Drift smiles, hearing Jamie likes what he has planned. Vivian had told him not to tell Jamie this was her idea. Jamie sits on the couch with her red blanket over her shoulders, waiting for Drift. Jamie doesn't wait long before Drift walks in, carrying a tray. "Hot tea and a slice of marble cake," he says as he puts the two cups and plates on the coffee table, "not a bad combination." He hands Jamie a plate and fork before getting a plate and fork for himself and sitting beside her. The two decide to stick with watching YouTube videos and the Twitch stream they watch every night rather than a movie. Though Drift knows what Jamie would pick if they were to watch a movie. It's not that Drift doesn't like the movie. He wants this time together to last longer than three hours. The fire is still going. Cogman adds another log for the night. He looks at the two, hating how they can't have the relationship they're supposed to have and the reason why. He leaves the room.

Once the cake is eaten and the cups empty, Drift moves to the lounger part of the sectional and moves Jamie on him, ensuring she's covered with the blanket. Drift doesn't care about the lack of conversation; he's still considering this a date. There's not much to talk about since Drift is often with Jamie. Drift also doesn't want to upset Jamie and ruin this.

By one in the morning, Jamie is asleep. Drift turns off the TV and picks up Jamie. Keeping the red blanket on her. Cogman already told Drift not to worry about cleaning the mess on the coffee table.

Drift didn't think Crosshairs would still be awake as he watches the mech move to the edge of his bed. "Don't tell me you have been waiting for me?" Drift asks as he lies Jamie in bed. "I know," Crosshairs hugs Drift, "I'd like to help more than this." Drift rests his head on Crosshairs' shoulder. The two stay this way for a few minutes before deciding to go to bed. Crosshairs knows Drift liked his time with Jamie, but knowing she's struggling mentally is hard.

The thing about jonmartin is that Martin wants to be a romantic, he loves poetry and probably watches romance but for him it is a fantasy, a silly game he plays. Martin is at his core very cynical. Things don't work out for him so he doesn't really belive in romance, it is a pretty dream but that's it. He is pratical and realist. Dating Jon he has to remind himself it is real and he actually struggles with romantic gestures, it is something he has to remind himself to do, to remind himself he can do even and honestly who even has the energy and what if Jon doesn't even like it?

Jon on the other hand wants to be cynical. His first coping mechanism was pretend the things he was afraid of weren't real and goddam if he isn't afraid of love. It didn't really work to him so far so it's easy to pretend he doesn't care. But he is a romantic at heart. He saw love and he read about it and he has enough evidence that it is undeniable. And to be honest Jon was always to much a bunch of mushy feelings hidden in a grumpy (and bitter and afraid) trench coat. Dating Martin he has to hold himself so he isn't too much. He plays the grumpy unromantic guy at first. But he just can't stop giving flowers and planing dates (this is the guy that saw a theme park on a fear domain and considered how he wanted to take Martin to a romantic ferris whell date [until he discovered Martin was afraid of them]) and making all the silly things one does when in love.
