What he does care about is shit like this, where she's penned in by a bunch of her little fanclub members, who are both dumb as rocks, and lack any skill at flirting to begin with.

If you're gonna hit on someone like Quistis Trepe, you'd better have the ability to follow through.

She's very patient. (She puts up with too much shit, in his opinion; Quis ought to just laser eye the whole lot of them.)

He can't endure watching this anymore.

Quistis can't help the snort as half the group around her shrieks. She rolls her eyes, unsure if it's at them or at Seifer. "If it's wholesale murder, would I have to pay you?"

She's in a mood today, sue her. The balcony isn't good enough for half the pickup lines she just endured, it needs to be worse. She can't ACTUALLY condone murder, but perhaps her thinking about it will make them all reconsider. Or, they could be like Seifer, and think it's a turn-on, who knows?

but horror's a dick so everytime dust wants to smoke and he needs a light horror's always like "whats the password :3" (he actually said the emoticon i was the quotation marks) and dust has to guess. because horror changes it every time. and its never something predictable. and then he either just totally gives up on that cig or he has to forcefully dig into horror's head to get the lighter because horror's being a PRICK

now dust is shoulder deep into horror's eyesocket while horror is clawing and screaming and killer's just standing there behind them watching this unfold with that fuckass smile on his face (he can't get this type of entertainment anywhere else)

Very interesting to me that Abigail preferred Hannibal over Will, but Will had an emotional connection to her that Hannibal didn't - or at least not to the same extent.

I think maybe one day he could've found a stronger bond considering she had also killed and eaten people, but during the series she's really just a tool. Hannibal uses her to like... babytrap Will. And tbf it worked, Will didn't tell Jack what he knew when he discovered Abigail murdered that guy - if he was willing to cover for her, maybe eventually he'd cover for Hannibal too, the 3 of them too intrinsically tied for him to separate, I mean that's the trapping part. But she was just a means to an end, a relationship Hannibal nurtured for his own gain with Will....whereas Will really did view her as his daughter.

Very interesting to me...off-put by Will (especially towards the end of s1), but he had the most vested interest in her well-being out of the pair...

cql does not do a good job of sympathizing jzx and i stand by that until his death like he is one of, if not thee, blandest and most annoying characters in the drama. jc might be grating but at least he's got depth, at least he's proactive and meaningful in his regression... i'm sure the novel does a better job at making jzx seem marginally endearing but as it stands...what even is his "character development" beyond him choosing to stop being the world's biggest cunt to jyl. conveniently at the exact moment she wants to leave jinlintai to see wwx too don't think i forgot that! whatever diegetic reasoning you can ascribe to his intentions/behavior, the reality is that he just ends up embodying the status quo and all its corruption, his passive enactment of it becomes nearly active when he is constantly seeing it and doing nothing and yet he is one of the most powerfully positioned young sect heirs in the cultivation world. and i would actually use his attempt to protect mianmian from wc and his terrible gf as example of this. he speaks up in a moment when there is nothing else to be done, when the threat is ALSO to his own life, and it's still real comrade wwx who sacrifices himself to save her. because wwx is the blueprint for true heroism, which is literally part of the story's thesis. jzx is so unwilling to meaningfully sacrifice anything. later emphasized by mianmian's defection over her loyalty to wwx and jzx's inaction in the face of it despite mianmian having been HIS most loyal servant up until that point and that he himself can't be disinherited from his own sect. that's why the "but they were just being filial/they couldn't go against their sects" argument falls flat, because the story goes out of its way to prove that justice will require sacrifice, will be punished, and that personal risk isn't an excuse for complicity. which is also why lwj, the biggest and most sympathetic proponent of wanting to remain filial and righteous even when these things conflict, comes to regret his unwillingness to fully commit to actualizing those ideals the same way wwx did, even when lwj knew wwx was right about the wens. but every mildly heroic gesture jzx makes is so impotent and meaningless in context that i don't even register his death as a tragedy on its own lol it's just thematic punishment. when i thought wwx killed him i felt sooo bad...for wwx.

【ｂａｋｕｇｏ　ｋａｔｓｕｋｉ】

This man is solid. The only squish on him is his pecs (He doesn't even correct his friends when they call 'em tits, he's proud of it). He's 6'2 (188cm), not a giant but a decent height to tower over the rest of Japan. His arms and shoulders are broad, tapering down into a slim waist. His hands are large and calloused, veins on his forearms visibly winding into them. He widens back out around his ass and thighs, but they hold nowhere near the power of his upper body. He relies on that area completely for his fighting style and it shows. There's a subtle V line into his pelvis, paired with a trail of fine blond hair that he prefers to shave. Having extra body hair under his suit can be uncomfortable, especially when he works hours upon hours without breaks. He added an undercut to his style during his second year of UA for a similar reason and has kept it ever since. Most of his height comes from his torso and his legs are an average length. Though his thighs are nothing to laugh at, the muscles are impressive even for their lither shape. His scent is something reminiscent of gun smoke and a new car. He prefers baggier clothes, not aiming to draw attention when he's not in uniform. He's sexiest in black and he fuckin' knows it. His lobes are stretched to 18mm, and he has an industrial on his left ear. His nipples are pierced as well "Because fuck you."

【ｍｉｎａ　ａｓｈｉｄｏ】

She's taller than most of her female colleagues, 5'9 (175cm). With long legs and killer muscles, her lower half carries most of the weight during her hero work. Her muscle build and workouts are similar to that of a hockey player, with her go-to fighting move being to skate on a wave of acid. She has strong abs, helping to keep her balance when she's on unstable ground. She's an absolute powerhouse in the gym, out-squatting most of her coworkers. Her sidekicks love goading the fresh UA interns to challenge her to a spar. Her fingers are long and calloused, and when she's on a break from hero work she always has a set of nails on. Her arms are smaller, but nothing to scoff at. She focuses on fighting and boxing to train them, rather than bulking up. She smells like whatever gum she's currently chewing and she prefers Japanese street style clothes. She has basically every ear piercing you can think of, plus her nipples and naval. Her hairstyle has remained basically the same since school, although occasionally she'll buzz the sides during the warmer months.

【ｍｉｄｏｒｉｙａ　ｉｚｕｋｕ】

The shortest, densest, thickest man for miles (possibly galaxies). Topping out at 5'4 (163cm). His fighting style relies mostly on his legs and arms meaning his thighs alone could crush twenty men. He loves to attach himself to people like a bodybuilding koala as a greeting. He was blessed with monster calf genes, they tripled in size during his time at UA. His arms aren't quite as impressive as his legs but don't underestimate them. With the power of OFA, he can easily punch a villain into space. The hottest part about him, though? His confidence. His debut as a pro hero also kicked off his modeling career. Instead of curling in on himself, he announces his presence loudly. He fanboys without shame and flexes for his fans when they ask. He loves showing off his strength, picking his friends up at every opportunity, and carrying them around without breaking a sweat. His undercut and controlled curls help lessen his naïve appearance, though his freckled cheeks and forest-green eyes remain filled with boyish charm. He smells like coffee and old spice. He loves his dumb graphic tees, but his manager forces him into reasonable clothes when he attends events. He's famous for one suit in particular that frames his ass perfectly.

【ｏｃｈａｋｏ　ｕｒａｒａｋａ】

Short, thick, and stronger than you. At 5'2 (157cm) she can (and has) take on dozens of enemies at once with ease. Without her her quirk she's capable of lifting triple her body weight, and her back muscles make Bakugo jealous. Her thighs are capable of crushing basically anything you can put between them, and she regularly offers to open watermelons because it flusters everyone watching. Villains have taken one look at her and fled, she is that powerful. She's an anxious nail-biter and her cuticles are always messed up. Nail polish doesn't last an hour on her. She opted for a shorter haircut after second year, though her longer bangs remain with her signature style. She loves athleisure wear and can be found wearing leggings and muscle tanks 90% of the time. Rarely does she attend events she's forced to dress up for. Her stomach is soft and she has a naval piercing with a small planet charm dangling off of it that she never changes. She smells like flowers and rain.

【ｔｏｄｏｒｏｋｉ　ｓｈｏｕｔｏ】

One of the tallest in the former Class A, he stands at 6'5 (196cm), although Bakugo claims that's inaccurate. His muscles are lean and lengthy. His fighting style mimics Mina's, and his build is similar to that of a figure skater or swimmer. His abs are envied by all of Japan, and his V-line was the sexual awakening of millions. The carpet does, in fact, match the drapes, not that he advertises it. He grew his hair out after UA, and prefers to wear it loose or french braided down his back. His thighs and calves are lankier, and he focuses his workouts on speed and endurance rather than weightlifting. He's definitely the model of the group. Effortlessly handsome although his style is that of a 14-year-old boy. His stylist regularly steals the cargo shorts from his house, but he just buys more. He owns at least 30 v-neck t-shirts in every color he can find. His redeeming style quality is his hero suit, which was finally swapped out when he debuted to a more sleek design. He smells like a campfire in a snowstorm, more of one or the other depending on which side of him you're standing on. He has no piercings but several tattoos that his costume covers.

He did wanted to save people because how Miles inspired him in the class trial, and sure, saving him later became his final motivation (alongside Mia) but you know what I think?

Since childhood Miles was a big law nerd, so much that his dad worried he wouldn't be able to make friends, so much that he asked for a defense attorney's badged in Christmas, do you really think he wouldn't make a big deal about it to his friends? (Cuz he did, Phoenix talks about it, and they were friends for less than a year at last)

Do you really think that wouldn't influence Phoenix enough on its own?

Do you think Phoenix wouldn't become a Defense attorney just to work in the same office as Miles, when in the original line he did just for a CHANCE of meeting him again?

One reading of Fëanor that I haven't encountered yet but has recently become integral to my interpretation of the character and of the Fëanorian Oath (tho I'm sure I'm bound to find it somewhere if I do better research of academic databases and the Tumblr search system wasn't bullshit) is that Fëanor shouldn't have made the Silmarils in the first place.

One of the reasons I love this idea so much is that we know Fëanor does not care about should do, he cares about what he can do. "Enough" is a limitation, how far he goes, how excellent his craft is is not determined by notions like this. He would've made them anyway, even if Eru himself had told him not to.

I became of this idea when I was reading a series of theology essays about prophets in Jewish religiosity and history, as well as the Man-God relationship by Abraham Joshua Heschel. One of the essays is an address he made during the Civil Rights movement, in defence of it as an accomplice of racial liberation, and in it, while talking about racism and using religion to justify racism in an affront to God, he defines an Idol as "any god who is mine but not yours, any god concerned with me but not you, is an idol."

Aside from its context, it made me think of how the Fëanorian Oath changes the narrative around the Silmarils. We know they're sacred objects; so sacred Varda herself protected them. In this line, most of the reads/takes/interpretations about Fëanor and the Oath I have encountered revolve around either (a) him being justified in his pursue of what had been stolen from him because they're sacred objects; (b) interpretations about Fëanor's downfall rooted in his pride and direct Catholic/Christian interpretations of Genesis.

Starting with the latter, I've never liked those interpretations not because Tolkien's religiosity did not affect his world building, but because imo they are less concerned with the story in itself and the narrative relationships between themes, characters, actions and environment, and more with making Tolkien stories into fables, as if he was writing the moral reimagining of Paradise Lost. Man's a lot of things but he is a novelist through and through. He's not writing a fable.

Another reason I don't like them is because they forgo simpler, much more tangible interpretations between Tolkien characters and what is Holy, Sacred or Godly in the Legendarium, but also with religion in general: that not bringing harm onto others, because you recognise life in others as a manifestation of what is Holy, isn't about the great moral deeds of misdeeds of the Reprehensible and the Punishable but in the neutral. In the small things. In the not holding yourself as the only measure of the world and being curious enough to be open to others. You don't need to be Great to do this. This isn't about the Great Kings and Great Elves and the Names Which Go Down In History, but the everyday people, concerned with every day things, which is a huge theme in Tolkien.

This is when the Silmarils become idols, this is why he shouldn't have created them even if I know and love that he would've done it anyway. Because even as Varda put her hands on them to protect them, Fëanor is not the owner of the light of the trees. Who is Fëanor to command who gets access to the light of the trees and who doesn't? Who is Fëanor to decide who is worthy of their light and who is not? That is not his prerogative, and never will be. The Oath confirms the opposite, whoever: that the light is his and of whom he decides are worthy, and before the Oath, his resentment against other elves and the Valar about them being taken too.

Which takes me to the the other interpretation. He's justified to go after them because they're religious, sacred objects. And I agree! They are. And they're also still idols. The Fëanorian Oath still turns the light of the trees into something of only some are worthy, concerned with Fëanor and his descendents and no one else. Because if it were for the sake of the holy value of the Trees themselves, why act against other elves? Why make your children swear to take them from, by any means, from even the Valar and Eru himself? He was like this even before Melkor got in the picture.

If Fëanor had kept the secret, like Aulë when he created the dwarves, and Eru had confronted him about it, do you think he would've given them away? I don't think he would've. And even if they weren't sacred, Fëanor still had no special right over the light of the trees, or do great corporations, political tyrants or the like own the sun? Should they own water, the housing markets, food, healthcare, education, and all of the things people need to live?

This is why he shouldn't have created them in the first place. Because even if the elves did not revolve so heavily around God (which is a thing for another time) light isn't his to own. Light does not need to sacred or hold religious significance for it not to be his to own. I assure you that if, in real life, someone began trying to charge us for being under the sun (and honestly some corporations and political decisions already kind of try) we'd be rightfully pissed.

If I was an elf and Fëanor told me I couldn't partake in the light of the Trees because he was better than me, and because he was the only one who could even do a feat like preserving it, I would tell him to fuck off and to realise that if he hasn't noticed, the fruits of the Trees give light for free, what is he gonna do? Build an enclosure around them? lol, lmao even.
