I know this isn't how most people see Walburga but you can't tell me what to do, just hear me out and imagine this:

James: knelt at Regulus' empty grave, staring at the stone as it rains

James: yeah, I know he didn't like flowers too much so I tried to keep it subtle.

Walburga: that's kind. I'm certain they would be appreciated. Silence how is...

James: Sirius is good. I'm surprised you care.

Walburga: you have no idea how this feels. You're not a mother

James, trying to hold back from saying 'you're not either': he loved you. Regulus.

Walburga: I know. You were...special to him.

James: are you making that up? I doubt he mentioned me.

Walburga: he wrote about you. In his diaries. After he went missing I couldn't help myself. It explains why he was smiling so often. You kept the colour in his face, right until the end.

James: is that why you're not calling me a blood traitor and cursing me?

Walburga: perhaps. Though I suspect you're not as noble a man as I had previously thought if you're weeping at the grave of a servant of the Dark Lord

James: it isn't about that

Walburga, smug: of course. May I have a moment?

James, finally standing up. Knees covered in mud: Fine. I'm sorry for your loss

Sirius Headcanons 🐾

#1; Sirius was heavily religiously indoctrinated.

Unfortunately, Sirius would be religiously indoctrinated to an INSANE amount, even years after running away to the Potters.

In my head, the Blacks had been heavily religious for centuries. Like, Christian Catholic type of thing. And Walburga would for sure drill all the usual things into Sirius’ and Regulus’ heads — all about sex being only for making kids and nothing else, masturbation being wrong and shameful, premarital intercourse and even worse, children out of wedlock being worst things ever — you get the gist.

And Sirius would probably be able to unlearn most things that he’d been taught at home, but I feel like things that fall into THAT category would always kind of stick with him? Like, there’d definitely be rumors going around all the time about him sleeping with half the school or something when he hasn’t even had his first kiss — both because he’s gotten sort of sentimental about it by then and also because he is horrifyingly ashamed about the thought of it being sinful and wrong unless it’s, like, someone he intends to marry or something.

So, when he and Remus get together, he keeps freaking out about little things that would be usual for a couple to do, y’know? Even hand-holding and cuddling is weird now, because maybe they used to be a little physically affectionate before when they were ‘just friends’, but now that they’re romantically involved, it’s like an alarm goes off in Sirius’ head anytime they touch like: ‘Whore, whore, whore, you’ll go to hell, you guys aren’t married, God will strike you down —‘, blah blah blah.

Sirius Black was a mamas boy in the way that he did everything to get her attention, good or bad, he did everything in his power to keep her looking at him even if the attentions was negative. He wanted her love so badly but at one point he learnt that he might never get it.

Regulus was a mamas boy in the way that he did exactly as she said, no matter what it was, he did everything she wanted of him in the hope that she would give him the slightest bit of attention and love. Regulus never learns that his mother would never love him, he dies knowing he betrayed her.

Walburga loved both her sons. When Sirius left, it destroyed her. She was inconsolable for months, years even. When Regulus died, a few months after Orion, Walburga stopped leaving the house, her mind felt fractured and broken and she couldn’t find a way to pick herself back up. She refused to allow anyone to see her like that. Eventually, she died alone in her house, leaving Kreacher to find her peacefully ‘sleeping’ in her bed.

thinking about walburga black hours. did she live long after regulus died? did she regret the way she treated both her sons and how she orchestrated their short feature in her life? what did hindsight give her? did she go crazy trying to convince herself it wasn't her fault that she lost both her sons before they were even 20? was she proud of Sirius for 'betraying' the order? convinced he didn't do it? did she want to visit him?

did she wish she married someone else? regret being pushed into a marriage with her cousin? wish she was born a man? OH MY GOD WISH SHE WAS BORN A MAN, it would make sense for her to think that way to a degree, men in her family have 100% of the political power, but what if it was something else? I ramble. I digress. I don't care. this part of the post wasn't planned but fuck it I'm typing what comes into my head

so maybe walburga yearned for the power the men had but thought it was normal, because anyone unfairly denied of power would want power, but maybe she wants it that much more than the other women in her position eg druella. she would never ever voice these feelings because she doesn't see the point, surely every woman feels this way. maybe she was confused by druella and the other women of her age for embracing their femininity when she felt all hers did was drag her down. maybe she was even angry that they could present themselves as the ladies they should be so much more happily than she ever did. what I'm getting at here is maybe at 11.24 pm on a monday I just accidentally begun headcanoning walburga black as the most severely repressed ftm.

now that I've written all this I want to say this is not good trans representation, this is a random sleepy blogger with a thought. trans people deserve better than walburga black, and I can see ways this idea could be portrayed very harmfully so don't cause harm guys

n so reg goes to rosier manor and walburga goes too and at night she sneaks out and finds the room pandora's in and its SCARY bcz theres blood n bugs everywhere n she was like 672 journals full of rambling in some ancient language and all types of weird shit and walburga is soo curious shes like bitch wtaf is this and pandora's chanting in fucking idk latin to raise the dead and the only thing walburga focuses on is that she speaks latin and shes like "omg finallyy some1 who speaks it it's so annoying tht no1 teaches their kids anymore 🙄" & pandoras like what bcz she hasnt had any1 talk to her in 3 months (she js wakes up 2 food somtimmes &only talks 2 hreself)

so they start talking a lott and walburga sneaks out evry night for her and pandora's obsesseddd w her bcz 1) omg human 2) shes perf and so walburgas obv like omg stawpp 😻 (dont really) and yeah

Eileen and Tobias died early. Probably by the age of 18, Severus. I don't think he would have gone to a death eater if his mother had lived. Tobias Muggle And I think his parents died early and that's why his house is in terrible condition.

Ah, of course, I focused on the Evans and the Potters because they directly affect Harry's path in the story, but the same thing happens with Severus. And I suppose it’s the same with Sirius too—I’m not sure when Walburga and Orion died, but when he comes out of Azkaban, they're clearly already dead. Which doesn’t make sense because aren’t witches and wizards supposed to live longer than Muggles? So why do we have characters who are barely in their 30s and their parents are already dead? Let’s say Lupin’s parents die when he’s in his 20s, fine, but then at 33, he has no parents anymore—what? It’s true that many people lose their parents for various reasons before reaching 40, but isn’t it super convenient that literally EVERYONE from the Marauders’ generation lost both their parents before 30? I mean, wtf??
