I write fragile on a dozen boxes salvaged from recycling I forgot to take out before I knew I was moving and my hand shakes even more each time. The lines bleed off the box corners and into me. I'm fragile, you see.
#poem#poetry#spilled ink#spilled thoughts#long story short i have made choices in my life such that my only option when i hit this present juncture#was to move home and i am not handling the lack of choice well#in my first year living here especially i bought beautiful fragile things because i love beautiful fragile things and because i thought#i was on the path that my next move would be my last one. i was going to buy a home and that would be it and i'd only need to pack up#my whole life once more and so i could justify the vintage vases and such. but the past couple of years have been brutal on me#and i've made choices that i stand by and choices that i don't and now i'm moving home and it's less than ideal but i'll make it work#perhaps this is short story long#anyway. before i first moved in my roommate texted me from home depot because she and her boyfriend were at home depot#and i was at work at the time. and she wanted to know what color i wanted my room because they were gonna paint my room that day#and i didn't have time to make a decision and she's an artist with a great eye so i sent her my pinterest decor board and said maybe a gree#like this kind of green? and she got this gorgeous green reminiscent of a paris green that looks amazing with all my art on the walls#but i just had to take the art down. i'm in the middle of the task actually. and now it's just this big green expanse#and i'm not feeling so good about leaving this place#but the way i felt so safe and so loved when i got that text and when i got here and saw that the room was painted bc they wanted me to sta#the past few years have been not so good in a lot of ways like i said but this place was an island of peace for me when things were rough#anyway. fragile. thanks for listening

GUYS OH MY GOD. THE ABSOLUTE BEST NEWS.
Okay, the reason my SD card "broke" was because I dropped my laptop, but apparently when I dropped it, my SD card didn't break, my SD card READER broke. In my laptop. GUYS I HAVE BEEN BANKING ON THAT BEING THE CASE SINCE IT HAPPENED
I'm sweating, omg, my USB SD card reader that I ordered just came in and..... It works 😭😭😭 I can access all my art again, guys, it's a Christmas miracle 😭

The passage of time was sooo normal and kind to me this year guys qwq
#happy 2025#art summary#artists on tumblr#two of these are commisions and two are from artfight#I could not manage drawing alongside work and everything else that went awry this year qwq#yeah I made the scylla part three months ago and only manage to post anything about it now I#am so bad at this#I usually don't do new years resolutions but for this one I genuinely want to get better at promoting myself#especially since I'm out of work again#laid off like a true animator/gamer....#oh and that october mizi one is just an unfinished sketch I guess january akane having a bad time is also unfinished#never could manage to get it anywhere despite wanting to on account of the hair coming out reeeeally nice#I'm extremely proud of all my bigger pieces this year though#june and july ones hehe juri june and july#I never answered anyone on artfight and I feel so bad about it :'( participating on that was like#one of the last things I remember doing before time started passing normally again this year or well feeling better at least#and well as bad as it ended my time working was really great only routine that stuck around the whole year#and going out with my then coworkers felt really fancy and fun#I was able to save up a lot and want to use that to focus on personal projects this next year#......which is partly the reason I Need to study and practice getting better at promoing

I made a background for an animation in class, the prof said we could do any style, so I experimented!

What's with art communities and forgetting people can just do things for fun and not be professional about it??
#ax speaks#advice is ALWAYS catered to “how to survive as a professional artist”#like yeah cool this is all great but I just wanted to know how to make my art cool not the rules I need to follow to get hired#good anatomy does not equal good art#good dialogue does not equal good art#encourage creativity divergence and experimentation#shade with black. make big thick messy lines. make your lighting completely nonsensical#make weird uncomfortable dialogue. narrate casually. space out your words strangely for effect. write in the second person#of course all of it can be executed badly that's why professionals tell you to stay away from it#but if you execute it in your own way and make it work you can really push the bounds of being an artist#the question should always be “goes it feel good” rather than “is it correct” when creating something#the next time someone asks you for drawing advice don't tell them to make the lines less shaky or to use more muted colors#tell them exactly what you would do to make their art look sick as hell#or if someone asks for writing advice don't tell them the structure of a story or what words to use#tell them exactly what your favorite parts are to focus on like dialogue or how you came up with the part you had the most fun writing

yayy its almost the end of 2023!! this year was huge for my art growth and its so awesome to look back on everything.. this was super fun 2 make and not only serves as a memory for this year's art and my interests but to my closest irl and online friends who were with me the whole way ^_^

There's really no telling what my brain will decide is A Challenge, but at least it occasionally works to my advantage. I started writing a novel, and I was telling my mom that since it was a middle grade novel, it would be shorter than a typical adult novel. It would still take me a while, but I'd been making good progress and finished the second chapter the other night.
Mom says, Oh, so at this rate you'll be done by, what, the beginning of March?
And I was like no, that's ridiculous! It's the beginning of February and I've only just started. I'm fast, but not that fast.
So then I crunched the numbers and realized at my typical rate I would finish by mid July. And my brain went naaaaaah that's too long. I bet I could do it by May. And I promptly wrote 2 chapters in a single sitting.
I've been doing a chapter a night the last couple nights. And I ran the numbers again and realized that if I kept that up I would, in fact, finish by the beginning of March (the writing part, anyways. Editing is a whole other beast).
I won't be able to keep it up, the pace won't be sustainable when my work picks back up, but geez if I didn't get a huge head start.
#anyways I'm actually really excited about this#I'm planning for it to be a trilogy and I've already written a couple things that I know will be a great call back in book 3#I'm a little surprised by how excited I am about it tbh I usually lose steam and start to doubt myself#but I actually think this is a good story. As long as I can make my writing match the idea in quality we'll be all set!#my mom is also excited about it which is even weirder. Not that she isn't supportive it's just that she lacks whimsy#which as a fantasy writer means sometimes my ideas don't make sense to her. But this time she got so excited when I woke up the next day#she had painted a couple versions of cover art for it. Test paintings so not on the good paper but still very beautiful! She told me she#would do a full version and actually be my cover artist. Which is great because her art style works perfectly with this. But also surprisin

I’m glad with the art and for the amount of pages I made in such a relatively short time span -w- page 5 was super fun to work on.
