Why are you at School?
Jaune, getting ready for the first day at Beacon when his scroll rings: *Picks it up*
Mama Arc, is cooking breakfast: "Why are you at Beacon?"
Jaune, nervously: "I'm not."
Mama Arc, raises eyebrow at him: "Beacon just called me, they said congrats on your son."
Jaune, eyes darting back and forth: "Must be wrong."
Mama Arc, eyes narrowed: *Slams knife into the table.* "Stop lying, Jaune!"
Jaune, smiling at her: "Mom I promise you, I'm not at Beacon."
Mama Arc: *Growls* "You're grounded for six months." *Crosses arms* "Wanna keep lying?"
Jaune, trying to sound confident: "I'm not at Beacon, if you don't believe me come see for yourself." *Smiles knowing she's too far for an airship ride*
Mama Arc: *Eyes glow with fire* "Fine I will."
Jaune, panicked: "You're coming to Beacon!?"
Mama Arc: *Bursts out of the house using the Summer Maiden's flame powers to propel herself into the sky* "I'm flying to Beacon now!" *Goes mach 1 with a sword of fire sprouting from her hand* "You better not be there, Jaune! Or You're grounded forever!"
Jaune: *Looks out towards Ansel and sees a shooting star getting bigger*

The poetic irony in EP12 vs EP9, 'if you're going to jail, so will I'. I never knew star-crossed lovers (in prison) would be so romantic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So our dramatic pining gays in shining armour will bust their asses trying to get jobs in jail in order to see their boyfriends. In fairness, genius brain wave - courtesy of Kant (and totally valid).
Things get pretty frisky I see. As one would expect when you've been apart for more than what -a few days? You thirsty bastards.

"Teacher Kim can my friends come over into the centre?"
"Sorry bud but they're not part of the centre so I'm not allowed."
.
"Teacher Kim can Fleet have some of the treats?"
"I really wish I could but since they're not part of the centre and Max really doesn't want another incident I can't."
..
"I wish Teacher Kim would let us bring you guys in." grumbled the youngling.
The others groaned in agreement.
"Okay kids time to come in! The suns are too hot now and it's time to eat!"
The children walk begrudgingly towards the centre through the tall orange grass. The suns on this planet were so hot that even the children didn't complain when it was time to go back inside.
The ones part of the youngling centre made their way inside, waving goodbye to their friends who were not.
"..five, seven, aannd ten! Wow small group today." The human turned to head inside with the younglings when they realized something.
"...where are your parents?"
"Ours or Quin's?"
"Everyone's."
"They're in a meeting."
"Where?"
"On the ship." Juno pointed up.
"Do you know how long they'll be gone."
"I don't know. They left in a hurry...I think they forgot us."
"...get in." the human sighed and walked inside.
"REALLY!?" screamed the children.
"Teacher Kim you said that kids who aren't part of the centre can't come in!"
"I know I know and they're not! But I can't just leave three unsupervised kids out in this heat! Now get in, its hot and Quin your face is redder than usual."
...
"You get water, you get water, everybody gets water! Now who's hungry?"
Hands go up.
"So everyone. Alrighty then."
"Why is she letting us have water and food?" whispered Quin.
"I don't know...maybe it's a apex thing?" whispered back Juno. Her little brother simply chugged his third cup of water.
"Not an apex thing," replied Xw. "I think it's a pack thing?"
"Not a pack thing!" shouted Nova. "Most packs only share food with babies and the sick. Its a herd thing."
"Nope." said Marl.
"Herds only share with those who are family or have family status." explained Tarlak.
And on went the conversation. Each child trying to figure out what type of dynamic humans have. Meanwhile their teacher looks on with amusement.
....
"Oh my stars I am SO SORRY! Thank you so much human Kim!! I swear I thought I grabbed them when I brought their bags with me!" stressed the parent hugging her children with two arms while shaking the humans hands with the other two.
"No worries!" she smiled.
"And kids, I'm so sorry! You must be starving!"
"Oh I gave them some food, so they might not be that hungry. Also Judo had lots of water so he may want to use the bathroom first."
"Oh, how much do we owe you?"
"Sorry?"
"How much do we have to give you to replace the food and water they had?"
"Uh nothing?"
"...huh?"
"They were hungry and thirsty and I just did what any other adult-human! Would do...it's a human thing."
"....alright then. Thank you very much human Kim. Come along children."
And thus the younglings and adults learned what dynamic type the humans have. The human type. Which is honestly pretty stupid to the adults because just giving food to unknown children who aren't even their species? Are they trying to go extinct??

Haibara and Ayumi's friendship
oh i love how their friendship evolved from the very first time haibara appeared until now. it is an undeniable fact that ayumi has become someone so precious to haibara.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
haibara was quite mean to ayumi at the beginning given her grief still fresh and her situation. calling ayumi a stupid girl and telling her to stop crying. she means well but she clearly doesn't know how to say it in a nice way. but now along with the detective boys she learns that kindness and gets softer each passing day.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
it's adorable how ayumi tried to call her "ai-chan" the whole day. haibara probably noticed from the get go but only after the case about torn friendship that she made up her mind to be more open and honest with ayumi. ayumi is now her special friend!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
haibara went from calling ayumi stupid for not running away to not wanting to run away because of her words. ayumi was the final assurance that made her decision to turn down FBI's witness protection program offer. she won't be guaranteed safe, but she has her friends. which is a heartwarming change to see.

I feel like I've seen most of what interests me in FiMFiction for the time being, so I read through some good ol' reliable Stardew Valley fanfics last night, only to realize.
Haley x Female Farmer is basically Rarijack. Rarijack adjacent.

#I do not want to hustle and some of my most beloved people do not understand this#I was talking to my honorary big sister on the phone today about why I'm taking a gap year#the main reason is that the final semester of the program I was accepted into is around 50 hours per week of unpaid field work#which means you aren't allowed to have a job during that semester. this information was not presented until after the application process#anyway she was like “well that's fairly normal for healthcare professions” which is true#however this is a community college program and I would have expected them to account for people needing to work throughout college#anyway I responded “yeah true but I'm considering that maybe healthcare isn't for me then. I don't want a job that requires that much work.#And I don't! I don't want 50 or 60 hour work weeks! I want to work 40 hours and then leave and live my life!#but she made it seem like any job that requires a college degree is going to require that. And I don't think that's true#but also she is older than I am and has much more job experience so idk.#maybe she's advising based on the fact that as a teenager I was super type A and ambitious and really wanted a career?#whereas in the past couple years...idk I just want a reliable job that I don't hate that pays the bills and leaves time for enjoying life#so. I'm not sure#And now I kind of feel bad for not having that ambition anymore/ not wanting to have to give myself ulcers to get through school#But college is not worth my sanity and I found that out the hard way.#And I also feel bad for not being one of those people who CAN handle that much workload! Like I can certainly learn#to do more than I'm doing currently#but I will never be one of those constantly busy and insanely productive people. And I don't even want to be anymore#and yet that feels like an error.#I am not lazy! I used to think I was but no. I enjoy getting work done and doing personal projects and going to work and improving things.#It's not even as though I don't have things I want to do with my life. I have a lot of short term and long term goals!#I want to contribute to my community and support my family however I can and make art and tell stories and be a safe place for people!#and so much else!#but those ambitions aren't necessarily directly connected to school or a job for me anymore#and I value rest and having a social life too much to completely put my health on hold for years and years#sure college does take up a lot of time and energy but it shouldn't wholly consume your life as far as I can see.#and now I feel very unsure if that approach is realistic.#thinking I should talk with her again and try to explain myself a little better and ask what she meant.#diary

I hate when people talk about Ashler like it’s inconceivable to ship them.
They’ll be like “Oh, they had so much beef, they’re barely even friends.” Genuinely asking here, have you even read the webtoon if you think that?
Tyler had issues with practically everyone at the beginning, hell, most of the kids didn’t even like each other. Ben, Aiden, Ashlyn, and Logan all thought he was a jerk and he was acting like one because he was trying to protect himself and Taylor and the whole situation was stressful as hell. That’s why his character development is so good. Even Ashlyn remarks that he’s being less of a jerk in one chapter and Taylor says that he's begun to see the others as real friends, maybe even family.
They all eventually became allies and then friends, including Ashlyn and Tyler. Sure, they like to throw some sarcastic remarks at each other but that’s just their sense of humour and part of the appeal of their friendship. Same with Aiden and Tyler, they insult each other all the time but the insults that were originally meant to hurt are now used affectionately.
He gave Ashlyn a nickname guys. He gave a jokey nickname to cheer her up because she felt terrible about the fact that she had to leave him behind while he got terribly hurt, while he died. She literally started crying out of guilt and being overwhelmed by the whole situation. She cares about him and he cares about her and the whole gang cares about each other, which is why there are so many ships in the fandom to begin with.
So stop acting like anyone who ships Ashler is stupid and stop saying ‘they’re like siblings’ on every post about them. We know it’s probably not gonna be canon, hell, Red herself said romance isn’t the focus of the webtoon at all.
I don’t even like shipping in general but the TikTok fandom keeps pissing me off. Stop acting like everyone has to ship the same things as you and stop commenting shit like ‘cute edit but I wish it was Aidlyn’ or ‘They’re just friends, they act like siblings’. Like yeah, they’re not canon but you’d have to be blind if you couldn’t see why some people ship it. Stop shitting on people’s ships and let them have their fun, we all know they’re not canon.
NONE OF THEM ARE.
Anyway, that’s the end of my rant. Sorry, I keep getting Ashler hate every time I search it up on TikTok. It’s so stupid and annoying, let people ship who they want in peace and stop undermining Ashlyn and Tyler's canon friendship and character development to shit on people’s ships. It’s an insult to the characters and your ability to read between the lines.

ok so some world-building headcanons for the magisterium (because god knows they need it)
They used to use the American high-school education system, with Iron year as a gap year from education, to help with the transition to a magic school, and to prioritise apprentices gaining conscious control over their magic -
After the Cold Massacre, they started to use the Middle Year Program (accelerated) and the Diploma Program of the International Baccalaureate Program. I say "accelerated", because the MYP is for students aged 11-16, with the intention of DP ending at 18. So it'll start with revision of what they've learned at their old schools. This became the educational curriculum for almost all magical schools. -
The masters that don't teach magic don't usually have apprentices. It's no hard-and-fast rule, and many of them still have assistants, but this generally happens. -
The Magisterium does not have standardised testing, but they do have end-of-year exams. Magic levels are separate to education levels, so if an apprentice passes their Gate, but not their exam, they still learn magic of the next year wile repeating the education of the current year, and vice versa. The uniform apprentices wear represent the number of years they have been at the Magisterium, regardless of whether or not they were held back a year, but the metal on their wrist cuff shows what year they are magically (An apprentice in Bronze year who did not pass their Gate will wear white uniforms, but still have a bronze plate on their wrist cuff). An apprentice's education level is not visually shown. Apprentices who have failed either their exam and/or their Gate will still live with their apprentice group, but will learn their failed level separately to them. -
Masters can decide to stay in their quarters over the summer break. The ones who go back usually do so to visit family or friends. Otherwise they are either planning for lessons or honing their own expertise in their own quarters. -
Apprentices that do not pass the Gate of Control (Iron year) do not go home for the summer break. Their master is forced to stay as well. Legal guardians are informed of why their child is unable to leave the school, and are permitted the chance to stay at the Magisterium over the summer break in guest quarters. This is the only time non-magical people are permitted in the Magisterium. If the child passes the Gate of Control over the summer break, they can decide whether to leave or stay for the rest of the holidays. -
Apprentices at the end of their Copper year are able to apply to be an assistant. Through their master they can apply to assist with a particular subject (magic being one of them), and masters that teach this subject are given a compiled list and can choose to take an apprentice as an assistant, granted that they do not teach this apprentice. It's treated like (unpaid) work, and is often used to boost job opportunities, but they are still expected to keep up with their coursework. -
Makaris are generally discouraged from becoming assistants, because of their already increased workload, but they still can. -
All non-magical legal guardian(s) are made aware of the magical if their child is accepted into the Magisterium. This debrief is done just after the selection, once the chosen children have left, and the unchosen children are bound and escorted out with their families. This is also when masters are able to talk about accommodations and transportation with parents (see below) -
The push for disability recognition allowed for masters to make personalised accommodations, having both the apprentice and the legal guardian(s) of the apprentice in the conversation. There are guidelines and procedures, but they are not definite. The agreed upon accommodations are then bound between the master and any one legal guardian, with an assemblyman as a witness (think of something like the unbreakable vow from harry potter). The apprentice can choose whether to be physically present for the binding. Informal accommodations are common between masters and apprentices are common (being the only kind of accommodation during the first gen era), and do not require legal guardians, but other masters are not required to adhere to them. Addendums and retractions to this agreement are made in a similar fashion. -
Call and Al specifically didn't have the accommodations conversation with Rufus until Bronze Year, because of Al's outburst in the Iron Trial, and him being a suspected criminal on the run in Call's Copper year. Because there was nothing formal about Call's leg for two years, a whole buncha master either overestimated or underestimated what Call could do with his leg. Call technically wasn't in school for his Silver and Gold years, it was only used for a year at most anyway. -
Iron year students start a week earlier than other years. This is for the safety of the other students, and the sanity of the masters. -
The Magisterium has a school bus. It's used to bring the chosen Iron apprentices to the school. While the masters are debriefing the legal guardians, they can choose to sign their child up for the school bus. It's free and it's literally just a "yeah can my kid take the bus?". They know where to pick you up. Don't ask how. They won't tell you. The same bus picks up all the apprentices across America and heads to Virginia. It takes most of the day to get there. The bus travels a kilometre (or a mile, I guess) above the ground, but still drives "on the road". The windows show a view of the road as per normal. This means that sometimes the windows show the bus no-clipping through cars and running through every light regardless of colour, but that's all part of the fun! It's not too noticeable but time in the bus passes a little weirdly. It feels easier to lose track of time in there. Legacy families usually like to personally drop off their kids. The bus also takes kids back home at the end of the school year. -
There are 3 types of quarters: apprentice quarters, master quarters and guest quarters. -
Apprentice quarters consist of 1 common room and 3-5 bedrooms (depending on the number of apprentices in that apprentice group). The common room is decorated differently depending how the master likes it, but they all have a fireplace (without fire, but always emitting heat), a carpet, a couple soft places to sit, and a large table. Apprentice bedrooms are decorated as per the apprentice's wish, but all have a wardrobe, a queen-sized four poster bed (with a roof. I've seen some without one), a chest at the foot, a nightstand on one side and an oil lamp on top. -
Master quarters consist of a bedroom, a common room, and a lichen room. The common rooms are much like the apprentice quarters, but are a bit smaller, with a few less seating areas. The bedrooms are larger, and though they hold the same essentials as the apprentice bedrooms, they also have bookshelves, several lamps hanging in the corners, a large desk, and a tornado phone. Depending on the expertise of the master, there may be maps strewn up. The lichen room grows lichen. Masters get hungy for a midnight snack y'know. Some masters use it as a supply closet for ingredients instead. -
Guest quarters consist of a bedroom and a common room. The common room is much like the master common room. The bedroom is much like the apprentice common room. If two guests wish to sleep in the same quarters, their bed is upgraded to a king-sized four poster bed, with a wider chest, a larger wardrobe, and a nightstand with an oil lamp on both sides. These rooms are given to assemblymen, alumni, and other researchers for the duration of their stay at the Magisterium. They are also given to the guardian(s) of the apprentices under specific conditions (see above). -
Assemblymen who stay at the Magisterium are also given an office. This office is like the master and guest common room, but also has two bookshelves, one for books, one for ingredients, as well as a tornado phone on the desk. -
Yes, Master Rufus has an assemblyman office and a master's bedroom/study. Yes, Master Milagros, along with other masters, had raised brows about it. Yes, Master Rufus fought for it anyway. Yes, Master Rufus has two tornado phones. They are both alerted when someone calls him, and one disappears when he answers on the other.

Tbh... I don't think TOH should get a pass for it's shoddy plot just because some of the stuff that happens within the plot invokes an emotional response in people.
First of all, people react to concepts with varying degrees of emotional intensity based on what they like and/or their life experiences. Secondly, you can still create resonate moments with a good plot lmao.
There is no reason TOH should get a pass for making Belos a non threat for most of Season 1 just because people think x, y, z moment is wholesome or whatever.
