Maui Tragedy 22 av - 8.9.23 - 2nd Fire IN 10 YEARS
Who is the Remnant to be saved into eternity? Maui gods. Have they blessed the nations of the world. Should they be restored?
What Is The Remnant? The Remnant will remember the dark nights of Rosh Chodesh! I bear my soul in this article of seeing God real in human tragedy. I write this on August 13 2023, my mother’s 95th birthday if she were alive. Our parents raised six children in what they thought was a safe Midwest small town. Turns out pedophiles ruined many lives then and still now. I lived amongst all that sin…

Speculative halacha question! I've been mulling over this and folks I've asked irl have been similarly torn on the right solution. Hypothetical: we have spacegoing Jews living on a planet which has a different length of day from Earth. For argument's sake, let's say the day is 25 Earth hours long. What should our Jews do in regards to timekeeping/calendar?
Keep Earth time for everything. Pros: calendar stays perfectly in sync. Cons: ma'ariv and shacharit don't correspond at all to local sunrise/sunset, and our Jews need to constantly wake up in the middle of the night to pray.
Keep local time, but adjust the entire calendar to stay in sync by occasionally subtracting a day to keep things from drifting by more than 12 hours in either direction. (For our 25hr days, this would mean roughly every 4th week will be a 6 day week.) Pros: correspondence to local sunrise/sunset, and Shabbats/festivals still sync with Earth. Cons: some weeks, Shabbat will be the 6th day, not the 7th.
Keep local time, don't adjust weeks/Shabbats but *do* adjust festival dates to be synced to the Earth dates. Pros: festivals correspond, Shabbat always the 7th day. Cons: too few Shabbats per year (could double up on parashot?), fast days may fall on Shabbat, confusing if somethings are synced with Earth and others aren't.
Keep local time, don't adjust the calendar at all. Pros: easy. Cons: everything gets super out of sync and Pesach stops falling in the spring really fast.
Some other solution I haven't thought of?
Assumptions: our Jews are keeping local 25hr time for nonreligious matters like work hours and making appointments. They have easy access to the date/time on Earth, so the ruling about being lost at sea and not knowing the date does not apply. We're ignoring any local lunar activity for Rosh Chodesh, because that would just make things truly impossible.

A cool Dvar Torah I read:
Parshat HaChodesh, the New Moon, and Eclipses!
This Shabbat we read a special section from the Torah called Parshat Hachodesh. It is the story of the Mitzvah of Rosh Chodesh, that we track, observe and celebrate the new moon each and every month. Since the day that G-d commanded Moshe regarding this Mitzvah, two weeks before the grand Exodus from Egyptian slavery, we have kept a close eye on the moon, looking out for that celestial monthly moment of rebirth that G-d showed Moshe that early evening in Egypt. In the Torah, our holidays - Passover, Sukkot, Yom Kippur etc. - are prescribed to happen on a certain day following the new moon: "the fifteenth day after the new moon", "the tenth day after the new moon" and so on. Meaning, that if we wish to celebrate these festivals, we need to keep track of the lunar cycle, even if no one else on Earth gives it a second thought. Along the way, the Jewish people have come to identify with the moon. We can empathize with the moon's ups and downs, so similar to our own history. One moment we're shining bright, the next moment we're so oppressed and persecuted that casual observers have often written us off, predicting our extinction, G-d forbid. And yet the next moment, to their disbelief, we're back, reborn out of the darkness, and growing stronger every day. It's notable that G-d interrupted the flow of events leading up to the Exodus to tell Moshe about Rosh Chodesh. Not only because it seems to be unrelated to what was happening then, but also because by giving that Mitzvah right then, it meant that it would given in Egypt, the darkest spiritual locale in the world. G-d could have waited a couple of weeks until we were out of that spiritual wasteland and told us about Rosh Chodesh in the desert. Why the rush? * Everyone's talking about the eclipse happening Monday afternoon - The Great North American Eclipse. It's a major event that will have millions of people looking up to the Heavens, an event that will not happen again in the USA until 2044. Now, solar eclipses only happen around the new moon. Monday night and Tuesday, Jews will observe Rosh Chodesh. And not just any Rosh Chodesh, but the annual Rosh Chodesh of all Rosh Chodeshes - the first Rosh Chodesh of the year. This means that Monday is the day before rebirth, the day when the moon is at its very lowest, darkest point, the moment that symbolizes the most difficult, challenging times of the Jewish People. And so it turns out that precisely in its smallest, weakest moment, the moon looms largest: it can even eclipse the mighty light of the sun. Is this not our story exactly? Is this not precisely why G-d told this to Moshe in Egypt, in our place of misery and suffering? During the last new moon of our centuries-long sojourn in Egypt, G-d shows Moshe the truth about the miracle of Jewish rebirth and eternity. In the place of our pain, before the redemption, in the midst of the uncertainty, G-d stops everything and tells us to look up at the moon, see our story in the moon's story, and discover in the moon a solid friend, an eternal gentle reminder that it will be okay, that no matter what, Am Yisrael Chai forever. And better yet, as Monday's eclipse shows, our darkest moments are when we shine brightest and loom largest, as we begin the great turnaround, the journey from darkness to light. This Monday will be the 3,336th anniversary of the day G-d showed Moshe the moon. How perfect. During these painful days of antisemitism, the sun, 400 times bigger than the moon, is eclipsed by it. Far from tottering or faltering, the Jewish People are stronger than ever. Precisely when casual observers report us missing, that's when we shine. L'Chaim, brothers and sisters. Our best days lay just ahead. So in the words of the Lecha Dodi which we'll all be singing in just a few hours: "Wake up, wake up! Your light is coming, rise and shine! Time to wake up and say your song, because G-d's glory is revealed upon you."

Shavua tov! At shul today we did the new moon blessings for Shabbat Mevarchim and I feel very lucky I've been learning a lot about moon-related-things lately -- I'm in a mishnah study class and we've been looking at stuff about Rosh Chodesh.
It's very moon-y and feminine and magical and I'm learning just HOW MUCH there is of that isn't even really reach-y in Jewish ritual (including stuff we don't do anymore). Feeling very inspired and will definitely write properly soon about what I've been learning.

There is a boy in 5yo's class who also rides his bus and seemingly always gets sat next to him because their stops are close to each other. 5yo seems to like him and consider him a friend, but this kid is just Not. Nice. Since the beginning of the school year, what I KNOW of (I assume there may likely be more that 5yo has not mentioned) has occurred as follows on the bus:
He's taken 5yo's watch against his will at least twice (only one of which the bus monitor noticed/intervened in)
He's pinched 5yo when 5yo didn't want to give him the watch (then took it anyway)
He had scissors in his backpack (which??? wth???) and cut a hole in the leg of 5yo's pants
He had scissors in his backpack (again, a different day!!!) and cut his own hair - we're lucky he didn't also cut 5yo's
He took 5yo's project against his will and gave 5yo his instead
He stole the lollipop that 5yo was eating (not for lack of having his own - all the kids were given one at school for Rosh Chodesh Kislev), rubbed it on 5yo's sleeve, and threw it on the floor of the bus
He took the diaper bags that we had packed in 5yo's backpack for his para to use and never gave them back
We've reached a point where I'm trying to get ahold of someone at the school about this because it doesn't seem the bus monitor is noticing/intervening almost ever. But I think the worst part is watching my sweet 5yo still consider this boy his friend. I've tried to talk to him a few times about how friends are nice to each other and if someone isn't being nice to you they aren't a good friend for you, but there's only so much you can do as a parent to get a kid to stop being "friends" with someone they see every day for hours outside of your supervision or control.
This is also in such horrible contrast to his adorable, wholesome friendship with his BFF from last year. I wish so badly they'd gotten to be in the same school/class again this year, and then maybe he wouldn't feel a need to hang out with this bully kid.

Tonight begins netzach b'malchut, for my mishpocha who are counting with me...
Thank you so much for supporting my work!
patreon.com/kimchicuddles
The Omer is counted every nightfall starting the 2nd night of Passover until the night before Shavuot (marking when we received the Torah). This yearly cycle of counting lasts 49 days and every nightfall has its own opportunity for reflection. Each of the 7 weeks has its own focus and each of the 7 days within each week has its own focus within that focus. During Sefirat Ha'Omer, we are invited on a mystical journey, a journey that spirals us deeper and deeper into discovering what exists within our psyches and souls…
text reads:
malchut - rosh chodesh
Malchut is sometimes described as a culmination of all the other sefirot and compared to the moon which has no light of its own but can still be incredibly illuminating through reflection.
Last night was Rosh Chodesh, the new moon which marks the beginning of the new month on the Hebrew calendar.
What is it from this past month I want to let go of,
and what am I making space for in this new lunar cycle?

────────── ・ 。 ✡︎ : 。゚. ☽Chodesh Tov!☽  . 。゚ : ✡︎ . ──────────
Today is the last day of Rosh Chodesh in Tamuz and we thought of putting out a little article for our server on what it is. Rosh Chodesh, literally translated as “head of the month”, is the beginning of every month in the Hebrew calendar, marked by the birth of a new moon. It usually lasts about two to three days. The next one, Rosh Chodesh Av, falls on August 4th to 5th.
The very first mention of Rosh Chodesh is also in the very first commandment G-d gives us.
The Lord said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt: This month shall mark for you the beginning of the months; it shall be the first of the months of the year for you. Exodus.12.1-2
This is important because it is a marker of our freedom. Counting the months allowed us to gain agency of our time, “each new month is another reminder of [our] freedom.” [1]
Rosh Chodesh is also very special for women. One reason given is that since women did not offer their jewelry to the Golden Calf and as a result were given Rosh Chodesh to rest and abstain from work. Another reason given is the waxing and waning of a woman's period, connecting us to the moon.
Now the important question is, how do we celebrate Rosh Chodesh? In Numbers 10:10 G-d tells us to sound the trumpets over offerings and in Psalms 81:4 to once again blow the horn.
And on your joyous occasions—your fixed festivals and new moon days—you shall sound the trumpets over your burnt offerings and your sacrifices of well-being. They shall be a reminder of you before your G-d: I, יהוה, am your G-d. (Numbers 10:10)
Blow the horn on the new moon, on the full moon for our feast day. (Psalms 81:4)
Which is something done on Rosh Hashanah does as well to bring in the new year. Remind anyone else of music and/or sound magic?
[2] "In each of the three daily prayers we insert a special paragraph, beginning with the words. Yaaleh veyavo, in which we ask G‑d to remember us and favor us at this auspicious time. A [short version] of Hallel, a collection of psalms of praise (Psalms 113–118), is recited after the morning services. The Torah is taken out and we read four aliyahs from Numbers 28, where G‑d dictates the Rosh Chodesh sacrifices. The Song of the Day is followed by Psalms 104, which contains the words, “He made the moon to mark the seasons.” This is followed by an additional prayer service called musaf, in commemoration of the additional Temple sacrifices."
For some more casual ways on how we can celebrate Rosh Chodesh, bake some bread! And don’t forget to share it with your family and friends. This is an auspicious day, so put down more food on your table to feast. Women and nonbinary folk get to gather together and study torah, share a meal. “Rosh Chodesh has long been a time for Jewish women to gather for a wide variety of activities, from reciting traditional liturgy, to sharing a meal, discussing Jewish ethics, and working for social change.”[3] It's a time to Explore spirituality, religious education, ritual, health issues, music, chanting, art, and/or cooking. Some groups that are formed to celebrate Rosh Chodesh also choose to educate young Jewish women in their community about sexuality, self-image, and other women's mental and physical health issues. And finally its also a time to connect with the Connect with the Shekinah, which is the divine presence and feminine aspect of G-d. The moon is often likened to the Shekinah.
Some extra Magical ways to celebrate!
Do some grounded meditations
Do a tarot reading reflecting on the previous month and another for the month of Tamuz
Do some kitchen magic and bake some bread or other food
Do some sound/music magic by blowing a horn
Discussion Question
How are you going to celebrate Rosh Chodesh today or in the future?

A link to my personal reading of the Scriptures
for the 24th of march 2025 with a paired chapter from each Testament (the First & the New Covenant) of the Bible
[The Letter of 1st Thessalonians, Chapter 1 • The Book of 2nd Chronicles, Chapter 20]
along with Today’s reading from the ancient books of Proverbs and Psalms with Proverbs 24 and Psalm 24 coinciding with the day of the month, accompanied by Psalm 5 for the 5th day of Astronomical Spring, and Psalm 83 for day 83 of the year (with the consummate book of 150 Psalms in its 1st revolution this year)
A post by John Parsons:
The Biblical New Year...
The world system runs on a “clock” that operates under assumptions that are different than those revealed in the Scriptures.... The "wisdom of this world" (σοφία τοῦ κόσμου τούτου) is the prevailing cultural spirit that suppresses the reality of God's Presence and truth. Such “wisdom” is regarded as foolishness before God, and God has promised to “seize the so-called wise in their own craftiness” (1 Cor. 3:19). The life of faith, on the other hand, sees what is invisible. Faith (emunah) apprehends “the substance (ὑπόστασις) of things hoped for, the assurance (ἔλεγχος, conviction, “correction,” “argument,” i.e., hokhachah: הוכחה) of things not seen” (Heb 11:1). As the Scripture says, the heart of faith “looks not to the things seen but to the things unseen; for the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal” (2 Cor. 4:18).
The Sabbath that immediately precedes (and sometimes falls on) the Biblical New Year is called Shabbat HaChodesh (שבת החודש), the “Sabbath of the Month” (of Nisan). This Sabbath is significant because it marks the start of the month of Redemption (i.e., the first month called Nisan) which God called “the beginning of months” (i.e., Rosh Chodashim). We honor this event by reading an additional passage from the Torah concerning the sanctification of the new moon (Exod. 12:1-20), and we spiritually prepare for this month by studying about Passover and the coming spring holidays.
The commandment to sanctify the first new moon of the year (i.e., Rosh Chodashim) reveals that it is our responsibility to sanctify (i.e., observe) Biblical time in general. In other words, when we observe "the beginning of months," we are acknowledging that time itself is rooted in the Biblical calendar with its divinely inspired cycle of festivals (i.e., the moedim). Note that this year the Biblical New Year begins on Sat. March 29th at sundown, and therefore Passover begins exactly two week weeks later, Sun. April 12th at sundown.
Originally Rosh Chodashim was called the "first month" because it marked the month of the Exodus and other months were named in relation to it, similar to the days of the week in the calendar (i.e., the first day, the second day...). Later it was called Chodesh Ha-Aviv (חודש חביב) - “the springtime month” (because the calendar is reset in the spring) and later still as Nisan (ניסן), to recall God’s faithfulness after the Babylonian Exile (Neh. 2:1; Esther 3:7).
The word “Nisan” (נִיסָן) might come from either the word nitzan (ניצן), meaning “bud” (Song 2:12), or the word nissim (ניסים) meaning “miracles,” both of which suggest physical and spiritual resurrection in our lives. Others think the word comes from the verb nus (נוּס), meaning “to flee,” both in relation to Israel’s flight from Egypt and Egypt’s flight from Israel (i.e., when the pursuing Egyptian cavalry fled (נָסִים) before the sea closed upon them (Exod. 14:25, 27). We also see this usage in the verse: “The wicked flee (נָסוּ) when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion” (Prov. 28:1). The devil’s power is found in the lie. If he can make you afraid, you will not think clearly. Establishing your faith in the truth will embolden you to deal with the lies and distortions that are intended to enslave you in fear. As Yeshua said, the truth will set you free (John 8:32).
The new moon of Nisan is the most significant of the "new moons" of the Jewish calendar since it initiates the first month of the Biblical Calendar - and therefore represents the Biblical "New Year's Day." Of all the various Rosh Chodesh celebrations, then, Rosh Chodesh Nisan is foundational, since it presents the starting point for the cycle of the yearly festivals (mo’edim) that reveal prophetic truths about the LORD God of Israel and the coming of His beloved Son. Amen.
