4 characters added, this will take a while so this is ok I might have to move some of these characters around later, but I'm pretty sure this is the best place to put Ray, Damian, and Dick

I would like Calculator, in his infinite intelligence to explain to me how on Earth the Titans could be considered even vaguely responsible for a Greek demigod's hellhound hurting his kids.

Marvel Team-Up #49: Madness Is All in the Mind!
Read Date: February 26, 2023 Cover Date: September 1976 ● Writer: Bill Mantlo ● Penciler: Sal Buscema ● Inker: Mike Esposito ◦ Dave Hunt ● Colorist: Phil Rachelson ● Letterer: John Costanza ● Editor: Archie Goodwin ●
Tumblr media
**HERE BE SPOILERS: Skip ahead to the fan art/podcast to avoid spoilers
Reactions As I Read: ● it doesn't matter if he's encased in a suit of armor, a fall like that should have killed Tony Stark. oh well. no one reads comics for the realism, right? ● he is unconscious, though, and a bystander tries to remove his helmet so he can see if he's breathing or not ● oo, so wraith can do some mind-control stuff ● he's really messing with Spider-Man's (and my!) head ● Iron Man's awake again
Tumblr media
● this is the first contemptuous father/daughter relationship I've read in comics. wait--no, scratch that: Wendy and Noah Kuttler. But I don't think I saw Calculator and his daughter interacting in person, whereas we see the captain and the ex-commissioner in all their toxic relationship glory ● initially I was surprised Jean followed her father's footsteps in law enforcement, but he's so much a "police work is no job for a woman" type of guy, that it makes sense for her character to become a cop--and then rise through the ranks--just to prove him wrong ● the father delivers a letter that seems to be written by Jean's brother, but her brother is supposedly dead… and he signed it "The Wraith" ● look at the venom these two have for each other
● so is Brian DeWolff the Wraith? ● we learn that the father lost his job as commissioner because he refused to accept his son's death as fact ● and Jean was tasked with investigating the disappearance as a brand-new detective. I bet her father believes that his son would have been found if his daughter--he literally said a woman belongs in the home--weren't the one at home ● wow, the toxic family dynamics at work here… ● 👏👏👏👏
Synopsis: While investigating a series of bombings, Spider-Man and Iron Man find themselves working with Captain Jean DeWolff. When the bomber tried to attack the police precinct, the two heroes attempted to stop the bomber. While Iron Man was incapacitated by the bomb, Spider-Man finds himself powerless against the Wraith, who is now crushing the wall-crawler's wrists while holding him over the edge of a building. While by-standards on the scene try to help Iron Man, Spider-Man is shocked to discover that the Wraith is able to read his mind. Next, the villain makes the building they stand on disappear before dropping Spider-Man to his death. As the wall-crawler tries to fire a web to break his fall, but all reality warps around him. Although Iron Man tries to catch him, Spider-Man fatally strikes the ground… or did he? Suddenly, reality snaps back to normal, and Spider-Man discovers that he is still in the grips of the Wraith and that he experienced a powerful illusion.
Before the Wraith can torment Spider-Man anymore, Jean DeWolff threatens to shoot from across the street. The distraction causes the Wraith to loosen his control over Spider-Man's mind, allowing the hero to break free. Still, the villain manages to evade capture, then uses his mental powers to try and force Jean to shoot Spider-Man. By this point, Iron Man has recovered from the bomb blast and flies up to the roof of the building just in time to deflect the bullets fired at Spider-Man. When the pair attempt to capture the Wraith, he obscures their vision with a gas pellet, covering his escape. It's then that DeWolff's officers burst into her office, having been delayed by a firebomb that was planted on the front door.
She is also visited by her father Phillip DeWolff, who is unimpressed with the way his daughter has been running the precinct. However, he has come on other matters, showing her a letter that was apparently written by her brother, who is deceased. Jean can't believe it and thinks that it is some kind of fraud. Phillip had it checked and it is authentic, confirming his belief that his son never died. He then leaves, letting Jean process the hate letter that was supposedly sent by her brother. Showing it to Spider-Man and Iron Man, she explains her family life. She explains that she and Brian had a loving relationship, it was her father who disapproved of her police work. Phillip had high hopes for Brian, until one day he was shot during a police chase and died. With no answers at hand, Iron Man suggests that this is possibly a supernatural situation and recommends that they get in contact with Doctor Strange.

Okay to start with, I am COMPLETELY on-board with this idea.
But consider - Wendy AND Gus as Barbara’s Oracle apprentices (with Cass, Steph and Charlie as her Batgirl ones).
And, yes, this is more evidence that Barbara is just as bad as Bruce when it comes to adopting kids to turn into her superhero proteges.

What if Kate and Bruce were born around the same time? What if the tragedies that made them the heroes they become, also happened around the same time? What if the two of them ended up living together? What if the two of them ended up as huge theater nerds? What if they had some actual healthy coping mechanisms along side their totally not super unhealthy vigilante detective hobby that nearly kills them on a weekly basis? What if everything wasn't a shitty cheap ass drama show written by racist, misogynist, homophobic, all the bad ism's and phobia's and ist's?
(No disrespect to the individuals who try to give us good diverse content. Actually, all the respect because DC as whole is a weak dumb ass bitch and kudos to those people for tolerating that bastard.)
Here is my sad, pathetic attempt to fix the DC universe that I am very much under qualified and under prepared for. Enjoy. (And I'll get to finishing the relationship tags soon, it's just not on the agenda right about now. There is just so many fucking characters. The character tags are technically unfinished because that won't be all of the characters showing up. Do I really hate myself and DC that much?)

What's your opinion on the idea of Barbara Gordon x Wendy Kuttler? If you don't recall her she worked with Babs and Stephanie in the Batgirl comic pre-N52, taking up the name "Proxy". She was previously in Teen Titans with her brother Marvin(they were based on the same W&M from Super Friends), where they didn't get to leave that series particularly gracefully :/ I tend to think of BxW somewhat in an elseworlds sense.
I'm always a slut for Babs in a mentorship role

Does DC Comics have against characters in wheelchairs?
I know in Marvel Comics. that Charles Xavier is able to walk again.
Then it got me thinking about DC COMICS.
There were already four noteworthy wheelchair users in DC Comics in the top of my head.
Barbara Gordon(Oracle),
Wendy Kuttler(Proxy),
Niles Caulder(Chef),
Drew Fisher ( Vengeance Moth)
Two of them had their wheelchaired removed and is able to walk again.
One of them doesn't exist in the New 52.
And the only one still in a wheelchair is from Gail Simone The Movement Series.
It makes me think if Editoral has a anti wheelchair mandate along with their anti-marriage mandate.

I wonder which group I should finish next....

Reading "Batgirl Rising"
Maybe it's because this is my first time reading it, but...
The scenes with Wendy and Babs...
...How the FUCK can DC even think about making Babs magically well and Batgirl again after this?
(and everyone who recc'd me to read Steph's Batgirl--you are all absolutely right, it does just make you LOVE Steph!)

Batgirl (vol. 3) #12: The Flood, part 4
Read Date: February 01, 2023 Cover Date: September 2010 ● Writer: Bryan Q. Miller ● Penciler: Lee Garbett ◦ Pere Pérez ● Inker: Jonathan Glapion ◦ Rodney Ramos ◦ Pere Pérez ● Colorist: Guy Major ● Letterer: Travis Lanham ● Editor: Harvey Richards ◦ Michael Siglain ●
Tumblr media
**HERE BE SPOILERS: Skip ahead to the fan art/podcast to avoid spoilers
Reactions As I Read: ● pick up with Batgirl diving through the sky toward Calculator's compound ● (recap) Calculator kidnapped Oracle, turned the people of Gotham into techno-zombies, can kill said zombies at the push of a button ● she opens her parachute at 1,000 feet ● (cut to Barbara p.o.v.) Babs used Calculator's link to her against him, entering his mind instead of the other way around ● she finds a child Noah Kuttler locked in a cage, trying to solve some sort of puzzle ● looks like a rubics cube; his hands are bloody from working it so long ● Oracle hates that she feels a stab of pity for him ● adult Noah comes up behind her and hits her with a chair ● "We're linked, Noah! If one of us dies while connected, who knows what will happen?" ● (back to Batgirl) there are lasers shooting in the corridor. Wendy is circling overhead at 45,000 feet and can't do more to help ● Wendy says that when she and Marvin (a brother?) ran away from home to join the Teen Titans, their goal was to make the world a better place from people like her father
Tumblr media
● Stephanie gets past the turrets and comes face-to-face with a corpse ● (back to Barbara and Noah) he shouts that she stole his daughter from him; she says she saved her from him ● they're interrupted by another of Noah's memories… Wendy and Marvin (I like that M and W are inverse reflections of each other) as infant twins, crying ● their mother shot herself in the head; Noah regrets not being home when she brought the twins home ● Marvin is the corpse Stephanie found ● Batgirl also finds Calculator's inanimate body, plugged into his system ● Wendy warns her not to touch anything because he'll have some kind of fail-safe in place ● Batgirl sets off a motion sensor. in 2:59, the drones will be terminated ● (inside Calculator's mind) Oracle is trying to make sense of Calculator's nest of memories ● another memory: Noah is beating Kid Eternity, saying he's only being kept alive so Noah can see Marvin again. Eternity's body gave out, so Calculator managed to make his mind keep working ● all the while, Barbara is trying to find the way out ● the exit button is behind a picture of the twins who look to be late teens or young adults ● Noah thanks Barbara for forcing him to face some things about himself he's been trying to avoid ● but he's reaching to unplug something that will kill them both ● (back in the real world) Batgirl finds something that she destroys, halting the drone termination process with 3 seconds to spare ● heh, and that activates a second fail-safe ● …which is some sort of giant robot monster thing ● but then Wendy's aircraft (a Batwing?) crashes into the room, destroying the robot ● Barbara wakes up in the real world, her first words being, "I knew I could count on you not to listen to me, Batgirl." she then hugs her and says she was wrong when she said she didn't need help, and that Steph and Wendy did great ● with tears in her eyes, Wendy pushes a button to access the Mindbridge ● this sends Calculator back into his own mind ● a few panels of "Blimp-Master/Blimpmaster" at the end ● and Wendy debuts as "Proxy"! Noice. I like it.
● 👏👏👏👏

wendy and Marvin and wonder dog timeline (hc)
ok so. we have to have the og origins for them. This means that Diana at least for a bit was pretending to be Diana Prince (or something or other) and that Bruce trained with Harvey Harris.
Anyways the only thing I'm 100% keeping from the original cartoon is that Marvin is a metahuman. Everything else comes from the comics. So Marvin goes to Ivy University (he had scholarship offers between Raleigh, Gotham, and Ivy; Chose Ivy since it's not connected to any of the super friends) and Wendy goes to Amazon College on Paradise Island. Before they both go to college they have a short stint as a rock band. Marvin continues making music while in college.
(The Wonder Twins have their original origin as well, I like them living with Professor Nichols ok!)
Anyways After their time at their respective universities they get married and get their Scooby-Doo Team Up Jobs. (Wonder Dog has been doing his Scooby-Doo Team Up job since they went to their universities)
As for Proxy? Simple. Their mom was a Marvin fan. Marvin Kuttler also liked the music which is why he has an "M" shirt. The Wendy thing is just a coincidence
The wonder twins are also slightly younger than Marvin & Wendy; like 2-3 years
