Aunt of Heroes Story Cover
*This took me over two hours to make but I like it*

Notes:
• The fire is supposed be symbolic of like how willing May is to go for her niece and nephew like a mother willing to walk though fire for her children.
• I’m deciding to give Teresa Owl wings instead of bug wings as a sort of way of showing that she’s a descendant of Athena
• Also May is going an unclaimed child who is worshipper of Hestia (simply because I love the two aunts) so I might give her fire powers instead of spider powers to give her her own unique hero persona instead of just copying off of Spider-Man/Ma’am however I will probably still use the hero name Fire Mayhem (that’s still a work in progress figuring out the hero name but I know I want Mayhem) maybe it’s still in discussion with my mind.
I hope you still enjoy it and hopefully I’ll be able to finish and post the first chapter next week.

Aunt Of Heroes WIP Prologue A Mother's Lullaby of Sacrifice
(This is my first time posting a WIP of my story so please be nice. I’ll be taking any advice you have)
In a small, modest apartment in Queens, New York, a woman sat on the closed toilet lid, making the most of her minimalistic space. The apartment was filled with secondhand furniture and boxes, yet it contained all the essentials she needed at the moment as she waited…
Mary Fitzpatrick had experienced a great deal in her 23 years. Running away from home at just 10, she confronted formidable challenges that shaped her early life. Despite feeling neglected by both her mortal guardian and divine parent for many years, until her mother eventually claimed her, deciding ‘Oh yeah you are my kid I just didn’t care about you until now!’ Despite Mary trying her hardest to be the perfect child her mother expected her to be she had to learn to navigate these complex emotions that she didn’t understand at times, after all she wasn’t made to be human rather to be her mother’s greatest creation. The first child of Athena created without a father needed, a pure copy and paste of you will, so while her other half siblings got to have a father to raise them she was stuck in the foster system going from home to home until she came to camp at 10. And even when she got claimed it didn’t matter because she was the ‘favored’ creation of Athena, which wasn’t saying much other than having the most expectations to be close enough like her, but that didn’t stop some of her own siblings hated her.
At least she had little Annie who she loved like her own and May an unclaimed child who never let it bother her and was a beam of sunshine through and through, until she had to leave. Then she met him who made her feel something rather than nothing like she wasn’t just a clone of the woman who was supposed to love and care for her, she loved him. At least she did before the furries came back and she came to a profound realization: in order to protect the people she loved, she needed to make the difficult choice to distance herself for their safety. So she left him thinking she would leave him all behind him now she’s not so sure…
The sound of the owl baking timer snapped her out of her thoughts (it was the only thing she could find at the moment since she hadn’t unpacked her stuff yet). She took a deep breath as she prepared herself for the result. Nothing she has faced could compare to the fear she felt at the moment when looking at the pregnancy test results.
Her hands trembled uncontrollably, fingers quaking as she stared at the test before her. The two lines glared back, stark and undeniable, like cruel jesters mocking her deepest fears. Each line painted a vivid picture of uncertainty, igniting a whirlwind of emotions within her, as a wave of disbelief crashed over her.
“Fuck……this can’t be real…” Mary sank against the door of the bathroom. She didn’t cry yet not when her mind started to race—flashing of monsters, gods, lies, death,…him. She couldn’t believe it until she took two more tests that showed the same results as the first, positive.

Okay while finally having free time in writing the fanfic I just realized something cute that further proves that the Parker kids (I’m adding Teresa) should be children/descendants of Athena
Peter = Penelope
Teresa = Telemachus
……THEY WERE NAMED AFTER THEM AND YOU CANNOT CONVINCE ME OTHERWISE 😭😭😭
What if Instead of Peter Parker Being a Child of Athena His Mother Was?
Okay this has been in my head for a minute and I can’t focus on anything but this so hear me!
We know not a lot about Peter’s parents (other than the agent thing) but this came to me when listening to My Goodbye and I started imagining Peter as Odysseus and talking to Athena like this because I got a TikTok about Peter Parker being a child of Athena (again).
I was also reading fanfic about how Dick Grayson and Richard Parker were the same person and that got my mind rolling about.
“Can you imagine what that relationship would look like in the same universe like Athena being Peter’s mom and Nightwing being his dad”
And I laughed at myself for such a ridiculous idea until I remembered Mary Parker. Who we know almost nothing about (which is a shame) other than her and Richard being S.H.E.I.L.D agents then I thought.
“What if Mary Parker was a child of Athena instead of Peter, and he inherited all of his mother’s smarts?”
Then that led me down a rabbit hole of ideas: Mary and Dick’s relationship, Dick having to leave Mary a bit because Bruce and Tim need him for stuff…(Red Hood), Mary thinking her life is now great until attack by monsters, Mary overthinking causing her to decide to leave Dick and disappear from his life, Mary finding out that she’s pregnant, her thinking it over and deciding to raise the baby as a single parent, asks her best friend and her husband’s help (May and Ben) with the pregnancy, she gives birth to Peter John Parker (she decided to give her son her friend’s surname since she doesn’t really have an identity), Mary loving her baby Peter, either Mary does die from the plane crash or Athena sent her to find the Parthenos statue (I don’t care that the gods don’t bother the demigods as much as when they’re adults let me believe that not all the remains that Annabeth walked over were children), either way Mary gives May a box to give to Peter when she thinks he’s ready if she doesn’t get a chance to, and she hugs her six year old goodbye. Cue 12 years later Peter opens the box that contains a compass locket with an owl engraved on the back inside the locket is a picture of Mary holding a baby Peter.
The picture:

*Sorry for not being able to post the fic I ran out of my ADHD medicine so my brain has been focused on this instead of Spider-Mayhem but I got some artwork that will hopefully make up for it 😅*

The Library Incident

*Been needing to do this for some time now, thank you for your patience @apple4me 😅 (sorry been busy with school finals/tests whatever you call it)*
Tim sets up surveillance on May because he’s being paranoid, only to accidentally become the unwilling audience to Jason Todd trying to flirt with a girl he actually likes.
Tim is sat hunched over his screen, caffeine in hand, analyzing footage from the miniature surveillance cameras he’d covertly placed around Gotham’s library when May Parker started working there.
Tim (focused, typing rapidly): “Surveillance on Parker is active. No anomalies so far, but I’m keeping a close eye on her route between the kid section and the front desk.”
Tim (mutters to himself): “Let’s see what you’re hiding, Miss Parker…”
But instead of criminal activity, he got—Jason Todd. Hovering awkwardly near the reference desk.
Jason (hands in jacket pockets): “So… uh… got any new crime novels in?”
May (without looking up): “Same shelf as last time, Mr. Todd”
Jason (nods too quickly): “Right, yeah, just… making sure you hadn’t moved them.”
May (smirking slightly): “Not since yesterday. Or the day before. Or the twelve times you’ve asked this week.”
Jason (grinning like an idiot): “You keepin’ track?”
May (teasing): “I’m a librarian. It’s kind of my whole thing.”
Tim blinked. Fast-forwarded. Found more footage.
The more footage:
Jason (arms full of books he absolutely won’t read): “I thought maybe I could help you reshelve. Team effort?”
May (dryly): “You put ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ in nonfiction.”
Jason: “…Listen, caterpillars are real, okay?”
Tim groaned, dragging his hands down his face.
Dick (walking by, glancing at the monitor): “Wait… is that Jason?”
Tim (grimacing): “Yeah. He keeps dropping by the library pretending to ‘return’ books he never actually checked out. And look at him, he just knocked over an entire display rack of Shakespeare.”
Jason (on screen): “So like… uh. Do you like… Hamlet? Or are you more of a Macbeth girl? I mean—woman. I mean—May.”
May (smiling, clearly amused): “I’m more into Othello. Tragedies feel more relatable when you’ve lived in Queens.”
Jason: “Right. Totally. Queens. You ever throw hands with someone in a bodega over the last sandwich? ’Cause that’s basically my Romeo and Juliet.”
Dick: “…Oh my god. I knew it!!!! He’s into her!”
Tim (deadpan): “Unfortunately, I know. I’ve had to sit through six hours of him trying and failing to ask her to coffee.”
Log Entry Notes: Day 5
• Jason enters with The Great Gatsby. Returns it with a fake bookmark in the middle.
• Compliments May’s new glasses. Trips over a chair and pretends it was intentional.
• May calls him “charming in a brick wall kind of way.” Jason short-circuits.
• Dick and Tim scream into a pillow.
— Later That Week —
Dick (eating popcorn in front of the monitors): “This is better than The Bachelor. Do you think she knows?”
Tim (groaning): “She definitely knows. She’s just playing it cool. Probably waiting for him to grow a spine.”
Dick: “Do you think we should… help?”
Tim: “If by ‘help’ you mean lock them in the rare books archive and cut the power until they confess, then yes.”
Jason (on screen, nervously holding a coffee): “I thought, maybe, you might want… this? I mean, you said last week you liked cinnamon, and the guy said this one had notes of cinnamon, but now I’m not sure if it’s too much—”
May (taking it gently): “Jason, relax. It’s perfect. So are you… in a chaotic, explosion-prone kind of way.”
Jason (freezes): “Coolcoolcool. Yeah. That’s me. Chaos incarnate. That’s… that’s hot, right?”
Dick (leaning in): “Oh my god, just kiss already.”
Tim: “Do we start a betting pool or an intervention?”
Bonus: Oracle Joins the Drama
Barbara (over comms): “Why are there thirty gigabytes of library footage on the Batcomputer marked ‘For Emotional Damage’?”
Tim: “Jason has a crush on May.”
Barbara: “…I’ll grab popcorn.”

Batman Confronts May Parker
Masterlist
May had been expecting this.
After all, she’d made a bit of an impression in Gotham.
You didn’t just beat the Joker within an inch of his life and start moonlighting as a vigilante without catching someone’s attention.
And now?
Now, she was standing face-to-face with the Batman in her apartment.
“You’re reckless,” Batman said, arms crossed, voice like gravel.
May raised an eyebrow, shifting her weight. “Oh? And what exactly makes me reckless, big guy?” She made her way to the small kitchen to make herself some tea,
Batman followed her “You’re untrained. You’re unpredictable. You’re endangering yourself and others.”
May snorted as she set the tea kettle that she just so happened to have (she knew that it was Cass who gifted it to her) on the stove. “Says the man who lets children fight crime in spandex.”
Batman’s eyes narrowed. “They’re trained.”
“Yeah? Well, so am I.” May responded back as she grabbed the box of tea packets (while also making a note to buy some more).
Batman’s posture barely shifted, but May could tell she’d hit a nerve.
“You’re interfering in my city,” he said, voice colder.
“Your city?” May crossed her arms as she leaned against the kitchen counter. “Last I checked, Gotham wasn’t a dictatorship.”
Batman exhaled sharply through his nose. “You think you’re helping, but you don’t understand how things work here.”
“Oh, I understand just fine.” May took a step forward, eyes hard. “I understand that you had the Joker in your hands multiple times and let him walk away.”
Batman’s jaw tightened.
“I understand that you let that monster hurt people—hurt your own kids—and still refused to put him down.”
Batman’s silence was deafening.
“You call me reckless?” May’s voice dropped to something almost dangerous. “I saved my nephew before the Joker could lay a hand on him. Can you say the same for Jason Todd?”
Batman’s eyes flashed.
May expected him to react.
Maybe even lash out.
Instead, his voice came out quiet. Controlled.
“You don’t know what you’re talking about.”
May shook her head. “No. You don’t know what I’m talking about.”
Her hands curled into fists. “Because if you did, you wouldn’t just sit back and let this happen over and over again.”
Batman’s cape shifted with the wind, but he didn’t move.
Neither did May.
It was a standoff.
One that probably would’ve continued—
If not for the tiny fury standing beside her.
Peter had been glaring at Batman the whole time.
And now, he finally snapped.
“You’re mean.”
This caused Batman to actually blinked. “…What?”
“You’re mean,” Peter repeated, folding his arms. “You’re being rude to my Aunt May.”
May sighed. “Peter—”
“No, Aunt May, this guy’s a jerk.”
May had to bite her cheek to keep from laughing.
Because Batman—the Batman—looked like he had no idea how to handle an angry seven-year-old.
“She literally saved me,” Peter huffed. “And what did you do? Show up after everything was over to be all grumpy about it?”
May placed a hand on Peter’s shoulder. “Okay, kiddo, let’s not antagonize the giant bat-man.”
Peter wasn’t having it.
“You’re just mad that Aunt May did your job for you.”
Batman let out a slow, measured exhale. “This isn’t about—”
“Yes, it is,” Peter said. “You think she shouldn’t fight, but you fight. You think she shouldn’t help people, but you help people. You don’t get to be a hypocrite, dude.”
May really had to stop herself from laughing.
Batman looked so out of his depth.
Like he could fight a thousand criminals, but one angry little boy was too much.
Finally, after a long, weighted silence, and the kettle going off, Batman spoke.
“…Stay out of trouble.”
Then, with a swish of his cape, he was gone.
May let out a breath. “Well.”
Peter huffed. “What a drama queen.”
May barked out a laugh. “Peter!”
“What? It’s true.” Peter scrunched his nose. “I don’t like him.”
May ruffled his hair. “Yeah, I kinda figured.” She poured the hot water into a cup before dunking the tea packet in.
Peter looked up at her, still frowning. “You’re not gonna listen to him, right?”
May gave him a smirk. “Have I ever listened to a man in a cape before?”
Peter beamed. “Nope!”
“Exactly.”
With that, May took a big sip of her tea before Peter pulled her to the table so he could tell her about the latest book he read.

Barbara Gordon Analyzes Her Employee, May Parker
Masterlist
Barbara had a habit of keeping tabs on everyone in her life.
It wasn’t paranoia.
It was precaution.
And May Parker?
May Parker set off every single alarm in her brain.
The Resume That Made No Sense
May had applied for a job at the Gotham Public Library.
Her resume was… normal. Too normal.
College degree. Experience in community outreach. References that checked out.
But something about it felt off.
It was too clean.
Too perfect.
People who moved to Gotham weren’t usually the squeaky-clean type.
They either came looking for a fresh start…
Or they were running from something.
Barbara intended to find out which category May Parker fell into.
Barbara wasn’t the kind of boss who hovered.
But she did have security feeds in the library.
And she did keep an eye on her new employee.
May was good at her job. Very good.
She wasn’t just polite—she was genuinely kind.
She paid attention to people. Noticed when someone was having a bad day.
She helped the elderly patrons carry books. Brought extra snacks for the kids who hung around too long without eating.
And the weirdest part?
The regulars loved her.
Even the ones who hated everyone else (because people who hate Aunt May clearly hate being loved I’m looking at you ‘TonY WoUld bE/iS a beTteR gaUrdIan tHaN May’ people this is a We Stan Aunt May account).
She had a way of handling Gotham’s more…eccentric citizens.
Once, a guy had started shouting in the middle of the library.
Security had been ready to escort him out—until May just… talked to him.
Calmed him down.
Got him to sit.
Brought him a glass of water.
Barbara had never seen anything like it.
It was like May Parker was made to survive Gotham.
And that was what made her dangerous.
Because normal people?
Normal people didn’t survive Gotham.
Barbara might’ve let it go.
Might’ve just accepted that May Parker was an oddly competent, oddly good person.
Until the night one of Gotham’s small-time criminals tried to mug a teenager outside the library.
Barbara had only caught it after rewinding the security footage.
May had stepped outside just in time to see it.
She could’ve called for help.
Could’ve let the guy run.
But no.
May Parker took one look at the situation—
And decked the guy in the face.
No hesitation. No fear.
Just one solid punch, straight to the jaw.
And then, while the guy was groaning on the ground, she had lectured him.
Barbara could only watch in stunned silence as May had scolded the mugger like a misbehaving child.
May (hands on hips): “Do you really think this is the best life choice? Come on, man, what if you get arrested? What if someone else fights back?”
The guy had just groaned.
May had sighed, pulled twenty bucks from her wallet, and muttered,
May: “Go get something to eat and think about your life.”
The mugger had taken the money and left.
And the kid May had saved?
Had just stared at her like she was some kind of urban legend with how starry eyed he gets.
Barbara had to admit—she kind of was.
Barbara leaned back in her chair, staring at the paused footage.
There was something about May Parker.
Something that didn’t add up.
She wasn’t just a good person.
She was a dangerous one.
And Barbara was going to figure out why.

Cassandra Cain Meets May Parker (AKA: The Moment Cass Decides May is Hers Now)
Masterlist
Cassandra had been watching May Parker for weeks.
Not in a creepy way—at least, not intentionally.
She just knew there was something different about her.
The way she carried herself. The way she moved.
She wasn’t like other civilians.
She felt like someone who could fight.
Like someone who had fought.
But she didn’t move like a trained assassin or a vigilante.
No rigid discipline. No ingrained muscle memory of violence.
May Parker fought like someone who had learned through experience.
Which, in Cass’s world, was even more dangerous.
And Cass decided it was time.
Time to figure out who May Parker really was.
So she walked straight into the library—silent, unnoticed—until she was standing directly in front of the woman herself.
May didn’t startle.
Didn’t jolt or flinch like most people would.
Instead, she just looked up, raised an eyebrow, and smiled.
May: “Well, hello there.”
Cass tilted her head, analyzing every movement.
No fear. No tension.
Just…warmth.
Cass pointed at her own throat.
May immediately understood.
Her hands moved, fluid and practiced.
May (signing): “Hello. How can I help you?”
Cass blinked.
Then, without even realizing it, she smiled.
Cassandra wasn’t much of a talker.
But she loved when people understood her without making a big deal out of it.
And May?
May was talking to her like it was the most normal thing in the world.
Cass (signing): “You know sign?”
May (signing, grinning): “Of course. Thought it’d be nice to understand more people.”
Cass studied her.
May was telling the truth.
No ulterior motives. No fake sympathy.
Just pure, genuine kindness.
Cass liked that.
Cass (signing): “You fight.”
May blinked.
Then huffed out a soft laugh.
May (signing): “Not really. I just… don’t like bullies.”
Cass narrowed her eyes.
That was an understatement.
But she let it slide.
For now.
Their conversation was cut short when a kid—Peter Parker—came running up to the desk.
Peter: “May! I found another cool book!”
May immediately turned to him, all soft smiles and warmth.
She checked out his book, ruffled his hair, and listened as he excitedly told her about everything he had read so far.
And Cass just… watched.
Watched the way Peter leaned into May’s touch, completely comfortable.
Watched the way May paid attention to him like he was the most important person in the world.
Cass knew what it was like to grow up without that kind of love.
She had only found it after meeting the Bats.
And this kid?
This kid had it.
Because of May.
And just like that, Cass decided.
May Parker was hers now.
Cass didn’t say anything to the Batfamily.
Didn’t tell them about her conversation with May.
But the very next time she saw Jason Todd, she signed two words.
Cass (signing): “She stays.”
Jason smirked.
And Cass knew, in that moment, that they had both decided the same thing.

Damian Wayne Meets May Parker (AKA: “Who Is This Woman and Why Is Everyone Obsessed With Her?”)
(Sorry for not posting for a while I’m currently suffering from allergies)
Damian Wayne did not understand the fascination his family had with this random woman.
Tim was practically running a full investigation on her.
Stephanie kept calling her “The Cool Aunt Gotham Needed.”
Grayson had come back from meeting her looking way too pleased with himself.
And Todd?
Todd was being weird.
Like, really weird.
Not in his usual murder-y, brooding way, but in a way that suggested he genuinely liked this woman.
Which, for Jason Todd, was deeply concerning.
So, naturally, Damian had to investigate.
The Gotham Public Library was disappointing (don’t tell Babs he thought that).
Too many civilians. Too many distractions. And worst of all—
It smelled like old paper and cheap coffee.
Damian wrinkled his nose as he stepped inside, his sharp eyes scanning the room for his target.
There she was.
May Parker.
Sitting behind the counter, sipping from a steaming cup of tea, and flipping through a book like she wasn’t being stalked by the son of Batman.
Damian approached silently, standing in front of the desk, waiting for her to notice him.
She didn’t look up.
Damian frowned.
How dare she ignore him?
He cleared his throat. Loudly.
Still, nothing.
Finally, she spoke, not even looking up from her book.
May: “If you’re going to glare at me like that, at least introduce yourself.”
Damian narrowed his eyes.
Damian: “I did not introduce myself because I assumed you would already know who I am.”
May: (Still not looking up.) “Oh, wow. That’s an incredibly arrogant thing to say.”
Damian’s eye twitched.
Damian: “Tt. I am Damian Wayne.”
May finally looked up.
And to Damian’s absolute outrage, she did not seem impressed.
May: “Nice to meet you, Damian Wayne.” (She took a sip of tea.) “Do you always introduce yourself like a prince addressing his subjects?”
Damian: “I am the son of—”
May: “Lemme guess—‘the son of a very important man’?”
Damian scowled.
This woman was insufferable.
Damian studied her.
She didn’t look special.
She wasn’t particularly tall, nor did she carry herself like a fighter.
And yet—
She had beaten the Joker into the ground.
Without training. Without hesitation. Without fear.
That was not normal.
So Damian tested her.
Damian: “You are not from Gotham.”
May: “Nope.”
Damian: “Then why are you here?”
May: (Shrugging.) “Life’s funny like that.”
Damian: “That is not an answer.”
May: (Smiling.) “It wasn’t meant to be.”
Damian clenched his jaw.
He hated vague people.
Just when Damian was about to officially write her off as another useless civilian—
A small child came running up to the desk.
Peter Parker.
And May immediately turned all of her attention to him.
Peter: (Holding up a book.) “May! Can we check this one out?”
May: (Smiling warmly.) “Of course, sweetheart.”
Damian watched as she scanned the book, ruffled the boy’s hair, and gently reminded him to be careful running in the library.
It was…
Odd.
Damian had seen protectiveness before.
His father was protective.
His siblings were protective.
But this woman?
She wasn’t just protecting Peter physically.
She was making sure he felt safe.
Like nothing bad in the world could touch him as long as she was there.
And that—
That was not something people faked.
Damian stared at her, considering this.
Then, without another word, he turned on his heel and walked away.
He did not tell anyone about his thoughts on her.
But later that night, he sent Jason a single text.
Damian: She is acceptable.
Jason didn’t respond.
But Damian knew, without a doubt, that Todd was probably smirking like an idiot somewhere.

Dick Grayson Meets May Parker (AKA the Most Confusing, Yet Intriguing Woman in Gotham Right Now)
Dick Grayson was not expecting much when he walked into the Gotham Public Library.
Sure, he’d heard the stories.
A mysterious new woman, a librarian of all things, who had somehow beaten the Joker without breaking a sweat.
Tim had been going insane trying to figure her out.
Jason was suspiciously quiet about the whole thing. (Which was already a red flag.)
And Stephanie? Stephanie had flat-out told him: “She’s like a cool aunt who could probably kill a man with a spoon.”
Which, honestly? Intriguing.
So, naturally, he had to see for himself.
The library was warm, a stark contrast to the dreary Gotham weather outside.
And there she was.
May Parker.
Sitting behind the counter, sorting through a stack of books with the kind of effortless focus that only librarians and crimefighters seemed to master.
But there was something else about her.
Something that immediately set off his instincts.
She carried herself like she was always aware of her surroundings.
Like she was waiting for the other shoe to drop.
And when a sudden thud echoed from the back of the library, she subtly shifted, her fingers tensing—
Before realizing it was just a kid dropping a book.
She relaxed instantly, but Dick saw it.
That was not the reaction of a civilian.
And yet, when she looked up and smiled at him, she looked so… normal.
Dick had been in the game long enough to know that was bullshit.
He approached the counter with his best, most charming smile.
Dick: “Hey there. You must be the famous May Parker.”
May blinked up at him, clearly unimpressed.
May: “Famous? I think you have the wrong person.”
Dick leaned on the counter.
Dick: “Oh, I dunno. It’s not every day someone beats the Joker with a baseball bat.”
May gave him a look.
May: “I don’t know where people keep getting these rumors.”
Dick grinned.
Dick: “Uh-huh. Right.”
She raised an eyebrow, clearly not buying into his easy charm.
And honestly? He kind of respected that.
Then, Peter Parker came running up to her, clutching a book to his chest.
Peter: “May! Look, look! They have ‘The Hobbit’!”
May’s entire demeanor softened instantly.
She ruffled Peter’s hair, his curls jumping around everywhere, and smiled.
May: “Well, that’s a classic. You gonna read it all by yourself?”
Peter puffed up stars clear in his eyes.
Peter: “Uh-huh! And then I’ll read it to you!”
Dick watched the exchange, filing away the way May instinctively kept Peter close.
The way she subtly scanned the room before focusing on him again.
That was protection in its purest form.
And suddenly, Dick understood exactly why Jason had been so weird about her.
Because this woman?
She wasn’t just anyone.
She was someone who had fought for that kid.
Who had won against one of the worst monsters Gotham had to offer.
And she had done it without a mask. That kind of thing?
It wasn’t luck.
It was something else entirely.
Dick wasn’t stupid.
He knew better than to push too hard.
So he backed off, chatted about books, and let her think he was just some friendly guy making conversation.
But as he left, he sent Jason a message:
Dickwing: So. You like her.
Littlewing: Don’t start, Dickwing.
Dickwing: Oh, I’m starting. You’re down bad, Littlewing
Littlewing: Block me.
Dick laughed.
Because yeah.
May Parker?
She was someone worth keeping an eye on.
