I have officially edited and updated my DP fic recommendation document
I've so far only used it for friends but now I'm wondering if any of you guys would be interested...
#lots of people make rec lists and i sorta feel like i have a lot of the same ones that everyone always does#but also that could just be the curse of knowledge where im like “yeah ofc everyone knows about X Fic!!!”#when in fact maybe they do not :wheeze:#anyway. just wanna gauge if anyone would want it#idk how often ill update the list#i have a shit ton of DP fics on my To Read/Bookmarks and if i haven't read at leaat enough to make a judgment#i dont put it on the rec list#I've been mostly focused on working on getting through my unread book collection at home rather than fics atm BUT#the list is both a way for me to keep track of my fave fics and also when friends outside the phandom wanted a rec i could ask what#flavor of thing they wanna read and then pick something or send them the doc so they could pick#Everytime I work on the list I start thinking so hard about fics I read years ago or on FFnet and I can't remember the names#Or more than a few scenes....#Rip the real ones from back in the day#I'll at some point be making a new pinned post and so if people do want this I'll post it and then link it in my pinned post#so it's easy to find#danny phantom fanfiction#Danny Phantom fanfic recs

Fic Resolutions For 2025
Happy New Year, everyone! I hope you all had a fun or at least not annoying New Year's Eve! As is tradition around here, I have some fic resolutions to make for the upcoming year:
Finish posting "Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland" and start working on "Londerland Bloodlines: Hollywood's Deluded Depths" -- Arguably the biggest one (literally, have you seen the size of the chapters in these fics?), this one shouldn't be too hard to accomplish -- I've got the rest of "Downtown Queensland" written, I just have to edit the remaining three chapters for posting. Which I can now get back to now that I'm not writing a whole load of gift fics. XD And I imagine I'll have the fic done by about midyear (depending how long editing takes), which will allow me to then start the first draft of the next installment! Fingers crossed!
Continue working on my Valicer In The Dark series -- Well, this should be an easy one to accomplish, given a) you all must know how much I absolutely adore this series by this point and b) I've already finished the first draft of the second installment, "A Murder Shared Is A Murder Thirded." XD These stories tend to be a lot shorter and go a lot quicker than anything in the Londerland Bloodlines series, so I'm hopeful we can get through "A Murder Shared Is A Murder Thirded," "The Van Dort Vacancy," and whatever the fourth story will be called -- maybe "They Would Have Done It For An Ottoman" given that they're paid in furniture for that score? ...actually, I like that, let me note that down...
Start reading and reviewing more fic again -- And in non-writing news...this one was inspired by the fact that I've kind of fallen out of the habit of reading fic when I'm at home, instead doing it almost exclusively during my lunch break at work, meaning I'm not exactly in a good place to review said fic. (With the major exceptions being when a friend sends me a link to something they're working on.) There always seems to be something else grabbing my attention. So I want to try and make a concentrated effort to get back into the habit of doing it at home so I can leave reviews, even short ones.
I think those are all reasonable goals to have for the year, given what I know about myself. *nods* Fingers crossed we all make it through this one, folks!

I just realized that when I write dialogue I usually write out only the dialogue before any of the action and sometimes I even imagine the dialogues lines as if in a theater play… now im wondering how obvious it is in the final draft

#aughh i just spent ages typing out an honorable mention list and then i was like i don't like this actually so i deleted it#whatever you're not getting an explanation. unless you ask then i mean sure i don't mind#i find it funny that the straight ship canonicity ratio is lower than the lesbian one. there's just smth about het stuff when it's not cano#each tier had its own challenges with brainstorming which was fun#i don't have a lotta straight ships i think about in a frothing seething howlilng way. fakiru and tamaharu are really the biggest ones atm#gay ships are the most common for me bc i consume a lotta guy-dominated media and things get homoerotic pretty fast#but that also meant there was a lot to sift through and i always felt like i was forgetting something#like i almost forgot killugon. KILLUGON. the same killugon that i was painfully obsessed with for multiple years yes that one#formative to my life in middle school and everything. my little gay guys forever. theyre very sweet how could i forget them#and with sapphic stuff it was various issues in depiction. like 'no one ships these two from this obscureish movie but me' and 'they're boo#characters so how do i depict this visually' and 'no one knows these two the fandom's bone dry :('#there's a lotta ships i like but it was sometimes hard to find ones i LOVEd enough to put alongside the others yknow. a problem with all 3#categories. anyway a fun thing for my brain to do hooray#the most violently snubbed honorable mentions are probably griffith and guts bergerk. i wouldn't say i ship them exactly but they were in#love and should not be together in the present. as far as i've read. complicated but they're in my brain real good real deep in there#and hua cheng and xie lian tgcf. probably shoulda been there over the lawyers now that i'm thinking about it just in terms of sheer brainro#bc they took over my life about as hard as the other mxtx guys did. but yeah anyway#also i realized after this that i forgot horikashi.. which would probably take seowaka's place </3

I love it when I'm not actually as invested in something as others are yet I'll still spend. 10+ hours just watching content about it cuz I still have to know about it like I might not have brain rot or anything but I gotta have that info in my brain

bites thumb..im quite enjoying beautiful world where are you so far in a fun and silly way..
#definitely guilty of some of the crimes i listed in my 'sick of contemporary american litfic' post though with the crucial quality of not#being american. the difference i think is that i do genuinely think it does it all so much better. like i can see coco mellors writing styl#for instance within this except on practically every front she executes it more poorly. and litfic is my favourite genre to the#point of practically being the only fiction i read so when its done well i really have no problems with the genre. and i do see quite#significant and inherent differences between what rooney does and what a lot of her contemporaries who just are not as good#do. like. compare alice to cleo and neither are characters i like but cleo is insufferable in a way that switches me off completely from he#narrative whereas alice i am still interested in. idk i think maybe this sort of novel is just very very easy to get wrong and so often#gotten wrong because authors dont understand what it is they need to accomplish within it. but anyway yeah just on a technical level#im enjoying this far more than my recent millenial litfic flop reads#reading tag

still on the Star Wars books Speedrun and finished Jedi Apprentice 1 so I'll go eat now and start Phasma soon and finish my 15-book reading list in a month or less

#for the past three days i kept having to change my time because i forgor#or not technically forgot i just list track if time#in other news i posted a minecraft video that was exciting#it‘s for an application which is also very fun#i should probably make a post for the video here too….#language updates are:#watched one whole cellbit vod without subtitles#given it was a word based puzzle game in english#but i still understood more than i did previously :DD#it does help that he keeps translating the words like yesss#tell me more words#i have at the back of my head to watch the infinitecraft vid too#which is a lot of translated words#also mcc was today#i watched half got distracted and forgot about mcc until it was alteady dodgebolt#whops#bear talks#language updates#oh yeah another thing that has been helping is reading portuguese fics by translating them#just so i can see the words#and know what they mean

#currently reading light from uncommon stars#idk it's not quite hitting#the writing is fine but the construction feels more jumbled than I imagine the author intended#might have more to say later#my to read/reread list is quite long but I've got a library card now so might as well fill my time#it's strange because a lot of the things I like are often found in the YA grouping but often I feel like there's something.... lacking about#the execution#and frankly navigating the adult fiction section at the library is a fucking nightmare fsjsdklf#I'll have to assemble my thoughts more coherently later but#yeah
