to Kate communicating with her. But it places her in the dark, and shortly thereafter we learn she has been suffering from recurring nightmares about those events.
It is here, in the frozen weeks where she is avoiding Kate, that I suggest she has constructed her Nightlight.
Why not buy one though? In 2012 even a good led Nightlight would have been around £5.
I surmise that it goes back to disguise. That's what the Police Box is, after all. A disguise that's gone a bit wonky. A comfort in the dark. This is still the osgood that cowers on the floor of the undergallery chanting 'The Doctor will save me.' to herself. Right up until she finds the ability to save not only herself but Kate in short order.
It also ties into the essence of the DOTD script. That the TARDIS is an avatar of safety and hope.
"You know that sound the tardis makes?" "Yes?"
"That wheezing groaning sound brings hope, wherever it goes."
Thirdly, her concussion at the hands of fake Sontarans immediately opens with a light sensitivity issue. For her own safety she needs to stay in the dark, instantly forming a bond between the dark and the pain of not only the initial injury but the ensuing memory loss which is still being felt in this very chapters flashback!
Finally, like the sunglasses, the VR headsets used to partially convert her to the cyberiad's way of thinking, place her as much in the dark as the sunglasses had. Escaping the headset Osgood crawls under a desk, out of the light.
When C40 opens and we catch up to Osgood at home her safe space is lit by one lamp on the floor throughout the chapter but she is still hiding in a dark she would otherwise actively avoid. Is this a self imposed punishment?
Kate asking to stay evokes relief and yet...
The Nightlight goes on.
It's not just for Osgood, she tells Kate that the option to turn it off is hers.
It's symbolism therefore, returns to one of Hope.
Kate Stewart has the power, in that instant, to turn out that hope.
Without realising it, perhaps, she chooses to leave that light on. To watch her beloved Osgood sleep.
Hope, against the darkness.
And thats why I love this work so passionately. Every syllable is deftly handpicked for the most eloquent of reasons.
It's also why the gap between chapters, thanks to existence of life itself, is trivial.
Great art takes time.
Thank you for reading if you made it this far

~A letter to Halsey just in case she sees it~
Dear Ashley,
I’ve been a fan of yours for a long time and you and your music were instrumental to my queer awakening and acceptance of myself back in 2015. I’m currently chronically ill and I have been either in the hospital or housebound for 3 years now. Your last album came out right as my health started rapidly declining and getting very very scary. In August and September 2021 I was going back and forth to the hospital almost every day for breathing issues, and then as things progressed my body started rejecting food and I began starving to death. Your music was one of the pieces of art that got me through an impossible and terrifying time when I had nothing else. I listened to “honey” on the way to the hospital while I was gasping for air. I was admitted to the hospital finally in October 2021 and remained in the hospital for 2 whole months. I listened to “darling” thinking about my family who didn’t bother talking to me or visiting me during this time. I listened to “I am not a woman, I’m a god” before scary procedures or when I needed to be brave before I got poked prodded and tested by doctors every single day. I almost died during that time, and since then I’ve lost 3 years of my life continuing to be ill and not being able to leave the house because of my illness. I’ve missed out on so much life these last few years, and I’ve suffered 100% of the time, never having a break from symptoms or pain for even a moment. Not to mention the sadness, loneliness, despair, etc etc.
Your new songs resonate with me deeply, because there is not much chronic illness representation in music. I’ve lost 100 pounds because of my illness, and I’ve dealt with a whole range of comments from people, for example: saying I’m finally attractive because I’m skinny, that I look sickly because I’m skinny, or a doctor saying other women would be jealous of me for losing so much weight and I should start a weight loss program for women (once again, I was starving to death). The bottom line is no one knows how to treat people with chronic illness, weight fluctuations, disabilities, etc. It heals my soul to get to listen to music that represents me right now (although I wish you didn’t have to experience it in the first place).
I’m not writing to ask you to keep making music. I love and value your music so much, and it has obviously been so meaningful to me. But I mainly wanted to reach out as someone who has also experienced their own personal hell, just to say I hope you do whatever you need to do to take care of yourself, whatever that looks like. As someone who has experienced a near death experience and has lost three years of my life, I don’t want to lose any more. If and when I ever get my life back, I only want to invest my time and energy in things and people that are good for me and matter to me.
I’m sorry you’ve had to go through this and that you’ve had to carry your burden in silence. I can’t understand your own unique illness experience, but I am sending you so much love. Thank you for your music and what it has given me. I hope if you make more music in the future, it makes you more whole rather than having to cut off parts of yourself. Remember you are so loved❤️
With love,
Angela

The Future of RIIZE
Based on Tarot. Please Take Everything I Say With A Grain of Salt.
What Is The Future of RIIZE In Light of Seunghan's Exit From The Group?
5 of Wands Rx, 3 of Wands Rx, 10 of Swords, 8 of Swords Rx, 7 of Pentacles, Knight of Pentacles
So right now, the energy isn't the greatest, obviously. I'd bet that over the next few weeks their energy won't be the best, and it might show at fan signs or events that they go to. They are all feeling let down, confused, anxious, and fearful about how they are going to recover after this. They thought that they would have been able to avoid this conflict, or wished that it was taken care of sooner with the 5 of Wands here. This is to be expected but their conflict and controversy counts will go down significantly. They feel as though removing Seunghan was their best course of action at this point in time for both himself and the group. That isn't to say that they're happy about it, because the next card in the sequence is the 3 of Wands Rx, which represents a disappointment or dissatisfaction with the outcome of a situation. It also represents a loss of confidence and self doubt. It feels like they're doubting the future of the group, because of the loss of a significant team member and because of the damage that has already been done. The 3 of Wands also represents lack of travel and lack of expansion, so they could lose a lot of their international audience over this.
I see that this has really put a damper on their plans and they arent really sure how to move forward right now. There may be certain events or opportunities that they will have to cancel or turn down in the near future because of this. With the 10 of Swords here, there is a significant ending, but as tragic as it may be, every ending provides a new beginning. The number 10 reduces to the number 1 which represents new beginnings so even though this is a very sad card, it does allude to things getting better. Anyway, this was a very unpredictable event it will be very difficult for the group to overcome. Not just as people but as idols. Some members of the group may be feeling a sense of betrayal from either Seunghan, SM, or both. There is an energy of bitter energy from some of the members, but there is also an energy of someone (SM) overdoing something. Doing too much, melodramatic actions, jumping the gun, etc.
We have some better cards at the end so it does get better for them eventually. This will likely be when this all blows over in a month or two. With the 8 of Swords Reversed here, there is an ending of some sort, to this era. They will begin to release this pain and anxiety, working on gaining mental strength to move past this to put themselves in a better place mentally. They are going to be remaining hopeful and gaining confidence in themselves again, when this all blows over. With the 7 of Pentacles here, expect a lot of new stuff from them in the next few months. New songs, full length albums, lots of fan service, etc. in an effort for SM to pull themselves back up in terms of popularity. They are going to be doing a lot of hard working in the near future, even more so with the loss of a member, there may be a lot of things that have had to change. Expect a lot of business endeavors from them. Acting jobs, brand deals, etc. SM may start to properly work on growth and cultivation by utilizing RIIZE.
What Is Seunghan's Future In Light of His Exit From RIIZE?
King of Pentacles Rx, Strength Rx, Knight of Wands Rx, The High Priestess, Knight of Pentacles
Seunghan isn't in a very good energy right now. He's extremely ungrounded and feels like he's lost his grip on his life.I feel like his withdrawal from the group has impacted him significantly, especially financially. He feels as though he has made many ill-advised and hasty decisions regarding his time in the group, and pre-debut and he's beating himself up about it.
This entire situation will mess with his self esteem and confidence as a person and as an idol, and will cause him to be very fearful and anxious for a while, as he doesnt really have a sense of purpose with the Knight of Wands in Rx. He may end up making a few hasty or reckless decisions, following this as well.
He was honest when he said that he was going to take some time to evaluate himself. With The High Priestess here he will go through a period of isolation and introspective, and he wont be reachable. Expect him to disappear for a while. No active social media, no Youtube, etc. Not for a while. He is likely going to use this time to get back in touch with himself and re-evaluate his priorities.
Similarly to RIIZE as a group, the last card in Seunghan's sequence was also the Knight of Pentacles, so his future could be very similar to theirs. He may end up joining another company far into the future as an idol, or he may end up doing something completely different. Either way, I see his business opportunities increasing, and his life finally starting to get back on track.
Will Seunghan Return to RIIZE?
Ace of Swords Rx, Page of Swords Rx, 7 of Wands, Page of Pentacles, Ace of Pentacles
I'm gonna call this a hard maybe, slightly leaning towards a no. The Ace of Swords in reverse is a No. It ALSO represents making the wrong decision, injustice, destruction, and misinformation which I feel are fitting themes for this reading. Because of the amount of destruction caused, SM may not want to out him back into RIIZE. This card combined with the Page of Swords in Reverse represents a lack of clarity. Indecisiveness, or being unable to make your mind up about a situation. I do think that SM will leave us hanging for a while regarding Seunghan's future as an artist, at least until after the legal stuff is over. Both of these cards signify lack of communication as well, so if Seunghan is to return we likely will not know about it until much later.
However, the 7 of Wands represents standing firm in the face of adversity. Defending your position. If Seunghan DOES come back, he's going to have to be able to hold his own because a lot of people won't be happy obviously, and SM will get a lot of backlash because of it. The Page of Pentacles and The Ace of Pentacles together is highly indicative of a fresh start and a solid new beginning. This could definitely mean that he will return, but it also means that if he does not return to the group, he may be offered a new position as an artist (soloist possibly) in SM OR be part of a new group.
When?
Queen of Swords
If he does come back (or the next time we hear about him) it definitely wont be until after the legal stuff has taken place, or finished. Sometime during Libra season or 4 Days, Weeks, Months, or Years from now.

REQUEST
Can I request a one shot with any Pedro character and f reader, where the reader had her dog put down and Pedro character does whatever he can to make her feel better.
I've just recently had my dog put down and my heart is broken.
Thanks
Band-Aid | Frankie Morales x f!reader
warnings: talks about pet loss, emotional grieving and pain, frankie is the best at helping you cope and trying to make you feel better <3 also works for gn!readers | 740+ words
a/n: i'm so sorry anon ☹️ losing your pet is one of the greatest griefs i think we go through. i wish i could give you a great big hug 🫂 i decided to go with frankie because to me he's like a literal human embodiment of a teddy bear, there to hold and snuggle with until you feel better 🧸 i hope these words can bring you some comfort 💗
Frankie will hold you for as long as you need it - all day long and through the night, he'll keep his arms wrapped around you in a comforting embrace. He'll cradle the back of your head and hold you close, whispering to you that, "It's okay." It's okay to cry, it's okay to be upset, it's okay for your heart to be broken.
He understands the weight of having to make such a major decision. He also knows that you're a wonderful, caring parent and that you know what's best for your dog. He'll help you to see that with the grief that responsibility can bring, there is also an endless trove of love for you to receive from eternally.
Frankie gives you a safe space to express your grief. He knows that, despite the pain, it's the better choice to feel it than to ignore it and try to fight it.
He'll be your buoy on the days when you feel like you're drowning in a sea of sorrow, your umbrella on the days when the clouds just won't let up and pour down on you.
"The pain you feel is a reflection of the immense love you and your dog have for each other. It shows just how much you loved your dog and how much your dog loved you back. Unconditionally."
He talks to you about your dog, listening with a smile as you retell stories. From the silly, to the mischievous, to the happy, and every little moment in between, he listens to you with undivided attention.
He reminds you with soft sincerity that you gave your dog a wonderful life in those sad moments where you feel like you could've done more. Frankie will tell you that he knows, as much as your dog knows, that you gave them the best life you could. The love you gave your dog will shine brighter than any star in the sky, burning spectacularly with unconditional love. He philosophizes that souls never really leave us, even if their physical body isn't present anymore.
He's a big believer that the ones you love and lose will find a way to follow you, in some manner or another. Some believe that seeing a cardinal or a dragonfly is representative of the lost soul visiting you, reminding you that they'll always be there. Some believe in spirits or entities like friendly ghosts. Personally, Frankie doesn't place the soul in any one object and believes that they'll visit you in any way they can. On those days when the sun shines a little brighter and feels warmer on your skin than usual, like its' reaching down from the sky and giving you a hug; when the wind blows and sounds like it's singing a melody only for you to hear; when the ocean rises and falls in such a way that you swear it looks as if it's waving hello to you, only you. Frankie wants you to remember that your dog's love will surround you always, even if you can't see it.
Frankie will help you make a memory box for your dog, to create a safe space to visit when you need it. He understands that seeing all the places of loss around your house can feel overwhelming, and he hopes that by taking that sadness and compartmentalizing it into a place of happy memories, it'll lessen the gloom. Frankie will help you collect everything that reminds you of your dog, like their collar, their favorite toys, their favorite blankets and sweaters, and lots and lots of pictures of them.
Frankie also helps you to memorialize the things that you can't fit into the box that remind you of your dog. In the places where your dog ate, slept and played, Frankie will place plants that he says, "are only able to grow from all the love that lives there already."
Grief is not easy, but Frankie will be there to help you every step of the way. He'll share your tears and dab yours away delicately, he'll hold you together when you feel like you're falling apart, he'll take care of you when you don't have the energy to. But he'll also share your smile, laugh with you and help you to nurture and preserve the memory of your dog. The loss can feel like it'll be a permanent wound, but Frankie will do everything in his power to be your band-aid.
to anon 💌: please reach out to me and let me know if you're satisfied with what i've written for you! you asked for a one shot, and i know that i kind of wrote this in the format of headcanons, just because i really wanted to comfort you directly instead of having it as a narrative <3 i'd be more than happy to write something else/something longer for you if you'd like something different! 🫂🫂 or if you just need someone to talk to, my dms and/or inbox are always open 💗

OH GOD its been so long since i posted something actually to do with the arcana BUT i have returned with more thoughts. On my old post about character dynamics and the such with my main 3 (Borea, Attis, Minos) I hadn't quite figured out who they actually were as characters. I had an "aesthetic" in mind, motivations and themes but they all traversed conflict in almost the exact same way so to me it always read as one character just reskinned. GOOD NEWS, i have fixxed this along with some other changes :3
So firstly, name changes. Borea's last name goes from Norche to just Norte (I thought Norte was a little too on the nose but Norche just doesn't sound latin enough to me LMAO). So her full name is now Borea Xandra Norte. Personality wise shes very withdrawn and prefers to spend time buried in paperwork than going to actual Syndicate meetings. The Syndicate is a council that gathers leaders from the various trades and professions that decide the actions taken by the nation of Tua. Borea is extremely well respected amongst her peers, being one of the only houses that sends only one representative to these meetings. She would love to sit them out but feels as if she has to live up to the expectations placed upon her by what seems to be everyone. Truly just a nerd who is very picky about the people who she lets see her more vulnerable side. She tends to be the organizer in a chaotic family, with siblings spread out across the nation and one even leaving to explore the lands beyond, she tries her best to nurture the tenderness and care her parents had sown into them. Because of this she yearns for some sort of clear order and reason to things around her but this instinct has a tendency to become wildly idealistic and removed from reality. She has some awareness to that and together with her fondness for rebels, as her parents both were, she has a soft spot for passionate and practical people, especially her younger sister, Eurus.
Attis Salvo is a golden boy through and through. He is the son of the leaders of an outcast group named the Brass Ring, responsible for mining the ores prevalent through Tua and using them to forge the first fire weapons. After his parents recent death he is left to wade through diplomatic relationships between the new Syndicate and the Brass Ring. Historically, the members of the Ring have fallen ill because of working in the mines and were common amongst the casualties of the revolution. Vesuvia had made a deal with the rebels to offer military aid, which they did not provide, forcing the Brass Ring to create primitive pistols and even armed turrets. Because of this, members of the Ring are against joining the Syndicate and their planned alliance with Vesuvia. Attis is barely scraping by, he knows he can deal with social predicaments much better than his sister but the pressure makes him less reliable, preferring to simply ignore the situation all together or treat it as something beneath him. He was a brilliant artificer in his youth but now he chases the high of starting new projects without minding the pile of half-done inventions lying around his tent. The only lasting happiness he can feel is when he can loose himself into his memories of when his parents were alive, but even that is momentary.
Mino's name is now Medea Ferne Moura! I'm still not too set on how I imagine them to look. Medea was born into the Heilist faith (basically fantasy Christianity), all of their close family and community at large spun around the church and in service to it. Heilsim is not native to Tua but was imported by their original colonizers as a way to pacify the masses, this included a doctrine which valued pain and sacrifice above all else as a form of holiness. Despite it's later reform "God Favors The Lost" is still the church's motto. It was once said as a way of encouraging the subservience of Tua's natives by dangling the loss of approval from God above their heads in case of a counter-attack, now it's a universal chant that God is beside the losers of history until they can stand on their own. This new interpretation has only just barely caught on popularity, there are still groups within the unified church that believe the old doctrine, including a handful of frequenters of the Church of Sebastium, Medea's workplace. Medea themself grew up with the old interpretation and is marked by it. Within them is a deep need to help those who are less fortunate but it is steeped not in a want to do good but in a want to be innocent and, in the conception of the old church, better than the violent revolutionary. Medea, despite rationally knowing better, sabotages themself and others constantly both out of religious need to be victimized and a subconscious want to be needed. They fear that when a person is no longer less fortunate they will be rejected and abandoned, further progressing their internal conflict. This violent battle is covered up by a facade of care and niceties that can not be ruled as entirely false.
#the arcana#the arcana oc#the arcana worldbuilding#attis salvo#borea norte#medea ferne#tua#Not too sure on their color pallets yet#might change Attis' signature color to yellow and Medea's to pink but I'll leave that for latter.

Ok so things we know
1. In the og game each of the brothers represents the seven lords in tsl, which was likely written by Simon in an attempt to process the war and the loss of lucifer and the brothers
2. MC often takes the place of Henry, mostly by Levi but I'm sure I could find it in events if I felt like looking rn
3. Events happening in nightbringer seem to imply a direct correlation between the past and the present, like mc suggesting lucifer hide the credit card in the freezer from mammon
4. Simon HASNT written tsl in nughtbringer. This is mostly implied by Levi not knowing what it is when you get transported into the story, so I guess you could also argue that he just hasn't found the series yet, but I doubt Simon would have written any sizeable chunk of a book series that close to his own trauma after only a year since the fall
So there's a decent argument to be made for mc being at least partially the inspiration for Henry in the same way the brothers were the inspiration for the lords. Which, especially with Levi, is pretty beautiful when you think about it.
Like ok. So you have to live with this random person and you hate being around people let alone strangers. And yeah maybe you're a bit more antagonistic than you need to be, but you're so used to people being negative about your interests (and maybe you have a self loathing problem). But then this stranger goes through a huge amount of effort trying to learn about your favorite series to gain your friendship and it becomes something that ties you two together. (And yes maybe it was part of a ploy, and you will be mad at them later but you'll also forgive them later). They become your best friend, your Henry, your everything just like the book. You complain together, rewatch the movies and point out where the books were better together, your relationship isn't Just based on the book but it is an important part.
But then they get sent to the past, to a time no one likes to talk about, when you and your brothers are filled with so much grief and pain and still struggling to adjust to the darkness. To a time when you hurt, so bad. When you didn't know who you were and didn't have any friends and desperately needed one. And you meet again and become friends. And it's slower going this time around, but they know exactly what to say to make you feel better and they introduce you to new shows and don't roll their eyes when you talk about the things you like that you're just now discovering. And someone from your past sees that, someone who it still hurts to think about much less see again so soon. And that someone, who is dealing with his own grief and pain and hurts just as much seeing you again, sees your growing friendship and it inspires part of his novel. The main character takes shape in his mind watching you and your friend, and he writes the perfect outsider to a group of struggling brothers who love eachother but don't know how to express it. And he writes a novel (and another and another and another) and publishes it a world away from both of you under a pen name.
And years down the line, after you've found the book series unknowingly based on your family and become utterly obsessed with it and memorized every trivia piece and collected all the merch, a random stranger moves into your house.

hi pigeon! If it’s possible, can I ask what the relationship dynamic would be like with my future spouse and how would we be impacting/changing each other?
Hope I’m making sense 🥹 thank you so much!
I have the King of Cups, the 3 of Swords, and the Star.
The dynamic is represented by The King of Cups. This is a good card in relationships. The king leads with his hard. He knows how to be sympathetic but also remains in control of those emotions. It's a great place to grow and a great bond. How you impact and change each other? The 3 of Swords seems daunting at first. But paired with the other cards, this is positive. This means that before, if either of you did not feel safe in expressing your emotions, in this relationship, you can. Whatever heartbreak, pain, loss, regret, that may be experienced, your partner will be there to support you and vice versa. This support is echoed in the card of the Star. You two will be supported to go after your goals in life, whether individually or together. You'll always find your way back to each other.

The Eternity - Lore:
The Eternity would be a uniquely chilling Dread Power, born from the longing of a mortal who sought to escape the inevitable embrace of terminus. Once an ordinary archivist at the Magnus Institute, became obsessed with uncovering the eternal life hidden within the archives. In doing so, they inadvertently tapped into a wellspring of eldritch power that transformed them into The Eternity.
The Eternity - The Boundless Existence, it’s goals:
The Eternity, unlike other entities, represents the inexorable pull of immortality and the fear of decline, of experiences growing worse than simply just ending. It is the entity of constant duration, forever contrasting with themes of finality present in the other dread powers. Oddly enough, it is more collaborative than most, conscious much like The Web, observed in it’s artefacts and avatars. The avatars of The Eternity would be trapped in an eternal cycle of longing for an escape they can never attain, or a wish for eternal impact on their world, compelled to serve The Boundless Existence. Their torment lies in the contrast between the desire for finality and the ceaseless, ever-expanding nature of their existence.
"The Eternity" in The Magnus Archives universe would serve as uniquely unsettling, emphasising unending servitude and the futility of trying to escape, setting it apart from the other entities in the series. This is also complimented with it’s consciousness as a result of it’s origins, and unique meddling in the lives of avatars it finds ‘interesting’ enough.
The Eternity - It’s Avatars:
Avatar 1 - The Eternal Scholar:
Background Lore: A once-renowned historian who became obsessed with immortality through the secrets hidden within the Magnus Institute's archives. This obsession led to their transformation into an avatar of The Eternity.
Powers:
Temporal Tomes: The Eternal Scholar possesses the ability to place souls into books, gaining their own torturous ‘stories’, their pages endlessly turning.
Avatar 2 - The Forever Mourner:
Background Lore: A grieving widow, offered the chance to be reunited with her deceased wife by The Eternity. However, this reunion took a sinister turn, as her love is now an eternal companion in a world of unending sorrow.
Powers:
Eternal Embrace: The Forever Mourner can draw similarly mourning victims into her perpetual funeral, making them experience the pain of loss and heartbreak for eternity.
Grief Mirage: She can create illusions of her beloved, luring others into her sorrowful domain where their memories are reshaped to match her eternal lament. She knows she is but a shadow of her former lover.
Avatar 3 - The Ageless Wanderer:
Background Lore: A seasoned adventurer who stumbled upon an artefact amulet that granted him immortality but at the cost of being eternally lost. The Eternity embraced his plight and transformed him into an avatar.
Powers:
Endless Exploration: The Ageless Wanderer roams endlessly through ever-shifting, madness inducing landscapes, drawing others into his endless journey.
Lost Reality: He can manipulate space and direction, trapping those who cross his path in a labyrinthine world where they are forever disoriented and without a way out. There, the only way to escape would be if the distortion would take mercy upon you, if it will not just trap you itself. But, then again, no one has really tried another path.
Avatar 4 - The Unyielding Artisan:
Background Lore: A talented sculptor who, driven by the desire for eternal recognition, and immortal works, created lifelike statues infused with fragments of his own soul. These statues have since become sentient avatars of The Eternity.
Powers:
Living Sculptures: The Unyielding Artisan's statues come to life, capturing and freezing victims in a lifelike form of stasis.
Sculptor's Curse: He can manipulate matter to reshape individuals into living sculptures, preserving them in agonizing poses for eternity.
These avatars of The Eternity would each embody aspects of eternal existence contrasting other fears, luring victims into their personal hells of unending torment and despair. Their fates are tales of those who once sought something beyond death but found themselves trapped in a nightmare of everlasting dread.
The Eternity - It’s Artefacts:
The Hourglass of Perpetual Torment:
Description: An ornate hourglass that, when activated, causes the sand to flow upwards, defying gravity. It radiates an eerie, timeless glow.
Power: Those caught in the sand's reverse flow experience eternal suffering, reliving their worst memories and fears in reverse order, with no escape until the hourglass is shattered or they finally overcome these experiences.
The Mirror of Infinite Reflections:
Description: A tarnished, ancient mirror with a hauntingly beautiful frame. When gazed upon, it shows ever-changing reflections of alternate realities and timelines.
Power: Anyone who gazes into the mirror risks being pulled into an alternate dimension, where they experience eternal existence as twisted, yet beautiful versions of themselves, an eternal escape, unless, the victim ‘completes the story’. The question, then, would be if they want to destroy this world, or continue it.
The Cursed Quill of Endless Words:
Description: A quill that never runs out of ink and compels its user to write ceaselessly. The ink flows with disturbing stories and the reader feels a compulsion to continue writing.
Power: Anything written with the quill becomes a reality, but the written words often take on dark and unpredictable twists, leading to eternal consequences for those involved.
The Pendant of Unbroken Memories:
Description: A delicate, silver pendant containing a shimmering green crystal. When worn, it imbues the wearer with perfect memory, but also binds them to the memories of The Eternity.
Power: The pendant forces the wearer to relive the Eternity's memories, which are filled with despair, dread, and the relentless passage of time, slowly driving them to madness.

watched The Last Wish again today, cause the movie rocks, and decided to be a nerd about it.
alright so you know how the black forest changes its landscape and challenges to reach the star depending on who is holding the map? Right so after thinking about it and how much story potential that sort of things has, I came to the fairly general conclusion that each section, three in all every time, marks a place where the one going for the wish must either confront, come to terms with, or move past an aspect of their inner self before they reach the wish.
So, of course, that means its a fuel for fanfics and OC ideas and to apply that logic to blorbos from other shows. which i am going to do right now, because none of you can stop me.
herein a few characters i have ideas for where i talk what three sections they’d have, and what they might would wish for or if they have a wish at all: (i invite and encourage reblogs with blorbo ideas, have fun!)
Baiken: (because of course im starting with her)
Sections: 1. Plains of Bloodshed; a long stretch of road where more and more shadowy enemies pop out of nowhere trying to kill you. The more that get cut down the more that pop back up, and the longer you stay the stronger they become. They always attack and there’s no way of getting them to stop, so you need to find the quickest way forward while striking down the minimal amount of people before the blood gets too thick to walk through.
2. Abyss Of Loss: A narrow bridge overlooking a gaping hole in the earth, from which one can hear hauntingly familiar voices. They beckon you to jump off the bridge to join them, to not bother trying to cross because there’s nothing on the other side anyway. As you get closer to the other side you can feel ghostly fingers weighing down your steps, until they suddenly let go when you finish crossing. Don’t look down.
3. Mirrors Of Longing: Visions of what could be, visions of what used to be, visiions of what will never be again. Memories of a home, of a town, of a festival. They rewind and repeat endlessly like broken VCRs. Looking at one for too long will make you want to sit down and just...watch. Watch forever, because you know as soon as you look away, it’ll all be gone.
Wish: Peace, or failing that a chance to cut the neck of the one who caused all her pain, whoever that actually is. If its after she finds Delilah...probably nothing.
Anji Mito (i promise its not all GG but i gotta)
sections: 1. Gate Of Truth: A mile high gate of shifting marble. Too smooth to climb, too hardy to break without serious firepower. At the gate stands a statue of a butterfly; on one wing written a question, and on the second wing a place for you to write your answer by speaking it aloud. Speak honestly and loudly for all around you to hear, and the door will open. Speak dishonestly, or speak meekly, and the next question will probe more deeply and more painfully in response. And the questions don’t take it easy on you to begin with.
2. Stairs Of Knowledge: A flight of stairs that seem to go on forever. With every step you take, another piece of information enters your head, and it repeats, over and over. It starts with simple trivia, and then long winded dumps of knowledge of things you never heard of, and then personal information of people you never met. All of this bouncing around the inside of your skull until you feel like its about to burst out. Share the information in full with the person next to you, and the noise of that particular bit stops. Good...if you’re not in a hurry.
3. Door Of Names: A door with a slate where a handle should be, and next to it a stack of name plates. Only your true name, the one which represents you wholly and completely, will act as a key. Each name carries an aspect of yourself, either true or false, and if you put the wrong name in the slate, it will shatter, and take that aspect of you with it. Anji Mito is among those slates. He doesn’t dare to touch it.
Wish: Immortality, or maybe to never be afraid again. Or maybe a quiet plot of earth where no one will ever bother Baiken ever again.
Eri:
sections: 1. Forest Of Fear: A dense forest covered in shadows. Crows and ravens pester from above relentlessly, the faster you run the more vicious they become. Stand and fight, in any way at all; pick up a stick or a rock, or even call for help, and the path out will show itself.
2. Hanging Cliffs: A nearly sheer rockface that needs to be climbed. The higher you climb, the less stable the handholds. Strong winds try to weaken your hold. But its never impossible, so long as you stop to catch your breath and gather your strength for the next step up. Voices on the wind will try to make you doubt your strength, make you fear what awaits on top. Don’t listen.
3. Heroes’ Hall: A long, marble hallway with pictures of faceless heroes adorning the walls. They are heroes you know, heroes you admire, heroes who saved you. Shadows of pain raise from floor to stop you, to bring you back to a pain from long ago. Take a deep breath, trust the heroes on the walls, use their strength. Cut your way through with a song in your heart, and a smile on your face.
Wish: Would probably be in the “I already have anything I could wish for” camp
#puss in boots the last wish#not gonna tag the characters in here because that'll clog things up i think#i kept thinking about this idea one the drive back from the theater
