Cute Wild Life Snail Headcanon
All of them actually have personality if you really think about it
geminisnail is chill and friendly but keeps up the pretense of being dangerous, same with Slimeishbeans
escargo is as ruthless and bloodthirsty as a vex. Lil guy was on a mission.
snumbo is my favorite; he seemed so polite, a lot like mumbo actually, i don’t think he tried too hard and i bet two nickels he actually felt bad when mumbo literally jumped on him and died
gary is a troll. I think he really could have killed grian in that mineshaft but he wanted to be a little menace. Very watcher like
Skizz Ren Martyn and Tango’s snails were having fun and thought of it as a game. Pearl Impulse and Jimmy’s snails were like this too but got frustrated easily when they weren’t winning
i think the rest just treated it like a simple 9-5 to be honest

Going with the "Grian is the one who designed this game as opposed to the others" headcanon, it makes you think about the superpowers he gave his friends, how they were all laughing and having fun in the beginning, and that was intentional. It goes to show that even when forced to design the death game his friends are put through (a punishment for trying to usurp the Watchers time and time again), he still cares. They all know he's the one who designed this game, and he hopes they realize the little mercies he's giving them.
He gives Cleo the power to bring people back from the dead, just so he can have a chance to see his best friend again.
He gives Pearl the power to fly, and hopes she appreciates having her wings back, if only for a short time.
Jimmy gets to go invisible because Grian knows the Watchers aren't happy with the curse being broken. He wants to protect him.
As for Martyn? Grian doesn't really know a lot about what's going on with him and the Listeners, but he might as well try to strengthen that connection in the little ways he can without arising suspicion.
He says it himself in the beginning, "let's not forget this is a PVP series," but it sounds hollow even to his own ears. It's pandering to the watching eyes, making them think the lighthearted fun is all unintentional.
He falls out of the sky with the wings he gave to Pearl, and he wonders if the Watchers are starting to catch on.

broke: every Life Series member uses a diamond sword as a weapon because it's Minecraft
woke: i can headcanon them to have any weapon i want them to have
Bdubs - bow and arrow exclusively (uses the arrows as little spears in close combat)
BigB - no one knows?? sometimes he looks at someone and they just take damage randomly
Etho - classic diamond sword
Gem - guitar shaped like a battle axe (used as a battle axe)
Scar - smaller blades, like knives
Grian - prefers his fists, but also happy with explosives
Impulse - throwing knives and stars
Martyn - comically large hammer
Lizzie - anime magical girl giant sword
Mumbo - effectively redstoned up a literal gun (advanced bow and arrow)
Pearl - flamethrower and i won't elaborate
Ren - teeth and claws
Skizz - uses two large drumsticks (for hitting people, blocking by crossing them, and uses them for mobility as vaulting poles)
Scott - uses things from his environment more than anything
Joel - greataxe
Jimmy - very versatile, uses whatever his teammates have to hand
Tango - uses lots of smoke bombs (and real bombs)
Cleo - daggers

Somewhere in the floating void where all the winners rest they sit waiting on the next winner to come
Suddenly they hear the rev of an engine
The screech of tires
And the sound of a voice cheering in glory and triumph
There in the flesh is the car of Joel Toretto doing doughnuts and spinning around the previous winners.

the life series has gotten a lot more lighthearted over the years. we started off with third life - and now I’m not saying about how much fun it was with the creators, more so the fandom and how we view the seasons - and third life was very heavy, fandom wise. so much of the angst comes from that first series with the alliances and betrayals and sure they continue on throughout the series but the third life ones hit harder than any others. they were the ones that people still draw and write about years later, and the ones that despite their forgetfulness, the cc’s still remember them. third life was the heaviest, darkest, probably most lore-heavy season of all of them.
each season after that got just a little more easygoing. last life was still intense, but double life was a lot more fun. limited life had its moments, but the bad boys and the clockers made it a hilarious season at some points. during secret life and wild life, the weight of the death was lifted and they started to truely enjoy being there, not just trying to survive like 3l or last life, not just making the best out of the worst like dl or liml, but having genuine fun.
and of course, we have angst and we have sad moments but the general vibe of the series has gone from danger and being on edge, from uncertainty and fear, to acceptance and enjoyment. the players have started to have fun in the series, much to the watchers discomfort. the game that was designed to be a death match, to break up friendships and tear people apart, has bought them together to create a setting of content. despite all the horrible death surrounding them, the players have started to live, to thrive in the harsh environment.

Spoilers for Scars wild life finale!!
so at the end of his episode, Scar said "gotta go tend to some sunflowers, in my other world" and then we saw secret life Scar in front of Trader Scar's. i cant actually figure out what he said there, but this gave me thoughts. i like the idea of the winners not going to the void after a life series ends, but to the world they won in.
Grian going back 3rd life, to the top of the sand mountain, the cactus ring.
Scott going back to last life, to the place where he won or to the Scottage.
Pearl going back to double life, to the hill where she blew up, her tower.
Martyn going back to limited life, just below the clockers tower, or to the shore next to his base
Scar going back to secret life, to Trader Scar's and the Secret Keeper.
Cleo going back to real life, to the main village, the place where she won.
Joel going back to wild life, to his and Gem's base, to his car.
its just fun and funky to think about

Immortal snail headcanon :]
What if snails used slime to slow players down.
Pinning them to the ground to make them easier to catch
(That's Jimmy's case )

I like to think Ren's fusion skin with Martyn is like... a side effect from shape-shifting into him basically the moment he died. Like imagine watching someone die as you shapeshift into them and just bring stuck like that... idk... anyways I will cry when the next episode comes out, new shape-shifting feature for if I ever write about it

The one part of 3rd Life Renchantyn/Treebark we never talk about
Whenever we talk about Treebark/Renchantyn/Martn and Ren in context of 3rd Life, it's almost always about the beheading - the ultimate test of trust between them two, where Ren claimed his place as the Red King, and Martyn finally fullfilled his duty of being his loyal hand.
However, there's one part we don't talk about even half as much, while I think we should.
Tumblr media
"On the 3rd Life server, there is a rule - that if Red attacks yee, yee may attack the Red back."
The second half of their test was to see whether they trusted each other enough to not attack each other despite being on two opposite ends of the spectrum - with Martyn being green and Ren being red. Ren passed the test with flying colors right away - despite pointing out the possibility that as a red, he could attack Martyn, he never did - he never even grabbed a weapon to attack him with.
And what about Martyn?
Immediately after Ren pointed out the rule, he was holding a cobweb in his hand - so that if Ren went on to attack him, he'd be able to trap him. He ran away and only came back upon Ren saying that he won't do it.
However, he was given a choice. Ren punched him, not even shedding any of his hearts - but as per that rule, Martyn could attack him back. He was armed with both his sword and Red Winter, he even started placing the cobwebs so that Ren couldn't run.
"Are you with Red King to the end, or will you take Dogwarts for yourself?"
Tumblr media
He could very well slay Ren again at that moment. It would not break any rules - Ren attacked him first, so it would count as self defense. Ren was ready for that, maybe even expected that.
"No! I won't do it!"
But Martyn didn't do it. For that one moment, the guy who mostly travelled the server and didn't have the place to call home aside from Dogwarts, decided to trust his only friend and not take everything they worked for together all for himself. He allows the walls he built around himself to crumble ever so slightly, to let that one man in.
...
But what if he didn't?
I can't stop thinking about what would happen if at that moment, he hesitated. If at that moment, despite spending so much time with Ren, he still didn't trust him enough. If his survival instincts kicked in and he attacked Ren again, making the Red King the first fallen player. If he remained at Black Heart Altar alone, with Dogwarts all to himself. If he decided that if not many players trust him, it's better if he doesn't trust anyone, as well. The walls are not ready to be broken down yet.
And then imagine the rest of the games afterwards.
Last Life, where he teams up with Southlanders first - if he turns on them, he'd be outnumbered, so it's like forcing himself into submission. Him hesitating to join Shadow Alliance - he killed Ren last time, why is that man trying to put trust in him again?
Double Life, where he ends up separating from his soulmate either way. He would end up backstabbing Cleo, anyway, so it's better if he starts on his own. Ren still tries to get his attention, but why? What's up with this guy and his weird obsession with his first murderer?
Limited Life. Ren is suddenly gone, so there is nobody else around to pester Martyn. The walls gets thicker and thicker. Scott is nice enough to him, but that pisses him off even more. Reminds him of Ren. This time, he backstabs him with no hesitation, and that leads him to victory. Why trust people, when working on his own led him to his goal?
...
Anyways I have a new idea for a treebark fic, idk if you guys are interested?
UPDATE: It's here, chapter 1 is finished! Enjoy, and brace yourself :>

real life and wild life are grian making death games without the watchers, as sort of a "screw you" after they messed with everyone so much during sl.
real life was a disaster because he couldn't set up the world properly, causing everyone to lose their coordination. wild life is a bit laggy but overall he's doing a lot better.
He's still learning 😔💔

i have a headcanon that whenever a player loses their final life, their corpse's pupils turn into their placement. example: when Mumbo dies in Wild Life, his eyes don't show pupils, only the number 18. then Skizz's say 17, Martyn's 16, etc until Grian's say 02 and Joel's say 01.
Scar in Secret Life buried every body that he could salvage once he won. he placed each one into carefully-dug graves one by one, looking everywhere but their eyes. he desperately didn't want to remember them only by their numbers, have that be the last thing he sees of them.
Grian in Third Life, as he's on top of Scar punching him until he's unrecognisable between the blood and sand, watching as those eyes go from dazed and foggy to 02. in his heart, that number should be 01.
Martyn gets 07 tattooed on him in Last Life, after the events of Third Life. he wants to honour his Lord's achievements.
Impulse has obsessively kept track of every single number that has appeared in his eyes: 05, 05, 02, 07. it mocks him. one day, he will get that 01 in his eyes, if it's the last thing he ever does.
Tango can't go to Skizz's funeral services each season. he tried to go once, in Limited Life, but he couldn't stop thinking about how high that number is. he doesn't want to see his friend in that way.
Jimmy jokingly gets called a teenager, because that's where he always is: in the teens.
Grian in Wild Life desperately searches for parts of Mumbo's body after his death. all he finds is a pair of eyes that say 18.

the snails were supposed to just be little puppets, but grian accidentally put sentience into them. gem had no idea what she was getting into and now they have the equivalent of two chaotic toddlers sliding around the server.
grian was not lying about them doing things by themselves.
love that this implies he created life, thought it was cool, and made a bunch more snails for his friends to deal with
