Moon Child

My first art of the new year featuring Moonwatcher. This design is based on Joy Ang’s design of Nightwing. Something similar to Moon and me is that we are both moon children, for her, Gavin g a strong connect to the moon. For me, being a cancer.

RAINWINGS ❀!! very obvious bias for them on my part - we are doing design notes for now, expect countless headcannons on their culture and life etc

-generally based on large parrots and pythons! in a fantasy sense, they are covered in scales that look/act as feather plumage, able to bristle and be moved for display or emote as body language together with their frills! their face looks like a snakes, able to scent heat and taste the air with tounge flicks

-they also have larger longer 'feathering' near the base of their tail that looks like macaw tails which helps them make tight turns when flying. their bird like wings all together make them agile in short bursts, but they do terribly when it comes to distance flying

-they have an elongated front thumb, large hook claws on their wings, and their hind talons look like a bird's for their arboreal lifestyle!

I mean I did try to do a background but I struggled a lot, and I didn't want to abandon this because I love their poses a lot

"Imperial," she whispered, pointing to the biggest moon. Her claw traced across the sky to the next one. "Oracle. And Perception." She brought her talons down and wrapped her wings around herself. "I remembered." She looked up at Oracle and whispered, "Mother will be here soon." === More finished Wings of Fire art!! I finally finished my reread of the series and it really made me want to draw baby Moonwatcher. I did some experiments for the background with this one, and I love how it turned out!! It's really simple but I think it portrays the density and loneliness of the rainforest.

~ Gleamier of the RainWings ~

(oh wow a rainwing oc what an underrated pick)

I really had fun making this but I do think I wont do so many "fully finished" pieces back to back like I was doing a year ago because it drains me quickly.

Gleamier is diffcult to describe because she's more like a self insert that doesn't strictly do the same things I do.

Luxaeterna, a participant in the first true battle of the war between the Rainwings and Icewings, the Battle of Stolen Light. Her venom-fangs were torn out by an Icewing poacher, and after surviving and avoiding capture, replaced them with harder gemstone teeth. She’s well known for the number of Icewing skulls she’s impaled throughout the war. She is Boomslang and Quetzal’s great aunt. Postwar, she has been reunited with her living grandnephew and accompanies him for scale retrieval in the Ice and Sky Kingdoms.

Quetzal in his last moments before being murdered by an Icewing poacher. He had sold Boomslang’s egg to the Icewings in the hopes of gaining immunity from the scale trade- but he learned far too late that a bargain can’t be kept with someone who wants to wear your skin.

The first two are Mudwing mud houses, the first is the colors of baked clay and the second terracotta colors. The third is a headshot of one of my designs for the Mudwings. The last is Rainwing houses, it tried to keep the round hanging house part but it kind of looks a little poor.
