I might have posted this one before- but this is my interpretation of The Raven Queen, the shadow of the life giving Phoenix, the space between, the ever watchful void, and the end of all things.

Uh-oh. NOW she's angry.
IT TOOK ME ALMOST A YEAR TO FINISH THIS ONE, I just couldn't find the motivation to keep working on this BUT HERE IT IS AGAINST ALL THE ODDS.
Prior to this moment in our campaign Aella's crush (now girlfriend!) Miranda had been knocked unconscious in a battle. Aella took that exactly as well as one would expect and went on a full draconic rampage ✨ I love her so much

spy au?? say more.. who is that blond guy. is that alex or felix?
Oh christ blonde bitch is neither of the twins fskljdfssfdkj
Golden asshole is Sebastian, redhead is Alexander, Theo is brunette.

(I want to punt hm like a football)
TLDR for the Spy AU, it's a derivation of a modern AU (don't ask). Alex is a museum archivist/curator who gets dragged into some spy bullshit after Theo mistakes him for a contact. Sebastian is Alex's shitty ex whose family are a bunch of rich moguls up to some shady nonsense (in this case, smuggling jewelry and some high tech prototypes that look like jewelry).
In the specific scene posted, Alexander is at a gala event he and Theo tried to sneak into, he got caught, and the earrings are some high tech gobbledygook that's put him temporarily under Sebastian's control. His brain's at least a liiiittle aware. Theo comes and saves him in time and eventually they make Sebastian explode <3
#melody rambles#fading reflections#sebastian is a chronic loser in canon#he has tried so hard to get alex's attention/set himself up as a suitor but no one likes him or trusts his country so#L bozo

Ooo, what about rose quartz? Any characters you had to take out?
Yeah! The piece I'm working on initially had Eliese swordfighting her brother then talking to the party cleric, but frankly it would've led to a bunch of repeat information :/
Akiros and Eliese's dialogue was the more important bit so that's what I'm prioritizing.
As for characters broadly speaking, the cut character that comes to mind most is Priya. Girl did not fit anywhere, rip her.

Something you learned from writing your wip
I'll split this into what I've learned from my current smaller wips, and what working on FR has taught me.
I'm learning, with some of these smaller pieces, how I like to pace scenes again and how I like to... write again. How to enjoy my works and treat myself. I'm also attempting soon to write more explicit scenes since I kinda... just tend to fade to black. I want to push myself more.
As for Fading Reflections, though I haven't tackled the "writing" portion of it yet (it's a problem, I'm aware) I know what to look for when my story is missing something. Because the original story was a fanfiction, there's a lot of details that you can gloss over/ignore to get to the "juicy bits".
Not that there's an issue with that! But tackling a whole world where there's broader conflicts outside of the central few characters, where there's more of a traditional structure, it forces you to think about the implications.
What's this character doing? When are they acting on their own? How are they struggling in this moment? What's everyone's arcs over the story? Who are the supporting cast?
Things of that nature.
Plus all the world building I've done- lordy lmao. I want my world to feel lived in, even if a lot of its pastiche reads as a bit Eurofantasy world #3958 lmao.
I've also learned how to use Miro. As one can tell.

Emerald: Which of your characters is hardest to write?
and
Ruby: Is there any symbolism used in your wip?
Hmm... I think the one I've consistently struggled with the most is Diana. At times it was because (admittedly) she didn't have as fleshed out a character as her brothers. I struggled to figure out what her angle/perspective was.
Oddly I struggle at times with Alexander for inverse reasons. He's such a fixed character in my brain that I will go through phases where it's like "HE WOULD NOT FUCKING SAY THIS BUT IDK WHAT HE'D SAY".
As for symbolism, I feel like the most obvious one is mirrors in FR. You've got it as a representation of twins (mirror images) but also how other people's perceptions and views can warp someone's self image yk? Also flowers are all over the place.
I don't know if I integrate a ton of symbolism into my works overall tbh, at least not intentionally when it comes to general one off pieces. The one I'm working on rn is Eliese telling Akiros that she's pregnant and tbh it's just them yapping. Idk maybe the hearth represents family or something.
