hweeeehhhhh I'm sorry I know I keep doing this but I just can't help it. Was reading your stuff for Baiken-writing reference and feel the need to say that YEP 'Her Brother's Shadow' still hits like an emotional bullet train and it hurts me just like it did the first time. If I had a nickel for every time you wrote a fic that still made me get misty-eyed after numerous reads I would have two nickels and as someone who doesn't really cry while watching/writing stuff in general that's actually saying a lot and I WILL take every opportunity to gas you up for it

honestly when I wrote I kept thinking "is this too sad? am i going a bit overboard?" but another story hit such a personal sore spot that I just couldn't...not just dive DEEP into it. like sure "WHY IS IT ALWAYS ABOUT GRIEF".jpg and all that, but honestly those trio of characters are defined in their dynamic just about exclusively through grief, through the working through it, suffering it, baring it even if it isn't fair that they had to.

also the whole idea of Bedman? is just so...RIFE with sorrow built into it, the entire idea that the only thing that remains of your loved on is their desire to protect you, twisted and mangled by their hatred and pain towards the fate they suffered. Romeo instructing the bed to destroy itself once Delilah didn't need it still plagues me, this was his weapon but also his prison, its the only way he will ever have a bond with his sister ever again but it represents every wrong ever done to them both.

And Delilah is still so raw in her grief that she'll gladly take even this mangled, rusty, broken thing into her arms and into her heart because...well, what else does she have of him?

yeah honestly Shadow is one of my fics that I also re-read when I want a good heavy feeling and maybe cry a little.

Okay, now that the hype has died down I just want to say that the general vibe of abject horror that Mr Foxington Tobias expressed about the simple fact that he had to make a song to act as a replacement for pepper steak is the realest thing I've ever seen. because like HOLY SHIT. how do you even BEGIN to approach that? i would have crashed out ngl. you want me to try to match up to pepper steak? pepper steak. pepper steak from OFF? you're insane. you might as well ask me to turn water into gold because you are asking me to do the impossible here. to capture pepper steak. pepper steak from off. the song pepper steak from OFF. what the fuck dude what the hell

There's this interview where Toby very much expressed something close to bowl knotting terror at the prospect of making new music for OFF. Pepper Steak specifically took him six tries before he had to call for help getting his replacement (called White Meat, you can find all the songs on yt) done to any level of satisfaction.

He specifically likened the task to "getting picked to be the one taking a bullet in the back for everyone" but he put the damn work in, absolutely.

So yeah, no pressure, eh?

OFF news! The rerelease wont have the original OST but Toby Fox will make new songs for it!

I actually did not believe you nor did I fact check this because I was very busy this week and anons come into my inbox with half truths or flat out misinformation way too often ("bro there's an SRW fighting game coming out!") but it seems this was true after all and man I do NOT envy Toby Fox having to make tracks to replace Alias Conrad Coldwood's music in OFF.

Coldwood's music is as synonymous to OFF as its artstyle and surrealism is. Pepper Steak was one of the single most iconic tracks of those years when it came to indie gaming to the point I'd argue there's a lot of people that know Pepper Steak and don't know OFF. Even putting aside Pepper Steak, you have tracks like Brain Plague (Re-Rewind), Flesh Maze Tango, O Rosto De Um Assassino, and Avatar Beat, to mention just a few.

Imagine if IGA hit you up and casually dropped that he wants you to make a track to replace Bloody Tears or Vampire Killer for Castlevania.

Lyra, my beloved cat of 13 years, passed away this year on Father's Day. She's been by my side through very difficult times and was my little rock of steady and unrelenting love. I struggled a lot drawing this, and struggled a lot posting it, but I know I would've wanted to read a comic like this that validated my grief for her when I lost her.

Wherever you are, Lyra my little summer star, I love you always! Thank you for being the best thing in my life.
