WOMEN'S RIGHTS IN ISLAM
women in Islam are even entitled to their own right to land. There is evidence that Muhammad asked women for advice and took their thoughts into account, specifically with regard to the Quran. Women were allowed to pray with men, take part in commercial interactions, and played a role in education.

GUYS I don’t know if any of you know about Yemen or the current conflict going on, but apparently there are secret jails torturing and even raping women to get false confessions of prostitution and the likes. “Systematic arrests and prisons rife with torture have been central to war efforts by both sides, the Iranian-backed Houthis and the Saudi-led coalition trying to oust them.” -AP. So women are treated like shit and tortured from both sides, and this happens in all wars and crises. There is no good side or bad side in a war, there is only evil and the side that outdid evil.

Our Body, Our Choice
I am so grateful to have been a part of the march today. It’s still seen by law as a Criminal Act in the state of NSW, to get an abortion unless your doctor gives you the okay. If you are perfectly healthy (mentally and physically) you have to have the baby.
We deserve as humans, the right to our bodies, to our autonomy. And in Australia it’s still not as free as it should be. If a woman simply wants an abortion because she isn’t ready for a kid, she should not have to give a reason to have an abortion. There is so many restrictions, and today was all about showing the people in power and the world who should have the rights to our bodie... only us. Today was also about standing up for the women in Alabama and many other US states, who now cannot receive abortions at all, unless they are willing to get unsafe abortions from now ‘illegal’ places. I don’t care if abortion is against your beliefs, that’s fine, just don’t make a law against it just because it’s your belief.
The protest was amazing to be a part of, and there was so much support from the people around us on the streets. Sydney just stopped for a moment to watch, to film, to cheer, and it was incredible. I am truly grateful to have been a part of that. Every time someone stands up for what they believe, stand up for love, and kindness the world becomes a better place.

20,000 Google Employees Walkout to Protest Company's Treatment of Women
"There’s a time where the rubber meets the road, and showing up to something that’s this important and meaningful has impact.” Over 20,000 Google employees held a global walkout on Thursday to protest the way the company treats women. More than 3,000 employees alone gathered in a park in New York, carrying signs and chanting. But New York wasn’t the only city where employees gathered. Staff members from London, Dublin, Seattle, Berlin and a myriad of other cities gathered to protest the way the company recently handled a case of sexual harassment. https://twitter.com/richardjnieva/status/1058083515189780482
Google Payouts Spark Anger
Anger was sparked earlier in the week when “creator” of Android mobile software Andy Rubin allegedly received a $90 million payout after leaving the company, although at the time Google considered a sexual misconduct allegation against him “credible.” Google did not disclose the allegation - it became public when published in a New York Times article on October 25, 2018. The high-profile executive denies the accusation. Richard DeVaul, another Google executive, resigned on Tuesday after allegedly making unwanted advances towards a woman during an interview. The woman would have reported directly to DeVaul. Although Mr. DeVaul has not commented on his resignation, he has referred to the incident as an “error of judgement .” Claire Stapleton, a marketing manager from YouTube as well as an organizer for the walkout, told NPR, “We've always been told that Google is a leading-edge company, that our culture is something really special. And in that way, we totally have the space to walk out and do this today. But we also see some very real changes that need to happen.”
Google Staff Demand Changes in the Workplace
Staff members left notes on their desks, explaining their reasons for the walkout to their coworkers: "I’m not at my desk because I’m walking out with other Googlers and contractors to protest sexual harassment, misconduct, lack of transparency, and a workplace culture that’s not working for everyone." Employees have also made several demands of Google: A commitment to end pay and opportunity inequality A publicly disclosed sexual harassment transparency report A clear, uniform, globally inclusive process for reporting sexual misconduct safely and anonymously The elevation of the chief diversity officer to answer directly to the CEO, and make recommendations directly to the board of directors The appointment of an employee representative to the board An end to forced arbitration in cases of harassment and discrimination for all current and future employees Google recruiter Nick Strohecker, who helped with crowd control in New York, showed his support: “There’s a time where the rubber meets the road, and showing up to something that’s this important and meaningful has impact.” For many Google employees, the issue goes beyond sexual harassment. It’s about increasing equity, addressing systemic racism, and equalizing the workforce gender makeup. Currently, only 25 percent of the executives and 31 percent of the workforce at Google are female. Staff members hope to see positive changes in the Google workplace because of the walkout. Stapleton reported that her faith in the company has been restored as a result of the past week. "We have tremendous allies. I mean, we immediately took the name 'women' out of the walkout because we had so much support from men. And we wanted this to feel really inclusive, and for this to be about a bigger thing than one executive payout,” Stapleton said. She continued, "I think if change can happen anywhere I hope it's here.” Read the full article

Journalists Show Bruises After Being Beaten by the Taliban
youtube
While covering a women’s protest, 22-year-old Tagi Daryabi and a colleague were arrested and detained by the Taliban. When they got to the police station, Daryabi says he and his colleague heard screams from a nearby room, likely that of others being beaten as well. The Taliban also attacked women who were marching for their rights, reportedly beating them with batons. Voices Behind the Scene: Korea Women's Hotline
There are the activists who devote themselves to end the violence against women. The society does not recognize their devotion but they have made a progress, enduring all things they face; prejudice, ignorance, and obstruction. They show fortitude.
They are Korea Women’s Hotline, which was established and started to counsel and assist those who were beaten by husbands. It was 1983, the time when Korea was under the authoritarian government and the time before democratization.
Tumblr media
The movement to help domestic violence victims started with only two telephones. The counselors got 541 phone calls asking for help in a month. Based on the phone calls, they accumulated the data and analyzed the damage. They felt it should end, so they started a campaign to create the law to protect the victims and punish the criminal. It was not easy at all at that time. When lobbying the member of congress and doing public campaign, people did not pay attention to their voice. “It is family things. We do not need to care for them.” One of congressmen even said “Rain can come into house, but law cannot come into house.”
It was not 1997 until the law regarding domestic violence passed in the National Assembly. However, the law does not operate well. Korea Women’s Hotline is making campaign for revising the law, improving awareness of the crime, and educating people to be a counselor.
Tumblr media
When I took the class for counseling the victims, I got to know a woman whose nickname is cherry. She was the victim of domestic violence. She escaped from her husband and got help from Korea Women’s Hotline. She stayed at the shelter provided by the Hotline. There, with the help of the Hotline, she got some psychotherapy, learned how self-reliance, and knew the structural problem of domestic violence. Then, she decided to help the women who suffer just like her. She took the class for counseling, and now she is volunteering.
Tumblr media
There have been hundreds of women, who survived from the crime and then give a help to others since the class started in 1983. Korea Women’s Hotline now has 25 branches throughout this country. Korea Women’s Hotline has been at the forefront and at the tail in order to end the domestic violence. It was they who made domestic violence as human rights issues even when it was accepted as general that husband could beat his wife and the beaten wife should understand and endure.
According to UN Women, 1 in 3 women worldwide have experienced physical or sexual violence mostly by an intimate partner; their boyfriends or husband. In 2012, 1 in 2 women killed worldwide were killed by their partners or family. There does exist violence even at home, where we should feel safe.
Tumblr media
It has been about 30 years since Korea Women’s Hotline established. We should remember their achievement and story. In Korea history, especially for women’s rights movement, they have played a significant role. We should know and appreciate the works of Korea Women’s Hotline and support their actions in order to end the violence.

Bravery comes on all forms. This time it is Paxton Smith 🌶Brava 🇺🇸Always stand up to a bully. Even if your just beginning your life and the bully is an established dinosaur. @governorabbott 💪🏾@d_magazine “As we leave high school we need to make our voices heard. I was going to get up here and talk to you about ... However, in light of recent events... Recently the heartbeat bill was passed in Texas. Starting in September, there will be a ban on abortions that take place after 6 weeks of pregnancy, regardless of whether the pregnancy was a result of rape or incest. 6 weeks. Most women don’t even realize they’re pregnant by then. And so, before they have the time to decide if they are emotionally, physically, and financially stable enough to carry out a full-term pregnancy, before they have the chance to decide if they can take on the responsibility....A decision that will affect the rest of their lives. I have dreams, hopes, and ambitions. Every girl here does. We have spent our whole lives working towards our futures, and without our consent or input, our control over our futures has been stripped away from us. I am terrified that if my contraceptives fail me, that if I’m raped, then my hopes and efforts and dreams for myself will no longer be relevant. I hope you can feel how gut-wrenching it is, how dehumanizing it is, to have the autonomy over your own body taken from you. And I’m talking about this today, on a day as important as this, on a day honoring the students’ efforts in twelve years of schooling, on a day where we’re all brought together, on a day where you will be the most inclined to hear a voice like mine, a woman’s voice, to tell you that this is a problem. A problem that can’t wait. I refuse to give up this platform to promote complacency and peace, when there is a war. ... A war on the rights of your sisters, a war on the rights of your mothers, a war on the rights of your daughters. We cannot stay silent. #Women’sRights #EqualRights #ReproductiveRights #KeepAbortionLegal #PlannedParenthood #FreedomOfSpeech #StopGovernorAbbott https://www.instagram.com/p/CPpMGEdp9sX/?utm_medium=tumblr
