Damita Menezes at NewsNation:
(NewsNation) — A man who allegedly pointed an AK-47-style rifle through the fence at Trump International Golf Club West Palm Beach on Sunday, while the former president was golfing nearby, has been taken into custody, authorities say. The man, identified to NewsNation by a law enforcement source as Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, is described as a white male. He is believed to be the suspect who was crouched in bushes near the golf club perimeter, armed with a weapon equipped with a scope. Two backpacks and a Go-Pro camera were also found with the firearm near the perimeter from which the suspect had fled. Local authorities said the gunman was about 400 yards to 500 yards away from Trump. Routh was convicted in 2002 of possessing a weapon of mass destruction, according to online North Carolina Department of Adult Correction records.
Palm Beach County State Attorney Dave Aronberg told NewsNation that the suspect was not previously on local law enforcement’s radar. Routh, who reportedly has ties to North Carolina and Hawaii, had made “bizarre” social media posts about Ukraine before the incident. Federal authorities have taken over the case, with Aronberg’s office standing down. The state attorney anticipates Routh will face charges related to domestic terrorism and weapons offenses, though specific charges have not been announced. At approximately 1:30 p.m. local time, authorities received a call reporting shots fired at the golf course where Trump was playing a round of golf. A witness told police the suspect fled the scene in a black Nissan and provided investigators with photos of the suspect’s license plate. Using that photo, authorities say they put out a “a very urgent BOLO (Be On the Lookout) for the suspect’s vehicle and plates. [...]
Routh’s social media posts
Social media posts allegedly belonging to Routh indicate he was a believer in COVID-19 conspiracy theories, and he had posted that he had voted for Trump in 2016 but was disappointed with him after the fact, expressing support for Tulsi Gabbard in various posts. Records show Routh moved in 2018 to Kaaawa, Hawaii, where he and his son operated a company building sheds, according to an archived version of the webpage for the business.
In June 2020, he made a post on X directed at then-President Trump to say he would win reelection if he issued an executive order for the Justice Department to prosecute police misconduct. However, in recent years, his posts suggest he soured on Trump, and he expressed support for President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. In July, following the assassination attempt on Trump in Pennsylvania, Routh urged Biden and Harris to visit those wounded in the shooting at the hospital and to attend the funeral of a former fire chief killed at the rally. Voter records show he registered as an unaffiliated voter in North Carolina in 2012, most recently voting in person during the state’s Democratic Party primary in March 2024. Federal campaign finance records show Routh made 19 small political donations totaling $140 since 2019 using his Hawaii address to ActBlue, a political action committee that supports Democratic candidates.
Routh’s Ukrainian ties
The New York Times said it interviewed him for a feature on pro-Ukrainian foreign fighters last year. The Times said Routh traveled to Ukraine in 2022 to recruit ex-Afghan soldiers who fled the Taliban to fight for the embattled nation. Routh frequently posted on social media about the war in Ukraine and had a website where he sought to raise money and recruit volunteers to go to Kyiv to join the fight against the Russian invasion.
The 2nd Trump assassination attempt shooter was Ryan Wesley Routh.
Routh has expressed political views across the spectrum, such as COVID conspiracies, support for Ukraine and Taiwan, and backing of Donald Trump in 2016 before turning against him in favor of Tulsi Gabbard in 2020 and this year, a Vivek Ramaswamy/Nikki Haley unity ticket.

On the morning of May 26, 1990, 40-year-old Marlene Warren answered the door of her upscale Wellington, Florida home to find a person dressed as a clown holding a flower arrangement and two balloons, with one saying "You're the Greatest!"
As Marlene reached out for the gifts, the clown shot her in the face, leaving Marlene gasping for air on the floor as the clown calmly walked back to a white Chrysler LeBaron and drove away. While Marlene was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, a massive manhunt for the clown began. And as the investigation unfolded, it was revealed that Marlene had expressed fears that her husband Michael Warren was going to kill her. However, the police would soon find out Michael couldn't be the killer - he'd been with a friend when Marlene was shot. But as the investigation continued, disturbing information about Michael's connection to the murder began to surface.
By the time Marlene was 18, she was already married and had two sons, John and Joseph, or Joe, as they called him. Tragically, her first husband died when she was just 20 years old, and her son John would pass away in a car crash.
Not long after her first marriage dissolved, she met Michael Warren, a native of Roseville, Michigan, who was in the meat business. They married and relocated to Florida where Michael would be a meat inspector for the Florida Department of Agriculture, working his way up to investigation supervisor. By the start of the 80s Michael and Marlene began investing their money into small residential properties in Palm Beach County, flipping and renting them out. Marlene managed this side of the business and their investments did well. They went on to buy more than a million dollars worth of property in that county.
But in 1984, Michael resigned from his meat job after his boss caught him falsifying time machines. While he was on the clock, he hadn't been doing his meat inspecting job but instead, his side hustle of buying and reselling cars. He got caught and decided to resign instead of being fired. After this he started a used car business in West Palm Beach. He was a smooth talking used car salesman with shady business practices - such as tampering with the car odometers. The business grew to include a car rental company, while Marlene handled the rental homes.
From the outside looking in, the couple seemed like successful entrepreneurs. But beneath the surface, it was a toxic situation. Marlene desperately wanted to leave the marriage. Michael treated Marlene horribly and issues had existed for awhile. But it wouldn't be easy to divorce him with their financial entanglements. Their business and properties were in Marlene's name. Michael wouldn't let her have any money so she knew he'd put up a fight if she ever tried to get any in a divorce. "I remember her asking, 'What would we do, where would we go, if we left here?' I realized that she wanted to leave, but I didn't realize how far into conversations she was about it," her son Joe said.
While Marlene was making plans to leave, Michael was having an affair with his 27-year-old employee, Sheila Keen.
Sheila, though, was still married - to a ku klux klan member. She left him and their son and continued her affair with Michael.
On May 24, 1990, Marlene called her sister and said she was going to leave Michael in a few days. She knew she would likely get the rental homes in a divorce but she didn't want to continue being a landlord, telling her sister that she hated evicting tenants who couldn't pay. She wanted to sell them, so she had an appointment with a real estate agent. Unfortunately, she would never make it.
Marlene also told her sister she knew Michael was cheating on her with Sheila. That day, Marlene's son Joe had multiple friends over the house. Michael was driving to a horserace in Miami, which was another side hustle of his. Just before 11 am, everyone was finishing eating breakfast, when a white Chrysler LeBaron pulled into the driveway. A person dressed as a clown walked up to the front door carrying a wicker basket of red and white carnations and two mylar balloons - one was a red heart that said You're the Greatest in big cursive letters, and the other had a picture of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. Marlene, who loved going to the circus growing up and had a clown themed room in her childhood home, opened the front door to accept the flower arrangement and balloons. "Oh, how pretty," she remarked, but the person dressed as a clown didn't say anything back. Instead, they shot Marlene right in the face. Joe heard a bang, and at first, thought it was a balloon popping. As she collapsed on the ground, the clown calmly walked back to the LeBaron and drove away.
Joe later recalled the whole scene, saying when he realized the pop was not a balloon but a gunshot, everything felt like slow-motion, as he saw his mother collapse to the floor. He ran over to her, realized she'd been shot and was gasping for air, then frantically called 911, before dropping the phone and getting in his own car to chase after the clown. All of this while he was wearing a cast on his leg because he had recently broken it. In fact, upon initially seeing the clown on his front doorstep, he thought it could be for him, to cheer him up after his leg injury. Hearing the commotion, a neighbor rendered aid to Marlene until the ambulance arrived. Joe couldn't find the car or the clown, and by the time he returned, police and paramedics were swarming the house and the street. She was declared braindead at the hospital.
Police quickly came to the conclusion that the clown outfit was meant to lower everyone's guard while also serving as a disguise and a distraction. And with the balloons obscuring Marlene's view, the clown had time to pull out a gun, shoot her, then leave the scene before people realized what had actually happened.
And whoever it was knew she liked clowns. "My mom was fascinated with clowns," Joe said. "She even painted pictures of them." Whoever had shot her had clear knowledge of her childlike fascination in this interest and had used it against her. It was clearly a very personal attack.
Joe told police he believed the clown was a man due to the height, flat chest and large hands. He said the clown had a big orange smile and red nose. All he could distinguish was that the person had dark brown eyes. "I just remembered those big brown eyes," he said. But there was no shell casing left behind, so police couldn't specify what type of gun had been used, but due to that fact, they suspected it was a revolver. Joe was only 21 when he witnessed the murder of his mother and would end up falling victim to drugs and alcoholism in order cope with the loss.
When police got a tip about a clown outfit sold around the day of the murder, they went to store and looked at the surveillance cameras. To their surprise, it wasn't a man at all. They were looking at a woman - a tall thin white androgynous woman with brown hair had entered the store and knew exactly what she wanted - the same clown costume that was reported in the shooting. In a photo lineup, employees pointed out Sheila Keen as the woman who had been in the store that day.
Authorities were positive that Sheila and Michael were involved in the murder, but it would take years before an arrest would be made for the crime. Years during which she decided to dress as a clown for Halloween.
Michael Warren was arrested on other charges - he was found guilty on 43 counts of fraud, including altering odometers on the cars in his used car business and car rental company. When he was released, he and Sheila married and moved to Abingdon, Virginia, where Sheila started going by the name Debbie. They opened a restaurant called The Purple Cow in nearby Kingsport, Tennessee.
And when Sheila was finally arrested, a plea deal would be made. She was allowed to plead guilty to second degree murder in exchange for just 12 years in prison. Under sentencing guidelines for time served, she is expected to be released in 2025.

'Whack Job': Here's Where Trump's Would-Be Assassin Gave Everyone the Creeps
We knew this was coming, folks: everyone and their mother, through numerous agencies, knew about Ryan Wesley Routh, the wannabe Trump assassin who tried to pull a ‘Grassy Knoll’-like attack on Trump over the weekend. Routh hid in a shrubbery along Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, for 12 hours; he had a rifle with a scope and a GoPro. He wasn’t hunting groundhogs.
The Secret Service got lucky, as they didn’t sweep the course before Trump’s arrival, instead securing holes ahead of the former president as he played. An agent scouting the perimeter of the course saw a barrel and opened fire, causing Routh to flee. An eyewitness photo of him and the car he fled the scene in led to his arrest by police later.
We learned that the FBI knew about him in 2019, stemming from an illegal firearm possession case. The Wall Street Journal has a lengthy piece about how numerous people who encountered Routh were unnerved by him and his antisocial tendencies, warning higher-ups about this individual. In short, US authorities were warned multiple times about Routh. Still, first, Larry Provost had an excellent piece about an ex-CIA targeting officer who gave Townhall information about her read on Mr. Routh:
In information shared with Townhall.com, Sarah Adams, a former CIA targeter and intelligence analyst, shared a Be On The Lookout warning (BOLO) from June 2, 2023 warning of criminal activities by Ryan Routh. The information in Ms. Adams’ BOLO was, according to her, even reported to the U.S. government, specifically the Department of State. The BOLO is partially reprinted below: "📢 Important Announcement 📢 🚫 BOLO 🚫 "Beware of American Ryan Routh. Reports indicate that he is leading a human trafficking scheme. He is instructing Afghans to travel illegally to Iran with the promise they will link up eventually with the Ukrainian legion to fight. This is a fraud as NO official pathway exists for this from the Ukrainian Government for our allies in Afghanistan. Also, despite promised funding support it has not come to fruition and he has abandoned Afghans illegally in Iran. […] Ms. Adams was author of the BOLO, which was sent out to a number of humanitarian groups connected to helping Ukrainians after the Russian reinvasion of February 24, 2022, as well as groups assisting Afghans who had previously assisted the United States during the 20-year War in Afghanistan. Ms. Adams’ BOLO continued and shared Routh’s website, social media that included a LinkedIn page as well as then Twitter/now X account, and his regular phone number, that Routh apparently used across various platforms to include Signal, WhatsApp and Viber. (Townhall has specifically omitted this information) The BOLO was received and Mr. Routh was known to be ostracized by several leaders in the Ukrainian humanitarian community.
And now, The Wall Street Journal with the follow, which also featured Adams, who rightly called Routh a “whack job”:
…it was Routh’s time in Ukraine, where he traveled shortly after the Russian invasion in 2022 hoping to join the fight, where his tumultuous life full of failures and brushes with the law seemed to spiral further downward—and to alarm those who came in contact with him. Chelsea Walsh, a nurse who had several encounters with Routh in Kyiv in 2022, said his threats of violence worried her so much that she conveyed her concerns to a Customs and Border Protection officer in an hourlong interview at Washington’s Dulles airport in June 2022. Walsh told the officer during the interview, which took place after she returned to the U.S., that Routh was among the most dangerous Americans she met during her month-and-a-half-long stint in Ukraine. She showed the officer a notebook listing more than dozen names of Americans and others whose actions had alarmed her, she recounted. Under the heading “Overall Predatory Behavior (or antisocial traits)” were four names. Routh’s was at the top. Customs and Border Protection didn’t immediately respond to inquiries about the meeting. Routh’s behavior had been flagged to the FBI in the past, though not in connection to Ukraine. A tipster told the FBI in 2019 that Routh had a firearm despite being a felon, but when questioned further wouldn’t verify providing the information, an FBI official said Monday. The bureau passed the information onto authorities in Honolulu, where Routh was living at the time, and closed the investigation. His activities related to Ukraine brought him to the attention of a large group of people, many of whom quickly grew suspicious. Routh was well known among volunteer aid groups in Ukraine as a “fraudster” and “kind of a whack job,” said Sarah Adams, a former CIA officer who helped run a network that linked 50 aid groups to share information and coordinate humanitarian and volunteer efforts. He claimed to be working with the Ukrainian government to recruit foreign fighters but wasn’t, she said.
The media also knew about Routh, with The New York Times and Semafor interviewing him for pieces about his Ukraine activities, where he reportedly met with government officials. What do they have to say if there were any meetings at all?
Also, what the hell is this?

Trump assassination suspect urged volunteers to join Ukrainian army
Another assassination attempt was made on Donald Trump at his golf club in Florida on Sunday. Police have already detained the suspect. The shooter was reportedly running a website that recruits military personnel for the Ukrainian armed forces.
The US Secret Service said agents opened fire on the gunman near a golf course. The suspect fled in a black car, but a witness helped authorities identify the vehicle, leading to its detection. Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said at a press conference that a man who is considered a potential suspect is currently in custody.
Bradshaw stressed that Trump was playing golf at his West Palm Beach course, located near his Mar-a-Lago residence, when the shooter was spotted on the hole directly in front of him. Campaign spokesman Steven Cheung confirmed that the former president was safe after shots rang out near him.
Secret Service spokesman Rafael Barros said they are still not sure if the man managed to shoot their agents. Agents patrolling the golf course reportedly spotted the barrel of a shotgun coming out from behind the fence. The suspect was located approximately 300-500 yards (275-455 metres) away. A weapon resembling a Kalashnikov assault rifle with a telescopic sight was found at the scene, along with two backpacks and a GoPro camera believed to be intended for filming. Barros also added:
The threat level is high. We live in danger times.
Detained shooter supported Ukraine
Records show 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh lived in North Carolina for most of his life before moving to Kaaawa, Hawaii, in 2018. There, he and his son operated a barn building company, according to an archived version of that business’s web page, AP News reports.
Routh often wrote on social media about the war in Ukraine and had a website where he tried to raise money and recruit volunteers to travel to Kyiv to join the Ukrainian army. A photo of Routh posted on the site shows him smiling, wearing a T-shirt and jacket emblazoned with American flags.
In June 2020, he published a post on X asking then-President Trump to win re-election by issuing an executive order directing the Justice Department to prosecute police officers for misconduct.
That year, he also posted a post in support of the presidential campaign of Democrat Tulsi Gabbard (Hawaii), then a US representative who has since defected to Trump. However, in recent years, judging by his posts, he stopped liking Trump and began supporting President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
In July, following Trump’s assassination attempt in Pennsylvania, Routh urged Biden and Harris to visit those injured in the shooting at the hospital and attend the funeral of a firefighter killed at the rally. He wrote:
Trump will never do anything for them …. show the world what compassion and humanity is all about.
According to voter registration records, he registered as an unaffiliated voter in North Carolina in 2012 and last voted in person in the state’s Democratic Party primary in March 2024.
Routh has also made 19 small donations totalling $140 since 2019 using his Hawaii address to ActBlue, a political action committee that supports Democratic candidates, according to federal campaign finance records.
In May, an assassination attempt in Slovakia critically wounded the republic’s prime minister, Robert Fico. The assailant turned out to be Juraj Cintula, a supporter of the opposition Progressive Slovakia party. Cintula later admitted that he had opposed Fico’s policies when the Slovak prime minister promised not to send weapons to Ukraine, as Trump is now doing, and criticised Kyiv’s NATO bid.
Harris’ reaction to the assassination attempt
The White House said US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris had been briefed on the incident and were “relieved that he Trump is safe.” Harris, who is the Democratic presidential candidate, said:
Violence has no place in America.
She also added:
I am deeply disturbed by the possible assassination attempt of former President Trump today. As we gather the facts, I will be clear: I condemn political violence. We all must do our part to ensure that this incident does not lead to more violence.I am thankful that former President Trump is safe. I commend the US Secret Service and law enforcement partners for their vigilance. As President Biden said, our Administration will ensure the Secret Service has every resource, capability, and protective measure necessary to carry out its critical mission.
This is the second time Trump has been targeted by gunmen. On July 13, Trump was wounded in the ear in a shooting at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. One spectator died as a result of the shooting. The Secret Service informed that the shooter, 20-year-old Thomas Crooks, has been eliminated.

Sean Benedict, lead meteorologist for the Phoenix weather service, told the Arizona Republic that such high temperatures are not "too uncommon" for this time of year. "We are into the summer now," he said. "It just comes down to getting the right setup, which we do have with a strong high pressure over the area."
Storms to Lash Plains Region; 7 Tornadoes Confirmed Across Mid-Atlantic
While the Western and Southern U.S. face sweltering heat, forecasters expect a series of thunderstorms to bring heavy rain, high winds, and possible damaging conditions to the Plains region on Friday.
More than three million people across Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, and Iowa are under enhanced risk of severe storms beginning in the afternoon and continuing into the night, according to the weather service's Storm Prediction Center. Gibson Paul was living with Tomicka Peterson in West Palm Beach. She then tried to end the relationship and leave the apartment with some friends for safety. His response was to arm himself. He opened fire on the car that his now ex-girlfriend was in which contained a male driver, two female passengers, and a 3-year-old girl. One woman was grazed, but it was Tomicka who lost her life. Gibson received life in prison.
In 2015, the Alabama Sheriff's Department discovered the remains of an elderly husband and wife who were the victims of apparent crime, one of which was self-inflicted. Their investigation showed that the 77-year-old husband took down his wife, 76, before ending his own life. According to AL.com, there was "no history of domestic [issues]," and, "the couple was dealing with long-term illness."
In a shocking turn of events, Olympic and Paralympic runner Oscar Pistorius took out his girlfriend, model Reeva Steenkamp, at their home in Pretoria. Initially, he was charged with a lesser crime, but that was overturned and a much heftier charge was applied to the runner. At his trial, Pistorious said repeatedly that he accidentally slayed his girlfriend when he believed his home had been broken into.
Nathan Leuthold and his wife, Denise, met a Lithuanian student while on a missionary trip to Eastern Europe, when the girl turned 18 the husband and wife team sponsored her immigration to the United States. But things turned dark after Nathan allegedly fell in love with the student and took out his wife so the two could be together. He told police his wife had been the victim of a crime, but after looking at his computer and noticing that he'd googled how to silence a weapon and striking someone to render them unconscious, they knew they had their man.
Andrea Consales, a school teacher, was charged after she allegedly after she struck her husband in the head in on Valentines day. EMT's responding to Consales' call noted significant fractures sustained by the victim in the incident. During her trial, Consales told the court that her husband "had fallen," but the prosecution deemed the result consistent with a crime.
After moving into a new apartment on Valentine's Day, Dawn Dixon-Bey came after her husband while he was laying on the living room couch. Of the incident, Dixon-Bey argued self defense even though there was no evidence to support such a claim. However, there were multiple witnesses against the prosecuted that said they overheard her threaten to harm her husband during past arguments.
Shaun Warrick had only been dating Tiffany Barnhill for a short amount of time when he, along with two other women, kicked in the door to Tiffany's home and began firing indiscriminately. Tiffany Barnhill's body was found in the apartment a short time later. The police who responded described the scene they found on Valentine's day 2011 as "eerily quiet."
Richard Schoeck planned to meet his wife at Belton Bridge Park on Valentine’s Day to exchange cards; it was somewhat of a tradition. And a very endearing one at that. But at around 9 pm that night, the police received a phone call from Stacy Schoeck saying she found her husband slain by his truck. Stacy was not immediately considered a suspect until officials did a little research. One investigator found that there were some pending life insurance claims totalling $560,000. One of the policies was activated on Feb. 1, and Stacey was the sole beneficiary and on top of that, Stacy was also having an affair. So, Stacy conceived of a plot to take out her husband and make off with his life insurance; but she couldn’t do it alone. She recruited her former employee Lynitra Ross, and her personal trainer Reginald Coleman. All three were indicted in the crime.

West Palm Beach, Florida -- A 17-year-old boy has been arrested for brandishing what appeared to be a handgun on a video chat site and threatening to open fire at an LGBTQ event in Florida.
The suspect, whose identity was not revealed, was arrested in Canada after he declared he would shoot up the "Pride on the Block" event held in West Palm Beach on Sunday.
Cops said the teenager sent out threat messages on the social media platform Omegle, the New York Post reported. The teen, who claimed to be a Palm Beach County resident, is believed to be a Canadian citizen.
"The suspect, waving a gun in the video, said he lived in Palm Beach County, made anti-LGBTQ+ comments, and was going to commit a mass shooting on that day, at that event," the West Palm Beach Police Department wrote on Facebook.
The Miami Police Department came across the teenager's video threat Sunday morning and informed the West Palm Beach Police Department.
"In addition to augmenting the existing security plan for the event with additional uniformed, undercover and SWAT officers, the WPBPD's Strategic Intelligence Center (STIC) developed information that ultimately identified the location of the suspect," the FB post read.
An investigation was launched, involving the FBI, the New York Police Department, Toronto Police Service and Peel Regional Police. Pictures of the suspect were released, along with an urgent plea for information on the suspect.
The teenager was arrested in Canada early Monday morning. He faces a slew of charges in Florida that include making threats to commit a mass shooting.
West Palm Beach Deputy Chief Rick Morris said the teenager would be extradited to Palm Beach County, WPTV reported.
"I think his intentions were to commit a terrorist act, a hate crime," Morris said at a press conference. "These people are not heroes that are doing the shooting. They're criminals. Some of them are terrorists."
"Yesterday's event was beautiful. People were very scared," Morris said about the LGBTQ event that took place Sunday. "The Pulse Nightclub shooting is still on everybody's mind, especially in our gay community. We want the LGBTQ community to know we stand behind them. Every event they have, we will protect them from hate and ignorance."
"We will continue to work with West Palm Beach P.D. and PBSO to provide safe and inclusive events for the entire LGBTQ community here in Palm Beach County," said Julia Murphy, the chief development officer for the Compass LGBTQ Community Center.

But You Can Never Leave [Chapter 10: Premonitions]
Several weeks and depressive episodes later...I’m BACK! 😃
And guess what: we’re officially approximately halfway done with BYCNL! (There will probably be nineteen chapters total.)
The Queen/BoRhap fandom is feeling extra quiet lately, so if you’re still out there I’d LOVE it if you dropped me a comment/message/etc to let me know! I appreciate you all so much and hope you are finding things that bring you happiness, fulfillment, and peace. 💜
Chapter summary: Roger makes a purchase, Freddie makes a friend, Y/N makes an unsettling discovery, John makes a bewildering request.
This series is a work of fiction, and is (very) loosely inspired by real people and events. Absolutely no offense is meant to actual Queen or their families.
Song inspiration: Hotel California by The Eagles.
Chapter warnings: Language, babies (but not your babies...or are they?!).
Chapter list (and all my writing) available HERE

Please yell at me if I forget to tag you! 😊
“Roger, this is too much.” Your sandals click on the marble tile floor, a sandy gold like the beaches of Ostia. You peer up at the winding staircase, the Tudor-style diamond windows, the chandelier dripping with crystals. “This is way, way, way too much.”
“There’s no such thing as too much,” he parries merrily. “And look!” He pulls back an armful of sheer white curtains that had obscured the backyard. “The pool has a slide!”
You smile because you have to; he’s so elated, so young. “Roger, baby, unless you’re planning to acquire a literal harem of women we will never have a use for six bedrooms.”
“Sure we will!” He counts on his rugged fingers. “There’s one for us, and one can be the guest bedroom for when my mother or your parents visit, and then there’s one for if Chrissie ever wises up and leaves that wanker Brian and requires a place to stay between husbands, and one for when John needs an escape from that mind-numbing domestic purgatory of his, and one for Freddie’s overflow cats...” Roger trails off. He’s lost track.
“That still leaves one unnecessary bedroom.”
He grins. “One for Roger Junior.”
“Oh my god.”
“It’s a wonderful home for children,” the real estate agent chimes, flitting around rearranging pillows and dusting off tabletops. “Plenty of space to spread out in, lots of bedrooms, fenced-in yard, security gate, spectacular school district...and such a lovely garden to explore! Does your wife garden?” she asks Roger.
“Girlfriend,” he corrects. “And no, she’s thoroughly useless in the agricultural department.”
You laugh and shove him away. “I have other talents.”
“You certainly do.” He growls as he grips your waist, inhales you, bites playfully down your neck and collarbones. The real estate agent raises her eyebrows, but politely averts her gaze and pretends to check if an artificial fern needs watering.
It’s the downturn of August, 1976. The sun is glaring and hot and spills in through the windows, setting the metallic flecks in the marble floor alight. It makes you think of the Yellow Brick Road, of fantasies built piece by piece into truth. John and Veronica bought a house in Putney, Brian and Chrissie a far larger one in Chelsea, Freddie and Mary a posh flat in West Kensington. Roger has his heart set on nothing less than a Surrey mansion. On the rare occasion that Queen has been home since the start of the A Night At The Opera Tour, you and Roger stay in his shabby—dodgy, you remind yourself—old apartment and pack boxes late into the evening, giggling over all the random and ancient relics you stumble across, sticks of Freddie’s eyeliner and dust bunnies tangled in strands of Brian’s spiraled hair, crumpled up spheres of paper with excerpts of songs scrawled on them, fossilized crusts of grilled cheese sandwiches beneath the couch. Queen is preparing for a brief UK tour at the start of September, including a free concert in Hyde Park organized by entrepreneur Richard Branson. Then it’ll be back to the studio to record their next album, a highly anticipated album, an album that will make millions regardless of what’s on it; and what’s on it, in your humble and musically unlearned opinion, is pretty goddamn great.
“Seriously,” Roger prompts, quietly now. “Do you like it?”
“Of course I like it. I love it. I just don’t need it.”
He grins. “I know you don’t need it. But I do.”
“That list of yours is getting awfully long.”
“You have no idea. We haven’t even started on the exotic pet collection yet.”
“There’s a marvelous koi pond out in the backyard,” the real estate agent says. “You could add turtles, and frogs, and all different types of fish. I can recommend sturgeon, they have such an alluring primeval sort of look to them, and the shimmer on shubunkins is just delightful...”
“You heard the lady.” Rog stretches his right hand like he does when his arm bothers him, when the bone that will never fully heal aches like something ancient and irredeemable, like hunger, like unrequited love: fingertips sprayed outwards, then folded into his palm, then outwards again.
“Rog...I don’t know.”
“Come on, baby! It has everything. Roman-style master bath. Bedrooms with mirrors on the ceiling. Space for my own studio. Land. Enormous refrigerators. You’ll have abundant room for John’s drawings.”
“Ohhh, now that’s true.” John is always adding to your collection, slipping you sketches as the boys scurry around getting ready before a show, during songwriting sessions that last long after midnight, when the band and its expanding circle of friends and family gather for birthdays and holidays. You don’t ask him about You’re My Best Friend, or, come to think of it, any of his other songs. You don’t ask him how he feels about his new life as a husband and father. And in return, John doesn’t ask whether you’re ever going to marry Roger, if you even want to, if you worry about what the future holds. It’s a loaded peace, but a comfortable one. A safe one.
“It doesn’t bother you, does it?” Roger asks suddenly. “The girlfriend thing. The not-wife thing.”
“No,” you reply, smiling. “Of course not.” Roger isn’t someone who pens love letters, recites all the reasons why he cannot live without you, sings love songs. He rarely speaks of love at all. Roger is as he always is: all action, all energy, eyes forever looking forward. But he does love you; you’re sure he does. Everything he does bleeds with love.
“Good. Because there’s no one I’d rather acquire a harem and zoological park with.”
“Okay,” you relent. “But no lions or tigers or bears. I’m quite attached to your limbs, and you’ve come close enough to ruining them already.”
“Deal.” He taps the Canon that hangs from your shoulder by its strap. “We should document this momentous juncture. One day we can pull out the photo album and show Roger Junior. ‘Hey look kid, this was the day Mum and Dad bought the house you were conceived in.’”
You laugh, almost positive that Roger isn’t serious. “I can guarantee you that precisely zero percent of children would ever want to hear that.” Nevertheless, you ready the camera and hold it as far away as you can, the lens aimed towards you.
“Don’t forget to smile!” Roger trills in his high, victorious voice as he rests his chin in the dip of your collarbone.
You snap the photo. The flash bursts through the kitchen of the Surrey mansion, blinding you both. The artificial bluish light dissipates like smoke.
~~~~~~~~~~
His name is Laszlo, and he’s one of the most beautiful things you’ve ever seen...even when he’s not especially well-mannered.
Currently, Laszlo—an Eastern European moniker from somewhere in his mother’s comically vast family tree—is whimpering and squirming against Veronica’s chest as she pats his tiny back and sighs wearily. Veronica, ever the good Polish Catholic wife, is already pregnant again. Chrissie smirks triumphantly and puffs on a cigarette, her rings glimmering on her left hand, her dress violet and new and very expensive. Brian is lost in some deep intellectual conversation with Richard Branson, gesturing with his long nimble hands and nodding empathetically, his dark curls rustling in the breeze like the lithe branches of a willow tree.
“Thank god you’re here,” John calls as you and Roger approach. “Freddie is about to get this concert cancelled.”
“I’m about to make this concert fabulous, darling,” Freddie objects. “We need pyrotechnics, we need sparklers and explosions and fireworks!”
Mr. Branson shakes his head. “Can’t do it, Fred. The embers could travel and set the trees on fire.”
Freddie groans. “Tell him, Roger!”
Roger shrugs, grinning, resting his elbow on John’s shoulder. “I don’t know, maybe we shouldn’t burn down Hyde Park.”
“You’ll be under a huge orange canopy, right over there.” Mr. Branson motions with a sweep of his arm. “You can’t do anything aerial. Flashing lights, sure. Fog, sure. But no fire. No explosions. Oh, and there’s technically a noise ordinance, but we’re working out a deal so the city won’t enforce it on the day of the show.”
“Orange?!” Freddie squeals.
“How will the acoustics be in a tent?” Brian asks, troubled.
John smiles mischievously. “Yes, how dreadful if no one could hear the extraneous guitar solos.”
“I have a gong, Rich,” Roger says. “Everyone will be able to hear my gong, right?”
“Your gong?” Freddie whines. “What about my voice?!”
“I miss stadiums,” Roger grumbles. You exchange a knowing glance with Mary and Chris and Veronica, who is imploring Laszlo to take a bottle. Our boys are difficult, aren’t they?
“The acoustics will be fine,” Mr. Branson snaps. “The tent color will be fine. Everything will be fine. You don’t need any fucking fireworks. Please for the love of god just tell me what kind of sandwiches you want.”
“That’ll be an ordeal as well,” Chrissie quips, and you all laugh; even Laszlo perks up, stops wriggling, glimpses around the open green space with curious greyish eyes like John’s.
Some teenage employee carrying a tangle of cables trots over, sweat dripping down his flushed freckled cheeks. “Mr. Branson? There’s someone from the city here to see you.”
Richard Branson smacks his forehead. “Jesus christ. Okay, I’ll be right there. Hey, Steve, hey, have you seen Dom? Go find Dom and tell her to come over here, okay? Thanks.”
The teenage employee nods and disappears into a sea of bustling people ferrying equipment, fliers, chairs, messages.
“I’m so sorry about this,” Mr. Branson says. “These city bastards are out to crucify me. You’d think they’d be a little more grateful that Queen of all bands is willing to put on a free concert in their backyard, but alas. Hey, Dom, over here!”
He waves to a petite young woman with a glossy shock of black hair and olive Mediterranean skin. She’s wearing all yellow: shorts patterned with daffodils, a tank top the color of butter, a headband like a sunbeam. One of her trim arms is cradling a notebook; the other reaches out so she can shake hands with everyone. The gesture is courteous but somewhat unnatural.
“This,” Mr. Branson begins, “is my personal assistant Dominique. She’s wonderful, she’ll listen to all your pretentious tales of woe and do it with a smile, because she’s a true professional. Better yet, she’s going to ask you the tedious questions I was supposed to so you don’t have to wait for me to finish sparring with the city council. Okay? Okay. Have fun. I’ll be back.”
“It’s a pleasure,” Dom says placidly in a heavy French accent. So that’s why her handshake was off somehow, stilted and weak; the French usually kiss as a greeting. You choke back a snort as you imagine Veronica’s reaction to that. Mr. Branson stalks away muttering about litigious twats.
“Oh, aren’t you just darling!” Freddie circles Dom, admiring her outfit, her hair, her gold hoop earrings. He wafts his cigarette around flamboyantly, completely forgetting to smoke it. “The French are so tasteful, aren’t they? You simply must connect me with your stylist.”
“I would be happy to, Mr. Mercury. But regrettably, I am my own stylist.”
“Ahh!” Freddie exhales, enamored. Mary lifts Laszlo from Veronica’s tired arms and cradles him, tickles his nose, beams down into his fresh and inquisitive face.
Dom pulls a pen from her shirt pocket. “May I ask your sandwich preferences for the day of the show?”
She immediately receives four very different answers, and she raises an eyebrow, her pen hovering over the lined paper of her notebook.
“I’m so sorry about them,” Chrissie says, and Dom chuckles civilly.
“Ham and cheddar,” Freddie tells her, synthesizing the responses. “Bacon, fried fish, steak and onion jam...and something for Brian. Cucumber maybe. Could we get some cucumber sandwiches, dear?”
“You’re a vegetarian?” Dom asks Brian, jotting down notes.
“He’s morally superior to us in every way,” John sighs dreamily, and Rog and Freddie cackle.
“I’m not a strict vegetarian,” Bri clarifies. “But for the sake of the animals and the planet, I try to limit meat when I can.”
Roger adds: “And I order twice as much of it, just to spite him.”
Dominique leads Queen around the portion of Hyde Park where the concert will be held, runs through the itinerary, fields a litany of questions and complaints. And you decide that you like Dom; she’s professional and reserved, yes, but she’s also patient with Freddie, smiles at his jokes, compliments his black-and-yellow striped shirt (“We match, and you remind me of a...oh, what’s the word in English? That bug...it flies around buzzing...buzz buzz...a bee!”), asks him what he’s planning to wear to the show. She assuages Brian, listens to John, takes the time to chat with the women about children, makeup, homes, what it’s like to be in love with rock stars. But Dom mostly ignores Roger, dodges his grins, remains staunchly undazzled. And that would worry you—because Roger loves the chase, you know that firsthand—if he hadn’t already taught you how to trust him, how addictively flawless and exhilarating life with Roger Taylor could be.
When Laszlo begins to fuss in Mary’s grasp, you take your turn holding him; and he blinks up at you with eyes that are wide and clear and seeking, and you find yourself feeling like you always do when you’re around your godson: like maybe you have a stronger opinion about wanting children than you thought you did, like you can’t stop envisioning a baby with Roger’s eyes instead of John’s.
That evening—after leaving Hyde Park, after dinner, after drinks mixed out by the koi pond—as you doze in a sweltering bubble bath and steam curls through the air, you hear Roger’s voice floating from the kitchen downstairs. You rise out of the tub, towel yourself off, slip into a white silk robe as rivulets of bathwater slink down the back of your neck. You tread gingerly towards the kitchen, keep silent so you can hear, lurk in the shadows of the hallway with your palms pressed flat against the wallpaper.
“Hello, is Dominique Beyrand in?” Roger says into the kitchen phone. “I’ve been trying to track her down. Sure, I’ll wait. Thanks.” After a pause, he continues. “Hi, Dom! It’s Roger Taylor, from Queen. The irritating blond one. I was just wondering if you’d happened to stumble across my wallet since this afternoon, I seem to have misplaced it. Oh, you haven’t? Bloody hell. Well, thank you for taking my call. Aw, that’s so kind of you, I’m sure I’ll locate it eventually. I’ve got a terrible habit of losing things. Okay, thanks so much. Goodnight to you too. See you soon. Cheers.” He hangs the phone up as you step into the kitchen. His smile is bright and innocuous. “Hey, baby!”
“Who was that?” Your tone is similarly casual; or so you hope.
“Just Richard Branson’s assistant. That French woman Dominique. I can’t find my wallet and thought I might have left it at Hyde Park, but no dice. Oh well.”
Roger begins rummaging through the drawer full of business cards and address books, tapping his foot, humming to himself. And surely he isn’t trying to avoid my eyes. Your gaze skates over the marble countertop. There, by the refrigerator, just a few feet—a meter, you correct yourself to be properly British—from where Roger stands, is his black leather wallet.
“It’s right there, Rog,” you say, pointing. And now your voice isn’t so nonchalant.
Roger spins to check. “Oh my god, I completely missed it!” He snatches up the wallet with a celebratory chuckle. “I’m such a twit sometimes. You’re too fucking smart, you know that? You’re making me look bad.”
He rushes to you, takes your left hand, bites your knuckles lightly like he did outside Massachusetts General Hospital under dawn skies over two years ago. And then Roger whispers to you, nuzzling your neck scented with lavender soap and doubt.
“Let’s go to bed.”
~~~~~~~~~~
There’s a knock at the door. John is standing on the front porch of the Surrey house with his hands in his pockets and a vague sort of smile on his face. He’s in a black suit.
“Get ready,” he says. “Do your hair, throw on some earrings. Maybe the pearls Roger got you last Christmas. We’re going shopping.”
“Why do I need to look fancy to go shopping?”
John shrugs, feigning indifference; but the puckish glint in his eyes gives him away. Yet there’s something a little sad and weighty in them too, isn’t there?
Your own eyes narrow. “I’m onto you, bassist.”
He laughs as you tug teasingly at a lock of his downy hair. “You always are.”
John takes you to a dress shop on Bond Street where the corsets trickle with gemstones and the designers all have Italian names: Armani, Prada, Abate, Cerruti, Valentino, Biagiotti. He sinks into a leather chair just outside the fitting room and lights a cigarette, takes a long drag, points to you with the lit end.
“Go ahead. Go wild. It’s a blank check.”
“Really?!” You glance around the shop, your pulse racing. “But I don’t know the occasion. I don’t want to be underdressed or overdressed or whatever. Although I don’t think I’ve ever been overdressed in my life.”
“Yes, you can’t seem to shake those pragmatic service industry roots, can you?” Another drag. “You need a dress and matching shoes. Formal, but not too formal. Think a record company party. Elegant but exciting. Lots of sparkle. Slightly slutty, if you’re so inclined.”
“This is an unconventional bonding activity,” you tell John, trying to conceal your nerves.
“Love, this isn’t something you can fail at,” he says, gently now. “You’re going to look amazing no matter what. So just have fun with it. This isn’t a test. This is one of those adventures you’re always searching for.”
I can promise you that your life will never feel like a cage; that’s what Roger once told you. But maybe you don’t always want to be quite so free, so unmoored. “Okay. But you have to swear to give honest opinions. I don’t want to show up looking like a wombat because you were too nice to say anything.”
John just chuckles to himself, shakes his head, devours cigarette after cigarette.
With the assistance of one of the shop employees, you climb into a pastel pink dress with a full ruffled skirt, an emerald green dress with an empire waist and loose sheer sleeves, a shimmering metallic silvery dress with a form-fitting silhouette. John nods at all of them, wholeheartedly approves, defers to your judgment. He periodically consults his wristwatch as he taps his cigarettes on the rim of an ashtray, and deflects your questions when you ask him why. Then you step out of the fitting room—balanced on gold heels—in a white dress with a hem that hits just above your knees, a halter neckline, a slim keyhole down the center of your chest; and John’s cigarette tumbles out of his fingers.
“That’s the one,” he breathes, soaking it in. Then he asks the employee to cut off all the tags and whips out his wallet. “Toss your old clothes and shoes in a bag. We gotta catch a cab.”
“We’re going straight to the party?”
“We certainly are.”
“What the hell kind of ridiculously lame party starts at 3 p.m.?”
John smirks craftily. “The kind of party we’re going to. Let’s rock and roll, Florence Nightingale.”
John gives the taxi driver an address and you sail through the streets of London, splashing through shallow evaporating puddles, squinting when sunlight ricochets glaringly off the slick pavement. The taxi rolls to a stop outside of a grand stone building with columns and intricate carvings of leaves and flowers. The sign outside reads: Kensington and Chelsea Register Office.
You turn to John. “Who’s getting married?!”
He just smiles, a deep harbor of secrets.
“It’s Fred and Mary, right? Jesus christ, John, you can’t wear white to someone else’s wedding, Mary’s going to strangle me—”
“It’s not Mary’s wedding.”
Slowly, your jaw falls open. “No,” you whisper in disbelief.
John darts out of the taxi, jogs around to your side, and opens the door for you. You gape up at him senselessly, struggling to remember how to form sentences.
“John...this...this is some bizarre and elaborate joke, right?”
“Nope.” He offers his hand, helps you out of the taxi, leads you up the front steps of the Register Office. Inside, everyone is waiting: Freddie and Mary, Brian and Chrissie, Veronica with babbling baby Laszlo, Roger’s mother and sister...and Roger, of course, in his best black suit and bleached blond hair and trademark guaranteed-to-dazzle (unless of course you’re Dominique Beyrand) grin. He flies to you and takes your hands in his.
“You look incredible, baby.”
“Roger, what’s going on...?”
“Don’t freak out,” he commands, and instantly your panic vanishes. There’s a pink rose pinned to his lapel. “I know we don’t feel like we need to get married. I know we agree it doesn’t mean anything.” Is that still true? “So don’t think that this is about trying to trap you or control you or bullshit white picket fences or anything. And of course you can say no, I won’t be mad, no one will hold that against you, we can find some other reason to party. But the simple facts are that I’m a British national with a mansion and a plethora of perpetual royalties and you’re an American here on a work visa, and the law gets a bit thorny in this situation. And I want to make sure you’re taken care of if something happens to me. That you can carry out my wishes. That you can stay here with the band as long as you want to. So, I’ve got your passport and birth certificate and everything else we need...and some overly-enthusiastic witnesses. Are you cool with signing a piece of paper today?”
“Of course she bloody well is!” Freddie exclaims, and everyone laughs. Mary is carrying a basket full of champagne flutes, Chrissie several bottles of pink champagne, Roger’s sister a tub of ice. Brian has been entrusted to chronicle the event with your Canon. Veronica is more giddy than you’ve ever seen her, even more animated than she was at her own wedding. Well, I suppose she doesn’t have to worry about any illicit pregnancies or condemnatory great aunts this time around.
“Okay,” you tell Roger. And you wish you weren’t beaming so broadly your cheeks ache, because it feels a little pathetic to be this happy about an admittedly meaningless wedding. But it does make you happy, your general aversion towards conventionality be damned.
You sign papers and you toast glasses and you giggle uproariously in the lobby of the Register Office with the best friends you’ve ever had, guzzle pink champagne, pose for photos, take your turn holding Laszlo, kiss Roger beneath the stone arch of the centuries-old building.
It doesn’t mean anything, you remind yourself, suddenly very aware of the missing weight of a ring on your left hand. It doesn’t mean anything. It doesn’t mean anything.
But you catch a few furtive glances between Chrissie and Bri, the twist of a frown on Freddie’s face when he thinks no one is watching, the distance in John’s shadowy eyes as he inhales champagne like air.
It doesn’t mean anything.

Circumstances of Disappearance: Carolyn Denise Brown, Sheketah Michele Brown, Barry Michael Brown, and Brandon Mitchell Brown were last seen in their hometown of Port St. Lucie on July 16, 1985. The father of the family was named James Michael Brown. James and Carolyn were the parents of Barry and Brandon, but Sheketah was from a previous relationship of James. James and Carolyn were teachers in Fort Pierce, and had been married for ten years.
In the February of 1983, James had been fired because of an incident where he beat Sheketah (aged 9 at the time) with a belt for spending 10 cents of her lunch money on a pencil at school. School officials noted the welts and cuts from the injuries. James was arrested for aggravated child abuse. He got 3 years of probation and community service. His teaching license was also revoked for the three years of his probation. He subsequently found work as a 4-H counselor. James reportedly had mental health issues and was allegedly abusive towards Carolyn as well. It was reported she would often stay at their church with the children due to James’ temper.
In August, Carolyn’s mother contacted police after not hearing from the family since July 4th and she was concerned Brandon was not enrolled in preschool. When officials went to the house, they found rotting food out on the dining room table as if the family had been eating breakfast and there was fresh paint in the master bedroom, which was on top of blood splatter. Carolyn’s purse was located in a corner of the garage; inside it, every piece of her identification had been cut up. The family was officially listed as missing after the next school year began and neither Carolyn nor James reported to teach. Later James called Carolyn’s sister and told her she could have everything inside his home. Carolyn’s sister asked where the rest of the family was and James replied, “Out there.”
James then drove to Savannah, Georgia. He gave himself the false name of “Demetrius Jones” and a false date of birth to the police. He stated that someone had robbed him and shot him in the head. His true identity was discovered and that was when he admitted he had murdered his wife and children and tried to take his own life on July 18th.
James’ car was later located in Georgia. He told police that on July 14th he shot Carolyn in the back and smothered 2 year old Brandon. He woke the other two kids up and took them to a park near their home and put Brandon’s body into the back of his car. He took the older children to a shopping center and sent them to get some candy. He disposed of Brandon’s body behind the shopping center. He moved Carolyn’s body to another bedroom, then took her body in his car and dumped it near Schumacher Buick in West Palm Beach. He stated that he took the older children and drove them out of state, then shot them along the side of the road near Brunswick, Georgia.
The areas he said he dumped the bodies yielded no results and the bodies were not located. He was put on trial for the murders of Carolyn and Brandon in Florida, but was not convicted. He was not charged in Georgia because they could not find the bodies. Some investigators believe James lied about where he disposed of the bodies.
Several court-appointed mental health professionals diagnosed James as a paranoid schizophrenic; he stated he heard voices and saw visions. He was committed to a Florida mental health facility after the court’s decision in 1985. He was moved to a halfway house in 1996 and released from the program in 1997. In 2005, however, he was imprisoned after he threatened to kill a bank clerk during a robbery.
Carolyn, Sheketah, Brandon and Barry have never been located.
Please contact the Port St. Lucie Police Department at (561) 871-5000 if you have any information regarding the disappearance of Carolyn, Sheketah, Brandon and Barry.

Palm Beach Sheriff: Security Level At Mar-A-Lago Is The 'Highest It Could Possibly Be' In Wake Of Assassination Attempt
A Secret Service agent guards the Mar-a-Lago home of former President Donald Trump on March 21, 2023 in Palm Beach, Florida.
During a press conference in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Monday, authorities gave updates on the second assassination attempt on 45th President Donald Trump’s life.
Before getting into the details of the assassination attempt itself, Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw asserted in an announcement that the security level at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate was and is the “highest it can possibly be,” following the second attempt on Sunday.
Authorities also made sure it was known that Trump’s golf session at Trump International Golf Club West Palm Beach on that day was “off the record,” meaning that it was not included in any schedules that the general public could view.
Secret Service was a hole ahead of where Trump was hitting when an agent suddenly spotted the AK-style rifle sticking out through the fence. They immediately fired back.
While gunshots did go off, Sheriff Bradshaw clarified that the suspect “didn’t even get close to getting a round off.”
As soon as shots were fired from the Secret Service agent’s gun, 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh fled the scene in a car. He even left behind a digital camera, a backpack, and a black bag containing food in addition to the loaded AK-style rifle with a scope on the course’s fence line. He was apprehended soon after.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced that cell phone data revealed that Routh was near the gold course for nearly 12 hours before the agent noticed him and fired shots.
Routh has an extensive criminal record dating back to the 1990’s. In 2002, according to North Carolina Department of Corrections records, he was charged with a possession of a weapon of mass destruction and a felony. In another incident, he was charged with multiple misdemeanors, including a hit-and-run offense, resisting arrest, and a concealed weapons violation.
Sheriff Bradshaw concluded the press conference by stating that Trump called him on Sunday night and “thanked [him] for everything that we did along with the Secret Service.”
“He knows we worked great together, and he feels safe — that’s important because he is. And what we did yesterday proves that the system can work,” Bradshaw said. “Because the suspect didn’t even get close to getting a round off and we apprehended them, and brought him to justice. So, we’re were very, very proud of that.”
This second assassination attempt came just 50 days before Donald Trump goes head-to-head against Vice President Kamala Harris in the presidential election.
