Sleep Mode - Cyborg 009 [ Alpha-Numeric ]

A little drabble I did with my Cyborg 009 OC, Ashley! I figure she ends up really fond of Ivan because baby!! So... here's a thing! And so far all of her relationships are platonic!

Ashley groaned, hearing the voices of her friends grow louder as they fussed with each other, even over her humming. Although she could just make out the voices, she couldn't figure out what was being said. So time to investigate! 

She opened the door to the room she'd claimed as hers, and the voices instantly became clearer. 

"-on Ivan! Stop being difficult!" Jet complained, the first voice she could make out clearly. 

She wasn't part of the conversation, so she's not sure what Ivan responded with, but she has a feeling that it wasn't relenting to whatever is being asked of him. 

"I still say we should try one of my-"

"No, G.B., we are not letting you put on a whole show to try and get him to sleep. Even if it’s good for boring someone to sleep." 

G.B. threw his hands up in frustration “None of you have any taste!” He grumbled, seeming to give up on the situation and storming out of the room, nearly running into Ashley on the way out. 

“Oh, Ashley! Perfect timing! Do you think you could help?” He pleaded, even taking her hands into his own with a firm squeeze and hopeful look. 

“What’s going on?” Ashley asked, peeking into the room finally to see Ivan now in Chang’s arms, being rocked to… less than successful results. 

“Ivan’s being fussy and even admitted he’s tired, but he’s fighting every attempt we make to get him to sleep. Chang’s already tried ensuring he’s well fed, his diaper is fine, and lullabies aren’t working! Francoise is resting after last mission, so we can’t ask her for help either…” 

Ashley gently freed her hands from G.B.’s grip to go over, gently offering to take Ivan from Chang, who passed over the fussy cyborg with ease and relief. 

“Why don’t you want to sleep?” She asked, settling Ivan against her chest so he’d be well supported. 

Ivan was quiet, as though not wanting to answer. Or perhaps trying to figure out how best to verbalize it? Who knows, with this group. Probability was high for either answer. 

So she waited, taking to swaying absently as the others watched her, G.B. even biting his nails anxiously. 

“I don’t want to be asleep if something happens.” Ivan eventually answered telepathically, Ashley finally being allowed into the entirety of the conversation. 

“Ahh that makes sense.” Ashley hummed. “Anxiety sucks like that. But you don’t need to worry.” She reassured, giving him a smile. 

“But-”

She cut the psychic off before he could continue. “No buts. You have nothing to worry about. The probability of anything happening right now is extremely low, less than a single percent. And even should something happen, do you anticipate this being one of your longer sleeps?”

Ivan still didn’t seem convinced, his cheeks puffed out uncertainly around his pacifier. 

“As much as we are recuperating, so is Black Ghost.” She reminded “They know we’re licking our metaphorical wounds, and are unlikely to attack. As a result, they aren’t likely to try and provoke us. And even if they should, we’re still good about keeping watch.” 

“Everyone needs rest, you’re all exhausted.” Ivan countered, at least not fussing as much as he had been with the others, much to their relief. At this point, they’re just watching this conversation unfold in awe, and a bit of jealousy. Of course he settles down for Ashley after pitching a fit for the three of them. 

Ashley just quirked a brow at Ivan, moving to sit down on the couch. “You’re exhausted too, Ivan.” She countered, her tone gentle but firm. She continued to sway slowly as she thought, absently patting his back as she thought. “How about this, I’ll take watch. I won’t be sleeping anyways, so it’s the most productive use of my time. And I can keep you with me, so you can be the first to know if something happens.” She offered. 

Ivan didn’t have any arguments to that, seeming to relent as he leaned into her chest more properly. 

“I thought so.” She laughed softly, switching to rubbing his back as she situated an extra blanket around him, turning her attention to the guys. “Do one of you mind giving me a lift to the roof in a bit?” She asked. “I’m going to go grab my music, then head outside”

G.B. gave her a playful salute. “But of course! Are you sure you’ll be okay up there?”

Ashley waved her hand slightly to dismiss the concern. “I’ll be fine.” She reassured “Like I said, I’m going to be awake anyways. You three go get some rest.” 

Jet and Chang both obediently went to get some rest, since Ivan was clearly handled. Ashley went up to her room and grabbed her music player and a light jacket, situating them around Ivan and his blanket. She went out to the front yard, where G.B. was waiting. 

Once he saw her, he transformed into a spring, anchored on the roof. She carefully grabbed onto him, allowing herself to be pulled up to the roof, only managing to land steadily through practice, and G.B. maneuvering himself juuuust to be careful. Ashley’s not the most cautious, after all. 

Once reaching the roof, she took her station at the top, ensuring that Ivan was secure and comfortable against her chest. She put on one half of the headphone, looking around to ensure she has a good view of everything. 

“Thank you for the lift, G.B.” She said, looking to him once she was sure that she was settled. “You go get some rest too, okay?” 

“Alright. But if you need anything, don’t hesitate to ask. We’re just a shout away.” G.B. reminded, getting ready to hop down once he got his acknowledgement that she did hear him. When she nodded and gave a playful two fingered salute, he nodded in return and hoped down from the roof to go inside. 

After hearing G.B. head inside, Ashley waited a few moments longer before speaking again. “You can relax now, Ivan.” She spoke softly, still looking around on alert. “Everyone is resting, and safe inside. I’m on watch, and you’re right here with me. Safe, but close enough that I can wake you first if something happens. You know as well as I that I won’t be sleeping at least until after breakfast anyways, so you don’t have to worry about me falling asleep on the job or anything either.” 

Ivan hummed and snuggled closer, letting himself relax more at her words. She’s not wrong after all. She’s no psychic, but he can’t deny that her analysis hit the nail on the head this time. 

She started to quietly hum along to her music, her arms wrapped securely around him with a light squish. Having him close, being able to feel him breathing under her arms and through the blankets, honestly helped her own anxiety. She’s not having to look around frantically, jumpy at every tiny noise. 

She’s not sure how long it takes for her to check on him again properly, but she’s relieved to see him sound asleep, and without fuss. Good. 

At least one of them will be well rested come morning. And she has a sneaking suspicion she’ll feel rather refreshed for once too.

Robin!Duke Thomas headcanons/rewrite because i'm in my feelings about him.If you think Duke's not a 'core Batkid' DNI and take your segregation somewhere else

He's the 5th Robin instead of Damian and The Riddler plot still happened but Elaine and Doug got jokerized during it so Bruce adopted Duke way earlier and he was 11 at the time

He is also trans,autistic,femme and afropunk!!2nd and 4th are canon coding but it's explicit here.Egg cracked pre-meeting Bruce so trans Batdad gets trans Batson gender affirming care like puberty blockers and makes sure nobody misgenders him.His Robin suit is Tim's Btas suit for proper repurposing,though it's adjusted from tighties to shorts and the pants/leg parts are ripped and the gloves are fingerless for that alt look

Duke employs his powers in his Robin work and it earns him the nickname 'The Robin Signal' in reference to how often he uses his light to guide citizens to safety after him and Bruce take out the danger

Duke got exactly one year as Batman's Robin.On his one year adoption anniversary,him and Bruce had a fight over a case that scared him so bad he thought he was gonna fire him like he'd done to Stephanie so he ran away in the dead of night,straightup out of Gotham City(he was also smart enough to pack an oversized backpack of essentials to carry with him).He was found as the sun set as he tried to sleep in a cat alley with a family of fat calico cats he'd been taking care of on his lap by a 20 year old Jason,his departure taking place during Volume 2 of Red Hood and The Outlaws,a 2010-2020 release 120 issues run that takes place over 3 in-universe years.They have a short conversation that leads to Jason finding out Duke is his brother and combined with knowing he has nowhere else to go at the moment and Summer's(my dcsona)yapping about him thanks to their friendship,takes him with him to The Fortress,The Outlaws' base.Duke joins the team and finally makes friends his age in the other Kid Outlaws(which includes other black kids of all genders!!)but Jason is the member he's closest to

Luna comes in a significant amount of Rhato issues and even enough to be an honorary Kid Outlaw but mostly sticks to Aquafam stuff to avoid reducing her down to Duke's love interest.Duke isn't forced to kill but is a brutalist in his tactics thanks to growing up beating up bullies,Bruce's training and the influences around him and it scares him sometimes so he vents and asks for reassurance and they all gladly give it to him,including Luna,who tells him:'You could never be a monster or evil,Duke.You'll always be my best friend in the ENTIREST MULTIVERSE.And even if you were a monster or evil?I'd save you.You saved me when i didn't know i needed somebody to be heroes with to go on.I'd go there-ANYWHERE! for you too'Least to say,Duke is pretty sure this is the point he started seeing Luna in a different light(a girlfriend light.From 'I need her' to 'I need her to be my babygirl')(in the aave way.don't be weird)

The Kid Outlaws are a bunch of punk ass kids with a thirst for anarchistic justice,the fall of the crime system and extra thick milkshakes.They got the punk drips(including piercings done by the adult Outlaws!!)and everything and call eachother siblings and Duke is their leader despite being the youngest as he's the most capable and suited for the job.The KO includes Thad so they're kinda a 'sparkly sunshine boy/bad but sad boy' buddies duo and their inhereted powers and legacies are a source of bonding along with just liking eachother as people.Duke calls him 'The Thadman' and Thad had no choice but to warm up to it and Thad gets Duke to try out energy drinks with him and they collect trinkets and graffiti public property together and them and Jason are Prime Earth's variant of that picture of three black trans guys who just got their top surgeries all smiling together with bandages on their upper bodies

Duke and Jason are so inseperable.They do soul bounding over soul/dominican food(their 'this and yap' /hj),help eachother with hair care(Duke has a twists out and Jason is a dreadhead),are inside jokes lockout between them and their girlfriends,share a bed more often than not,play Animal Crossing religiously together and even got matching icons in The Outlaws group chat(set to Aang and Zuko because they're literally them!!'If we knew eachother back then,do you think we could have been friends,too?' is how Duke feels about Robin!Jason to Red Hood!Jason,,,,,).Jason loves Duke so fucking much and can't stop himself from doting on him and hyping him up nonstop and encouraging him to stop holding back his rage and impulses and jumping people for him and stealing/diy'ing gifts for him a lot and Duke does the classic 'i make fun of you to show you i think you're the coolest ever and how important you are to me' little brother moves to Jason and is protective of him back as he feels he deserves it after all he's done for him and will eternally do for him,most of all making him feel secure in his Robinhood(ha!!)

All the overexposure to so much and such intense science-y proterties and magic jazz and trazz caused Duke's powers to mutate from just dark and light powers to straight up reality warping(to add onto them-he still has his og power palette,it's too iconic to leave out).He gets stuck in a pocket dimension for a hot sec but Summer and Jason pull him out with Thad's help as an expert on that situation.The universe was trying to create the New 52 but Duke's Robinhood was stopping it so in a 20 issue arc to symbolize the 20 core Outlaws aka the 'Outlawed Robin Arc',even the slimest posibility of the N52 ever happening is erased headfirst headon by our titulary gang!Including Honorary Outlaw for two and a half months at the time Tam aka Batgyal!She awoke from her RR2009 coma and it lead to escapades of adventures with both Tim and Stephanie and she was given her own mantle by Luke,who thought it was about time she joined him officially and was her secret keeper on her vigilante life and sneak offs to reunite with Duke as her initial only motivation

In issue 39,Jason snarks he was just 'The Replacement Robin' and Duke defensively cuts him off with 'You were always my favorite Robin when i was little!I never even got to see you in action but you're my favorite for good now!' and Jason is struck clueless,completely unable to come up with a response but touched beyond words on top of his shock.And in issue 110,Duke sadly says '.........I was never a real Robin.I've been with you guys way longer than i ever was with Bruce-' and Jason cuts him off with 'Yeah,no shit you were never Batman's Robin.You're The Outlaws' Robin-You're my Robin and you always have been and you always will be' and Duke gets extremely teary but does a toothy grin too as they're happy tears so Jason smothers him in a hug in comfort and Duke's face takes up most of the final page and a text box reads on the same one:'Duke Thomas is happy.Jason Todd is happy again,thanks to him.They're eachother's Robin,on purpose and by choice'

When Rhato concludes(and The Outlaws stay in touch forever),Duke comes back to Gotham to discover Damian's now Robin and literally laughs at the ridicilousness of the situation,quipping he's glad he already had a new mantle in mind and offers him a hat he thrifted when they meet,along with a smile and affection in his eyes.Damian snatches it from him,huffy and embarrased over the unexpected warm welcome by him but appreciate it and liking the hat only in secret(a yellow one with floppy cat ears strings and an edgy styled strawberry charm).Robins and Batgirls(2022-2023)was a helluva run starring Dick,Jason,Tim,Stephanie,Duke,Damian,Maps,Babs,Cass,Tam,Alysia and Nell and Jason's the only one who got thirst trap covers as it should be(Okay that's a lie,there were Stephcass thirst trap covers too LMAO.Faggot rights!!)

Duke has two core runs post-Robin:The Signal(2020-)and The Lights(2021-),the latter of which is his own team!!The members are Luna as Moonguide and his right-handwoman,Kiran Singh from the Wonderfam,Tanya Spears aka Power Girl ||,Jenni Ognats/XS,Mar'i Grayson/Nightstar,Jennifer Williams/Batika,Sin Harper as Arrowette ||| and the team baby,Darla Dudley as Shazam Girl and two upcoming ocs,a black male Star Sapphire who had his heart broken by a white girl💔and an X-Gene mutant from Earth 616 who ran away from their home dimension!!Duke's reputation as Robin proceeds him as it increases the shenanigans both in his civillian life and as The Signal and Thomquez are my fave classic black love tropes:'Thick baddie who stays keeping her mans fed' and 'Cocky ahh and playful but sweet and soft black dude who accidentally comes across as mocking x Nerdy feminine black girl who's not mean but pretends to be annoyed by his flirting with her because she's too embarrased to admit she actually likes him'.They do matching superhero names as adults to show they're married:Eris(Duke)and Selene(Luna)

Naturally,Duke is enrolled at Gotham Academy at now 15 and he mentors Maps when she comes along,including playing his game of Batwingman for her and Damian.Big hit with the GA girlies but unfortunately for them he only likes Luna and dudes who're mean to him(Woah,he's bisexual!I knew that!Also a Sonic The Hedgehog fan and his faves are Amy Rose,Shadow The Hedgehog and Sticks The Badger and he stans Penny Parker and draws gijinka fanart.Before i forget he also had his own youtube channel pre-Rhato and all his subscribers thought he died and he became a Creepypasta-)

And Batburger is his childhood happy place dating back to pre-Jokerization.He still visits Doug and Elaine and met Gnonom in Rhato only to pull a Percy Jackson and be spiteful and tell him off for his abandonment with zero forgiveness but realistically was still sad and hurt over his neglect so he let himself cry when he got back to The Fortress so Jason and Summer took him to Batburger to cheer him up and that led to his first visit to his parents in a long ass time.It and Batburger trips are part of his lifestyle obligatorily bi-monthly now

Oh the Gotham Police still hate him btw.He does all the work they gaslight people into thinking they do and none of the racism and assaults😔

so people have been wondering why caitvi is a lot less popular now within the arcane fandom than ships with timebomb or jayvik and as someone who ships them let me explain mostly why this is happening, of course mostly from the writing perspective as there is likely some misogyny included in said reason but thats just what ive heard and not seen (this does NOT mean it isnt happening though). and im also not including it because im just addressing why even some caitvi shippers (that i know) ended up not caring for it in s2

first off im stating that this is just a combination of what ive seen from other people and my own opinions. in your opinion these points can be completely dogshit and thats okay because they're opinions. not fact. with that being said lets get started.

1. Tension, s2 act 2 kills almost ALL of the tension that the first act sets up. in the first act you have them getting together, you have them finally kissing and breaking the previous tension in s1 then to keep people interested in the ship in the same episode they have them breakup. and this works people talked a SHIT ton about this and were going feral over it, looking at the trailer and seeing 'oh look at emo vi and her dictator gf!!' and even the 'there are two ways to handle a gay break up' memes. it was all over.

people were feral, waiting for the next act to see them interact and have beef with each other (before inevitably getting back together because we all knew it would happen). but in act two we dont really get that. we get the aftermath from vi's perspective and kinda cait's???? but then we have their interaction and people are hyped at this moment. because this is the moment. the one that they were all waiting for and there's a small scuffle before... it stops.

vi calls cait cupcake and... all if forgiven rather quickly in that scene (obviously in act 3 they have some more drama but we'll talk about it later). they have their moment and its cute. you have cait folding after being called cupcake, its cute. but thats just the thing. its nothing else but cute. there are still stakes dont get me wrong but that moment is just... so bad for cait's character. she has the whole dictator arc and it just takes vi calling her a pet name for her to switch sides.

and yes its adorable, its everything you want in a ship. but it doesnt really make sense when you take in account everything that they've been building up for cait. her dictator arc, her gassing zaun, training with ambessa, losing her mother, breaking up with vi. it all seems undermined by vi calling her a petname and all of the sudden the tension is taken out of their relationship.

they get back together (sorta) and help plan to take down ambessa and that's all it took. its like having a really evil villain who did a ton of bad things but the good guy gives them a pep talk (vi doesnt even do that) and all of the sudden their mind changes completely

it's not realistic, it doesn't make sense.

then you have act 3 and where vi actually confronts cait about ambessa and her going along with her actions and they have a small argument thats kinda just resolved by cait saying that she knows what she did wrong and that she tried helping jinx not get arrested too and then BAM there's a shift in the argument and then we're back to jinx and it never gets brought up again (correct me if im wrong)

their relationship follows this, happy moment, create something that causes tension, build up tension, refuse to follow through.

its like its tightening a string on an instrument to get a tone but before you pluck it the string loosens and all of the sudden you get this really really dull and kinda disgusting sound that doesn't leave you feeling 100% satisfied in the end

or if you're an artist almost filling in a circle completely but at the last second you color just a little bit outside the lines. it's not satisfying.

2. The sex scene, this is just mostly stuff ive seen and while i dont agree with all of it i must say that they do have their valid points of thinking that the scene was a little misplaced. most of the complaints of seen of this is that vi was out of character and that she should've been looking for jinx since it was implied that jinx was going to kill herself to 'fix' everything. and while i dont think vi couldve really known this i do see where theyre coming from as vi is inherently protective of jinx and her actions and even if there was the slightest chance that she might harm herself vi would do anything in her power to stop it and... she just doesnt.

when cait unlocks the cell she doesnt rush out to jinx, she just wallows a bit longer and mopes (WHICH IS FUCKING VALID BTW). then you have cait talk to her and... SEX. yeah there is other stuff between that but some people felt that they shouldve had them have their talk and then had vi rush out to help jinx.

a lot of people also felt that cait was taking advantage of vi in this moment (i do NOT agree with this at all) to an emotional extent and saying how the scene didnt feel right because vi wasnt in her best state (i agree slightly with this) and that the sex in the cell wasnt really reclaiming anything from all those years of being in the cell like the directors originally intended it to

then you have people saying that it was misplaced (and i kinda agree) and that it just felt so sudden for the both of them especially considering everything with them and then there's the next reason...

3. Caitlyn herself, there was so much drama about her character. in the first arc you have people defending her actions and who were ready to die for her and people getting mad at her, saying she was the worst and that she didnt deserve vi after what she did to her. this also comes with her character being set up to do a lot of evil shit in the future. there was drama (when is there not) and that meant the majority of people loved or hated her with a slim minority not really caring her for at all.

she was implied to have gassed zaun (actually its not even really implied as she, vi, and the gang do it that one episode in a montage and they actually show them doing it for like... a scene or two) and overall just have been a really shitty person to zaunites. she slept with maddie (which people HATED) and they kept leading up to her being the big bad the person who vi would have to convince but once again... they meet and all tension is ruined.

cait's character is one of the best and worst things in arcane. they did such a good job setting her up only to fumble last second and yeah... thats enough to effectively kill a ship as one half of it is the other character (assuming is a monogamy ofc) and 50% is not passing. people arent going to be as committed to a ship when they hate the other character in it and thats just a fact

4. Time, it just... didnt work. timebomb got a full episode (practically) devoted to it and jayvik was kinda in there as crumbs. not to mention that their entire arc is sprinkled a lot more effectively and more long lasting throughout s2 of arcane. with timebomb THEY GOT A WHOLE EPISODE

people already like both characters of ekko and jinx so yeah theyre going to go feral over what coudlve been. the dance, everything and it effectively builds up tension with showing us how good everything couldve been and fully releases it in a satissfying way with ekko's leave. with jayvik you have him going insane and realizing that he has to kill viktor in order to stop what happens in the future (GIVING US THE ANSWER TO WHAT HAPPENED IN EP6 and this also gives us more tension in the relationship when viktor comes back).

you have ekko stopping jinx from ending her life (another reason people didnt like the sex scene cause jinx was actively trynna off herself during it) and telling her to give living another chance because you can build something more you can start again. and you also have the implications of them drawing on themselves in the artbook and just in general during the show. you have the hot air balloon contraption that they create. its everything

jayce then meets with viktor in the room and there is tension so much tension and it all goes to them. then you have jayce confronting and giving himself to viktor on the battlefield and its so well written. now, personally i have my issues with how jayce talk not jutsu-ed viktor into stop being evil or whatever (personally that scene was like a 6/10 for me). "BUT WAIT WHAT ABOUT YOUR COMPLAINTS WITH VI AND CAIT AND CAIT FOLDING AFTER BEING CALLED CUPCAKE?!?!" they would be lessened if we were shown them talking and discussing what happened, what went wrong. with them we dont do that, we dont get the release of them regretting what they've done, their actions. that declaration of love.

with jayvik we do (love can be interpreted as romantic or platonic) and they probably spend more time in that scene talking about each other and how much they care for one another than caitvi do in the entirety of s2 when it comes to discussing their relationship.

basically what happened was that the writers confirmed 'yes theyre canon now, nothing else is going to happen to them. okay time to focus on other things' and caitvi got sidelined SO HARD in the end that come people stopped caring for them entirely and put more attention to ships and dynamics that were getting more attention and love from the show.

Reverse Unpopular Opinion: Amy Madison

[Reverse unpopular opinion meme.]

This is an interesting one because I think there’s a solid argument to be made that the character of “Amy Madison” does not, in fact, actually exist on the show Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

By which I mean … look, okay, yes, obviously, there is a character in an early Season 1 episode called Amy Madison, played by Elizabeth Anne Allen.  And there’s a character with the same name in a Season 2 episode, and [in an admittedly weird coincidence] she’s also played by Elizabeth Anne Allen.  And there’s one in Season 3, and a one in a few episodes of Season 6, and one in an episode of Season 7, and all of them are played by the same actor.

But … I mean, come on.  There’s no way these can all be the same character, right?  They don’t have the same basic back story or the same relationship to magic or to Willow; they certainly don’t have anything resembling a definite personality or set of motivations or a consistent character arc.  No, surely what’s going on here is that there are several different “Amy Madisons” in Sunnydale – just like there are several different characters called Anne or Nancy on the show – and in a bizarre in-joke the writers simply decided to cast the same woman to play all of them.

Now, ordinarily, simply being written inconsistently over a handful of episodes and not having anything resembling the same personality from week to week would be no obstacle to having a few die-hard fans.  But – as far as I can tell, anyway? – there’s no “fandom Amy” either.  She never really gets mentioned when people want to talk about how all the Scooby Gang had awful mothers [even though Amy actually did, explicitly and inarguably, have a very, very awful and openly abusive mother!].  There’s very little in the way of Amy/Willow shipping going on here or on AO3 [even though witchcraft is heavily coded as a metaphor for being a lesbian and Amy, one of the first witches we meet on the show, is repeatedly linked to Willow throughout the show’s run].  There are no adorable drawings of Amy as a rat staring out of her cage at Willow and Tara (or if there are, they aren’t getting as many notes as they should be getting).  

No, it looks like most people who are still watching and talking about the show twenty-five years later have about as much interest in poor Amy Madison as the writers did.  She’s a plot device.  A punchline.  A cipher.  A blank slate.  She’s whatever the plot requires her to be to further the stories of the actual characters on the show, and she’ll never ever be anything else.  Which is a little sad, if you think about it.  I think Amy – or, well, most of the different Amys: The Killer In Me’s smirking evil-for-evil’s-sake Amy I’m not so sure about – deserved better.

[As I write this the thought occurs to me, belatedly, that I might be one of Amy Madison’s biggest fans.  Pretty grim news for her if so.]

OK. Enough stalling.  Five positive things about Amy Madison [with, as ever, the usual caveat about the comics, which I’ve still not read anything about and still don’t exist].

Witch, Amy’s debut appearance, is a solid episode!  One of that season’s best, I think (though not, of course, one of its very best).  And I think the duo of Elizabeth Anne Allen's Amy Madison (and Robin Riker as her mom Catherine) is a big part of why that episode works: no, they haven’t got a huge amount to work with, but I think they both do a pretty good job switching between evil witch Catherine and innocent victim Amy.  Catherine’s bodyswap spell foreshadows (albeit unintentionally) the bodyswap artifact that the Mayor gifts Faith in This Year’s Girl / Who Are You? and I’ll always have a soft sport for it because of that.  And I really like that the episode ends with Amy alive and hanging out with Buffy in a way that suggests that they are going to stay friends, even if we don’t see any evidence on screen that that happened.

Sarcasm aside, I’m really glad the writers brought Amy back in the second season.  To me, part of the appeal of the high school years are the recurring minor characters – I talked about Principal Snyder before, but also Jonathan and Devon and Percy and Harmony and … yes, Amy too.  The show obviously doesn’t care about her very much, and you have to do a lot of mental gymnastics to fill in the missing pieces of her story and make her arc make sense (why is she starting to do magic in Season 2?  When does she start hanging out with Willow?), but … well, I do care and I have done those gymnastics.  At least Amy didn’t end up like Marcie Ross or Buffy’s old flame Owen or any of those poor kids who must remember eating Principal Flutie. 

I’ve been reading a few old interviews Elizabeth Anne Allen gave recently (here and here, for example) which I think have some pretty interesting insights into how the character of Amy developed.  Had you ever heard there were persistent rumors at one point that Amy was going to be one of the starting regulars on Angel?  It’s mind-boggling to think about a world where that happened.  Allen seems to have put a huge amount of thought into her character, too, at least for her first few appearances, which … uh, I guess makes me feel a bit shitty about those opening paragraphs. [Not enough to delete them though…]  Also in one of the linked interviews she says that she “hopes she won’t be a rat much longer” – and that’s an interview she gave before the Season 3 finale had even made it to air, which made me pretty sad to read.  Forget appearing on Angel, imagine if Amy had been de-ratted in Season 4.  Imagine if Superstar was about Amy instead of Jonathan.

There is a second or two in Season 6’s Smashed – no more than that – when Buffy and Amy are catching up again (“How have you been?”  “Rat.  You?”  “Dead.”  “Oh.”) and you can, if you’re quick, delude yourself into thinking that the show is going to do something interesting with the obvious parallel it’s just set up. Willow has now not only brought Buffy back into the regular human world [and left her struggling to live and find meaning as a college drop out with a dead mother and an absent father last seen on screen about five years ago], she’s also brought Amy back into the regular human world [and left her struggling to live and find meaning as a de facto high school drop out with a presumed-dead mother and a presumably-now-absent father last mentioned about five years ago].  Surely this must be deliberate?  Well, no: the show doesn’t do anything with this idea ever again, because Marti Noxon had very different [worse] ideas for Amy’s character this season, but if you pretend it might be about do something like that it’s a pretty exciting couple of seconds.

The fact that “Amy Madison” exists as a (technically!) canon character means that I can write (or daydream about writing) fanfiction in which Willow has a friend in high school who is also a practising witch. One with a vague but miserable home life, who is secretly in love with Willow but too afraid to admit it (and so she keeps professing to be interested in men who she can’t possibly ever expect to date, either because they’re unpleasantly vile toward women or openly gay or both). And I can do that while, just about, pretending that I have not created the most embarrasingly psychologically revealing OC you ever heard about in your life.  Thanks Amy!

Rambling about Che’nya/Idia/Ali because I don’t talk about them enough </3 I still don’t have a ship name for them 😔

- Che’nya and Ali were fast friends since they met in first year, and started dating in their second year! They were initially both nervous to bring up being poly to each other and then it was basically the Spider-Man meme lmao. As long as they communicate they’re both fine if they date other people!

- Ali is super forward in basically any relationship—friendship OR romance—so yeah she would totally just see Idia, go “oh he looks like one of my fav book characters” and then immediately ask him out. She’s not particularly shy about asking people out on dates—that’s how you get to know people, right?

- Che’nya was initially just gonna cheer him on but then he saw Idia and was like, wait actually…. so he went too lmao 😭

(neither of them just EXPECT other people to date both of them, they’re both just really forward so they might as well ask him out and see what happens.)

- Idia thinks they’re playing a prank on him of course. And yet somehow they weasel his number out of him. And add him to a group chat. And then are texting him every day? And encouraging him to go on rants about things he likes? And consistently flirting with him? ….this must be a VERY long joke.

- Ali rambles about her interests so often and with no hesitation and Che’nya still seems happy with him (even when it sounds like complete nonsense), so Idia then feels a bit less scared to do so to.

- Che’nya is good at video games! Sort of. He’s good at the technical aspects of them, although he sometimes gets bored while playing.

- Ali is NOT good at video games but loves the story heavy ones.

- together they make the worst backseat gamers ever. ESPECIALLY IF THE GAME HAS MULTIPLE ROUTES.

- Idia believes only Ali is interested in dating him at first and that Che’nya is just sort of taking pity on him and being supportive of his partner. At one point Ali has to cancel last minute but the two of them are already there, so Idia is like: “well, should we… leave?” to which Che’nya looks at him in absolute horror.

- “WE’VE BEEN DATING THIS WHOLE TIME TOO??” “YES??”

- the wonderland pair constantly hype Idia up to like. an insane degree. They WILL forcibly raise his self esteem, it WILL happen.

- Ali gets into cosplay because of Idia, which is… exceptionally bad for his heart lol. Stop dressing like his favorite characters!!! He’ll die!!

- Che’nya understands both Ali’s weird riddle-like way of speaking AND Idia’s geek internet speak, meaning he is the only translator for them sometimes. However, no one can translate for Che’nya, so he gets to maintain his “reputation of nonsense” (his words)

- sleepovers are the best dates for these three, except when to actually go to bed. near impossible.

- they argue about who to date in otome games constantly. Ali actually got so upset once that she didn’t speak to them for like a week because Che’nya and Idia outvoted them 😭

- Ali is the tallest! Che’nya is the shortest lol.

- they steal each other’s clothes all the time. Idia only does so on accident, though—usually he only wears Che’nya’s because Ali’s are too recognizable.

- Ali will randomly prefer to be called Alistair some days. Idia likes to call this their “mysterious full title”

- they are all very dumb and cute together and I love them anshgshsh okay that’s all for now <3

Q&A with The Umbrella Academy cast ft. Aidan Gallagher and Y/R/N

"Hello everyone! As promised I promised to you guys, I brought over Y/R/N who plays Number Zero of the Umbrella Academy, for today's video." Aidan Ghallagher introduced the girl beside him who wore a large cardigan and an unamused look on her face. 

"Are you for real?" Y/R/N asked, not humoured by Adian’s introduction but the actor looked amused by his fellow co-star’s reaction.

"Is that all you have to say I mean? You don't have a catchphrase or introduction for your channel?" She added but the brunette actor ignored her words knowing she’s just jesting for the video. 

"Anywho, we will be answering some of your questions and we will be providing our answers to the best of our abilities."

The (your hair color) actor huffs and pretends to be hurt by being ignored. 

"Oh yeah, I just wanted to double check Y/R/N, are you okay with answering the questions-"

"Of course I am, if I wasn't I wouldn't be here."

"You've been in my channel for 15 seconds and your already acting like it's yours."

The actress dramatically flips her hair then bats her lashes at the camera making Aidan laugh, "It's my job to make this entertaining. I know you can't possibly handle the weight of being the only star."

The boy smiles, clearly entertained by her actions but, managed to stifle his laughter. "We might as well start with the questions before this becomes her channel."

"So the first question is from, moe-moe-kyunette, I uh, did I say that right?" Aidan looked doubtful once he said the username then looked at Y/RN to help him out.

"Ship it and clip it everyone! You've tricked him into saying the thing!" The actress laughed as she slammed her fist against the table while holding her stomach, knowing the internet user just tricked Aidan into saying a meme.

"Wait, is it something bad?"

"Not a bad thing, it's like a japanese meme, an anime meme to be exact, about an idol girl trying to be cute so she says that."

"I see," As the actor was about to resume with the video but Y/R/N stopped him, "Wait, before you start, can you do the 'moe moe kyun' meme with the hand gestures?"

Aidan shook his head whilst smiling then resumed, "Well, they asked you the most important question. Have you ever listened to my music?"

The actress stiffened, "Did my manager really agree with the questions you picked?"

"Yes, yes, she did." He looks at her with a raised brow and an amused look then gestured to the camera, "Well, we are waiting Y/R/N."

"I-" She looks away flustered, "I'm sorry but I haven't listened to your music yet- I know I promised to listen to them but have not had the time to listen to them…"

"And why is that?" The brunette crosses his arms the look still on his face.

She nervously looks down at her feet, "It's just...I haven't been able to make time yet." He gives her a knowing look then gestures to the camera, "Well, I guess we'll just have to wait and see, won't we?"

"I just, I just- I just think that we should move on now! How about I read the next question?" She then nears the monitor, and Aidan is silently laughing. 

"So Aidan and Y/R/N, is it true you guys fought on set?" The girl quickly hides her face in her cardigan from the camera. " I should have never read the question voluntarily!"

The boy beside her chuckles, "But, to answer your question, we have never fought on set, some people just misinterpreted that we had a fight because she hit the back of my head."

The actress hides herself with the cardigan she wore, "Look! That's how I greet my friends. I know that's not how other conventionally greet others that's why I only did it to people I was close with."

"Let me," She takes in a deep breath, then removes the cardigan from her face. "Let me add some context to the story first, so I mistook Aidan for my friend Astrid without her wig on, and yes, I didn't notice he was wearing his costume!"

"So like, I greeted him by slapping the back of his head. He turned to me confused why I just did that and I ran away out of instinct and never explained it until he had the chance to corner me." 

Aidan was laughing so hard, "I had to corner her because I didn't want our scenes to become awkward than they already were. When I found out the reasoning I just forgave her but told her that she really shouldn't have ran away."

"It was instinct okay! That was not the first thing I thought of when I processed I just hit you. It didn't help either that we weren't friends yet, so I thought my whole career was ruined at that moment." The (your hair color) actress covered the half of her face. 

The boy smiled though it was his way of attempting to stop himself from laughing anymore at his fellow co-star’s flustered state. "Gajh1098 asked, what is that one trait we like about our character at the same time hate?"

Y/R/N gestures for Aidan to start first, "You can start first."

He nodded then prompted his chin on his hand, "I would have to say, I hate how Five is confident in himself to the point it comes off as arrogance. Being confident is not bad but if you have seen Y/R/N here-"

She jumped then exclaimed loudly, "What's that supposed to mean?!"

"She acts too confident on camera but we all know - especially the other casts members - that she's actually tamed. You can see on our interviews as a cast, that she's like that one cousin in the corner, that doesn't know what to say so she hides behind her other cousins."

The girl cringed, "Oh, god, you saw those memes? I was hoping you wouldn't." 

"I was literally there to witness it," The actor laughed then, added on. "Anywho, Y/R/N acts confident but it doesn't come off arrogant. She knows her limits but Five doesn't because he thinks he can do everything by himself that he ends up not recognizing that he can't do everything himself."

Y/R/N nods, "Yeah that's kinda toxic in a way. It's kinda like how in group works. You lead the group and end up doing everything yourself, because you don't trust your teammates. I can see why you wouldn't trust them but, you shouldn't push yourself to the point where you crash down."

Aidan nods then gestures at the girl, "Your turn to answer the question."

"So the one trait I dislike and like about Y/N is that she's flexible with handling people. She is very understanding, too understanding! She knows how to interact with them very well. It's a good trait in hindsight - especially in work places - but, it's not a good trait if you become so malleable that people take advantage of it." 

The actor nodded along agreeing with her words.

The actress then abruptly sat up shouting, "MY TURN! I wanna read the next question! Oh yeah, do we have to mention the usernames? Or are you going to show them on screen?" 

"I usually mention them because I feel like it makes them happy-"

"Well too bad! I'm going to make their day miserable." Y/R/N cheekily grinned. "This person asked why I always hide behind other people or hold onto their clothes like a child… Can we skip this?"

The boy chuckled, "No."

"Seriously, I feel like you and my manager are trying to humiliate me for the video.” She muttered under her breath, narrowing her eyes at Aidan suspiciously, “Anyways, I'm still getting used to cameras and it's kinda instinctual for me to do that I suppose? I'm not used to cameras since I have been used to working with microphones being a voice actor first and foremost."

His hazel's eyes light up, "Oh yeah, I recall you saying you were a VA, why did you audition for the show to begin with?"

The actress scratched her nape with a wry smile, "I thought it was a voice acting job not acting. I didn't even know until I was picked that it was an acting job. I scrambled to research on acting and kept asking the others if they could give me advice on acting."

He face palmed, smiling, "Did you not read what you were screening for?"

"To be fair, it was my manager who read it out loud, I just butted in and just said yes mindlessly because I saw the character designs and thought they were cool, I'm referring to the comics by the way."

"Next question from is from wbip8581, they asked how we become close?" The brunette male read the question outloud.

"Since Aidan and I got a lot of scenes together, I asked if we could work on them - like rehearse with each other so he could give me pointers on how to deliver my character."

"We hung out but, it was more on watching reality TV shows to examine and decipher how an angry person acts or how someone similar to Y/N acts." He added onto the girl’s explanation to which she nodded along.

"I think because of him, I got into watching Hell's kitchen," Both the actress and actor laughed at how true the statement was.

The brunette male then decided to move, "For now, this is the last question since I know the video is probably going to be long with how much Y/R/N rambles-"

"HEY!" The girl pretended to look offended by putting a hand over her heart.

Aidan chuckled, "So, the last question is from Immpotato10, do you two plan to make more videos together? Assuming that the Q&A does well."

"That depends really… although I like talking to Mr. Gallagher." She says his last name mockingly which made him roll his eyes, "I don't wanna overstay my time here in his channel, and if he has good video ideas then I will probably reconsider."

“Well, I suppose that’s goodbye for now!” Aidan bid his farewell to his audience followed by Y/R/N waving her two hands at the camera like a child.

“No, no,” the Rashemaar tells her cheerfully. “He is a miniature giant space hamster. The name is most clear, is it not?”

Jaheira squints, peering at the small, furry rodent in the man’s hand. It stares back at her with beady, intelligent eyes, casually licking its paw to wash its face. “...Perfectly,” she says dryly.

She cannot quite figure their new traveling companions out. Well - Dynaheir is not so much of a mystery; she is stern with an almost regal air, and not (or at least not yet) much given to casual conversation, but Jaheira can understand that well enough. She herself is not generally voluble with strangers.

But Minsc… Minsc is a puzzle. She was, at first, utterly convinced that he was having a laugh at her expense, with his hamster and his odd manner and his habit of hurling himself directly at any enemy they encounter with a loud cry and remarkably little concern for self-preservation. But as they have traveled on together, she is starting to realize that he is, in fact, just like that.

The hamster is a strange one, too. Despite surreptitiously casting a spell for animal speech on herself, she cannot get a word out of it; it just stares at her with those beady little eyes and then scurries up and down Minsc’s arm.

The whole thing has her deeply on edge - more so than she already was just by virtue of accompanying the two near-children from Candlekeep who make up the rest of their party. When she and Khalid departed on this Nashkel fact-finding mission, they had not expected to end up gathering strays along the way. It makes things far more difficult…

“Minsc would ask if Jaheira also keeps an animal,” Minsc continues with that air of affable good-humor, seemingly unperturbed by Jaheira’s evident confusion. “But Minsc has seen the truth. In battle, Jaheira holds all manner of animals inside her!”

“...That is one way of putting it.” Jaheira has to admit she has never heard wildshaping described quite this way before.

“Boo wonders if you have ever turned into a hamster,” Minsc says eagerly.

“Well, he may continue wondering.” Jaheira sighs. It is not really Minsc’s fault that she is stuck on guard duty with him. This was, in fact, Dynaheir’s request - that the watch be split so that at least one of the pair of Rashemaar travelers be awake at all times. Jaheira can even understand why; in Dynaheir’s place, she would not offer full trust immediately either.

But if she has many more nights spent with only Minsc, followed by an empty bed as Khalid takes his shift, she might quite possibly go mad.

“Are you and Dynaheir… attached?” she asks carefully. Perhaps, if the answer is yes, there might be hope that this state of affairs will not last long.

“It is not. But never mind it,” Jaheira says, with a sort of weary resignation. She tilts her head, peering past the veil of leaves above them to judge the moon’s position. “It grows late enough,” she adds. “Go wake your… ‘witch’, and I shall wake my husband.”

Without waiting for a response, she trudges towards the edge of camp and the familiar, battered tent that she has carried since before she and Khalid even met. Poking her head inside, she nudges gently at the pile of blankets on the bedroll.

“Khalid?” she calls softly, her voice far gentler than it was in talking to Minsc. “Wake up, my love.” The blanket emits a drowsy groan, and she smiles to herself. “You are called to the watch, Harper.”

“B-be damned to the watch,” Khalid mumbles, muffled from within the bunched fabric.

Jaheira climbs fully into the tent, reaching under the blanket until she finds her husband’s hand and squeezes it tightly. “Shall I tell Dynaheir she shall watch alone?”

“N-no, no, I am up. I am up. I d-do not dare annoy that woman, I th-th-think.” Khalid sighs and sits up, coming fully into view as the blankets fall away. His hair is tousled and messy and his eyelids are still heavy with sleep - but his expression brightens as he catches sight of her face. “A k-kiss before I go?” he asks as he begins to clamber past her towards the tent flap.

As if she would deny it. With the current state of things, this is the only proper moment of privacy she and Khalid are afforded; it feels like clinging to water dripping rapidly out of her hands. She doesn’t even waste time answering, just cups his face in both hands and kisses him so fiercely that he overbalances and falls into her embrace. 

One of his arms locks around her waist with eager, thrilling strength, catching him in the fall, jolting their bodies together. He is warm from the blankets and his embrace feels welcoming, safe, wonderfully familiar.

“My love…” she mumbles. She rests her hand for a moment against Khalid’s chest, feeling the beat of his heart under his thin shirt. 

He brushes his fingertips against her lips, his eyes bright in the dim light of the fire outside. “Good night, d-darling,” he murmurs. “I will see you soon.”

Then, reluctantly, he draws back and disappears outside, leaving her alone in the tent. With a soft groan, she heaves herself onto the bedroll, stretches out under the blankets, breathes in the scent of him left behind.

She is struck for a moment by visions of a hundred nights in their past journeys traveling alone. It all seems so much simpler by comparison; there was nothing to distract them from each other, no orphaned young wards in need of her protection, no strange new companions carrying hamsters in their pockets. 

Grumbling low in the back of her throat, she rolls over and pulls the blanket around her. Perhaps we must simply settle this business in Nashkel, she thinks. And then matters will return to normal…

You ship the two dudes from RRR so you watched more Tollywood movies to see if there was anymore Fruity love stories but were disappointed finding out Tollywood actively stays always from Gay. Don’t worry I got you

So after Western audiences and he’ll even some brown people watched RRR They began to heavily ship Ram and Bheem.

I mean I get it two dudes back in like the 19th century India on rival sides of an internalized War becoming friends by chance and giving up their believes for said friendship to save said person from their ultimate demise while looking incredibly badass while doing it definitely gives some signals.

Sorry to disappoint though Rajamouli actually denied making Ram and Bheem canonly fruity and established hetero love stories for them due to the fact Most of Tollywood has little to never actively shown fruity characters sometimes making fun of them (transgenders we’re usually used to highlight ‘bad’ beauty in musical numbers dancing around the hero only to accentuate the beauty of the heroine). So for his own protection and to make sure RRR wouldn't flop Rajamouli forced Ram and Bheem to have Jenny and Sita as love interests kinda like the meme 'born to repost, forced to private'.

Some movies in Tollywood don’t actively hate on it though and yes use it as a laughing gag but then again Westerners often use the expression “Yes Queen” and that’s what I’d typically reference these gags to.

However I was rewatching some movies of a Tollywood actor named Ram Pothineni whose movies I grew up watching and still watch. One of my favorites is “Endukante Premanta” because it’s a reincarnation love story and I love reincarnation love stories plus it takes place on Paris something I realized years later.

Anyway so Ram Pothineni in 2013 starred in a movie named “Masala” along with another Popular actor from more older times like early 2000s and a bit before his name is Venkatesh Dagguabti.

So basically the movie itself is average you’d get it more if you were brought up in Tollywood Cinema like me.

The basic plot line is there’s the Muslim guy named Rehman who wants to get his sister married as his brotherly duty towards her however the face problems in a court case where their house is seized so their uncle transfers them to the village where their uncle lives and helps Rehman find work.

When Rehman arrives at this village an incident occurs where a little boy was climbing a stone gate to a building to get his Kite and accidentally falls on the other side of the Gate into the water. Past the Gate is a Temple that is closed off due to Legal Problems. Seeing the boy is drowning in the water Rehman smashed the lock to the gate and baits the door open diving into the water saving the boy. He gets in trouble with a few of the residents who are mad at him for breaking the gate open since the Temple being closed was a major issue in the village. However Balaram a very respected figure in the village intervenes supporting Rehman for his efforts in saving the kid Balaram was actually involved with the Temple closing incident with the Antagonist of the film his cousin who is intent on marrying Balaram’s sister which Balaram dislikes. After this incident Balaram decides to take the temple into his custody again thanks to Rehman’s effort with the support of the village people.

A thing you should know about Balaram is that he doesn’t tolerate Lies at all he’s a very good man helping everyone in the village at their time of need but no matter how big or small the lie is he will punish the other party for their lie. When Balaram asks Rehman for his name Rehman’s friend Siri lies telling him that it’s Ram a traditional Hindu name fearing that if the village people were to find out that it was because of Rehman a Muslim guy the Hindu temple reopened there would be problems since Islam and Hinduism are opposing faiths and even though they can tolerate the other faiths some people might not feel that way since it still is a sensitive topic.

Because of that one lie Rehman is forced to enter a rabbit hole of lies hiding his Muslim identity pretending his mother who died when he was young is still alive and that he’s a singing teacher in order to make sure Balaram won’t get suspicious of his lying.

Now the main point is Rehman in this movie for one of his lies is forced to pretend he has a younger Muslim stepbrother that looks just like him because Balaram’s advisor and him saw Rehman at a Mosque. Rehman’s fake younger brother character who he acts is a dancer by profession and is gay. Yep that’s the laughing gag.

However in the movie Rehman’s fruity character in my opinion isn’t really disrespectful at All There’s not really any homophobia to the character and he acts like any fruity man you’d see on TikTok with “Slay Queen” and “Yes Girly Pop” which is kinda translated into Telugu. He acts very fruity in his role which is like he’s supposed to because his Make believe younger brother is fruity. Rehman has Balaram’s men (his workers) actively questioning their sexuality with Rehman’s provacative actions in the movie. Sure Rehman is only pretending and hits them when they get too close and the workers take no for an answer (another victory if you see the earlier Telugu films at the time). Balaram hires fake Gay Rehman as a dance teacher for his younger sister since he doesn’t trust normal men around her since his cousin wants to marry her and has tried kidnapping her on multiple occasions. Balaram trusts ‘Rehman’ since he’s Gay though.

The actual Rehman ends up with the heroine in this case Balaram’s sister Meenakshi at the end of the movie revaluing his lies and being forgives but I fully believe Rehman was Bi in this movie. How he acted even when he wasn’t playing his fake character of his younger Gay brother was kind of fruity his voice alone will sometimes give you like James Charles kinda voice if you get what I mean.

I mean it’s not perfect in representation it’s still a Tollywood movie from the 2010s too but it is really progressive compared to the other movies and I found Tehman’s character when he was acting fruity or just pretending to be Ram or just his normal self was really funny.

This was it. They would leave for Ketterdam tomorrow morning. He had his money; the Ravkan crown in his pocket; his revenge. He should have been satisfied. He wasn't. Because what was waiting for him back in Ketterdam now? A kingdom, yes, but a crooked one, now forever off-kilter. He would be a king without... without... He would be a king, and what else was there to want?

Kaz stood on the roof, leaning against the fort's parapet, overlooking the vast strip of barren land the Fold once dominated. The setting sun turned the sand a fiery, golden hue; an antithesis of the darkness that had reigned there for so long.

He had been up here for a few hours now, avoiding the jovial, adrenaline-fueled festivities in the halls beneath. He'd initially climbed to the roof to watch the small airship take off, transporting the Volkvolny's ever-growing crew to the main ship. He hadn't been able to, receding to the other side of the high walls at the last minute. Just as in the chapel, he couldn't turn around; he couldn't bear to watch her leave. Even the thought of her caused a prickle on the back of his neck, a shiver wrapping around his aching spine.

"Ask me again, Kaz."

Inej's voice was soft, airy, the syllables of his name turning sweet and lilting. It wasn't possible.

Kaz turned, and there she was. He must have been more sleep-deprived than he thought, the visage of her so startingly solid and real. But the way the sun caught on her hair—braided once more—and the light hitch in her breath when his eyes met hers confirmed that she was here: brightly lit and corporeal. Not some specter of loss like Jordie.

"Inej, what are you doing here?" His voice was hoarse and rougher than usual, even to his own ears.

"Ask me again," she repeated.

"What are you—" he began.

"No," she interrupted, drawing closer, the space between them quickly diminishing. "I'm here because I need you to ask me again."

Realization of what she wanted dawned on him and something turned sour in his stomach.

"Why?" he ground out. "So you can tell me no all over again?"

She only stood there, watching him, picking him apart with her dark eyes. He supposed he had been the one to teach her the patience of a thief, after all.

"You were supposed to leave hours ago," he deflected.

"Yes."

"You didn't."

She smiled, the quirk of her lips small and ambiguous. "It appears that way, doesn't it?"

"Why are you here?"

"I told you."

"I'm not going to ask you to stay, Inej. You already made your answer clear." If she wanted to humiliate him, he wouldn't bend.

"Just try."

She was looking at him with the sort of rawness and expectation she had when praying to her Saints—full of hope and belief in something divine.

Damn his pride; damn it all.

"Inej." He took a step closer to her, then another, until they were merely inches from each other. If he reached out, he might be able to touch her. "Don't leave. Come back to Ketterdam and stay with me. Please."

She was on him before he could finish the word, instead sighing it into her mouth that was now pressed against his. She met it with her own, a whispered, yes that buzzed hot against his lips.

The word reverberated around his skull while she kissed him and kissed him. Her hands were balled in his coat, his own gloved ones pressed tightly to the curve of her waist. She was so alive in his arms, her lips so soft and warm, even the harbor waters were kept at bay.

Too quickly, she pulled away, and he watched as a heavy breath left her pretty, pinkened mouth. Her eyes flitted all over his face, snatching at his tells. He couldn't imagine what she must have found, but it left her smiling big and bright up at him.

Kadaj? Absolutely I do. Yazoo and Loz not so much. Kadaj is my punching bag.

2. Did you always like this character?

All three of them, yes! I loved them all from the very beginning. Loz took me a teensy bit longer to warm up to.

3. What first drew you to this character?

I remember first seeing a picture of Kadaj on pinterest and being like. Woah. His design is so cool. I went to watch the movie to learn more about him, and that's when Yazoo caught my attention with his voice and Loz's super speed itched my brain good.

4. Did you initially dislike/hate this character?

Nope! Loved em all <333

5. If this character were a woman, would you honestly still like them? Or in reverse, what if they were a man?

I'm physically not attracted to women, so no. I wouldn't like them as much. Part of the reason I like the remnants so much is because they're so Aesthetically Pleasing to look at.

6. Do you have any nicknames or pet names you use for this character?

Kadaj is Daj, Yazoo is Yaz, Loz is Lozzie.

7. Does the character’s age matter to you?

Yes. I have to clarify multiple times that I headcanon Kadaj to be 18+ just to avoid confusion. I love FF7 but listing Kadaj's age as being just "teenager" has led to SO many problems within the fandom about his age and I wish they were more clear with his age. Yazoo and Loz I'm not so concerned about because they're both canonically in their 20s.

8. Does the character’s looks/design matter to you?

Absolutely they do. However it mostly comes down to their hair, skin, and eyes; clothes I changed however I like.

9. Does this character remind you of anyone you know? Does that affect how you see them?

Yazoo reminds me of my older sister, who's an amazing dancer. Yazoo being a dancer is inspired by her.

10. Do you see yourself in this character even without projecting?

I am literally the exact same height and build as Kadaj. So yes. We're twinning. Yazoo? Not really. The only thing I see myself in with Loz is how much he cries

Well I don't really feel romantic attraction to any of them, but I do love observing their different traits and psychoanalyzing them. Does that count as falling in love?

12. If you could write effortlessly and as much as you wanted, what story (s) would you write for this character?

GOD I just want them to BE SIBLINGS. I need more of their sibling dynamics so badly.

I really want to draw Kadaj seeing his brothers after the events of Advent Children and having them all reunite. Gods. I'm a sucker for sibling dynamics.

Nah. But they are pleasing to the eye in an aesthetic way.

Non-sexual for all three of them, except for some rare occasions with Yazoo but that's only for shipping with other characters. Otherwise my (or others) attraction towards them is strictly non-sexual.

Kadaj has made me cry. His death scene gets me every fucking time. I cried over Yazoo and Loz through a fanfiction called "We'll All Go Together."

Thinking about Kadaj discovering the meaning of found family in Dissidia made my chest hurt a lil bit. Yazoo and Loz's twin dynamics made me punch a pillow a few times.

The remnants are a happy family to me. I have a well and loving family myself, so it's not really an escape per se, but I do like seeing them in their family. It makes me happy.

All of them deserve hugs and kisses.

I've never see Kadaj as the romantic type, but platonic and familial, yes. Same for the other two. I could see Yazoo in a romantic light, though; don't ask me why, my brain is weird.

My hyperfixations come and go with time. Though I think they'll be in my brain for a good while yet.

The scene where Kadaj dies and then Yazoo and Loz exploded themselves immediately after to avenge him did Somethin to me man

I've only dreamt about Kadaj once, where he was sitting on a brick wall while a wind picked up. That's all I saw before I woke up.

25. What kind of fan-fiction do you read about this character? If you don’t read fan-fics about them, why not?

Remnants fanfics are really hard to find. While a lot of fanfic authors tend to throw them in as side characters, there are precious little where the remnants are the main focus. And even then, sometimes they're aged down into little kids. While I have absolutely 0 problem with these fics, I still want to see them written as adults while still being the focus of the story.

26. If you look for this character’s name on AO3, what tags are you including or excluding?

As a rule of thumb, I ALWAYS exclude underage and rape/noncon from any fanfic I read. I also sometimes block the M rating altogether when I'm looking for Kadaj fanfics since I can never be too careful. I also block any of the incest tags, including Kadaj/Cloud and any other variants of that.

27. Do you like to ship this character with other characters or do you prefer not to?

Kadaj is iffy territory when it comes to this. Like, yes, I want him to be in a relationship, but not in a traditional one, y'know? Especially since I headcanon him to be ace. I could absolutely see Yazoo getting down and dirty with someone. Loz needs a girlfriend and that's about it.

28. Do you get defensive about this character? If yes, then why?

Only when people are being dramatic about their ages just to cause discourse. One time I was expressing a ship with my OC for Kadaj for one of my AUs, and someone came in announcing that Kadaj was 12 years old so my ship was problematic. Stuff like that really pisses me off. That, and also when people say "they ACT like kids so they ARE kids." Okay so does me owning a stuffed animal make me 10 years old? No? Okay knock it off. They're naiive, not children.

And I wonder how I will handle Constantine and Addolorata too. I have an idea of course, I already have the name of the ship (I had fun to make up ship names) and I think RoyalSnare or SlowBurn (it was a coincidence!)

The thing is Lolicia's character development need to be widely open like a cracked egg for their relationship to start for real. I think... I THINK their relationship will be a based on a FromSoftware 3 phases boss 🤣

Also, you will not believe it but I have something for Serenity too, because you said she is scared of the sea and the dark and its kinda Lolicia things and I wanted to help her deal with her phobias ? And it would be an interesting short healing trauma/cute/deep relationship but it is very difference from a full romance with Constantine.

And Constantine deep friendship with Serenity could be healing to her fear of abandonment or being alone. Because even if she loves her dad, she would take time to open her heart again because she is afraid to lose Alastor abruptly again (logically)

I love it when she is about to die and then she heard the phone moan notification and look at the side. And then she saw Sherlock like "Girl, I'm saving you". So brave. Mycroft really said "she's dead forget it" and Sherlock took immediately a plane ticket to save her.

Apart from that, I also loved the conversations of Lolicia and Al backstage!It's a really cute detail that Vittori and Alastor's shadow are constantly having little cat and dog fights with each other.

And Alastor and Charlie's duet.It was seriously perfect The characters finish each other's words, literally fight with words, and on the other hand, Charlie does not fall under Alastor and shows herself with determination, and finally makes Alastor say what she wants.

It was perfect!The movements of the characters while singing the dialogues were described really well.And I was seriously smiling while reading it, it was a truly magnificent scene.I would even pay money to see this scene in animated form!

And seriously the way you describe the scene is Alastor's movements On the other hand, it was great how the scene changed color as Charlie stepped forward.At the end, when Charlie makes Alastor say that he trusts her.Alastor's reaction was also very nice!

And in the final part, it was great to see Charlie stretching her chest and talking to the crowd, and Precious supporting him as a friend!You are truly an amazing writer!

SWtOR-Tober 2024 Day 3: Chaos

I'm so behind because work and school, I do plan to try and catch up. Next segment is "Chaos"

So decided to use my smuggler oc! This isn't just describing Chapter 1, but the general dynamic between her and Corso. They both share a braincell.

I mean, they're just there to find relics + treasure and sneak stuff in, not fight Sith entities (okay maybe not an entity, but these people- nonForce users nor any form of solider- gotta deal with evil wizards? Girl just wanted her ship back.)

Oh, by the way, she had a twin brother with red hair (yes they are cousins to my trooper). Names? Must'arrd and her brother Ketch'up.

Ketch'up is my brother's smuggler character. We started the game back in 2020, doing story classes together (we haven't done them all yet.) But we usually do a theme together. It would be so funny to be running missions together and other players would stop dead in their tracks to do a double-take on the names. But hey, I feel the names are very Star Wars-canon friendly.

Anyway, the inspiration for this image is a meme I use frequently. I don't think I've quite captured the chaos (can't figure out how to blur properly yet) but I think I've done alright. I also chose Unus Annus because there's a moment in Chapter 1, saving one of the siblings from the Justicar, the exchange is:

Alistair is 21 when the Fifth Blight begins. He has a whole bunch of trauma, religious and otherwise, to handle. He's got a complex about other people making choices for him. He will not find it cute or romantic for a Cousland to decide that they can rule together when he has repeatedly expressed that this is something he does not want (without prior discussion, prior meaning before you get to Denerim).

This portrayal will not lean towards the more serious portions of Alistair's personality. I do not see him as a light, happy himbo. Yes he's very happy and very loving when in a relationship. A good friend, a smile and a shoulder when needed. But Shale nails it when she says that he hides behind a "veil of jocularity", but he's not an idiot.

I will have verses for all outcomes from Origins, King drunk and Warden. Obvious cws apply.

Alistair's relationship with Eamon is... complicated but I won't pin it on Isolde. Isolde was also one of Eamon's victims, and though she did bad things Eamon is the one responsible. Misogynistic comments about Isolde won't fly, though there's nothing wrong for naming her as the abuser she is.

The boy is bi. Sorry, but he's not straight.
