♫ Come And Get It ♫ (Redux)
♫ Come And Get It ♫ (Redux)
Okay friends … it’s official! I, Jill Dennison, aka Filosofa, have lost my bloody mind!!! A few nights ago after I played a song by the group Badfinger, our friend Clive mentioned two other songs by them, “Day After Day”, and this one, “Come And Get It”. I told him I didn’t know if I had ever heard “Day After Day”, but that I did somewhat remember “Come And Get It”. So, I went in search of…

Well well well.... What do we have here?? 😃👏🏾👏🏾
What a win for Warner Brothers!
I find it funny that everyone thought the Barbie movie would get DEMOLISHED by Oppenheimer since they both came out the same week, but Barbie has been dominating the box office lol 😆
Hahaha it's always funny to me when films that ppl thought would "flop" actually end up doing way better than expected rofl 🤣 😂

Warner Brothers Australian 7″ label sleeve (1960-1966)
Australia’s first half the Sixties and more seen this type of 7″ for Warner Brothers music releases. We covered a few of the -Brothers sleeves here over time and we’ve still waiting for Porky Pig to pop out of that hole with a resounding "Th-Th-The, Th-Th-The, Th-Th...That's all, folks!" As for us at Ω+, we’re far from it.

young singer star for teen-age hop
the wichita eagle wichita, kansas sunday, march 8, 1959
wichita's first big "teen-age hop" with a "name" band has been set for the city's new downtown ballroom—the playhouse—for next sunday night, march 15, with the appearance of one of the nation's current singing sensations, eddie cochran, and his orchestra. the harry peebles agency announced the hop will be from 7 to 11 p.m. cochran is coming to wichita direct from dick clark's american bandstand tv show where he was guest star last night.
the liberty recording star has had five straight million-record sellers including "summertime blues," "sittin' in the balcony," "drive-in show," "don't ever let me go" and "c'mon everybody." in his late teens, eddie has been spotlighted in the 20th century-fox picture, "the girl can't help it," and "untamed youth," for warner brothers.

Aha - Take On Me 1985
"Take On Me" is a song by the Norwegian synth-pop band A-ha. The original version from 1984 was produced by Tony Mansfield and remixed by John Ratcliff. The 1985 international hit version was produced by Alan Tarney for the group's debut studio album, Hunting High and Low.
In 1984, Andrew Wickham was the international vice-president for Warner Bros Records America, and their A&R man in London. He immediately signed A-ha to Warner Brothers America, after learning several previous attempts had failed to make "Take On Me" a commercial success. The next release was not successful either and featured a very ordinary performance video. He authorised considerable investment in the band: on Slater's recommendation, renowned producer Alan Tarney was commissioned to refine the song. The new recording achieved a cleaner and more soaring sound. It was re-released in the UK, but the record label's office in London gave them little support, and the single flopped for the second time.
Wickham placed the band on high priority and applied a lateral strategy with further investment. Steve Barron directed a revolutionary rotoscoping animation music video which took six months to create, using professional artists. Approximately 3,000 frames were rotoscoped, which took 16 weeks to complete. The single was released in the US one month after the music video, and immediately appeared in the Billboard Hot 100 and was a worldwide smash, reaching No. 1 in numerous countries.
At the 1986 MTV Video Music Awards, the video won six awards: Best New Artist in a Video, Best Concept Video, Most Experimental Video, Best Direction in a Video, Best Special Effects in a Video, and Viewer's Choice, and was nominated for two others, Best Group Video and Video of the Year. It was also nominated for Favorite Pop/Rock Video at the 13th American Music Awards in 1986.
"Take On Me" received a total of 95% yes votes, and is currently the most liked song on this poll blog! 🥳

OK . . . about this . . .
For the Beetlejuice fans who still Follow me.
I've said before that I'm biting my nails that Burton's trailers are showing us content that he's cut from the final film (this happened A LOT with Dumbo. The trailers were better than the movie.) I've worried that the sequel will be less Shippy than it seems right now.
However . . .
I've heard from some that the sequel -- and don't quote me on this -- is Burton's reply to the musical.
Tim Burton had absolutely nothing to do with the musical (unlike the animated series, which he helped with and even supervised a lot of). He doesn't own the rights to Beetlejuice; Warner Brothers does. So WB hired playwrights who had their own agendas.
Friends of mine, actors and other creatives who regularly work on Broadway, say that, despite the producers' and actors' begging (particularly Brightman), both Burton and Michael Keaton refused to see the musical. Word was they hated how the story was rewritten, especially Beej.
I was told that if the sequel seems determined to make Beej x Lyds canon, it's very intentional. That Tim Burton and Michael Keaton "want to set the record straight."
And it may be that some fanfic reading was involved at some point. Maybe.
