Knitting a freehand bag and started wondering how often people even use patterns, anyway. So--how often do you use a pattern when you make things ? This include knitting/crochet/sewing/weaving/nalbinding/bobbin lace/tatting/etc but also things like woodworking, cooking, and baking. If you want to just pick the thing you do most often that's fine.

I personally do not use patterns as I find them far more confusing than just figuring out the construction of an item and simply making it. I do very occasionally browse ravelry for inspiration but have downloaded maybe 2. In the 5 or so years since I joined. And have followed exactly 1, which I modified every single aspect of. In my defense, dyslexia.

i found the title for this fic 'the heart is an eye' from a web weaving post here on tumblr, whose theme was 'to be loved is to be seen'---and i was like, WOAHHHH!! doesn't this quote fit that sukuna fic of mine to a tee!?

on one hand, we have the mc who has been in love with sukuna since forever; her attention has been sukuna's long before she knew what it means to bequeath one's attention to another--on the other hand, we have sukuna who cares so much for the mc, but does not love her the way she wishes to be loved; he looks at her, daily, very frequently; but he never quite 'sees' her

and i've added the aspect of arranged marriage to it because i rly RLY wanna explore the relationship between marriage and love--i deem it to be smthng so interesting, yk? 😮‍💨😮‍💨😇

WIP Wednesday

The weather has my joints pretty achey right now, so a bit of good news bad news. The bad news is that I can't knit because it hurts my wrists worse. The good news is that because I can't do any of my other hobbies, and cross stitch doesn't hurt my joints, I've made a ton of progress on it!

The lighthouse is a lot more visible, and I finished most if not all of the sky section on the right (meaning not very much sky lrft in general, finally and thankfully.)

Hopefully once the rain and colder weather settles down, I'll be able to get back to working on that blanket, though, since I wanted to be able to drop it off to the charity organizer at our next knitting guild meeting so she can hand it out.

so i know ive talked about kit x elora before bc of the tension and that last scene that can be read romantic (to me its honestly just a good ole crack ship or maybe the posibility for a throuple but yeh, nothing can get between tanthamore. but thats for another post), but to be honest i just really want to take a moment to recognize it as a friendship because it is just so rare to find a female friendship, more so at the center of a show, and even more so a fantasy show - fantasy being a genre were most of the characters are always male and, if you get a woman, its usually just someone's love interest.

but in this show we got two women whose friendship is so powerful they manage to complete the quest and find airk because of it. and they still have their rivarly!! but its not a petty catfight!! and its not over some boy!!! and even beyond that theyre both so complex, they have other struggles aside from their rivalry and their trauma, they even have love interests of their own!! like, honestly, this show is so amazing in so many ways (interracial wlw relationship being respected and developed and given a place in all of it without either of the women being reduced to just a love interest???) but i just think we should take a moment to apreciate the realness of these women, and the platonic relationship thats built between them, between kit and elora, and how they overcame everything, together, to become pivotal to the plot. without the trust they develop between them, without elora coming into herself and persisting in her helping kit, and kit letting go of her resentment and jealousy to believe in her, the whole crew would have never found the immemorial city and would have probably ended up dead in the shattered sea trying to find a way back

i just- female friendships, man. theyre so good and powerful and important
