Sonic 💙

Treasure Planet

He thinks Jim Hawkins is the coolest Disney protagonist: loves the action, the pirates, the dramatic flair of the characters, & the board! The solar board tricks are his favorite scenes! He sometimes asks Tails to make him one, but Tom says no. (Lol)

Loves the world building & even thinks about buying the original “Treasure Island,” says he will but completely forgets. Asked if there was a comic ver. or a graphic novel.

Was suspicious of Long John Silver, but adored their relationship at the end. Thinks his cyborg arm is cool!

Cars

Everyone saw this coming (lol) but Sonic adores the Cars franchise! Every single one! But prefers the first since they’re always the best ones, sings “Life is Highway” every time it comes on! Adds it to his running playlist or whenever he needs some good energy. The perfect mix of rock & country!

Wishes cars could talk after first watching this. Will sometimes go all the way to Arizona just to take a crack at running the canyons; Knuckles is the only one that knows…

Loves Cars 2! Thinks it’s hilarious but also pretty epic in its own way. Tow Mater makes him laugh every time.

Tails 💛

Big Hero 6

While the action & vibrant color schemes are amazing, he’s more interested in the advanced technology & world building. Loves Baymax & has even considered building his own version of a medical robot for Maddie’s work. But she claims they’re just fine. Tom has tried asking for a robotic housekeeper though!

Relates to Hiro Hamada a lot about wanting to prove himself as both a good friend & an inventor. Loves the passion Hiro puts into his work, but the big scene with Tadashi is a little too sad for Tails. 🥺

Cheers every time Baymax comes back! Will sometimes play the film as background noise when he’s working, or just the soundtrack.

Luca

The unique art style & colorful landscapes are what catch his eye first, until the whole sea monster bit rolls in. Loved the concept of them becoming human when dry, but sometimes doesn’t understand the science behind it. He might think a little too hard about it… 😅

Luca’s relationship with Alberto reminds Tails of him & Sonic when they met! You can guess who’s who (lol) but their hijinks with the race always make him giggle. It reminds Tails of Sonic’s antics.

Loves Luca’s want to learn & study things about the human world. Will look for a book about old Italian history or even sea creatures after he finished the movie. Every time!

Knuckles ❤️

Beauty & the Beast

Gets super into romance films after hanging out with Wade’s mom, & it’s always his first pick for family movie night! Enjoys the songs after Tom explains musicals, but Knuckles loves Belle’s endless curiosity & fearlessness. Absolutely despises Gaston though, sometimes he can’t sit through his song.

Enjoys the message of “beauty within” & loving someone for who they are, not for their appearance. If Shadow joins the family, they’re both watching this film! 😂

The ending always catches him off guard even though he knows what happens next. But the heartfelt moment between Belle & the Beast always tugs at his heart. Poor guy teared up a little when he first watched it.

Brave

Was immediately intrigued by the warrior princess! So much so he took up archery by carving his own bow & arrows. Until he used all the firewood to do so; he had to help Tom find more after that. But at least he’s a skilled archer now!

Finds the concept of a bear curse interesting, as to him bears are powerful but loving creatures. Honestly thinks it’s cool having a bear mom. He gets real invested once the action starts to kick in, & admires Merida’s valor greatly.

At one point he found a little bear cub out in the woods while training & believed it to be abandoned. Maddie flipped out when she saw it, & made Knuckles take it back home. He did & even became friends with the Mama bear.

Bonus! Shadow 🖤

Robin Hood

I imagine this was Maria’s favorite & she would always have this as an option for Shadow on movie night. A classic Disney film that also has a lot of whimsy & color, which Shadow appreciates since the main cast is so likable. Don’t tell anyone that though. 🤫

Loves romance as well & is not ashamed. Sees Marian & Robin as the perfect Disney couple since their will to be together is so strong. But sometimes wishes Maid Marian would do something other than wait for Robin, but he appreciated that pie toss! 🥧

Decided to take up archery along with Knuckles, but becomes frustrated he can’t get it right away. Eventually he gives up after attempting a trick shot on a smaller target, that being Sonic’s old baseball cap.

Finding Nemo

While Shadow loves his found family tropes, he really likes the film because of Nemo. Finds him & his little fin adorable, but enjoys Nemo’s determination to become better. Also don’t tell anyone. Especially Sonic! 😅

Finds the vibrant ocean images & setting very calming, but loves how educational it can be. With how animals work with their environment & whatnot. Especially the part with the whale, he gets so amazed but also very confused by it (lol).

Another secret is that he finds Dory funny; her little quips & funny moments usually get a small smile or even a chuckle out of him. Even her little noise effects during the jellyfish scene get him smiling! But her behavior reminds him of Maria a little bit, so he enjoys her screen time a little more.

Ctimene Headcanons Her Relationship With Her Family (+Polites and Ares)

(+What she mainly calls them)

Mom (Anticlea): 8/10 I can see Anticlea disapproving of Ctimene being a bit of a tomboy but loves her regardless like any good (I said good, not great) mother would but is still vocal about her wishing that Ctimene would act more like a girl than a warrior. Despite this they have a good relationship from their often gossiping together, spending time together, to the times of Ctimene having a bad day only to be held in her mother’s arms like she always did for her and Odysseus since they were infants.

Father (Laërtes): 4/10 Laërtes and Ctimene used to have a good relationship before he went crazy. He would give her gifts and treasures he knew she would like, he would tell her stories of heroes, and he often carried her around. But when he was crazy he would sometimes not recognize her and treated her like a stranger until Anticlea reminded him who Ctimene was. They would have their moments but Ctimene wishes they could go back to what they once were.

Big Brother (Odysseus): Odysseus would be to Ctimene like Fergus (Merida’s father) is to Merida. He wouldn’t care that Ctimene would ‘do things a princess shouldn’t do’ if anything I feel like he would take pride in being the first person to say teach her to shoot a bow and arrow (Merida and The Challenge reference). And despite having rival war gods as their Patrons they have a more healthy sibling relationship than Ares and Athena. Let me paint you a scenario: If Odysseus were to win against a duel between them he would help her get up before ruffling her hair and instructing her what she did wrong and how she could improve. But if Ctimene were to win the duel she would cheer in excitement before doing a victory dance and saying how she was the best (classic sibling behavior). Odysseus knew that he wanted her to be happy so when he noticed that his friend Eurylochus would look at her as though she was the only person he was seeing and she would smile awkwardly at him he knew. So when his best friend asked to marry her he knew his answer not caring to hear the rest of his friend’s claim and unknowingly accepted a dowry for Ctimene marriage that he later gifted her as a wedding present. He is the number 1 Eurymene shipper. Through it all they both know that they can at least trust each other even if it feels like everything and everyone is against them.

Polites: Best friends who annoy Odysseus for fun sake’s. The number 3 Eurymene shipper. Knows what cheers her up when she’s down. Was adopted as another brother by her. Was either the flower boy (Hercules Mulligan) or Man of Honor at her wedding.

Ares: The number 2 Eurymene shipper. Even though Ctimene knew the story of Ares as a warrior and how he represented the bad parts of war she couldn’t help but admire the god for how caring he seemed to be with Aphrodite, Artemis (helping her with the Amazon warriors), Hera, and his daughters even killing a son of Poseidon because he had assaulted his daughter if anything she was shocked that not that many people in their kingdom worship him but she did. She made a little alter dedicated to the God of war and would always make sure that it was up to standards for the god. When he chose her as his champion she was ecstatic. As he trained her she began to view him as a father figure and she knew he cared for her like a daughter even if he never admitted it.

Next in my series of Jedi Princesses: Raya! Raya is a capable warrior, so I envisioned her as a hardened Order 66 survivor, roaming the planet of Kumandra, searching for a fabled Force-being that will unite the land. In her efforts to protect herself from Inquisitors - which include her childhood friend from the Jedi temple, Namaari - I could see her scavenging old Clone Trooper armor and incorporating pieces into her outfit. I looked to prominent Order 66 survivors, Cal Kestis and Ahsoka Tano, for costume inspiration. Ahsoka’s live-action outfit is already very Asian-inspired, so it was easy to draw visual similarities between her costume and Raya’s. And Raya’s cloak translated well into a poncho, of which I hope Cal would approve! Also, her hat came from one that you can see Cast Members at Galaxy's Edge wear!

And I just realized that I’ve drawn the two Jedi Princesses whose actors were in Star Wars: Mulan for Ming-Na Wen, and now Raya for Kelly Marie Tran!

Fun fact: I thought about giving her blue lightsabers, which are typical of Jedi Warriors. But I settled on green because a) it fits her color palette and b) green is associated with Jedi Consulars, who are known to fight mainly to protect... and Raya's people are the guardians of the Dragon Gem.

Time: was taught hylian by trees???? Almost has no tone/infliction in voice (he's working on it)

Malon: Tennessee accent all the way, with that nice hook at the end too (non southerners imagine dolly parton)

Lullaby: very formal proper hylian, dignitary style

Warriors: British military like he's reading from a manual

Sheik: I don't know much about her but the sheikah definitely take inspiration from Japan

Twilight: Appalachian accent as thick as raw honey (non appalachians have yall ever heard of one looking it up)

Midna: try 'n' convince me she don't have a loud ass Louisiana accent (non southerners go watch princess and the frog) (this is totally not for my Midna is African American agenda)

Dusk: real formal like n all that

Sky: That's a Midwesterner (he genuinely tried to get Wild and Rulie to eat jello salad once)

Sun: completely Midwestern

Groose: spends a lot of time around the other two^ but his parents are Gerudo (Arabic/middle eastern)

Four: the minish have always reminded me of the Icelandic tales of little elves

Dot: same formal accent, maybe more like Four's

Age/Cal(calamity): very formal british accent almost royal but also uses some Korean (Zora) words

Mipha: Korean accent (thicker than Sidon's)

Fauna: royal and tight lipped british

Wild: used to be more British (kinghts!), but now is more southern cause twilight has corrupted him

Flora: much more informal than the other zeldas

Legend: Scottish accent, but he usually hides it really well, so you can't really tell at all unless he's mad or tired

Fable: Scottish asf (non Scottish people imagine Merida)

Ravio: fairly normal, but if provoked, he will speak like an Italian mobster wife until he gets his way

Hyrule: Rulie is Irish or Welsh all the way (especially with half fae/fey Hyrule)

Dawn: pretty similar to Hyrule

Aurora: transatlantic accent!!!!!

Spirit: he's always reminded me of Hugo Cabret, so cockney british accent it is (this grates on War's patience)

Phantom: can be formal if she has to but usually just sticks with cockney as well

Arthur: Merida is probably the most warrior-like? Except for Mulan who fits someone else better.

Percy: Snow White with her entire entourage of animal friends. You can actually accuse him of being a Disney Princess at one point.

Both of them also have familial abandonment issues and feel the need to isolate themselves from the people they love instead of confronting the problem smh

I will admit their romantic interests are a bit different, with Asra being bisexual and Elsa either being a lesbian or aro/ace at best

Both of them have also been described to have seductive singing voices 👀

Nadia - Princess Jasmine

We👏stan👏 headstrong 👏 independent 👏 middle eastern- inspired👏queens👏here👏

Ngl Jasmine is one of my favorite Disney princesses & she & Nadia would definitely hit it off

Both feel stuck in their respective lives while also wanting to rule, and try to take action for themselves whenever they can

Also both of them would look absolutely stunning in an outfit swap

Muriel - Hercules

Honey you mean HUNK-ules

I know Hercules isn't technically a Disney prince but he fits Muriel too well

Big and strong but shy and genuine at heart? Hell yeah

Their reactions to fame are a little bit different but they are the same when it comes to falling in love; both are so gentle and genuinely caring, and can't stop gushing about their partner

Also amazing idols for how men are supposed to treat women - a.k.a with respect

Both have a heathy amount of respect for their partners modesty (even when said partner is trying to seduce them on purpose), as well as their partners autonomy to make their own decisions

Not to mention they both have estranged families that they didn't know about, and a supportive animal companion

Portia - Rapunzel

I know some of you might be thinking "why not Merida? They look so alike with their frizzy mop of ginger hair!" Well, dear chat, let me explain

While they may look similar, Portia and Merida do not act similar. Merida is rebellious, headstrong, and airheaded, fighting her loved ones on everything and doing what she wants regardless of the consequences until said consequences come back to bite her in the butt. Portia on the other hand, while also headstrong, is spunky, kind, and takes others feelings and opinions into account instead of doing the first daring thing that comes into her head

Which brings me to Rapunzel. Admittedly, Rapunzel is a lot more sheltered and inexperienced about the world than Portia was but they are still kindred spirits. Curious, spunky, headstrong, kind, compassionate, and unafraid to fight for themselves.

They're ready to take on the world even if they don't know enough about it

Both also have evil and manipulative family members (ik Mother Gothel isn't Rapunzel's family; she was still the one who raised Rapunzel & Rapunzel considered her family long enough for it to count in this situation)

Both also meet love interests who guide them through the part of the world that's unknown to them, be it magic for Portia or the world as a whole for Rapunzel

Lucio - Merida

remember all those traits I listed for Merida? Yeah Lucio fits those

Merida and Lucio may be hella good warriors, but boy are they stupid sometimes

Both also have mommy issues™

Both are also wildly inexperienced with magic and should really be more cautious about it

Both just go "oopsies" and expect everything to be fine because of their status when it's never fine

tbf i think that lonnie's family is the most fleshed out after ben's, the core4's and audrey's. but anyway

lonnie mentions that she used to bake cookies with her mum. i think she also would've grown up making dumplings with her

i don't think that lonnie would have been raised as extravagantly as many of her peers - remembering that her parents are decorated war heroes, so while they would have lived a comfortable lifestyle, it wouldn't be ANYWHERE near the level of the princes and princesses surrounding her. i think that's why she's a lot more down to earth and... normal

i know for a fact that she probably grew up with a small crusty white yappy little dog. probably a shih tzu. and probably named something terrible like coco (can't lie i had the exact same dog)

when her and her brother were children and their parents took them to see the lion dance shang woulda let his son sit on his shoulders and then when he got too old for that, lonnie

also. i think lil shang and lonnie used to reenact all the epic climax battles between the heroes and villains. i think they also would've thought over whose turn it was to be the bad guy this time

i think. one time when lonnie was a child. she would've gotten super annoyed at her brother and thrown a tantrum and pushed him in a lake. i have no proof and i don't know what the cause is, but i am certain that it happened. they came back into the house and lil shang was dripping wet onto the carpet. neither of them spoke when mulan interrogated them

li shang is THE girl dad of all time. you know that luxurious luscious hair he got?? yeah he let her braid it and put it in pigtails all the time and paint his nails and do his makeup

mulan is also a certified mint chocolate ice cream lover. NO one else in the family likes it. she has her own special tub she keeps in the freezer. her kids rib her for her choice every time they see it

i also think the house is divided on moon cakes. li shang would be SUPER particular about it at the store like like "good morning, where can i find your moon cakes with double salted duck egg yolks and lotus seed paste filling with the flaky crust". mulan probably has the simpler (but delicious) style she grew up with, likely a regional style that she would have to handmake. lonnie is all for the super specific one her dad likes, her brother likes the traditional homemade one

li family snowball fights get INTENSE. it's not a snowball fight, it's snowball warfare. mulan won the ultimate snowball fight with an avalanche and she will remind everyone of this every single winter, "so don't you dare throw a snowball at the back of my head when i'm not looking"

lonnie and her brother used to do competitive tree climbing as children. whoever reaches the top wins

is merida in the descendants universe?? if so i bet merida would've been their family friend and very close to their family and she would've been auntie merida to the kids. warrior girlies for life

ouattober2023 Day 6: Fav Rarepair

Red Warrior (aka Mulan Rouge, fandom, it was right there, come on)

The gif speaks for itself already, Do I need to say more? No. Will I? Absolutely.

Back in S2 I was very happy. I had Sleeping Warrior to ship and also Red Beauty. Two good ships. But over the years there was the question "what if Mulan and Ruby ever met?". It seemed like a fun constellation. The honorable warrior, serious, focused, happily doing her duty. And the werewolf waitress who effortlessly talks to people, who can be mean if need be (and the full moon is out). Imagine Ruby showing Mulan around Storybrooke. She'd have her start her own gym so fast. (After being teased for so long, somebody should have taken Mulan to Storybrooke and let her watch a film already.)

I watched S5 spoiler free. No promos. It's fun. But there is always the guest cast list and seeing the names Jamie Chung and Meghan Ory when The Bear King started? EXCITEMENT! I was then mesmerized by the Mulan&Merida scenes, I almost forgot I was waiting to see Ruby again. And oh boy, THE WOLF! Once again foiled with magic, but that was okay. When Mulan arrives at the Witch's Hut next? A different kind of magic happening indeed...

Yep, I'd say Mulan almost getting attacked saying "you're not a wolf" with a big smile "you just need a little help remembering who you are", then splashing that potion to reveal Ruby, now sorta sitting above her? Perfect meet cute you can talk about for ages. It calls back a pivotal point from Mulan's past and we get to see a mostly decent CGI wolf (in broad daylight). Especially because we know that Red has killed people before and it's so unclear how much control she has, what exactly the Witch has done to her, ending it with her all smiling as well, is great. Of course I have to cry about "My name's Ruby. My friends call me Red." (Sorry, Mulan should have called her Red later on, to hammer that home.)

Mulan has hearteyes from the get-go, Ruby sits there panting. Frame this and put it in a museum. A clashing meeting that is definitely cute. I mean, there's a sword and fur involved.

It's funny how Mulan forgets to even introduce herself and Ruby has to ask her name later on (because suddenly it's night, how long did they sit like that?). And for somebody who likes to overanalyze it's hilarious how they do manage that Mulan mentions Aurora - with the sad music swelling in the background, to remind us all how their last meeting went - and then we cut to Ruby saying goodbye to Snow. In my mind a good reason this pairing works is, that they can get drunk together and lament how terribly in love they both once were with a princess. It's a fun thing to bond over.

Mulan is clearly the rare holder of the braincell, she also brings in a lot of training, so a good fighting form. Ruby is the muscle, but especially for the EF she has a special kind of wit thanks to the curse!persona. The Bear King allowed us to see a darker side of Mulan, hitting rock bottom, being selfish and looking for a fight.So Ruby is a great person to have her enjoy life and find a balance between duty and fun. This is kinda the promise at the end of the ep, finding a path for Mulan, while Ruby searches werewolves.

Obligatory Doylian rant: Red Warrior was the plan. Whatever you wanna say about the writers, they knew this episode was a romantic set-up. There was a cryptic tweet, some drama and so it's all speculative, but I have made my peace that this came down to studio interference. The live action Mulan film was in the works already, it was coming, Mulan is an official big Disney princess and even though everybody with a bit of media literacy understood that Mulan was very much in love with Aurora, there was this plausible deniability and she wasn't like... that gay. Oh no. And this is why Dorothy got squeezed in, Mulan left with nothing. Clearly not what was promised to Jamie Chung. I have no proof, but it is the best explanation how we went from The Bear King to Ruby Slippers (zero hate for that episode or the Red Kansas ship!!).

I want to know what kind of adventures they had together. How did they go about this search? Any rumors about wolves? The maddening thing is how they managed to end up in Oz at all. I know there's a mysterious BTS pic for the ep. But nevermind, what we do get in the beginning is a duo with a routine, complete with a badass back-to-back protective stance. I always pictured them together in Storybrooke, Ruby showing Mulan around. But I guess what I needed was them out in the woods alone, traveling realms and kicking ass (I'm a simple girl, with simple needs).

Two wonderful interactions at the end of TBK are when the Witch arrives at the coronation. Ruby is ready to go on the offense, but Mulan holds her back. Just a few frames, but it's perfect. And then there's their little banter Ruby: "I might not be the best person to ask for dating advice. I kind of ate the only boyfriend I've ever had." Mulan: "Yes, that disqualifies you." [...] Ruby: "It's better than wallowing in self-pity." Mulan: "I don't wallow!"

THEY ARE ALREADY PERFECT FOR EACH OTHER! Endless teasing and running head first into enemies (don't worry, Mulan has a plan; Ruby dramatically takes off her cloak... sometimes even when there is no wolf moon, just to distract enemies).

BIOGRAPHY

Ivor, the firstborn descendant of King Fergus, was named Merida at birth. As the princess of DunBroch, his destiny was decided for him even before he was born. He was betrothed to some boy he had never met before to strengthen the alliance between the clans. But he never wanted to be a princess, to be like his mother married to some king. He wanted to be… well, himself. He always felt wrong inside his own body except when he was out in the woods. Exploring, hunting, practicing archery instead of lessons after lessons about how to be a lady. He didn’t want to be a lady. If he had a choice, he wanted to be like his father, a mighty warrior who fought the demon bear Mor’du, the Bear King who protected his people.

Though his parents wanted him to get married as soon as he reached adulthood, Merida fought tooth and claw, competing for his own hand in marriage during Highland games, running away from home or going into hiding. At least when the triplets were born, the wee devils bought him some time by stirring up so much trouble at the castle and took some heat off of him. His parents never gave up, however, especially his mother. After one particularly terrible argument, he ran away into the woods again. Except this time, his fate manifested in the form of wisps and guided him to an old witch. The princess struck a deal with the witch, asking for a spell to change his fate. The witch gave him a cup of magical tea and a blueberry cake; the tea to turn him into a prince, and the cake to help him convince his mother if being a prince doesn’t work. Both spells worked like a charm. Merida was transformed into a prince, and the magic brought him and his mother closer. Eventually, at least, after shenanigans involving his mother turning into a bear and trying to undo that spell, his baby brothers accidentally eating the cake and becoming werebears from its side effect, trying to stop King Fergus from killing the queen… and all that.

That was only the beginning of the story, a prologue if you will. Merida, now going by as Ivor, felt responsible for what happened to his brothers. So the prince left the kingdom with the triplets to help them learn how to control their inner beasts. Once his brothers were old enough, he ventured out into the world traveling far and wide hoping to find a way to perhaps revert the spell on his brothers. A hero at heart, he was often stopped by those in need of helping hands, saving people, fighting off invaders and slaying monsters. But Ivor never stayed in one place for too long, always eager to move on and find a new place to explore.

But destiny called him back home again. Mor’du was wreaking havoc in DunBroch and the princes were summoned to help the kingdom deal with the Demon Bear once and for all. Ivor and his werebear brothers fought fiercely against Mor’du at a fated stone circle, and at the end of the battle, one of the stones fell on the Demon Bear. To everyone’s surprise, from underneath a man emerged. Crínán Na Tuaighe, the cursed prince of the lost kingdom. But at any rate, the terrifying reign of Mor’du was over and Ivor was happy to leave with his brothers again…

Except now that he is in his forties, his parents expect him to settle down and succeed the throne. To find a spouse, start a family and rule DunBroch. Though Ivor doesn’t want to, he is mature enough to understand his parents and reluctantly agree to consider settling down. Especially now that the portals opened between different realms, the new adventures are calling to him but he can’t go gallivanting like he used to.

POWER

Ivor is a master sharpshooter, a skilled warrior and seasoned adventurer. Though he does not possess any supernatural strength or (meaningful) magical abilities, his years of experience and training honed his combat skills to a superhuman level.

While he can wield most weapons with ease, bows and arrows are always his first choice of weapon. As an exceptional archer, he can take a shot while running and jumping, on horseback or even hanging upside down.

His aim with bows is impeccable which stems from his ability to predict the movement of the targets and the environment around him in a split second. He can measure the distance between one point to another accurately just by glancing, and calculate the speed of the moving target and how long it will take to reach a certain point.

His sense of sight and ability to process visual input are heightened and he can see anything from a great distance away with amazing clarity and details. Even when his sight is limited, he can sense threats or targets without needing to see them.

When in melee, Ivor prefers shortswords, short spears or daggers, and he is also skilled in hand-to-hand combat.

He is a veteran horseback rider, and is experienced with fighting on horseback.

While Ivor has no obvious magical gift, he is sensitive to the presence of spirits and possesses an uncanny insight as if he sees into people’s souls.

His brothers were born when he was in his early 20s, and since he raised them after their departure from the kingdom, he sometimes acts more like a father to them than an older brother.

Ivor was taught how to play musical instruments and how to weave as a child, and studied literature and singing. Not that he is any good at those. But he enjoys weaving and knitting, since it is more tactile and useful.

Although he was taught the proper manners and etiquettes befit a prince, Ivor acts casual and informal enough that not many would assume he is a prince.

Ivor has no romantic bone in his body and he is often called dense and can’t pick up flirting. He is more interested in archery and horseback riding than sexual encounters.

A terrible cook. Thankfully Ivor is not a picky eater and he will eat anything.
