Coming in to recommend Ringing Fate again. Honestly, the main characters for Ringing Fate, their dynamic is a lot like Guangshi's. Cheng Xiaoshi and Ah Gan are childish, adorable, and very playful, while Lu Guang and Zhang San are serious and they insult the other a lot. They also both have white hair. It's kind of hard to explain, but their dynamics are very similar with the way they interact imo (+ both series have the same director). You can watch Ringing Fate on Youtube with subs.

One reason why I like this scene is that after Gan Ning came to rescue Ling Tong, he stayed on his spot in front of Zhang Liao, making sure Ling Tong is behind him. He protects, sob sob sob! <3

When Ling Tong, however, rushed in front of Gan Ning, saying he can handle this alone, Gan Ning calmly took few steps forward to settle himself side by side with Ling Tong before stating "It's not in my nature to leave a friend in trouble, tho." This confused Ling Tong so Gan Ning adds: "Yeah, friends. Everyone who fights on the same side should be friends."

Summary: Wei Wuxian braces himself for what might come next, the story of how this man died by the Yiling Patriarch's hand—at Nightless City, at the Burial Mounds, as the rest of the sects tried to bring that great villain to account. "What was his name?" Uncle Gan sits back, twiddles his thumbs as he thinks. "Well, it'd be Wei something, of course." "Wei Changze, wasn't it?" chimes in a new person, and if anyone agrees or disagrees, Wei Wuxian does not hear them. His wine bowl slips from his grip and the sudden clatter of it barely registers over the unexpected sounds of his father's name. Wei Changze, slipping so careless from a stranger's mouth here in small Taozi, here of all places under the open sky. Wei Changze. - Wei Wuxian meets his grandmother. No, not the immortal one. The other one. Kay's comments: The first comment under this story just read "Oh. Oh. This was heart breaking" and yeah. I couldn't have said it better. Absolutely heart-breaking, devastating and sad, but like in the best way possible. Not a happy story at all, but instead one that leaves you feeling as if your heart has been clawed open. The Untamed canon where Wei Wuxian accidently meets his grandmother, on his father's side of the family, during his post-canon travels, while he pines away for Lan Zhan. Surprise grandma, but he can't bring himself to burden her with the truth of who he is and so simply introduces himself as Mo Xuanyu. Excerpt: "Did your sect know they had a son? He was born here, in this house. Little a'Ying," she adds, effortlessly, thoughtlessly, smiling at him. The name in her mouth is unfamiliar, a warped version of those that have claimed him before. A'Ying is a child's name, the most childish of them, and although of course it's supposed to be his, he doesn't recall ever having been that. He's been a'Xian to shijie, to Uncle Fengmian sometimes, and he is Wei Ying to Lan Zhan now, nothing else. It's not a name he owns, and he does not like the way it lingers in the small space between them: innocent, untroubled, unaware, reaching for him and offering to tie him to this place. It's instinct to look away to avoid it, to busy his hands and his gaze with his teacup, to reach for the final cake. Yet he can't stop his hearing from betraying him, he can't not hear Zhang Rufen as she continues, "They always took him with them when they went wandering, all three of them were very stubborn. I used to tell Chang'er to leave the boy here with us, but neither he nor his wife would hear of it. He would not have been so much to feed, and we were doing better by then, we could have used another pair of hands to help with the orchards as he grew up." There it is again, this possibility, this other life, offered to him with fully unhesitant regard. He tries to avoid it, but it unspools in front of him, so bright and clear, almost tempting: the seasons, the harvest, the river, the cool moist soil settling under his nails and around them, working its indelible way into every groove of his fingers, a different sort of ink. Tending life, instead of rending it. A good life. Maybe it would have suited a'Ying, whoever that boy would have become.

finished the rise of kyoshi, here's my word vomit about it:

SPOILERS AHEAD !

• i LOVE how they treated lightning !!! that's probably my favorite part. looking at how lighting is revered in kyoshi vs how its so mundane in korra is just . so cool ???

• the sapphic representation made me eternally happy <3 even though i could have done with more (i'm a romantic at heart) seeing kyoshi and rangi being soft and close was sooo sweet. the lgbt rep in avatar really makes me feel represented and i hope we can see it more on screen

• the worldbuilding around the pre-existing worldbuilding is so cool !!! the si wong tribal traditions, the deep politics of the earth kingdom, the reverence of yangchen and kuruk, i loved it all ! also, loved the little references to the show, like the cabbage jokes + the gan jin vs the zhangs

• the fights were amazing. there were a couple times when i couldn't really comprehend what was going on, but i think that might be because kyoshi's bending is just like that. they went in a direction that was far more graphic and brutal than the show, but i feel like that was completely vindicated because kyoshi lived a graphic and brutal life

• jianzhu was a REALLY interesting villain! the overarching theme of good vs evil within the avatar universe played well with him. he is a man that thinks only of the good that will come while doing evil deeds, and kelsang mirroring him as a man who thinks of the evil he is doing despite knowing it will be good in the end is really great. nice foiling avatar

• kyoshi's element training seemed to go a little fast for me, but that might be because aang took three seasons to master the elements. but i don't know, kyoshi going from being an inept bender to suddenly being proficient in everything with minimal training was a big jump, even though it took like 300 pages

• i LOVED kyoshi's origins !! her parents being daofeis + her mom being an air nomad was super unexpected but a great way for the story to go. it really helped set her avatar journey apart from korra and aang

• i fully subscribe to the theory that lao ge is guru pathik btw . also the fact that they couldn't find the avatar for multiple years and then just pointed at some guy and was like "yeah that's him" is HILARIOUS to me

Thanks to my little brother, who had tagged me on Facebook, I now have seen Gan Ning in upcoming Dynasty Warriors Origins.

This is HUGE improvement to that horrible excuse of Gan Ning which I've seen here on Tumblr before BUT... *squirms and moans and groans and sighs and huffs* ... This is not Gan Ning. It's not bad look but... God. I miss his blond hair! Face hair is okay but I think he would look more like Gan Ning without it. I think the hair color makes most biggest difference. I mean right now he reminds me of Gladio from FF15! It looks more like if Gladio's head would had been slammed on Gan Ning's body!

Again, not bad look BUT it could be better. I don't hate this looks since it is improvement like I said but... This is not my Gan Ning. Something feels off, missing. Something big and important. Tho, perhaps if I stare at this long enough, I could grow up to like him. I mean it IS Gan Ning after all but... Yeah. I feel so overwhelmed and confused by this that I want to cry... For real.

Second thing: New English voice actor. Kaiji Tang. I listened some of his voice acting on Youtube and while he sounds good and all... I just can't see / hear him as Gan Ning. Only real English voice for Gan Ning is Michael Sinterniklaas. Thank GOD Japanese voice actor is STILL Hiroaki Miura BUT... but... Seeing this Gan Ning while hearing that lovely and familiar voice from previous Gan Ning's... I don't know how my brains can register and handle that.

Okay so you know how there are those edits going around with the song “Loathing” from the wicked musical/movie; well I wanna know why no one has made one with the two families in the ATLA episode “the great divide”.

I’m currently rewatching the show and the Zhang and Gan Jin families fit the vibe
