Oh. I just figured out Sammy's family problem.

Laughably obvious, now that I think about it.

They're buying Biosyn feed for the cows. Sammy knows Dodgson was dealing with MantahCorp. She knows he was in on abusing dinosaurs and invested in the control chips. But Biosyn offered her family affordable feed and a good contract (maybe even purchased livestock, though it's presumably easier to get European livestock for the sanctuary), and Sammy refused to get involved.

Their ranch is going to be unaffected by grain prices when the locusts start swarming in Season 3. But more importantly, it's going to connect Sammy to Biosyn: she'll be familiar with the company.

She probably called them out and threatened to expose Dodgson (a respectable and famous innovator!), and they said "If you keep quiet, you get your own house and farm, and we stay rich." And Sammy grumpily agreed.

NOTE: they're not growing Biosyn crops. They're just, say, in a treaty with Henderson Farms and Biosyn that says Biosyn will pay the Gutierrez Ranch one million dollars a year if they exclusively buy from Henderson Farms, which is in contract to Biosyn to grow exclusively Biosyn crops and use them to test their genetically-modified disease-fighting locusts which are 100% incapable of breeding. Furthermore, Henderson Farms will sell feed at a discount, saving the Gutierrez Ranch millions more a year, as long as they honor the contract. God Bless the Free Market and Deregulation!"

[BatIM Cthulhu AU] I'd suggested that, while Sammy is trying to get over his nerves around music and performing after the events of Season 3, he might offer to play songs for Henry's kids as a low-stakes way to ease back into performing, and Maf immediately assured me that if Sammy came over to the Stein household, Henry would invite him to stay for dinner. THIS IS SO CUTE TO ME..... Sammy would be very socially unsure but like, he is not going to turn down homemade bacon soup.
