Y’all I was just think about regulus black and one of the things sirius calls regulus is soft so what if in terms of the noble and ancient house of black soft equals to having empathy yeah sirius is in the order fighting on the good side but for the most ancient house of black I mean having empathy wouldn’t be a good thing they would call that soft or weak and view that as a weakness and maybe that’s why regulus joins to be a death eater to prove himself worthy of being a black that he’s not just soft but worthy of being in the most ancient house of black but in the end he literally does a noble or “soft” thing and tries to end Voldemort which obviously doesn’t work because regulus probably thought Voldemort only made one but still he did that and while yeah regulus probably believed that muggles were inferior he changed his viewpoint I mean hermione even says it herself and let’s not forget that he literally was nice to kreacher and probably more house elves than any other pureblood wizard/witch would ever be but so I don’t know

it's 1889, Marquis and Marquess Orion and Walburga Black, are searching for an appropriate lady of an influential family for their son, Lord Regulus Black, to marry. Their first born had disappeared one night, assumed dead by most of civil society. However, they knew that he had escaped to work in the manor of Viscount Fleamont Potter.

They were also aware that the new heir of their family had a current illicit affair with the son of that Viscount. Walburga Black had attempted to sever that connection by limiting their ability to see eachother. Unfortunately for her, the galas the Blacks were expected to attend, were also attended by the Potters.

She learnt to push her acknowledgement of their affair aside with the expectation that it would not be found out by their peers and that Regulus would still marry and produce a heir. It is common for young men to have their affairs before and during marriage after all, even if this one was more illicit than she and her husband were willing to accept.

It comforts Marquess Walburga Black that Earl James Potter will also be expected to marry, knowing that her son is a jealous individual and might be unwilling to maintain their relationship upon the inevitable marriage of his affair.

The way I write the Black family in Silver Spoons is so interesting to me. They give me Game of Thrones vibes (not the incest but we all know they do that too). Like they’re just all calculating.

Sirius had Alphard ( Walburga's younger brother ) and Regulus had Lucretia ( Orion's older sister ) has favorite relatives.

Regulus looked really similar to Arcturus , their grandfather. ( eyes' color / face shape / etc ) . Sirius looked like their mother instead. Neither one got Orion genes ( thanks lord ) .

Regulus was the only one their grandfather he greeted when entering the room / Aunt Lucretia often brought him biscuits that he liked ( it was their secret ) .

Alphard was the one who brought cigarettes to Sirius and sent them to him during Hogwarts.

In order there are ( I don't care about the canon ) : Cygnus, Walburga and Alphrad. ( one got the power, one got the heir and one got the freedom , that is Blacks' law ) .

Arcturus worked in the ministry, he started to bring Sirius and Regulus with him sometimes during meeting. ( he stopped to bring Sirius after first year at Hogwarts , guess the reason ) . ( this is why regulus is a REALLY good at debating ).

Bella and Andromeda were really similar, like twins, they were two years apart ( they got the Blacks genes, curly black hair, sharp features etc ) . Narcissa instead got Rosiers genes from her mother ( blonde hair, soft features etc ) ; she was many times mistaken as Pandora and Evan's sister when together. ( for that she was forced to dye her hair black growing up ) .

All blacks have a REALLY light sleep. Any sounds could wake them up ( sadly they usually also react to their wands waking up ).

Cassiopeia Black was all kids favorite aunt, stand on it. She was crazy yes, like bloody crazy, but she was the one who taugh the how to survive in Blacks house.

Tensions have always been high in the House of Black. Especially when it comes to younger Sirius trying to leave.

Tell me about Walburga and Sirius

To understand how I feel about them is to understand my walburga characterisation so we'll start there <3

Walburga hates being a woman. Namely because she hates not having power. In her marriage, she's more a womb than a person. She holds no real power compared to her husband and the power she does hold is secondary to his. Her only role is raising her son to be a good heir to the house and although she tries to gain some power outside the house, it's never much. She learns to resent her son and even more when he becomes so rebellious and difficult from such a young age. She was also raised by her father and she remembers how to treat rebellious sons and turn them into proper men (how her father treated Alphard).

Like Bellatrix & Sirius, the abuse would've been a humiliation tactic but also a tactic to try to enforce maturity and masculinity in her son. She would've engaged in the abuse and also sanctioned Orion abusing Sirius at the same time. All of this was under the guise of love. She loved her son, so she had to teach him how to behave properly. Of course, Sirius internalised this and put up with the abuse for a very long time because at least he was getting some attention from his mother.
