What is Zoom Interpretation?
Zoom Interpretation is a feature that allows meeting hosts to provide real-time interpretation services in multiple languages. It ensures that participants who speak different languages can engage in discussions, presentations, and collaborations without language barriers.
Why is it essential in today's globalized world?
As businesses expand globally and international collaborations become the norm, overcoming language barriers is crucial. Zoom Interpretation fosters inclusivity, facilitates international communication, and ultimately leads to better outcomes in various sectors.
Getting Started with Zoom Interpretation
Before you can harness the power of Zoom Interpretation, you need to set up your account and activate this feature.
Sign up for a Zoom account
If you don't already have a Zoom account, sign up on the Zoom website. It's free to create an account, and you can choose from various subscription plans depending on your needs.
Activate the Zoom Interpretation feature
To use Zoom Interpretation, log in to your Zoom account and navigate to the settings. Ensure that the "Interpretation" feature is enabled. This step is essential for conducting multilingual meetings.
Setting Up Your Meeting
Now that your Zoom account is ready, it's time to schedule your multilingual meeting and enable interpretation.
Schedule a meeting
In your Zoom account, schedule a new meeting as you normally would. Set the date, time, and other meeting details.
Enable interpretation
While setting up the meeting, you'll find the "Interpretation" option. Enable it to access interpretation settings for this specific meeting.
Select interpreters
You'll need to have interpreters for each language you want to support. Select the interpreters for your meeting and assign them specific languages to interpret.
Preparing Your Interpreters
Once Professional interpreters are selected, it's crucial to prepare them adequately for the meeting.
Provide materials and context
Share any relevant meeting materials, agendas, or presentations with your interpreters in advance. Providing context helps them prepare and deliver accurate interpretations.
Test interpreter audio and connection
Ensure that your interpreters have the necessary equipment and a stable internet connection. Conduct audio tests to verify sound quality and minimize technical glitches during the meeting.
Joining the Meeting as an Interpreter
On the day of the meeting, interpreters need to join the session correctly.
Using the Zoom desktop app
Interpreters can join the meeting through the Zoom desktop app. They should select the language they'll interpret and connect to the meeting.
Connecting via web browser
Alternatively, interpreters can join through a web browser by clicking on the provided link and following the instructions. This option is convenient if they don't have the Zoom app installed.
Interpreting During the Meeting
Once the meeting starts, interpreters play a crucial role in facilitating communication between participants.
Switching between languages
Interpreters can switch between languages seamlessly during the meeting, ensuring that all participants understand and engage in the discussion.
Muting original audio
To avoid confusion, interpreters can mute the original audio when they are actively interpreting. This helps participants focus on the interpretation.
Participant Experience
Participants also have a role in making Zoom Interpretation work effectively.
How participants select their language
Participants can choose their preferred language for interpretation in the Zoom settings. This ensures that they hear the meeting in a language they understand.
Hearing the interpretation
Participants will hear the interpretation in real-time, making it easier for them to engage in discussions and follow presentations.
Best Practices for Effective Interpretation
To ensure the success of your multilingual meeting, follow these best practices.
Speak clearly and at a moderate pace
Interpreters should speak clearly and at a pace that allows participants to follow along comfortably. Avoid speaking too fast or too slowly.
Manage interruptions and feedback
Encourage participants to avoid interrupting the interpreter and provide feedback on interpretation quality after the meeting.
Troubleshooting and Tips
Despite careful planning, technical issues may arise during your multilingual meeting.
Dealing with technical issues
Have a plan in place to address technical problems quickly, such as interpreter disconnects or audio issues.

So, out of curiosity (AND a slight fear of messing with what you've laid out so clearly in Frequency, which I see as the most reasonable and rational explanation to Thad's character inconsistencies basically, ever), I am wondering if this version of Inertia from Flash #760 fits into the Too Many Thads AU anywhere? From what I can tell, he's the only one not mentioned in your very thorough (and impressively detailed, he was at boomerang's funeral, excuse me sir why are you here???) timeline of Thad appearances. Would you consider him one of the clones we get from the AU, like Six? Or maybe just Thad himself given he's sort of just... chilling in the Speedforce lol. Or did you just not consider him given it's yet another instance of Thad appearing, doing something wild, then disappearing as quickly as he came haha. (Also, I just noticed he says vibrational FREQUENCY, nice👏)
i did... kinda include this iteration. but admittedly it's pretty brief, and the bits of story that take place in the speed force sit in dreamy abstraction rather than solid prose
start of chapter 2 when Thad is running thru the speed force:
He thinks he sees the Flash, once or twice. Tick tock tick tock. You’re running out of time, Barry. But he often thinks he sees lots of people. Once, he thought he saw Max. But the memories exist in his mind the same way a daydream would, and he can’t be sure if it was real.
The "tick tock tick tock" line is taken directly from #760
compared to the other threads of canon that Frequency is written around, it's definitely more on the borders of believably. The "tick tock" line and the bit where Thad threatens to snap his fingers and "blast Barry's mind to pieces" harkens back to the Kid Zoom era and Rogues Revenge, which fucks with my attempt to differentiate this Inertia as a separate person from Kid Zoom. but the hiccup feels minor enough that i think it still works
(and on a tangential note the whole "i'll snap my fingers and blast your mind to pieces" line straight up doesn't make sense to me because YES Kid Zoom famously snapped his fingers and exploded a baby, but he accomplished that by fast-forwarding that baby's timeline so quick that its literal molecules shook apart under the stress. Barry is a speedster and would not respond to timeline manipulation in that way - if at all - because his molecules are already used to that kind of shit. it's a weird and out of place threat to make and i think Williamson may have gotten the impression that Kid Zoom acquired the power of spontaneous combustion which he Fucking Did Not ok rant over)
the general idea i was going for was: Thad is running on rage, sees Barry, has the brief confrontation in #760 where Barry mostly just feels bad for him, and then disappears back into the storm. Implication being that Thad has actually had a couple different interactions with people during his 5 years in the speed force (Eobard, Max, Barry, etc) who try to convince him of things or promise him things, but staying for that long in the speed force (without being dead) fucks with perception a little bit, especially perceptions of Time. so when he's out and looking back on it, Thad can't totally discern what happened, what didn't, or in what order.
also the attendance at Captain Boomerang's funeral gets a shout out near the end of chapter 8 when Bart is going through Six's collection of Four's old stuff:
Some of the items on the shelf he didn’t recognize. A shot glass. A funeral pamphlet for one Digger Harkness. Several empty syringes and auto-injectors all meticulously arranged. A variety of small gadgets and devices that Bart couldn’t place.
because the funeral is technically Inertia's return after the events of Mercury Falling, I translated that as Four's first appearance in the 21st century
#asks#embracesadness#frequency fic#some of the canon stuff ended up as lil easter eggs but i did try to add it all in there#even if some additions don't mesh as neatly as others#still confused about the threat to explode Barry's brain but i have elected to interpret it as:#the speed force is fucking with thad's brain#and maybe he encountered Four/Kid Zoom's ghost particles somewhere in the storm#but Thad doesnt remember it fully completely or coherently#because of the aforementioned speedforce-brain-fuckery

ok so...I wouldnt call myself necessarily "artistically talented", and I famously am very bad at perspectives.. but i drew a thing for @bearotonin-international
#2 hours of my life well spent id say..#and brown bear's little drawing is supposed to be Brown bear + Panda bear. but i realise that both initials fit at least two different#bears. so you can honestly interpret it as you want..#i didnt realise how hard drawing uno cards would be.. my notes app wouldnt zoom more and my fingers arent small enough for that..#but actually they do look pretty good from farther away..#also my imagining is that they cant buy furniture. because they're bears. so they have to make do with what they find..#and that polar bear in the front is playing tetris and losing..#also literally only that brown bear in the back is doing actual work lmao..#and sorry for making them all look so tiny. its really hard to draw a realistically proportionate bear..#my art

if it makes you feel better, that body language book is complete nonsense and you should ignore everything it says. it's all pseudo-science pushed on insecure women. literally burn it to heat your home, at least then it'll have some use.
She actually talks a lot about the inherent sexism and racism in a lot of body language interpretation and verbal cuing and how women and people of color are judged a lot more unfairly in professional environments, and throws in loads of caveats about cultural and personal contexts. It’s not like one of those TikTok channels or the TV show “Lie To Me” it’s more like, “So. You Don’t Know What To Do With Your Hands During Presentations And Job Interviews. Here’s What we observed by interviewing a bunch of employers, conducting a bunch of mock interviews, and reviewing a bunch of TED talk footage and other effective public speakers.” It's not like "X number of blinks mean you're lying." It’s really a bunch of basic, common sense stuff like “actually face people when you talk to them” and “add notes telling yourself to breathe at certain points in your presentation if you tend to get nervous and rush.” And there’s a lot of emphasis on doing what feels comfortable and natural to you. My wish is that she’d talk about the ableism in employers and body language as well, more. I mean obviously we do need to be critical in any behavioral studies but like, people do conduct behavioral studies.
#also arguably recognizing *how* we interpret body language can help us be more conscientious in how we communicate with others#like there's this patron at my work who's a very nervous woman with a very high voice that's like... very sensorily grating to me#And *I* have to be conscious of how that's affecting me and not let that affect how I treat her compared to other patrons#Because obviously she can't control it!#I'd love to find a book on code-switching next so if anyone has recommendations I'd be very interested#also she talks a lot about the nixon-kennedy debates in one chapter which I LOVE#because it really shows how this advancement in technology had this incredible impact on politics and how we perceive people#and if you look at how Zoom has shifted communication it's true! New technologies call for their own specific etiquettes!

So I know the quality sucks and we don't get any better quality to compare, but I just wanted to point out that, yes. Baby Carlo has freckles. Very few of them. But you can see the ones he had since he was a wee young lad standing out in his painting.
Go ahead and go into the game and stand in front of the portrait. Compare their faces. I'll wait c:
Here's a full/clean version of his portrait if you want to stare at it
So anyways like I was saying before--
#Lies of P#Lies of P Spoilers#The one my eyes immediately zoom in on... is the one right on his lip#Unmistakable little dark speck on his wittle lip ;; ;; just wanna poke it and give him cookies he is so baby I cry#But yeah. My whole thing from before yadda yadda children with brown eyes and clearer skin#developing blue ones and getting more freckles as they age blah blah y'know the drill LOL#This is mostly being done because I really hate the fact that people are like “Umm actually? He doesn't look that way.” on people's stuff#and being rude to others over it. So. Here's your proof. And if you don't like it? Sorry lmao#go into the game and stare at the painting. Tell me what you see. You'll see the faint freckles.#I don't care how people draw Carlo and honestly any interpretation is valid and very cute and very good#But do not bully others with false info because of a singular bad ending showcase of “Carlo” lol#That's all!! I'm done rambling in the tags!!! Smells mildly salty sorry LOL just. Y'know. Enjoy the damn game y'all.#And enjoy every version of this lad. Visual and written. We are given GIFTS by this fandom. Enjoy them!!

Hey! I can't remember if you ever found out what the red flower vines on Frank's house could be, but I think I found a candidate! It's called the Red Mandevilla Vine and their meaning is interesting
OHHH THAT'S THE BITCH!!! that's gotta be the bitch!!! i'm stuck between that one and the red trumpet vine, but i think you probably Got It. hopefully... god i'm gonna be chewing on this all night aren't i
if anyone is curious, this ask is referencing This Post i made about neighborhood observations / flower symbolism
#'feeling secure in the love we possess inside us rather than needing something from the outside to feel complete/whole'#give. gimme a second im. oh my god i. oh. um. WAILING#some other symbolism found from the mandevilla im seeing is#thoughtlessness/recklessness from one source#perseverence/determination from another#and the last im finding is strength/resilience/adaptability#i love how flower symbolism is like 'heres five different interpretations have fun'#i think all of em could fit frank perhaps? we'll have to see#rambles from the bog#wh speculation#motherfucker there was something else i wanted to say!!!#i had it primed to add on and then i went to type it and Poof! Gone From My Brain!!!#shit!!! im mad now. thats gonna bother me all night#sigh. anyway#the level of insanity im at is zooming in to count flower petals#which is very ridiculous of me#but still... looking real hard at those vine flowers and they could easily be either mandevilla or trumpet....#bc the way some of them are clustered look like trumpet... but also do they..... im losing my mind#rocking back and forth in a corner chanting 'its not that deep its not that deep'#But What If It Is. huh. What Then.

So, hey. How did you and your family celebrate Passover when you were a kid? How about now?
My Rhode Island aunt and uncle almost always hosted a big family Seder, and it was the absolute best. A good Seder is educational, food-filled, and legit fun—it's a ritual meal that includes storytelling, singing, prayers, and a general focus on including and teaching everyone involved, regardless of age or even whether attendees are Jewish. (If ever you're invited to a friend's Seder, go! Do not bring a challah, which my actually-bar-mitzvahed brother-in-law did once as an attempt at a thoughtful host gift. We still make fun of him.)
And my uncle (the same one who officiated at my wedding, and the wedding of my other sister) may well be the greatest host/leader there is; over the years he compiled from a medley of sources what added up to his own Haggadah (basically the guidebook to the Seder—there are a million published and informal versions working off the same template, with readings and activities and interpretations that can go kid-centric or feminist or traditional or whatever). It was always just insanely fun, and warm, and joyous, with incredible food and an increasing array of baked-in, just-us traditions.
Since I went to college basically down the street from their house, and then lived just an hour away in Boston for so long, that was pretty much the heart of my and my family's celebration most years—right up until Passover 2020, at which point the pandemic negated what had been plans to travel from our new home in Illinois for it, and they also downsized and had their own kids scatter geographically and gain very little ones, so that particular tradition is at best on hiatus now.
But there are fun Seders everywhere—well, the Zoom ones of the pandemic years were a mixed bag, but we've found friends who've make a good go of it, over the years, too, if not quite as an elaborately planned out hourslong celebration as my uncle would do. When I studied abroad in Denmark, Boyfriend and I went to an Orthodox Seder that was in a mix of Danish and Hebrew, for instance—that was novel, and so much of the procedure and the Hebrew was familiar enough to follow along.
Still working on exactly where we'll be for those two nights this year (we haven't really met any Jewish families in Pittsburgh yet to garner an invite, and none of the Reform or Conservative synagogues seem to have community events, which is surprising? And I don't really want to go to Chabad?) but we'll figure something out.
That said, as fun as the Seders can and should be, the rest of Passover is a slog of not eating bread or adjacent products, and experiencing whatever it is matzah does to one's digestive system over the course of a week. It's a meaningful observance, and the fact that the relevant rabbinical boards have stopped including rice and legumes in the "no" column in recent years has been great, but...it's ultimately a holiday recalling the story of the Exodus, and how we were slaves once, so, like, there are some less-fun elements. But the freedom celebration parts usually outweigh that!
#ask me ask me ask me#stpauligirl#passover#pesach#jews!#jewish holidays generally have fairly set observances and the details come down to your family/community/congregation#as well as interpretation and denomination and general religiosity#but basically anyone celebrating passover will be doing some seders and no bread and lotsa matzah#and no it will never stop being amusing how often goyim seem to enjoy eating matzah and how jews *always* eat an assload and do not enjoy i#i'm sure it's because it's an imposed week out of the year and not a novel cracker alternative but anyway#a potentially amusing sidenote:#boyfriend has been in the picture since the beginning of college and always came to the family seder thereafter#the first time he remembered that his mom told him not to go to someone's house empty-handed and procured (in lieu of flowers or whatever)#a moses action figure which then graced that seder table proudly from 2006 onward#'moshe rabenu' also made an obvious and necessary appearance at our wedding#and another tidbit for the jews here#the first covid seder i'd seen someone do this on the internet somewhere#and so for the zoom seder made a separate account labeled 'eliahu ha'navi' and had it request admittance at the appropriate moment#got a BIG laugh. still pleased about pulling that off.

We've been really struggling to settle on a character design for Alice in a Wonderland inspired/based project we're working on and we FINALLY landed on something we really like! - Nikkie
#I know she looks like she's scowling from a distance but I swear if you zoom in she is smiling!#She's supposed to be a more modern 2024 interpretation of Alice so keep that in mind#Also she's going to have different outfits for different parts of the project but this is her default outfit!#I think the bow pays perfect homage to the signature apron in OG Alice's design without being too much!#And ofc I wanted to incorporate some mushroom and butterfly motifs#The gold is honestly just for contrast since I don't want everything to be *too* cool toned#If it looks too homogenous it'll look boring so I wanted to add that splash of yellow and warm tones to make it more visually interesting!#Can you tell that we as a system really enjoy character design skjdfhsk#Also ignore the feet plz it's just a concept design and I didn't feel like drawing feet#Also fun fact Alice in Wonderland is one of our biggest Special Interests :)#Our best friend got us a physical copy of the original poems from both Alice's Adventures in Wonderland AND Alice Through the Looking Glass

For anyone just starting college or going back to college, if you do not already know this: many countries legally require reasonable accommodations for disability. This includes anxiety, depression, PTSD, and migraines among many, many others.
If you are struggling and think getting extra time to complete an assignment, need more absentee days than are allotted, or a quiet place to take exams would help you, reach out to your university's disability or accessibility resource department and ask for it.
#ymmv depending on which country you're attending school but most countries have some laws regarding this#there are a lot of accommodations to ask for depending on the situation but also depends on the school and the country#for example: deaf students can ask for interpreters#there are pens that record lectures when the student takes notes#video recording zoom lectures by default is another common one#note taking for other students is one i used to do#there's one that prevents professors from randomly calling on you in class#also remember your tuition probably paid for health and counseling services at your campus
