In Elemental, it's repeatedly noted that water is supposed to be completely shut off to Firetown. But the night before the leak in the Fireplace, while Ember is doing deliveries, there's this shot:

This is very difficult for me, because as a person who is both nostalgic for her teenage years (when I was the girl who thought of nothing but Pixar's Cars) and nostalgic for the 80s, a time I've never been born in, I want nothing more than to see all these things come back. I don't let corporations, say, use an 80s song to get me to buy a product, I can say no to that. But re-releasing that 80s Transformers toy? Dangit, take my money. I'll admit I tend to let nostalgia get the better of me. I do try to make an effort to try new things but in this day and age, almost nothing feels fun anymore.

Also just wanna I AM A HUGE shipping fan of Mater & Holley.

They are such a cute & unique couple that I wish we saw more of them together if only Pixar wasn’t trying to ignore Cars 2 into nonexistental oblivion.

I’d take it over Holley x Finn which I don’t mind the ship but it just feels a bit cliche compared to Mater x Holley plus I see them as more of close bonded work partners than a couple.

But gosh dangit! Let them date again Pixar!!! Let me see our fav British spy & rusty silly hillbilly together again pls 😭

I am thinking a lot about Coco.  I’m thinking a lot about “Poco Loco.” I know “Remember Me” is the big song and all, but just...I’d bet that scene is the first time Hector really performed for a crowd like that in almost a century, the first time he really sang one of his own songs with another person with that absolute joy, and just how it came back to him, and yes of course music in movies always winds up looking natural, but they do just enough to show the two of them looking at each other and cueing each other to make it feel like they’ve got chemistry, and Hector is so happy and tells Miguel he’s proud of him...

AND ALL THE WHILE HE THINKS THIS IS THE GREAT-GRANDSON OF THE MAN WHO STOLE HIS MUSIC

He might not know that Ernesto poisoned him, but he sure knows Ernesto stole his music and never gave him a lick of credit or mentioned his name to another soul, and took his incredibly personal song that he wrote for his daughter and turned it into a cheap flashy ballad about a tom-cat ladies man. Knowing that and with all his bitterness, and he still just connects with Miguel like that.  Or maybe part of him was thinking it was almost like reconnecting with his old friend like when they were children.

Also, I love that the first song Miguel hears him sing is “Everyone Knows Juanita.” Not just because it’s cute and funny, but because Hector is defined by the lullaby he sung for his little girl, and in a way, the first song Miguel hears him sing also functions as a lullaby.

I just...I am emotions about Coco.  And Hector. Mostly Hector.

Now does anyone know how Mattel still has the rights to Toy Story? Is it because the deal was made with Pixar and not Disney? Or is it because it was negotiated so that Barbie could appear in the film, Mattel gets the toy rights? Hmmm...

Alternatively, was the rights grab by Hasbro a couple years back exclusively for the Disney Princesses? (Because I know Hasbro also makes Marvel's toys...)

[Tolliver Juice- Universe Headcanons]

[This is a collection post of all the headcanons I could gather that I’ve been making for Tolliver “Liv” Juice’s world- Pixar’s Cars + Cars 2. It’s so I don’t lose place of all these headcanons again. ;-; Feel free to read them, but you don’t have to if you don’t want to.- I’ll give a brief ‘it’s from here’ bit before each section, have fun! Warning: TIS LONG- And to anyone who actually reads the whole thing.... Holy ponies.]

The first set of headcanons come from Reddit- someone asked ten questions about the Pixar’s Cars universe, and I decided to take a crack at ‘em!... I removed one due to its content, but the other nine answers remain. ^_^

“Welcome to the realm of fanfic and theories, I’ll see what I can come up with.

I would like to say that humans first made the cars, but then slowly died off due to disease, leaving the world for their AI cars to take over.- Hence why some buildings are impractical, there are car puns for building names (because that’s what the cars think it’s meant to be) so on and so forth. Since it’s been presumably generations since the human apocalypse (enough that cars rebuilt/forgot the previous society of humans)- no human interaction is remembered or recorded (the cars couldn’t use our tech properly and had to make their own built on ours).

I’m guessing the religions are just as vast, so there would be a car version of each religion- from Christianity to Buddhism, and Evolution.

As per my answer to one, I would say the cars repeated SOME of human history, but not all. After all, a history forgotten is a history doomed to be repeated.

I would assume as such, but I think the timeline is meant to be at least a bit deviant (since history cannot be repeated perfectly). Who knows what the altercations are?

I’m guessing that fuel can- and does- get spiked to some effect. I don’t know enough about cars specifically to answer properly, but I’d say alcohol/wine gets them high- or at least drunk. I’m taking that from the Herbie The Love Bug movie series, btw.

Probably by absorbing metal- it might be part of the diet for growing cars. Heck, maybe there’s an elixir specifically for growing cars/planes/etc.- a mix of gasoline and molten metal perhaps?

I would assume most- everything from world hunger to communism is likely replicated in the world based on what we see in the movies.

I would guess it’s mostly eyelashes/‘grill’ (lip) design. From what I’ve seen, the Cars franchise claims female cars are the lithe, small models- while male cars can be lithe and small or big and bulky. It’s never outright confirmed, though- give us a big/bulky female car, Pixar. Freakin’ dangit. 

As for human tongues... Perhaps those earlier in the process after humans were erased tried (and failed) to replicate the bodies of their past companions- resulting in the eyes on the windshields, the tongues, and the teeth.

Keep in mind I theorized all of that- who knows the true answer? Not me. These are just my answers. Hope you liked some of them. :D”

The rest are collected from me talking every now and again on Discord.- Because when I have an idea and I want to jot it down, it either goes to my server, or my storage server. XD These ideas are mostly around Liv, her ability, etc., etc..

“One of the ideas I like concerning Tolliver and how she'd re-work the Pixar Cars movies (with three not being canon): She would probably actually be approached about being a spy by the company/folks shown in the second movie, since... Well, being able to slow/pause time, and being way smaller than any other sentient creature in the movies.... She'd be a top-notch mate for missions and whatnot, going undetected n' all that “

“ In accordance with the bit mentioned in RP, I think it would be more interesting if Liv was on a post-apocalyptic Earth- maybe when she made that wish, she and a few others (very few) that didn't match true human genetics were infected with super-abilities... And everyone else... Well, they matched human genetics and were summarily wiped out. The only way Liv survived was because her ability- to pause/slow time- initially worked on her and not everything around her.- She accidentally slowed herself, and because it was a new ability, knocked herself just one second out of sync with the rest of the world- rendering her 'invisible' (on a minor different plane of existence) for thousands of years while cars became the dominant species and humans died from the virus. I would say it slowed time as opposed to stopped for Liv, because if she stopped herself- even for a second- she would never be able to break free of such a pause. This does mean there might be mentions of a few 'super humans' from before humans went extinct, but if those exist anymore, they're just folk tales at best.”

“Okay so if Sheriff has a parental bond to Flo.... Then that would make Ramone Sheriff’s son-in-law since Ramone and Flo are married. Guido and Luigi are definitely brothers and I love them both. Sheriff is a happy aro/ace.- I don’t think they’ve ever mentioned him having a spouse?- so- aro/ace he doth be. Red was definitely adopted by Lizzie, making Red Lizzie’s son. Big Al is (I’m guessing) a sibling of Red’s that left town. I’m teeempted but I don’t know for sure- I’d like to say that Fillmore and Sarge are married, but Sarge does screech at Fillmore every morning to ‘turn that disrespectful junk off’... I would say they’re hesitant friends, Sarge is an aro/ace or maybe a demi, and Fillmore is a pansexual/romantic.”

This one I can’t find, but it’s out there somewhere- Liv’s ability makes it so that she can hear time- each second is a tick that registers in her auditory capabilities. When she slows down/stops time, the ticks slow/stop in accordance with the speed she’s put time at. Also in accordance with those: the world of the Cars movies has progressed to the point that few remember humans in general, and they’ve pretty much been stricken from the universe’s history.- A few cars do remember humans, but only as tales they heard when they were kids/young cars.
