A wood stove served many purposes, from heating a chilly Appalachian Mountain home to warming hands after hunting or playing, but its primary function was cooking. Although newer cook stoves now exist, I believe food cooked on a wood stove tastes better and evokes memories of the past.

This stove is featured in the Foxfire book of Appalachian Cookery as Rittie Webb’s Home Comfort Wood Stove.

Just got back from vacation, feeling rejuvenated.

Feels weird to be excited about work but I’ve been learning so much in intern year already and I’m on elective rotation (again) which isn’t too tiring. Also feels good to get back home and back into my daily routine. ☺️
