i think i genuinely sobbed when i saw this in my inbox?? baby silver's chubby cheeks? the soft, peaceful smile on his face, awash in the serenity and security of his father's love, a love that not even lilia realizes has seized him completely? the star patterned blanket, the frilly pillow, all of the things that you know were not lying around lilia's home in anticipation to some day be used by a sweet, slumbering child. just the subtle confirmation that he sought these items out for silver, the gentle domestication of a man who has only known hardship and ostracization into finding peace and the truest of love in the child of his greatest enemy.

AND OF COURSE, THE STAR OF THE ENTIRE PIECE, HIS HANDSTITCHED BAT PLUSHIE!!! im sobbing again, mica i need you to UNDERSTAND!!!! lilia deliberately stitching a smile on that bat's face despite knowing how his species is looked down on by the fae, despite knowing that humankind fears the very creatures he's always associated with!! lilia watching this child reach for his bat, pulling it close to cuddle with a matching smile on his innocent face, and realizing that this is peace��� the lump in his throat, the heat in his eyes, the bandages around his needle-pricked fingers. he may have blessed this boy, but silver blesses him each and every day with a comfort that his heart has never known, and for a moment, the bat snuggled in his son's arms is lilia himself.

The Christmas tree swayed slightly under the enthusiastic climbing of the gleaming teal menace perched atop its highest branch, but the little Niffler paid no mind. His belly pouch was stuffed to bursting with baubles, tinsel clung to him like a cape, and his teal fur twinkled with an almost angelic glow, though the mischievous grin splitting his beak suggested anything but heavenly intentions.

His chest puffed out with pride as he raised his little arms in triumph, basking in his own magnificence. Then, with all the majesty he could muster, Nosy threw his head back and let out the loudest honk he could manage. The sound echoed through the castle halls, startling owls and shaking dust from ancient rafters. Wiggling his tail in delight, he sent a final spray of glitter through the air.

This, Nosy thought with a smug look, is what Christmas was meant to look like.
