mumbo-life. its typical 3rd life rules but at random times throughout the session mumbo jumbo will possess a random player for a random length of time, trying to mess up as much of their plans as possible without outright killing them. all the other players must pretend that they don't know this is mumbo.

if mumbo makes a promise when possessing a player, they must fulfil that promise by the end of the session or go red immediately

I fear life series Mumbo is going to have a chokehold on this fandom by the end of this current series

I like to use a strategy I call "the Long Game" in chess, which is where I move all my pieces slowly and wait for my opponent to keel over due to asphyxiation.

i think my favourite visual design for knight-themed characters has to be when their armor is almost like a carapace, or a second skin. when it fits them just a little too well, as if it's fused with them over time. when it's borderline impossible to imagine them without it, or that anything else could lie beneath. when the armor is almost more of a character than they are. it's a little hard to describe but you'll know it when you see it.

at the spelling bee last night a child was sitting on his mom’s lap on stage (she was the contestant beside me in the front row) and i was wearing a chainmail shoulder accent and the four-year-old reached out to poke it so his mom silently grabbed his hand and he whispered “i like that thing” and I whispered back that he could touch it and so he started like tentatively touching the chainmail while i watched the other contestants spell their words and then suddenly he grabbed it in both hands and just shook me violently to hear the sound the chainmail made so his mom stopped him again and I was biting back laughter so hard i almost started crying on stage.

after the bee my friends in the audience were like “why did that kid attack you in the third round”

This whole thing about scanning your face to prove tour age is making me remember, in 2018 while out in paris we got our wallet stolen during a particularly busy night at a lesbian bar. It was very late and with no money to buy metro tickets we were effectively stranded, but some people helped us and we ended up staying the night at a really sweet older man's place. His face was deeply scarred and he was missing an eye. We chatted on our way and he told me about his life, probably to help calm me down. He explained he had been stuck in a house fire 20 years ago and had had multiple rounds of facial reconstruction and a skin graft, but there's only so much surgery can do so he just learned to live with it. I remember he said he liked the queer bars because they're the only place people don't really stare at him.

At some point I took out my phone, and at the time I was using face unlock. This prompted him to tell me all the ways this technology doesn't work on him. How his phone selfie camera doesn't focus right because it's not a detecting a face. How he had to update his ID the old fashioned way, because the website kept rejecting his photos. And how it was becoming more and more common, and how it was making his life way harder.

This was 7 years ago, and now whenever I see this sort of technology I think of how that guy can't use it. And how house fires are pretty common, and how anything from being born this way to a skin condition to heavy tattooing can probably cause the same issue. Can these people get age verified ? Will they just lose access to all social media, which are increasingly necessary in society, if this becomes the norm ? These are people who are already driven out of public spaces due to how they look, and they're getting pushed out online too all in the interest of companies wanting more money.
