#WHY IS MK THE ONLY PERSON YOU HAVE

hiiiiiiiii im so mentally ill abt the swk-mk relationship from 1x09 into ROTSQ. wukong literally goes from having this “oh shit i Care about this kid” moment in 1x09 to Not Being There when mk faces off against the possessed dbk in 1x10. and then at the start of RotSQ they sit on that damn cliff again and wukong, for the first time, invites mk in, and we get to see just how lonely he really is. and mk’s about to leave, hesitates, realizes this, and Chooses to spend time with wukong. im so #normalgirl about them
(and also there’s tiny little origami versions of the original pilgrims in wukong’s little new year’s setup. and that’s just so everything to me)
GOD.
There really something about that ROTSQ scene. The way Wukong comfortably turns as MK's stammering and trying to leave. He seems so...at ease in his loneliness.
I also lose my mind that their mini 4x12 training sequence takes place at the same temple:
Sun Wukong: "I've been alive a long, long time. I've fought along side the Brotherhood and the great Companions, and now you. You may not believe it but you are all stronger than you know! Every one of you is already a hero—together you can do this, we can do this! Are ya with me!"
((*cough cough* "Just believe in yourself! Even a smidge makes all the difference." *cough *cough))
The contrast (and similarity) to their ROTSQ convo:
Sun Wukong: "I got you where I wanted you, by putting myself where you wanted me. It's called: misdirection." MK: "Seems like a shady lesson." Sun Wukong: "Too soon, buddy." MK: "UGH, I'm never gonna be as good as you." Sun Wukong: "Pst, not with that attitude!"
Their whole strategy in TEW was getting Azure where they wanted him, by putting themselves where Azure wanted their team. Really #normalgirl about it all

for the record, mk’s favorite march sister is amy
(yes im elaborating on a silly doodle i did days ago, yes this is the most unnecessary post ever, move along)
to clarify: im looking at this through the lens of greta gerwig’s little women because in spite of having seen the 1994 version my fair share of times i could tell you almost nothing about it for some reason
i don’t think this is something he’d openly admit because of her more childish scenes. she can be loud and cruel and she burns jo’s writing and so it’s easy to dislike watching her
but she also steps up. “learns her place”. ignores what she feels because she believes she has to become something. although not thoroughly explored in the movie, i gotta imagine how absolutely lonely she must feel.
see where im going with this? i think that would really resonate with him and so her character would grow on him. he’s jealous that she can express her “worst” emotions. he’s annoyed with her pettiness because it’s unreasonable to him. these are the same things he could never allow himself to do or think or feel because he has to be something.
so seeing her change hits. because he did that too. don’t get me wrong im not saying they’re the same character or anything lol but in her he sees the heart of the child he once was and the desperate, lonely person he became.
oh also dedede likes beth because he cries every time a parent or child dies in a movie
#yes i did just write 5 paragraphs about a Nintendo character’s favorite little women character. hi im normal i promise#will i ever be normal about meta knight#okay. i know I posted the little women thing like a month ago now but i wasn’t sure if this was important enough to say#and now ive decided who cares im gonna say it anyway you can literally just ignore this it’s so unimportant why would it ever come up again#but anyway shout out to the one person who pointed out that mk never said who his favorite was#you were so close to avoiding a quinn ramble until then#i did consider clarifying it in that post but i hate saying stuff without over explaining it and the picture itself was already very wordy#it just didn’t make sense#idk why i havent rambled much about ll yet actually that’s a little shocking..#but this is fun i might shut up less often#yeah this was originally a shitpost but#this is just what I do#im just gonna tag this with kirby headcanons and call it a day#hcs#taking things too seriously let’s go#apparently i lied and that post is only slightly over two weeks old but with how those two weeks have been for me it may as well have been#a whole month#yeah

may I request headcanons for Wukong, MK, Red Son, and Macaque finding out their crush or S/O has a snort laugh that they try to hide?
please and thank you
PLEASE?????????????? GOD I HAVE A SNORT LAUGH TOO AND THIS FEELS SO PERSONAL I'M GONNA BLOW UP
Reader is Gender Neutral by default
MK
S/O
MK absolutely LOVES to make people laugh and you are no different
So when he finds out you have a snort laugh, he REVELS in it
To him, it's a sign that he's doing a really good job and! It's really fucking adorable for him
If you're self conscious about it, he won't push you too much about it
He'd never want you to feel uncomfortable while you're with him, so he'll never push further than he's allowed
He'll always express how much he loves it when he gets the chance to though, don't get me wrong
Eventually, it gets to the point he develops his own and it's a never ending cycle between you two
It feels nice to have a bit more of a positive about your snort, but it does hurt after a while--
MK gets worse when he purposefully does what he knows makes you laugh the most
Your nose and throat hurts by the end of it
If you're laughing especially hard, he'll be grinning ear to ear at just the sound of it
He's glad to have ONE consistency in his life, what with everything that goes on
So if he can listen to your laugh before the next crisis, that's enough for him
(THEY TOOK MY YELLOW TEXT--)
Crush
(darkskinredsontruthertilIdie)
You so happened to slip up one day when Redson heard it the first time around, immediately trying to hide it right after
He didn't think much of it, not in the way you'd think at least
He always associated it as another irritating staple that he loves so much about you and infuriates him that it is
Like, excuse me
How dare you have the most charming, cute and cheeky laugh he's ever heard?
A peasant like you shouldn't be making his heart soar so much and so easily all the damn time
What the fuck >:(
Redson wouldn't trying to fish for it as much as the others, his pride prevents him
But he does savour the moments you do do it, don't get me wrong
However, when he sees you hide it every time right after, a part of him wants to try and ease your worries. At least, that's what he thinks
"You know... you shouldn't feel like you should hide your laugh."
"For all the annoying little quirks you have, this one is..."
"It's... endearing."
Silence.
Silence...
"Redson? Are you going soft on me?"
"NO! No- Do not-"
"D'awwww, you care!!"
"Redson cares for me!!"
"Know what?! Forget I said anything."
Cue the laughter, only this time with a bit more snorting given his reassurance in his own special, Redson way
In your fits of laughter, you miss a small smile growing on the demon prince's lips
In all your teasing, it's worth it to see you like this
Crush
Wukong has a tendency to be cheeky to the tenth degree and then some
So trust and believe he already knows
And he REVELS in it
He likes the sound of your laugh in general, so the fact he manages to get you laughing so much that you start snorting makes his heart do flips
He doesn't like that you try to hide it, but he'd be the last person to talk about not hiding something you're self conscious about
Given the whole shared headcanon of glamour, it becomes pot and kettle
Has that ever stopped him tho?
No
So why would it now?
He tries to get you to feel more comfortable with your laugh because he finds it very important to him
Is it another reason amongst a sea on why he loves you?
Yeah
Will he admit it?
No-
Well?
Not now-
Ahem
Anyways, when he hears your genuine laughter, he's shining like the sun and absolutely BEAMING with joy and whines when you hide it
"NONONO, don't hide it! I love your laugh!"
"Don't hide it please :("
Pulls out the big guns (puppy dog eyes) just to make you agree
"Fine"
Happy Monkey <3
Of course, he genuinely does try to make sure you're comfortable about it and reassures you in his own Monkey King way, so don't be too worried.
S/O
Like Wukong, Macaque is the last person to tell you not to hide something, the scoundrel
Motherfucker is hiding EVERYTHING
Smoke and Mirrors the character™
But, that has never stopped him before
With that established, given how all doom and gloom this brooding monkey is, he finds solace in your laughter, and he's picked up on your snorting even when you try to hide it
He hears all
But, unlike the others, he won't push you or try to convince you to reveal something you don't feel like revealing
He would know how that feels personally
And if Macaque is anything at all, he's self aware. enough
He'll let you get comfortable laughing in front of him to your fullest at your own time, while giving you quiet reassurance now and again
Once you're sure he won't judge you for it and you're fully comfortable, your laughter makes him the warmest he's felt in so long
Who would've thought? The Six-Eared Macaque has a heart!/j

hii, may I request macaque, wukong, and MK (seperately) x reader who likes to put ribbon bows on their tails? Thought it would be a cute idea ^_^
Hii!! Thank you so much for the request, this is such a cute thing to think about! I hope you enjoy! EDIT: I FORGOT TO WRITE MK IN THIS AS WELL, IM SO SORRY 😭
Macaque, Mk & Wukong With an S/O who likes to decorate their tails!
Wukong:
Wukong is most certainly confused by your strange habit
If you were to ask him to put a ribbon or bow on his tail, he'd give you a strange look
"A bow? Well... uh, sure bud!"
It doesn't really match his whole "Great Sage Equal to Heaven" schtick in his opinion
What would formidable enemies think if he went into battle with a cutesy bow on his tail??
His monkeys most certainly make fun of him for it, much to his dismay
He wouldn't wear it if he was about to go into battle or leave his mountain at first, because if his monkeys make fun of it who knows who else will do the same?
Eventually he'll warm up to it
If you tie a little orange ribbon at the end of his tail trust and believe he will be working it with pride
"Oooh, I like this color! Goes well with my fur,"
He'd start longingly staring at the sweet ribbons you tie on his tail whenever you're not around and he misses you because they remind him of you
He'll start wearing them out in public with a bit less shame, happily flicking his tail in peoples faces
"Look! My partner gave it to me, isn't it so cute?"
And he'll start wearing them in battles too!
Having a little piece of you there with him gives him just a little bit of an extra boost and reminds him of all of the things he's fighting for
Now he likes to think they go well with his personality
"Great Sage Equal to Heaven" whos not afraid to have a bit of a cutesy accessory while he kicks butt
If you're more sneaky with their placement though, that's a whole other story
He's out enjoying a nice bowl of noodles with his favorite mentor, only mentor honestly, and he hears them chuckle and point at his tail while uttering the words "Nice bow Monkey Princess,"
His face goes bright red and he quickly curls his tail around his leg to hide the thoughtfully tied ribbon from view
"Yeah, so what?! Maybe I was just feelin' a bit more elegant today, you ever think about that?"
But as soon as he bids Mk adieu he's right at your doorstep with his arms crossed over his chest and a pout on his face
An embarrassed scolding is in order for you, that's for sure
"Hun, you know I love you, but you can't just tie ribbons on my tail like that! Do you have any idea how embarrassing it was when my mentor called me a princess?!"
Eventually he relents and you two end up in a hug, his go-to when reassuring you that he's not mad or he's sorry
"Just don't do it without telling me. Next time I could be faced with Macaque, and you know how he is."
All in all it takes him a bit of time to warm up to it, but after that he'll flaunt them, and you, with confidence
Macaque:
Macaque is a lot more reluctant than his sunny counterpart
He has a tough bad boy image to uphold, why on Earth would he let you bedazzle him with your silly ribbons and bows?
"A bow? No thanks darlin'."
It takes lots of begging and whining before he caves in, and even then he refuses to go out in them
You couldn't waterboard the information out of him, but when you finish carefully tying up the little red ribbon on the end of his tail he's in love
It goes well with his cape and adds a sort of air of sophistication onto his overall demeanor
It's probably just the inner drama queen in him speaking but it makes him feel weirdly fancy and extravagant
But again, he's not going to tell you that
He won't protest as much when you tie them on
Will suggest different colors and ways to tie the ribbons
"Why don't we try purple this time? No it's not because I care about what it looks like- it was just a suggestion!"
Sometimes he tries to put them on himself because he's embarrassed to ask you, but he quickly figured out that he cannot tie bows for the life of him
And even if he learns, they're just not the same as yours
He will eventually come around to the idea of wearing them in public
He keeps his ribbon clad tail hidden beneath his cape most of the time unless he's feeling particularly confident or he wants to show it off on purpose
If anyone has the gall to try and make fun of it he's quick to shoot them down
"Yeah I have a bow on my tail, my partner gave it to me. Aww, don't tell me you don't have a partner of your own? Is that why you think you're funny? Because you don't have anyone at home to tell you you're not?"
He warms up to the idea so much that he begins to regularly ask you to decorate his tail with multiple bows and ribbons
One time, as a silly joke, you tied a particularly big red bow at the base of his tail and jokingly told him he looked like a show cat
It was a funny joke, but Macaque really really liked it
So much so that he wore it regularly, asking you to tie it on for him every time he went out
If you were to be sneaky and tie it on his tail without him knowing well..
He's actually not that upset
He's hanging out with Mei, probably the one he likes and relates to the most out of everyone, when she giggles and points at his tail, calling him 'coquette' or something
He's not sure what that term means, but he does find the fact that a little pink bow being tied on his tail without his knowledge to be amusing
Just for funsies he keeps it on all day
If and when he decides to go visit the culprit, which he knows is you, he playfully chides you
"Alright sugarplum, you know I have an image to uphold! You can't just slip little pretty pink bows on my tail without my permission!"
Once you two have had a good laugh he just chuckles and presses a kiss to your forehead
All in all he really likes the bows that you decorate him with and takes it as a sign of affection, but it takes a long time for him to be open about it
Mk:
Mk in his monkey form is certainly.. something
He can't quite control himself in that form yet, but that isn't to say that he's constantly violent
He just doesn't know his own strength
With his monkey form more stern and serious, he doesn't hold back, he's blunt
And, completely unrelated, his voice is like two octaves deeper
He's scared he might hurt you, or the people he cares about, so he rarely ever uses it unless he's in battle or training
In hopes of making him more comfortable and as a way of letting him know that you're okay with this side of himself, you began tying bows on the end of his tail
He's not sure how to feel about the idea at first
"Tying.. bows? Sure, I guess.."
He doesn't know if you don't take him seriously or if you're just trying to be sweet
He's still getting used to having a tail, so sometimes it gets caught on things, which will occasionally lead to your ribbons getting torn
It makes him feel horrible for some reason, and he's always presenting the torn fabric to you like it's the remains of a dead soldier or something
"I'm so sorry. It was an accident, I promise,"
He's not against wearing them out in public (not that he ever goes in public with his monkey form)
If it's after a battle and someone were to say anything about his bow he'd hardly care
"Looks like we got a funny guy over here everyone!"
And everyone in the vicinity glares at them
Much like his mentor, he slowly starts seeing the bows less as just some silly accessory on his tail and more as a subtle reminder of you
Whenever he's in his monkey form he makes sure to come to you for a bow
"I'm feeling kinda red-ish today, what do you think?"
Your plan works, and he starts feeling better about his over powered simian side
You love him no matter what, freakishly strong or just a silly delivery boy, and the bows are just a testament to that
All in all, he finds them adorable, and what they represent fuel him to fully embrace this side of himself in order to protect the people he cares about

Not a request, just blabbering about the “not the beloved au” because. God. Poor MK. Obviously, y/n is the one suffering the most from the dynamic, but MK’s development is being stunted by the way the two kings are raising him. Never being told no, having everything and everyone live their life to accommodate around him- sure he’s still a toddler, they’re going to be stupid, but he’s resorting to hurting himself when he doesn’t get what he wants (ie Y/N, a whole person!) that is very troubling behavior.
I’d hate to see how he’d be grown up- he’d definitely still be a hero- he IS a good kid, he’d want to help people- but what happens if he’s not able to beat someone in a fight immediately or he’s outmatched? How much of him fighting would just make things worse because he’s used to the world bending over backwards to make him happy?
Poor kid.
Not The Beloved
Anon, I'm so glad you brought this up, because on surface level, NTB!MK is a little entitled menace. But when you take a moment to scratch past that unfortunate facade, then... well, yeah. He is a victim all in his own right, hard as it may be to see from a certain viewpoint. The only world MK knows is his own family and their home- his two dads, Y/N, the Flower Fruit Mountain monkeys, and the mountain itself.
The end. No school. No friends. Nothing.
And that's just the way his dads like it! Sun Wukong likes that his kiddo is isolated, stunted, socially awkward and somewhat entitled! That just makes him easier to spoil! Easier to love! And Macaque, too! If he helps to custom-cater a world that his beloved baby boy can't survive outside of? Then MK can't leave, and thus can never escape his love and care!
Which is exactly why MK needs the reader.
In spite of being everything that the little kid is not, Y/N's startling normality is the only grounding factor that MK has to let him know that something is wrong. Because Y/N didn't have the upbringing that their little brother had, they have a legitimate claim to being the least mentally-skewed of the family, which is, unsurprisingly, one hell of a boon.
Like, MK has it great... at first. Never Having to do chores or make your own food, and having your overbearing daddies brush your teeth and tie your shoes for you is awesome when you're four, but sucks ass when you're twelve and can barely function outside your role as a spoiled prince-
But! There's still Y/N!
Frustrated, jealous, and angry Y/N. Y/N, who seethes and huffs and kicks their feet and grits their teeth and punches their pillow into pulpy fluff, who curses under their breath and has to burn all the letters they write about how much they despise their family. Y/N who was only spared punishment after the scraps of those letters were found because MK cried and begged for his daddies to forgive his older sibling because-
Because Y/N, in spite of their jealously and anger, will still roll up both sleeves, sit down, and teach their little brother how to tie his shoes, how to roll up a tube of toothpaste to squeeze the last bit out, how to boil water and brown meat.
There's this normalcy to being hated by someone that anchors MK to reality, even though he's a little too young and naive to really put his grateful feelings into words, so instead it all manifests as "Y/N is my favorite person ever and ever!" that Wukong and Macaque don't like (because they are both horribly jealous) but will force Y/N to reciprocate.
And even when his beloved older sibling bullies their parents into coughing up the necessary resources in order to head off to college, MK keeps in touch with the phones he begs both his fathers to buy, and manages to maneuver them both into two strict "buts".
Specifically, "You can go off to college, but you have to keep in touch with us and MK." and "We'll foot the bill, but you have to come back and stay here during the weekends."
Which is... enough. Enough of a thread cut loose that Y/N slips free to experience at least a mildly normal life pursuing their desired field with some actual space to grow and heal and establish normal relationships outside of their toxic family.
(Even though they're definitely becoming the mom/dad friend.)
Then there's the matter of "How good of a hero will MK be without his good-natured upbringing, courtesy of Pigsy and Tang?" that you brought up, and the answer to that question is: "Don't worry about it, because MK doesn't get to be a hero."
After all, why would his dads risk losing their miracle baby?
So it isn't even "Would MK ditch a fight or otherwise give up on it when he struggles?", it's "Can Y/N bare-knuckle Red Son's cute face into pulp with only their long suppressed rage as fuel?" because MK isn't the hero of NTB- Y/N is.
And they don't ever intend on losing the new life they fought to find.

MK's First Dad
The snakes represent my many, many dads!
Why yes, MK, they do represent your many, many dads.
Or rather, one dad, many times.

This dad.
So very clearly, the world of Lego Monkie Kid has been experiencing timeloops. Nuwa made MK to collect the stones and when the cycle of the world ends, he yeets himself into the pillar, and restarts everything from the beginning. Without outside factors, everything happens the same as it always did.
The Celestial body establishes itself, demons run amok, the journey happens, society builds, further and further until at least the Jade Emperor and maybe the other Guardians reach the end of their life and the Heavenly Pillar starts to crumble and has to be rebuilt and start the cycle.
Until THIS cycle where the Nine Headed Demon decided to wake MK up early.
And you know what?
I believe every single word the NHD said after he revealed himself was one hundred percent the complete and utter truth. He never ONCE lied to MK or any of the others, at least not from his perspective.
From the explanation of his motives, to the idle comments.
We see this in what he says he's doing. NHD said he isn't trying to push MK to a choice. What he wants is for MK to MAKE a choice. If MK chooses to sacrifice himself, NHD said he's going to save everyone, affirming his choice. By that same token, when MK comes back out of the pillar, he says he choose to face the end together in a supportive tone, affirming his choice again!
NHD didn't lie. Whatever choice MK made, he supported and encouraged MK in it.
His tune only changed, ONLY changed when he was terrified he was going to be trapped in the cycle again. And even then, it was only a brief moment. Once he saw he didn't have to be trapped, he was back to supporting MK, and he was relieved.
Even with the way NHD interacts with the others shows this. NHD allowed them to SPEAK. He only interfered when they tried to PHYSICALLY take MK's choice from him. NHD was fully enabling them to convince MK to make the choice they wanted him to make. They were allowed to persuade, because it was still ultimately MK who got to decide what he was going to do.
From start to finish, NHD had two goals. One was to leave the cycle, which he saw as happening either way. Either everything fell apart, or he had a way out when the cycle reset. MK's moved changed his gateway and that's when he got upset, but he had no issue with MK's CHOICE, just the fact he would be trapped again.
And two, that very choice.
But why? NHD manipulated Azure. He manipulated the Yama Kings. Potentially a lot of people in heaven and those below, which is pretty against people making choices. So why does he care so much about MK's choice?
Because the cycle wasn't supposed to end for another eon.
Because this cycle wasn't the first, it wasn't the second, and it likely wasn't even the hundredth.
Which means MK didn't have Pigsy. He didn't have Tang, or Mei, or Sandy, or anyone else in his life. They were long dead by the time the Harbinger is released in every other cycle.
Now with MK having longer to cook, he may be fully grown. Or he may be a kid again, but I think with what NHD said about wanting to give the Harbinger a chance to have a life, the Harbinger is usually grown enough to be able handle the trials.
But he's probably not got a lot of personality going on. Nuwa may have chosen an extreme way to maintain the pillar, but she does seem to be trying her best to minimize suffering. She is repeating the cycle because its the only way she can see in protecting the world from chaos. She makes Harbinger because a sacrifice is necessary for the pillar, to remain as a building block like I think she is. Harbinger has to be someone who EXISTS, but if he's largely a blank slate, then the loss is not so great.
Harbinger lives to sacrifice himself. He has no family. He has no life to lose.
But this means someone who is blank and potentially easy to lead astray.
This is why the trials. Because really, Harbinger is suppose to just live, grab the stones, yeet. Why does he need TRIALS? But then there is what the trials actually teach, as we know them.
A trial of resolve, to push through to the end despite the dangers. To endure danger and hardship to the end. Then the other trial, of focus on self, on what he needs to do in the present. But what's interesting is the DANGER of this one. Its not to Harbinger, but whoever is with him.
These trials are to make sure Harbinger has the nerve to go through danger and hardships to get to the end of the quest...and to keep his focus to PROTECT OTHERS.
Harbinger is made to be a sacrifice. He is made to protect. He is made to save. What happens if he sees people in danger on the way to the pillar? He would get distracted, but in delaying, he puts them in MORE danger. He has to be able to ignore those in smaller danger, and focus on his inner task, to make sure he focuses on the greater goal of sacrificing himself to keep them ALL safe.
I'm sure the dragon and tiger would have something similar.
So the trials help train Harbinger into some personality, but he still has to GET there. More over, he needs to have SOMEONE for the Black Tortoise.
The Yama Kings also know about the Harbinger. They know when he should be released and what he is supposed to do. They likely know what he is supposed to be like, and likely they are also how MK is supposed to even GET to the Jade Emperor.
The Harbinger needed a guide.
And I think that is the Nine Headed Demon.
Because here is the thing. NHD says he's not a monster. And he's tired of being the hero. And he isn't lying.
Here is the cycle.
The world starts. The Celestial body establishes itself. Demons run amok. The Journey happens. Society builds. Nuwa at some point puts the Harbinger in the stone. Eons pass. The Jade Emperor hits the end of his life.
The Harbinger is released.
And NHD is there, as a representative of the Yama Kings who know enough to know this will happen and what is expected. NHD helps the Harbinger to the trials. He helps him to the pillar. He watches the Harbinger sacrifice himself.
The cycle begins again.
He is there again.
The Harbinger dies again.
Over and over, until at some point, perhaps after the first time, perhaps later on, NHD is exposed to chaos. Likely when the cycle is ending and resetting, there is a window that chaos seeps in and NHD is able to see all that is beyond the world.
This is likely why he thinks he's fine regardless of MK's choice. Either he left during the brief window of a reset, he everything fell apart, so he was freed. He didn't account for continuing on beyond the reset.
NHD sees beyond and he sees beauty. NHD sees beyond and now he can REMEMBER. Why is hard to say. Likely he made a deal with whoever "he" is, but regardless, NHD loves chaos and he retains his memories.
But NHD was chosen to help the Harbinger for a reason. He is not cruel. He is not heartless. He loves the masses. He wanted to save and protect them, even at a cost, so he was chosen to help the Harbinger.
It is why even after he saw chaos, he chose to return. He had seen something so GOOD in his eyes, and he wanted to see if he could change the mind of those in the world. To convince Heaven to LET the chaos in. To end the resets and allow chaos and life to CHANGE beyond.
But no one listens.
They reject him.
Call him a monster.
The cycles continue.
He tries. He tries persuasion. He tries trickery. He likely tries force, but the Harbinger is too strong to stop and he will fulfill his destiny. He asks for help.
He even asks the one person who might stop the Harbinger.
Sun Wukong.
NHD said they were old enemies and old friends. NHD sought a solution, so he would ask who he could for help. Sometimes he could convince Wukong to help him. Others, he couldn't. And sometimes, he managed to get Wukong enraged enough to become an enemy. But unfortunately even with Wukong's power, he's never quite strong enough to keep the Harbinger from the pillar.
Likely because the Harbinger wants nothing more than to get to the pillar, and ultimately, the Harbinger is just some kid getting used, and Wukong can't bring himself to kill him. Allowing the Harbinger a moment to get through regardless of how the fight is actually going.
Which could be going far in Wukong's reaction to MK.
NHD said that MK is a remnant of chaos. Which means either the clay he was made from...or from Wukong's stone. And since the Celestial Primates are ODDITIES, its likely Wukong's stone that has that bit of chaos in it that Nuwa is using in her sacrificial building block. No one is gonna be able to make Wukong do anything he doesn't want, and likely none of the other primates, and Nuwa doesn't want to ask anyone to end their life either. Start anew is better.
But likely this bit of chaos may be why Wukong feels a draw to MK. Some part of him remembers the Harbinger. Remembers his strength. Remembers he's a kid being used, who hadn't been allowed to live, who did so much for the sake of others. A kid who idolizes him. A kid who can use his staff.
I think it says something with how much Wukong focuses on MK becoming self confident and choosing things for himself and why he steps in with the Spider Queen because its a fight MK desperately doesn't want even though he SHOULD be capable of handling it, instead of thinking the fights are too much for MK like the Lady Bone Demon. Wukong wants MK to decide things for himself, he wants MK to LIKE himself. Wukong wants MK to choose to. There is a bleeding of the timeline because of Wukong's connection to chaos by being a Celestial Primate.
The Harbinger is a blank slate...but he is a person. NHD, at first, just wants to help the world. He wants to be the hero. He wants to move beyond the cycle. But in trying to find that path, he introduces new elements to the Harbinger.
The Harbinger starts to show signs of development. Of change. The Harbinger starts to laugh. The Harbinger starts getting cheeky. The Harbinger starts crying when fights break out at the end. There is LIFE in the Harbinger.
Yet another beautiful thing this cycling world rejects for the sake of continuing to spin.
NHD tries to find a third solution. He tries over and over again. He knows the Harbinger will continue to the pillar, to save the world, over and over again, and he doesn't have the power to stop him. The Harbinger will always choose to sacrifice himself. He cannot end the cycle by preventing the sacrifice. He looks for a way to move past the eon. Maybe if he had more TIME, he could convince people to give chaos a chance. Perhaps he could allow the pillar to crumble more slowly, allow the sun to peak in over time. If he could just get the box to OPEN, then that would be enough.
Except nothing works. He can't fight anyone strong enough to replace the guardians. He can't find another means to fix the pillar. He tries over and over again.
There are several consequences to this and I'll get into one of those in another post. (Red Son has some INTERESTING things going on.)
NHD cannot find a means to move beyond the cycle. He is getting disillusioned. He wants to save everyone. He wants to bring them to the sun. He just can't.
He knows...he knows he doesn't HAVE to keep trying.
He sees it every reset. He has a window. He can LEAVE the cycle himself. Let everyone stay in their cave forever.
Except.
He sees the Harbinger throw himself into the pillar. The one he's sees sacrificing himself countless times for a world he never gets to truly experience. He only gets slivers of it. Moments of joy. Moments of triumphant. Moments of pain. Moments of truly being alive, when he deserved so much more.
NHD is tired. His sanity is fraying. He could simply go...
But he decides one more time.
He would live the cycle one more time.
Because the Harbinger deserved to fully experience the world. The Harbinger deserved to DECIDE whether or not to keep the cycle going, or let the world fall apart.
He manipulates the world in a different way. He's lived this cycle countless times. He knows much of what happens. He chooses a time.
He knows DBK gets released. He knows in short order, the Lady Bone Demon also gets freed, whether this is by the Demon Bull Family, the Mayor, or perhaps even Macaque (I haven't gotten a solid theory on what Macaque's deal is YET, but I have a suspicion his revival may not be a consistent thing.) Either way, DBK getting freed gets Wukong off his mountain because DBK is running around with HIS staff and while Wukong isn't interested in being a hero, that is HIS staff, thank you very much.
And the Lady Bone Demon is simply too big of a threat to ignore.
Its the first time where Wukong HAS to be active.
Its also the first time, in a while, where Wukong leaves his mountain. At times, visiting this city because its the first time in a while where the incarnations of the pilgrims are in close proximity and Wukong can't help himself. He just has to check things are okay.
Its the perfect set up.
The danger of releasing the Harbinger early is people noticing him. He will feel compelled to help people. NHD is pretty sure there is no way to be rid of that. So he needs something to justify this powerhouse running around.
This is the perfect time. Pigsy is a family man. If he leaves the Harbinger nearby, he will at least take care of the kid, and hopefully take him in. NHD can't be sure, but perhaps he has an idea depending on if Mei always finds Pigsy and Tang independent of MK's existence.
It works though. The Harbinger becomes MK and he's in place to be noticed by Wukong, who NHD already KNOWS experiences some bleed. Has seen Wukong react to the Harbinger with familiarity. Knows Wukong will be intrigued by MK enough to stay close.
Then DBK's freeing comes and Wukong is acting on suspicions, and maybe NHD is manipulating other things, but MK ends up with the staff, and Wukong is declaring MK his successor and NHD is thrilled.
MK now has the perfect smokescreen. The Celestial court has no say of what goes on with Celestial Primates without direct force. They don't know how they WORK. If Wukong says MK is his successor, then clearly he's done some weird primate magic on the boy and that's why he's powerful. The fact DBK and the Lady Bone Demon appeared, it screams of potential destiny to Wukong to. Throw in a few more of Wukong's enemies, keep him thrown long enough to not risk him thinking too much. Not like its hard, Wukong doesn't often think too much.
Even if this set up did present a few unexpected challenges NHD didn't account for. Macaque was largely an unknown because without MK's influence, IF Macaque is ALWAYS revived, Wukong and him likely never make up. They have too much bad history and too much stubbornness to actually work through their issues without MK calling Macaque out on his bullshit and enabling them to have to be around each other without turning into a huge fight. NHD got lucky that it took as long as it did because while Wukong doesn't overthink, Macaque certainly does and his plan may have been in more danger if Macaque had longer to explore those questions from episode one.
But no one knows MK is the Harbinger.
MK is allowed to experience life and what is means to save and have people to care for and he gets to make decisions on the scale of restoring the pillar and its perfect!
MK not only can make a choice, but will have the experience to do so.
Its all NHD ever wanted for him.
He's likely been doing something to the Jade Emperor to hasten his decline, or perhaps an eon really counts for the end of the man's life. Either way, he just has to free someone who is strong enough to take on the Jade Emperor in that state, but isn't strong enough to keep the stone functional.
The cycle can finally end.
MK can make a choice.
He can be free.
NHD never lied to anyone. He wanted to save everyone. He wasn't a monster. He wanted MK to have the freedom to chose, whatever it was.
He was only ever against MK the brief moment when he realized the world would continue and he wouldn't have his gap to escape. He didn't know WHAT would happen after that moment. Chaos had a chance to come in. There was a chance chaos wouldn't be able to, or at least wouldn't be able to for a very long time and he was so TIRED, he just wanted out, and for a moment, he was afraid to lose the thing he wanted for HIMSELF.
But as he stands on those stairs, as he sees the chaos, he is relieved.
He is HAPPY.
His words to MK are genuine. They are full of care and perhaps love. The child he had sent to die was finally alive. He was brilliant and clever. He found a third option that he hadn't been able to do for eons past.
He knows chaos is coming and that there will be a battle. The chaos MK feared may still be allowed through. So he warns him there is danger, that he will have to deal with the consequences of what happens Next.
He wishes him luck and thanks him. Sends him to a home he is glad his Harbinger is allowed to experience. For better or worse.

♡ — 𝐩𝐨𝐨𝐫 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬
WARNING: slight nsfw, bunnies

imagine being one of the only female best friend's of Mei, and somehow you haven't met the Monkey King at all the first season or two
you didn't really give a shit to begin with
sure, it was amazing having MK as a best friend AND successor to some immortal jackass
all you've heard from MK is that Wukong was—
"HE'S THE BEESST!" MK squealed as he swung the red staff around in the air, swiftly doing stances with each turn. "Just as the legend says, [Name]! He's strong, handsome, and- and- he taught me that you should ALWAYS believe in yourself—"
"MK, I could have told you that myself."
though, there was a small part of you that wasn't atleast curious of what or who Sun Wukong is
it seemed MK talked about you alot, because sometimes Wukong asked for you to join
"Hey [Name]." MK would approach you as you held twenty dishes in hand, "Monkey King asked me... to ask you, if you wanted to- sort of- join in on the training—?"
that'd be when MK would receive a wooden spoon to the back of his head, sending him flying to the ground face-first
"HELL NO! HE GOT ONE OF YOU, I'M NOT LETTING HIM TAKE THE OTHER!" Pigsy would screech, somehow spawning another wooden spoon in his palms.
after that, MK stayed for shifts a bit longer than expected‐ you'd ask why and he'd tell you Monkey King seemed like he was sulking, so he gave him a break
weird stuff
it was during personal training that you'd finally meet the Great Sage‐ not under great circumstances
and no, it wasn't for the end of the world
MK was prepping his own moves, with you on the side for... support? Mei came around in a bit, sitting beside you.
"I wonder what else I can do.." MK mumbled to himself, pushing his hand out as it began to glow a bright yellow. "YAAAAAAAHH!"
everything went black
and you slowly opened your eyes to see Mei beating the absolute shit out of MK
"I'M SORRY, I'M SORRY, I'M SORRY—"
"YOU TURNED MY BEST FRIEND INTO A BUNNY- CHANGE HER BACK, NOW!"
you blinked, looked down, and screamed.
you quickly rushed- well, hopped‐ towards a full-length mirror and gazed upon yourself.
you turned into a life-sized bunny
half the day was spent with MK trying to turn you back but nothing worked, just a sweaty man on the floor and a whole lot of sobbing apologies
it would've been fine but you were starting to do strange things
like, you hated Pigsy for example
"Kid, what the hell is up with you?" Pigsy asked, his eyes filled with nothing but concern.
"Don't TOUCH me!"
you found some menstrual pads, chocolate, and some take-out noodles on your bed the next day
you weren't on your period.
you nudged people, head-butted, and didn't sleep at all at night
sometimes you'd watch MK sleep and he'd wake up to your purring, and then others would wake up to his terrified screams
finally, MK took you to Flower Fruit Mountain- he couldn't turn you back himself, but someone can
that'd be the Monkey King himself
you were especially weird this week- you had made a dirty den in the shop, growling at anyone who came near
so, yeah, that was kind of the last straw for Pigsy
when Monkey King came out to greet MK and Mei, he never did
he squealed at the sight of you, pushing the kids aside (quite roughly, sending them flying off the stairs) and rushed you with open arms
he kissed your face, nibbling your cheeks— a part of him actually thought you were an early birthday gift
"O-M-G! You're so cute! What brought you here, hmmmm? Oooooooo, I just wanna eat you up and put you in my pocket-" He babbled nonsense as he carried you, pinching your cheeks.
that was until you practically pounced on his face, pulling his nose close to yours as you stared into his eyes.
"You'd give me great kittens."
"...Oh?"
It took MK a while to try and separate you both and it took a while longer convincing Wukong to turn you back
"Look, man, I need you to bring her back to her- you know, normal self."
"But why????"
"You KNOW why!"
"If dealing with her is so difficult, I could... take her off your hands—"
"MONKEY KING." "DON'T YOU DARE!"
"WHAAAAATTTT?"
eventually, after like two days, MK convinced Wukong. it would've taken longer if it weren't for you actually telling him that you wanted to be yourself again
after Wukong's dramatic tears and hard hugs, he turned you back
lucky for you, you don't remember anything that happened after being converted
well, lucky for like a few seconds after you got back to the shop
"So you kind of asked Monkey King to, uh.." MK got close to your ears, whispering the rest."
your face went red, "I did what?"
"I think he was into it too—"
"WHAT?"

for the 16th rivalry between yandere lmk wukong and macaque?? please
Hm... I can try some rivalry HCs, sure!
Yandere! Sun Wukong vs Macaque
Pairing: Romantic - Rivalry
Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Obsession, Possessive behavior, Overprotective behavior, Stalking, Violence, Attempted kidnapping mentioned, Isolation, Jealousy, Dubious relationship.
I think this is a cool idea considering how their dynamic and characters are portrayed in canon.
After all, Sun Wukong and Macaque are meant to be opposites of one another.
They were once sworn brothers and friends, then after Macaque was left behind they were enemies.
Later on they become 'friends' again... but imagine if they both got attached to the same person while being enemies?
Maybe you meet Sun Wukong first, a known hero who gets all the fame.
You may even be close to the monkey king similar to MK, making you both friends.
In this case, Macaque's obsession over you would be to get back at Wukong.
He doesn't want to see the other monkey happy after just abandoning him.
Then while he's originally hunting you down out of spite... Turns out he can see why Wukong enjoys your company.
Alternatively, If Macaque gets obsessed first, he may also use it against Wukong.
Macaque is naturally manipulative, it would not surprise me if he used you to taunt Wukong.
After all, Wukong is beloved by many, but Macaque bets he isn't adored by a special someone.
This ends up making Wukong curious about you.
At the time Macaque wasn't dating you and was lying to mess with Wukong, which made the monkey king look into you.
Unfortunately now both monkeys begin to fight for your affection because Macaque can tell Wukong is going to take you from him... like he's taken everything else.
Another thing I'd like to note about this concept is the fact they seem rather evenly matched.
Macaque is quite literally meant to be Wukong's shadow, they have nearly the same abilities.
Clones, shapeshifting, although they have different fighting styles, they're very similar to one another with the exception of a few skills.
Their motives would also differ between one another.
Wukong tends to lean protective most of the time, while Macaque tends to lean possessive.
However, that does not mean they both aren't capable of these traits... That's just where they tend to lean towards.
I was going to say their rivalry would be petty, but that's only if they were on good terms.
Since Macaque is scared of abandonment, he'd probably aim to get rid of Wukong permanently if he felt you were going to be taken from him.
Meanwhile, Wukong doesn't trust Macaque to not do anything cruel with you.
They're both scared to lose you to the other, but again, different motives.
Wukong thinks you're going to get hurt, Macaque doesn't want to be hurt again...
Which makes both monkeys decide they should try to keep you away from the other.
I do think their rivalry would get violent but they'd never get to the point of killing one another as one of them will always retreat.
Macaque is always following you around like a shadow, hoping he'll get your attention with his sweet words.
Wukong warns you about him, but he's no better honestly.
Macaque stalks you through the shadows, Wukong 'watches over you' as different animals.
See? There's little difference between them but motive and method.
The two still stalk you, the two still fight for you, they're pretty much the same.
Just because Wukong isn't sly and overly charismatic as Macaque doesn't mean he isn't manipulating you in some way.
Both of them want to isolate you, both of them want you to themselves...
Seriously, is there much of a difference between 'protecting you' and 'isolating you' when it comes to them?
No, No there isn't.
Not only that but their fights are nearly catastrophic.
They're both ridiculously strong and determined to get their way.
It may even be a bit upsetting because Macaque just wants to find someone to give him attention?
He definitely takes this rivalry personally since Macaque thinks Wukong has everything.
When in reality, Wukong is probably in a similar boat.
They both just want attention and love from one specific person.
Which, unfortunately, happens to be you.
I can see them both being clingy and brutal in their obsession.
They both like to be playful and clingy with you, completely unwilling to share you.
They both have their sights on you as their partner, probably even for life if they can get you immortal.
Just imagine how their fights would go...
It would not be surprising if they came out of it bleeding, still growling at one another like feral animals until you step in to break things up.
While they may not kill one another, they often drag you around due to their rivalry.
For example, there were probably many times Macaque tried to drag you off into one of his shadow portals... Only for Wukong to step in.
Or maybe Wukong's trying to keep you on Flower Fruit Mountain to hide you from Macaque... Only for the shadow monkey to know exactly where you went.
I feel the only way to stop this rivalry, or at least make them stop being so brutal, would be after the Azure Lion arc.
By that point they're on better terms with one another, not quite friends but not entirely enemies...
Yet they both can't seem to accept the fact they both love you.
They'd tone down the fighting by this point but you'd still need to step in to soothe them.
For now they can accept the fact you love them both... yet they always want more.
They're greedy.
So even if you can calm them, they're still possessive.
They both want you as their own, to claim you and mark you as their chosen partner.
But, neither of them can get that far as the other one will stop them.
While they will accept the fact they both protect you, they both want you safe, and overall have the same goal to keep you happy...
They aren't happy until one of them wins.
They may not kill one another, but their fights seem to get close.
You worry for them, you really do.
Yet there's nothing you can do but let what's going on play out.
Even if you made a choice on which one you want as a partner, if you're even interested... The other would never accept that choice.
What might be worse is you probably don't even reciprocate.
You don't love them like they love you, you see them as friends.
Even if one of them won, you wouldn't be happy.
Either option still makes you isolated and hidden away from anyone else.
It's funny how similar they are... in a morbid way.
It just depends on what you prefer.
A manipulative monkey who wants to treat you like a toy he can't share...
Or would you rather have a monkey who thinks hiding you away will keep you safe and happy on a mountain?
Honestly, in the end, who wins doesn't matter for you... If there's even a winner.
You'll just be given the same outcome even if there's one who wins...
Maybe it's a good thing if neither of them have you and they continue to fight....

Taken Reverse Au (Wukong's Rage)
Since I’m taking my sweet time to get to this Moment in Taken- here, you can have an example for Taken Reverse~
——
There had been a split in the mountain.
A split that had twisted the land and left it in shambles, spurred by the rage on a single individual.
“Dad-” MK choked, struggling to keep his arm around his Father’s bicep, his feet digging into the floor below. He was dragged, leaning back a tad in hopes to give some leverage to stopping his father. “Dad, wait!”

The King would hear no protest. Not when he knew. Not when he NOW knew.
A confirmation with the Diyu, an admission from the man he considered his Brother, and he now knew.
He did not have one son, but two.
Twins.
One of his cubs was at his side, feebly trying to stop him as he stormed into the sewers of Megopolis, his eyes a burning red. His cub. To know that there had been another this whole time, and held in the hands of- of Spiders.
His eyes were aglow as he entered the sewers, the stench of decay and waste assaulting his nostrils. But the King paid it no mind. His focus was singular, his rage all-consuming.
"Dad, please!" MK pleaded again, his voice echoing off the damp walls. "You're not thinking straight!"
The King’s steps formed small cracks with each step. Not thinking straight? He’d never seen clearer in his life! MK’s brother—his twin—had been kept from them. From him! By those... those arachnids! By the damned Spider Queen!
Of course she knew! She must have! Nezha had-
God’s, his brother had confessed when Wukong pressed about it. In tears and on his knees he bowed before him, face against the ground. He admitted to his crimes.
“I’m sorry.. I’m so sorry..!”
Wukong thought he was joking- a cruel and unfunny hole, until Nezha whimpered “There is a reason your son is always getting sick with no cause or explanation.”
It was twisted.
It was unlike Nezha.
Stealing his own child with the intent to kill, but being unable to go through with it, leaving him to the care of humans. That alone was enough to make Wukong’s legs tremble and his stomach lurch. It hurt.
Gods it hurt!
He did not kill Nezha where he stood. Somehow he stilled his hand. Somehow he stepped back, less he scream or cry, or do both.
But he couldn’t linger there another moment longer. Such feelings he would have to deal with later. He had to focus on what was infront of him.
His second child.
Nezha had lost track of the child, he explained. The glamor he had put on the cub to keep him safe in disguise had broken- and the child was lost to his senses until years later, when he emerged as the right hand of the Spider Queen.
Seeing how she was using his energies to power her army- he knew he had to take action. Knew it wouldn’t be long before Heaven realized too and would get to the cub long before Wukong could.
Spider Queen.
She had been using him. Manipulating him to steal for her. Do wrong for her. He had rushed home to let his Mate know, but Mihou was out at the time. He sent a clone to fetch his mate, but had found MK instead.
His Son was clutching the very enblem of the woman who had stolen from them.
When he demanded why MK had such a thing, he explained about his friend.
Xiaozhizhu.
That was the child’s name. Little Spider.
MK had seemed unaware, only stilling when his Father’s expression grew darker. The grounds around them shook from his unkempt rage- cracking until it spit right below their feet. Wukong had never had to reel in such rage in his life, and had ultimately failed to keep it in check before he was charging to the City, MK hot on his tail in a panicked confusion.
Terrified that somehow Xiaozhizhu had angered his Father to the point he was heading right there. “Dad-! He isn’t a bad person, I promise!” No, not at all! He was going down the wrong path, yes, but he could turn around! He was sweet and smart! Fun!
Lonely…
MK had been so close lately to convincing XiaoXiao to even join him on some heroing. To give it a try and see that there was so much good he could do with his powers! He had even been getting along better with Red Son and Mei- Who had agreed to try due to their friendship with MK.
MK also had been working on getting Xiaoxiao to visit the mountain soon- to see some Monkey heritage. Since the guy had never really even talked to other demon monkey’s before, MK had hoped this could help him reconnect with his roots- whatever those were.
The King's pace quickened, his footsteps echoing louder through the dank tunnels. MK stumbled, nearly losing his grip on his father's arm.
"Dad, please listen! Xiaoxiao isn't—" he paled as the tunnels began to change, shifting from sewers systems to a metal lined opened cave system. The Spider Queen’s domain. Spiders, small and creepy were scurrying off the walls at the sight of the two Monkeys.
MK shrieked, clinging to his Father now to keep pace with him. He hated Spiders!
The King's nostrils flared as the scent grew stronger. His eyes darted around, searching for any sign of movement, any hint of his lost son. It stunk of the Spider Queen in here.
"Show yourselves!" he growled, his voice reverberating off the metal walls. The King pressed on, his feet leaving scorched imprints on the floor. From the shadows, alarmed at the intruder, large Spider demons were dropping to the floor, their eyes gleaming green.
Despite their barred fangs and sharpened claws, their hands trembled. Never had they expected for the Monkey King himself to wander in unannounced. His eyes flared at the sight of them, a few recoiling. One, who MK recognized aa the Huntsman, growled back.
"You dare trespass in our domain, Monkey King?" the Huntsman snarled, his eight eyes narrowing. "Leave now, or face the consequences!"
The King's response was a deafening roar that shook the very foundations of the lair. Several of the spider demons scurried back, the Huntsman even stumbling. His eyes were wide, petrified.
MK's eyes darted between his father and the spiders, his heart racing. "Dad, please-“ he tried to smile, struggling, “We can talk about this.”
But the King was beyond reason. With a flick of his wrist, a gust of wind was surging through the area, his eyes golden and gleaming. The spider demons recoiled further, their bravado crumbling in the face of the Monkey King's unbridled fury.
"Where is he…?" The King's words were slow, deliberate, each syllable dripping with barely contained rage.
The Huntsman, despite his fear, stood his ground. "We don't know what you're talking about, Monkey King. Whoever you seek is not here—"
"LIAR!" The Monkey King's roar shook the cavern, causing loose rocks to rain down from above. MK ducked his head, leaning against his Father to avoid such things. The King’s tail easily lifted above his child’s skull, blocking any debris from grazing him. MK had never-
He was wheezing, staring at the chaos in quiet shock. He had read the books, heard the stories, but his Dad was- he was the Monkey King yes, but perhaps it was only know that he truly realize- He was the Monkey King.
The Huntsman was scurrying back, “I-I swear, I don’t-” he felt his life flashing before his eyes when the King stepped closer. A shadow over his expression, looking more beast then man or monkey. MK had let go of his arm then, standing limply behind him.
There was no strength in his fingers against such- such power.
As the Monkey King advanced, the air crackled with energy. The metal walls began to warp and bend under the pressure of his power. The spider demons cowered, their legs trembling beneath them.
"Dad..." MK's voice was barely a whisper, lost in the cacophony of his father's rage.
Suddenly, a new voice cut through the chaos. "What's going on here?"
All eyes turned to the source, many relieved to see their glorious Queen. Her hair was down, dressed in the comfortability of a silken robe.
“Our Queen!” the spiders chorused, rushing to hide behind her. She gave them a small frown, wishing her minions were just a tad more useful.
The Spider Queen's eyes narrowed as she took in the scene before her. The Monkey King, radiating power and fury, his son cowering behind him, and her minions trembling in fear. She straightened her posture, chin held high as she addressed the intruder.
"Well well well. Sun Wukong in the flesh," she said, her voice cool and collected. "To what do I owe the pleasure of this... unexpected visit?"
The Monkey King's eyes flashed dangerously. "You know why I'm here," he said coldly, taking a step towards her. The metal floor beneath his feet groaned.
The Spider Queen's lips curled into a smirk, her eyes gleaming with amusement. She batted her eyes lashes with the ease of someone who had nothing to fear. "I'm afraid I don't, dear Monkey King. Perhaps you could enlighten me?"
"My son," Wukong snarled, his voice reverberating through the cavern. "The child you stole from me. Where is he?"
For a moment, surprise flickered across the Spider Queen's face, quickly replaced by a mask of indifference. "Your son? I'm afraid I don't know what you're talking about. The only monkey child I know of that is yours is the one cowering behind you right now.” she gestured a finger to him. MK flinched at her gesture, his stomach dropping. His mind was reeling.
Son?
What was his Father talking about? The Spider Queen's words hung in the air, heavy with implications. MK's mind raced, trying to piece together the fragments of information. His father's rage, the mention of a stolen child, and now this denial from the Spider Queen—it was all too much to process.
"Don't play games with me, Princess," Wukong growled, his voice low and dangerous.
“I am all for a good game, as you know, but this is not one of those times.” she walked around him, her steps measured, “The only child here that I could think of- is my own. MY little prince,” she touched her chest, a tad possessive in her tone.
The Monkey King's eyes flashed with a dangerous light. "Your prince?" he snarled, his voice dripping with venom. "You dare claim him as your own?"
The Spider Queen's smirk only widened. "Of course I do. He IS mine. I raised him, nurtured him, named him. He is mine in every way that matters."
MK's eyes widened. Xiaoxiao-?
No… No wait wait, that didn’t make sense. What were these two talking about. Xiaozhizhu was a monkey yes but he- he wasn’t…
He was the spitting image of his Baba.
His eyes, his smile-
MK felt sick suddenly, teetering to keep upright.
Xiaoxiao was his other half. Why was that? Why did he have this connection to a Monkey he had no blood relation to? Unless… there was a relation?
The Monkey King's fury reached a fever pitch. The metal walls of the cavern began to groan and buckle under the pressure of his power. "You lie!" he roared, his voice shaking the very foundations of the lair. "He is my son, my blood! You had no right to take him!"
The Spider Queen's composure faltered for a moment, her eyes darting to the trembling walls. She took a step back, her voice losing some of its earlier confidence. "I... I didn't take anyone, Monkey King. The child came to me, lost and alone.” a fire sparked in her eyes. Of course, when the glamor had been removed from his neck to reveal his true self- it took only a single examination of his soul by a trusted Doctor to trace the power back to one “Liu’er Mihou”.
The mate of Sun Wukong, the Monkey King. It took very little to piece it together. Though, even after all these years, the Spider Queen had yet to understand why things were this way.
Why the child was abandoned.
Why the King would toss away his heir.
When she realized he had another, one far more powerful and physically capable then Xiaozhizhu, she could only assume they kept the strong and tossed away the weak. A weak link she would gladly take as her own for future profit.
Only now did she consider something else far beyond her control had occurred during this all. A third party at work. Not that it mattered.
The Monkey King's eyes flashed with a mixture of pain and rage. "Lost and alone?" he snarled, his voice cracking slightly. "Because he was taken from us!"
MK's head was spinning. The implications of what he was hearing were staggering. Xiaoxiao... his friend, the boy he'd been trying so hard to steer towards a better path... was his brother? His twin?
The Spider Queen's eyes narrowed, "Taken? I was under the impression he was... discarded." She sneered.
Wukong lunged for her. She quickly ducked to the right, grimacing as he tore the wall behind her asunder.
The Spider Queen's words held in the air, heavy and poisonous. MK felt his breath catch in his throat, his eyes darting between his father and the arachnid monarch.
"Discarded?" Wukong's voice was barely above a whisper, but it carried more venom than any shout. "You dare suggest I would abandon my own child?!"
The Spider Queen's eyes narrowed, a flicker of uncertainty crossing her face. "Then explain, Monkey King, why your son was alone, lost, and without any trace of your protection when I found him." she stood, tossing her hair over her shoulder. ‘I am the one who nursed him to health when he fell ill. I am the one who he clung to when he took his first steps. That child knows nothing but these walls.” she gave a little tilt of her head. "I am his everything.” she held her arms out. “And you? You are nothing to that boy. And sugar~” she smirked, “He’s been quite useful.”
The Monkey King's fury reached a new height, his golden eyes blazing with an otherworldly light. The very air around him crackled with energy, causing the spider demons to cower further back.
"You..." Wukong's voice crackling with venom. "You took advantage of my son's vulnerability. You twisted him, used him for your own gain. You KNEW he was mine and you used that!"
The Spider Queen's smirk sharpened. "I gave him purpose, direction. Something you clearly failed to do."
“Watch your words!” he stepped closer.
“Or what?” she challenged. “You don’t seem to get it, do you? Do you?” she sneered. That child was her little Prince, her greatest thief, and her greatest assets for more than one reason.
To him, the “Monkey King’ was a stranger. Anything he even dared to do- it would not be met with understanding like one of his own kin.
And she was going to use this kid for every drop he was worth. His essence already powered so much of her machines. Even if he lacked in the power his Father had, it was more than enough.
He was so similar to his Baba after all.
Blindly loyal. And horribly naive.
A silly boy… but still her’s. And she wasn’t just hanging him over.
The Monkey King's eyes flashed dangerously, his fists clenched at his sides. "You underestimate the bond between father and son," he growled. "No matter what lies you've fed him, blood calls to blood. He will know me."
The Spider Queen laughed, a cold, mocking sound that echoed through the cavern. "Oh, you poor, deluded monkey. Do you really think he'll welcome you with open arms? No~ He’s Mine now.” she spat at his feet, “And you are never getting him back.”
The Monkey King's rage exploded. With a primal roar, he lunged at the Spider Queen, his fist connecting with the metal wall where her head had been a split second before. The impact sent shockwaves through the entire lair, causing chunks of debris to rain down from above.
She grunted, spinning to the side and zipping into the air using a web. As the area delved in chaos, MK screamed.
"Dad, stop! Please!" He cried out, his voice barely audible over the chaos. This wasn’t the way to do this!! But his father was beyond reason, consumed by a fury unlike anything MK had ever witnessed.
Wukong was right on her heels. The Spider Queen's eyes widened in alarm as she realized the true extent of the Monkey King's power. She swung frantically from web to web, barely staying ahead of his furious attacks. The lair shook violently with each missed blow, metal twisting and crumpling like paper.
"Where is he?!" Wukong roared, his voice echoing through the caverns. "Tell me where my son is!"
MK watched in horror as his father tore through the lair, leaving destruction in his wake. The spider demons scattered in panic, fleeing deeper into the tunnels.
There were sparks of gold- the King moving faster then most eyes could follow. In an eruption of sparks he and the Queen were slamming against the ground, his hand wrapped around her throat.
The Spider Queen gasped for air, her eyes wide with genuine fear as the Monkey King's grip tightened around her throat. The metal floor beneath them buckled and warped, creating a crater around their impact point.
"I'll ask you one last time," Wukong growled, his voice low and dangerous, his other hand reeled back to deliver a final blow, "Where. Is. My. Son?"
The Queen clawed at his hand, her voice barely a whisper. "I... don't... know..." That wasn’t a lie. He was out at the moment. The child had been disappearing on a whim more and more- of course at the most inopportune times.
“Not good enough!” The King- The Monster, tightened his grip, feeling bones threatening to give way below him.
He would have crushed her throat had it not been for a piercing shriek behind him. His boy, MK, was pleading, "Dad, stop!" MK screamed, his voice cracking with desperation. "You're going to kill her!"
The Monkey King froze, his fist mere inches from the Spider Queen's face. For a moment, the only sound in the cavern was the Queen's ragged breathing and the distant echo of falling debris.
Slowly, Wukong turned his head to look at his son. MK stood there, tears streaming down his face, his body trembling. "Please, Dad," he whispered, "This isn't you. This isn't right." he couldn’t recognize this man in front of him. Where was his Father at? Where had his hero gone? Who was this that he was looking in the eye right now?
The Monkey King's eyes flickered, a hint of recognition breaking through the haze of rage. His grip on the Spider Queen's throat loosened slightly, but he didn't release her entirely.
"Xiaotian..." he breathed, his voice hoarse and unfamiliar.
MK took a tentative step forward, his hands outstretched in a placating gesture. "Dad, I know you're hurting. I know you're angry. But this... this isn't the way." He swallowed hard, fighting back more tears. "What would Baba say if he saw you like this?"
What would Mihou say?
Would he be right here with him, ready to end this woman’s life, or would he be uncaring for such poultry demons? Would his entire focus be on just finding their lost child- while avoiding traumatizing their little star?
The Monkey King's grip loosened further, his eyes losing some of their dangerous glow. The mention of his mate seemed to pierce through the fog of rage, bringing him back to himself. He looked down at the Spider Queen, still gasping for air beneath him, then back at MK's tear-streaked face.
"Xiaotian," Wukong said again, his voice softer now, tinted with regret. Opening his mouth to say more, a strange sensation came to his hand- a sharp sucking sensation, loosening his grip to the Spider Queen.
He whipped back to her, finding her form dropping into the very ground below. His eyes were wide, knowing such a trick anywhere. How could he not?
The shadows….
Was his Moon here? Had his clone found Mihou and drawn his mate here?
It was enough questions for him to hesitate long enough for the portal to close and the Queen to be gone from his judgement.
The shadows yes… but something was different about. Frowning and confused, he heard MK
“Xiaoxiao-” he was choking.
Wukong turned sharply back to his son, but the boy was not looking at him anymore. His tear stained face was angled at the side tunnel, wide.
Wukong followed MK's gaze to the side tunnel, his heart skipping a beat. There, partially hidden in the shadows, stood a young monkey demon. His fur was a rich light golden color, his eyes a familiar shade of amber. He was thin and wiry, dressed in dark clothes that blended with the shadows. A small spider emblem glinted on his chest.
By the gods, he was beautiful. His face was Mihou’s in every way- his eyes, his eyes brows, that little dimple on his cheek- the mark on his face.
This was him.
This was his boy.
The Child’s eyes were wide, his extended hand lowering a tad to show it had been him who has summoned the shadow just now, whisking away the Queen- his Mother, to safety. As he took in the scene before him - the destroyed lair, destroyed home, the cowering spider demons, and the imposing figure of the Monkey King- he inhaled sharply.
"Xiaoxiao," MK whispered, taking a hesitant step towards his friend - his brother.
The Monkey King's breath caught in his throat. Time seemed to stand still as he gazed upon the son. Emotions warred within him - joy, sorrow, regret, and a fierce, protective love that threatened to overwhelm him.
Then the cub spoke it was a sharp hissing sound that made him jolt, “What have you done?”
The Monkey King's heart clenched at the accusation in his son's voice. He took a tentative step forward, his hands outstretched in a placating gesture. "It’s you-," he said softly, his voice thick with emotion.
The child’s eyes widened, a mix of fear and confusion flashing across his face. He took a step back, his tail wrapping protectively around his leg. "Stay back!" Xiaozhizhu hissed, his voice trembling. He raised his hands defensively, dark energy swirling around his fingertips. His home- everything was destroyed…
His eyes kept flickering to MK. Why was he here?? Why was he just standing there and letting this happen?
The Monkey King's face fell, pain etching deep lines around his eyes. His ears flattened, the mighty King from a moment ago falling into a small and delicate whimper. “I-It’s- it’s hard to explain but-” he looked this boy up and down. His lower lip was trembling. This was his baby.
His knees were buckling.
Gods- what was he- he doing? How did he look to his child right now?
MK was blubbering, his eyes wide with panic as he felt the sharp sensations from his other half. The pain, the fear- the accusational anger that was growing, “X-Xiaoxiao wait, please. Let me explain,” he stammered, rushing to take his hand.
Xiaozhizhu flinched away from MK's outstretched hand, his eyes narrowing. MK made a sharp whimpering sound, his quivering at how sharp that denial felt to his chest. "Explain? Explain what? Why you're here with... with him?" He gestured sharply at the Monkey King, his voice rising. "Why my home is in ruins?"
The Monkey King took another hesitant step forward, his voice soft and pleading. "Please, son. I know this must be confusing, but if you'll just listen—"
"What did you just call me?!" Xiaozhizhu snapped, dark energy crackling around his hands. “I ain’t no “SON” of yours??”
Wukong opened and closed his mouth, speechless. “I…” he choked. He didn’t know how to explain. He didn’t know where to start. He felt such fear but such- he was dazed. This boy was as beautiful as MK was. With them standing side by side he could see it- same nose. Same way they carried themselves.
"Xiaoxiao, please," MK pleaded, his voice cracking. "I know this looks bad, but you have to listen. He's... he's our father."
Xiaozhizhu's eyes widened, then narrowed dangerously. "What are you talking about? I don't have a father. I have a mother, and you—" he glared at the Monkey King, "—just tried to kill her!" if he hadn’t come when he had she might have been- He couldn’t bare to think it. She wasn’t exactly Mom of the year, but she was still his Mom. He would have nothing without her.
The Monkey King flinched as if struck. "No, that's not... I didn't mean to..." he trailed off.
Xiaozhizhu's eyes flashed with anger. "You didn't mean to?! Look around you!" He gestured wildly at the destruction surrounding them. "You tore apart my home! You attacked my family!"
The Monkey King took a shaky step forward, his hands outstretched pleadingly. "Please, you have to understand. We're your-“ his voice was small, “- family. You were taken from us when you were just a baby. I am your Father,” the words came out groggy and pained. He put his hand to his chest, eyes so wide and pooling with guilt and joy.
Xiaozhizhu shook his head vehemently, backing away. What the FUCK where these people on right now? When MK tried to grab his hand again he slashed at him. “Don’t touch me!!”
MK recoiled, Xiaozhizhu flinching to realize he had almost struck him. His other half…
N-No he didn’t want that but-
This was too much. They weren’t making sense. His emotions- and then MK’s- it was jumbled. It was overflowing and making it hard to breathe. He wanted it to stop.
It was suffocating!
“Stop talking-” he wanted to cover his ears.
"Xiaoxiao, please!" MK cried out, his voice desperate. "I know this is a lot, but it's true. We're brothers - twins!"
Xiaozhizhu's eyes darted between MK and the Monkey King, his breath coming in short, panicked gasps. This couldn't be happening. It had to be some kind of trick, some elaborate scheme. "No," he whispered, shaking his head. "No, you're lying.” his hands shot up to his ears, his chest heaving with panicked breaths. This couldn't be real. It had to be some kind of nightmare.
The Monkey King took another step forward, his eyes brimming with tears. "Son, please. I know this is hard to believe, but—"
"I said STOP!" Xiaozhizhu screamed, dark energy exploding outward from his body. The force of it sent MK and the Monkey King stumbling backward, debris swirling around them.
Xiaozhizhu's eyes glowed with an eerie purple light, his fur standing on end. "I don't know what kind of game you're playing, but I want no part of it!" His voice echoed. He hand lashed out, and the two were sent skidding a few more feet. MK clawed at the floor to keep himself rooted there.
The Monkey King's eyes widened in a mixture of awe and concern. His son's power was raw, untamed, and tinged with something dark. It reminded him painfully of his own rages from centuries past. He had Mihou’s energy, his shadows…
“I-I’m sorry-” he stammered. Gods. Centuries past? No… no he was still making those mistakes here and now.
Chunks of metal and rock lifted from the ground, orbiting him like a chaotic asteroid field. His eyes, now glowing an intense purple, fixed on the Monkey King. "You destroyed everything," he snarled, his voice distorted and echoing. “You’ll pay for this, Monkey King.” his firey gaze locked on MK. Hurt and rage swirling together. “Monkey Kid,”
He was stepping back, to the shadows behind him. MK yelped and pleaded, rushing to stop him from leaving. “No no, Xiaozhizhu-!”
The shadows swirled around Xiaozhizhu, enveloping him in darkness. MK lunged forward, his hand outstretched, but he was too late. His fingers grasped at empty air as his brother vanished into the void.
"No!" MK cried, falling to his knees. He pounded his fists against the ground, tears streaming down his face. "Xiaoxiao, come back!"
The Monkey King stood frozen, his eyes fixed on the spot where his long-lost son had disappeared. The weight of what had just transpired crashed down upon him.
MK was sobbing, grasping at the empty wall. His sobs echoed through the destroyed lair, his shoulders shaking as he pressed his forehead against the cold metal. The Monkey King stood motionless behind him, his face a mask of shock and grief. He fell to his knees, cursing himself
What had he done..?
Suddenly, the shadows on the wall began to ripple and shift. MK's head snapped up, his tear-filled eyes widening with hope. "Xiaoxiao?" he whispered.
A figure emerged from the darkness then, but it wasn't Xiaozhizhu. Instead, a tall, slender monkey demon stepped out, smelling of sweet plums and home. The Six Eared Macaque.
MK openly wailed at the sight of him, rushing to toss himself into his Baba’s arms. “Baba…!” At once Macaque was drawn to the sounds of his baby’s tears, his arms wrapping around MK. He soothed the child against him.
“I’m here, Moon Drop.” He did not know what had transpired as his Son melted against his arms and openly cried, but he was here now. It had been… quite the trip here after Wukong’s clone arrived. Speaking things that couldn’t possibly be true.
Yet here he stood, in the Spider Queen’s domain, with nothing but a sobbing child, the ruins of a lair, and his husband flat on his knees, looking like he had just made the biggest mistake of his life. No spiders in sight. No Queen snickering.
And no lost child…
“…I got here too late, it seems,” he whispered quietly. So he held MK instead, focusing on him to fix one little piece at a time.

Macaque Episode Analysis ramble
So I was talking with a friend about the possible psychological and therapeutic take aways from each episode of Lego Monkie Kid, since I love Psychology as a whole, and came to a conclusion. Macaque's episode has a fuck ton of things to analyze. Such as - Not every role model you meet will be a good person Trust your teachers Don't push yourself too hard otherwise you'll get hurt, manipulated and possibly die (let's be real, Macaque would've killed MK if Wukong didn't step in) And, grooming They will all be covered as I explain the episode in depth. When MK first meets Macaque he thought he was Wukong but even after Macaque declines, MK still had stars in his eyes of pure admiration. He clearly looks up to Macaque since he was just as cool if not cooler than Monkey King. Within the very next second Macaque started the process of grooming, after a tiny test to see how strong MK's admiration was. "[...] I thought uh Monkey King was training you. [...] but you can never have too many teachers, I'm sure Monkey King would agree. [...]"
Then Macaque starts to train MK. This shows the duality of Wukong's more MK's current strength and capabilities training versus Macaque's more destructive and dehumanizing training. With Wukong's "Patience and focus, step into the strike", clashing with Macaque's far more brash "You don't use a weapon, you ARE the weapon." This is effective at isolating MK from Wukong and his teachings because MK feels like he is actually powerful now.
As Wukong says, MK's body isn't strong enough to handle the power. This applies to real life too. If someone tries to weight lift something too heavy for their skills, they could get seriously hurt. This is the just magical equivalent of weight lifting. But because of Macaque's influence, MK fights back and isolates himself from Wukong, his trust worthy mentor. This leads Macaque to his final part of his plan, lure MK into a trap with his full hearted trust in him.
Then Macaque finishes his plan by stealing MK's powers. Let's be honest, with how things were going and by our impression of Macaque in this episode, Macaque would have likely killed MK if it weren't for Wukong. OR left MK to die with the staff pressing him against the moutain. What can we gather from this? Well, first and foremost, MK's admiration made him an easy target for manipulation, and what resulted was MK nearly dying from the ordeal. Check for "not ever role model will be a good person", since Wukong is ALSO a role model, but a good one because he doesn't literally groom MK. (More on that in a minute.) Wukong was right and MK does what he taught him then admits his wrongs by the end and opens up on why, which Wukong responds with "Hey, your heart is in the right place, kid. We can work on the rest." MK learned to trust Wukong when he was teaching him something because ultimately that's what saved his life. I'm not saying trust EVERY authority figure, but one that is teaching you something that you trust and know will not hurt you. Get yourself a Wukong for your MK. Macaque's training has lasting impact on MK, making him feel like he needs to give himself up for others. Before this episode, MK never had the need to sacrifice himself or really seemingly blamed himself for anything. Macaque's dehumanizing training left MK with lasting damage to his mental health and also led to MK not being able to pick up the staff, granted that was after Macaque gut-punched the power out of him.
Ouch...
So, I hear you ask, "Ok, you made your point about various things, here but what about grooming? That's a bold word." Yes, it IS a bold word, especially considering the fandom space being primarily for children. However, I will clarify that grooming does not only apply to sexual circumstances.
This is from the official Canada public safety about child grooming. Notice the none sexual tactics.
"Make promises of a better life" - Promises to make MK stronger/a better fighter/hero
"Cause divsion saying "your parents are too strict" or "your parents don't understand you"." - Macaque says "Other people are going to tell you to be patient. They are slowing you down." to directly conflict with Wukong's training, further dividing MK and Wukong.
"May threaten or pressure your child to do what they ask, which could lead to sextortion." - Might not be explicit but it is implied MK had some minor doubts by the end of the training and was literally pushed into battle. Also he threw MK into the weapons rack on their first session, showing that MK was "weak" and prompted him to take up his implicit challenge, his trick. It's unclear if Macaque ever threatened MK while training, but I doubt it and he just pressured him and manipulated his drive and determination.
One that people might argue is "Approach your child online by pretending to be someone they're not - may falsely identify themselves as a person from school, or someone their age, to build a connection." but I believe it applies. - Macaque comes in creating a show with his own kaiju form, either to make himself popular or to attract MK or Wukong. Regardless, he seemed uncomfortable at first but once he prompts up "But you can never have too many teachers", that's when he starts creating a false identity, a trustworthy teacher who knows better than Wukong. That's also neglecting the fact Macaque pretended to not be that smoke demon.
If that's not "pretending to be someone they're not", then I'm not sure what is. Also for specifically adult grooming,
More signs I feel apply are;
"The person becomes withdrawn, or they may seem troubled by something but unwilling to talk about it. Alternatively their emotions might become volatile." - When Wukong points out MK has been running around other mentors, MK sounds calm and cold, like he was withdrawn. Then when Wukong presses on, MK yells at him and doesn't talk about exactly what was bothering him other than "You just don't like that there's someone who actually teaching me what I need to know."
"You notice them using or wearing something new, that you didn't buy [or teach] for them." - I added teach because Wukong points out he never taught MK how to break a wall like that, and was concerned and upset that MK learned that too quickly. Within that same scene, after MK yells at him, that's when Wukong notices the new symbol on MK's jacket and frowns. That's when he knows MK is being groomed, and by who.
"Groomers often aim to isolate their targets from their family or friends." - Well, we never see Mei, Pigsy, Tang, or Sandy in this episode, after the first meeting and they act like MK was gone for a month or more (could easily be a week lol). On top of that, Macaque was causing a divide between MK and Wukong. MK was very clearly pretty isolated already, and so Macaque just had to remove MK for MK's full reliance.
"The person might be spending more time on the phone, or online, than usual. But they won’t say what sites they’re visiting, or who they’re talking to." - This speaks for itself, but it's likely MK was training more and more with Macaque than being around his own friends, especially considering by previous point.
youtube
This video goes into great detail on how it happens, why the victim is manipulated easily, and what it does to someone. Granted this video is about a long-time grooming, but I believe the point and the awareness stands. If Macaque had been grooming MK for about a year or more, I feel MK would be closer to these signs than he is in the cannon LMK. Anyways! I hope you had fun with my analysis, and let me know if you'd like more! I love to just ramble about the psychology of certain characters or the takeaways of LMK episodes! I'd love to do Wukong, Macaque as a whole (not just the episode), MK, Xiangliu/Nine mayhaps?? Or even the Focus episode or something else- I have a minor analysis on the focus episode already in my head lol

Ta-daaa... Please don't freak out...
I've been working on this for way too long in-between assignments during graphic design class!
Anywho, Macaque said something in season 5 that really caught my attention: MK has all of Wukong's powers. ...but none of his own?
So here are some Red Son clones! Perhaps everyone becoming guardians and becoming magical changed MK's powers, or he just unlocked it, but this hypothetical power is that he can make friend clones! Specifically they're hair clones of other people, but he has to know that person well enough to be able to clone them.
Friend clones take more energy to create than regular hair clones. This is because they have a basic version of the other person's magic, and MK has to put all of his energy into replicating someone else's magic; because of this extra energy, they're a little more durable than regular clones (but they poof after using too much magic).
Their magic isn't as strong as the person's, it's only what MK thinks of when he thinks of their magic (these Red Sons might only be able to create some decent-sized flames and light their hair on fire—no flaming punches here), but it's still useful! Anything MK thinks they might be able to do is technically in the cards, if he has enough energy to lend them!
Friend clones also go crazy if they exist too long like regular clones, but instead of obsessing over the task MK gave them, they over-represent a trait MK sees in that person! For example with Red Son here, we have the Manic Inventor, the Stuck Up Rich Boy, and the Family Lover!

As you can imagine, this wouldn't always blow over well—think the ending of Calabash but way worse—which is why friend clones are a Drastic Measures Only type of power. I imagine some people might find the traits MK associates with them sweet, though.
Anyway, that's all!! Thanks!

(Y/N) : Yeah but I’m the funny one right?
JADE : By the gods…
(Y/N) : You’re cute when you get all fiery.
JADE : I am not nor will I ever be interested,
(Y/N) : Are you Outworld women conceited? I was trynna be all girl power and compliment you.
(Y/N) : 50 bucks says I beat you.
RAIDEN : I do not wager money.
(Y/N) : If you’re broke just say that.
(Y/N) : Come on, Raiden! Hook me up with Fujin.
RAIDEN : I will not play matchmaker with my brother.
(Y/N) : So you’re broke and not a matchmaker? What are you good for?
LIU KANG : Are you ready for training?
(Y/N) : Not if Kung Lao isn’t here.
LIU KANG : You know you’re the only person to utter that.
(Y/N) : Double or nothing!
LIU KANG : *laughs* I have already beaten you twenty times, (Y/N).
(Y/N) : So??? I will be the last one standing!
(Y/N) : Is it hot in here or is it just you?
LIU KANG : Didn’t you use that line on Scorpion?
(Y/N) : Give me a break. I can’t keep track of everything I said.
(Y/N) : Do your bicycle kick into Shao Kahn. He won’t leave me alone.
LIU KANG : I pity that you have to deal with that.
(Y/N) : The chosen one pities me? I must be dead meat.
(Y/N) : I’m not the bad guy anymore, Sonya.
SONYA BLADE : You were with Kano. Bad guy still stands with you.
(Y/N) : Yeesh. If you want to fuck him, go ahead.
(Y/N) : *shape shifted into Sonya but with Kano’s voice* ‘Ello baby, did you miss me?
SONYA BLADE : That’s not funny.
(Y/N) : *back to normal* Don’t be jealous cuz you can’t do the voice.
KUNG LAO : How come you haven’t trained with me?
(Y/N) : I’m scared I’ll hurt you.
KUNG LAO : Oh, sweetheart. That’s just not possible.
KUNG LAO : You dated Kano?!
(Y/N) : Are you judging me, Lao?
KUNG LAO : I just didn’t know your type was losers.
KUNG LAO : It seems like all the men want you.
(Y/N) : I know right? I’m a total catch.
KUNG LAO : None are better than me.
(Y/N) : You know the Darth Vader thing you got going on is kinda hot.
NOOB SAIBOT : I will bring you to death.
(Y/N) : Okay on second thought….
NOOB SAIBOT : Your fighting is impressive for an Earthrealm woman.
(Y/N) : Why thank you dark shadow thing.
NOOB SAIBOT : That doesn’t mean you can beat me.
(Y/N) : Come on, Bi-Han. We were buddies, remember?
NOOB SAIBOT : I tolerated you. I do not like you.
(Y/N) : We’ll that’s just hurtful.
(Y/N) : Come on. Say it. Just once.
KANO : *sighs* Throw a shrimp on the Barbie.
(Y/N) : Aww. You do still love me.
KANO : That bloke still hitting on you?
(Y/N) : You know how many men I have lined up? You’re going to have to be more specific.
KANO : The one with the stupid hat.
KANO : Your last chance to come back to me.
(Y/N) : I’d rather be with Shao Kahn than you.
KANO : You got yourself a death wish.
MILEENA : Come dance with me.
(Y/N) : How about no?
MILEENA : Then I’ll make you.
(Y/N) : I’m kinda into the whole vampire thing.
SKARLET : I am no vampire you mistake.
(Y/N) : Ouch. That wasn’t even necessary.
JOHNNY CAGE : You and me would make the hottest couple in Hollywood.
(Y/N) : I’d rather die than be caught dating a white American man.
JOHNNY CAGE : Death over dating me? Seriously?
(Y/N) : Now that I think about it, Takeda is kinda cute.
JACQUI BRIGGS : Don’t even (Y/N).
(Y/N) : What? I said I was thinking it.
JACQUI BRIGGS : Don’t say it…
(Y/N) : Okay I won’t….your dad’s kinda hot -
JACQUI BRIGGS : Stop it!
(Y/N) : To what do I owe this displeasure?
D’VORAH : The Kahn wants you. Alive.
(Y/N) : The Kahn will be disappointed then.
(Y/N) : *shape shifted into Shang Tsung* Your soul is mine!
SHANG TSUNG : I sound nothing like that!
(Y/N) : *back to normal* Sure you don’t…
SINDEL : You are too weak for Shao Kahn.
(Y/N) : And yet…he wants me more than you.
SINDEL : A fatal mistake he has made.
KITANA : Tell Kung Lao I am not interested.
(Y/N) : Because you’re going to admit your undying love for me right?
KITANA : *laughs* You amuse me, (Y/N).
CASSIE CAGE : So do you like girls or boys?
(Y/N) : I like whatever looks good.
CASSIE CAGE : That is such a ‘you’ answer.
CASSIE CAGE : Come on, admit it. You like him a little.
(Y/N) : He keeps sending human hearts at my door. No!
CASSIE CAGE : Who knew Shao Kahn was a romantic?
(Y/N) : You know you want me.
JAX BRIGGS : Tuh. Not exactly my type.
(Y/N) : What I gotta do? Get a cheap blonde wig?
KABAL : Fighting me won’t make you gain all my moves.
(Y/N) : That is literally how it works.
KABAL : Ah shit.
SHAO KAHN : I will kill all my concubines just to have you.
(Y/N) : Why doesn’t anyone normal want me?
SHAO KAHN : You did not deny me.
SHAO KAHN : Earthrealm is wasting your power.
(Y/N) : Let me guess, you have better use for it?
SHAO KAHN : More than you know.
(Y/N) : Tell your scream queen wife to leave me alone.
SHAO KAHN : Her jealousy is its own weapon.
(Y/N) : How the hell did the tyrant want me?!
(Y/N) : Stop sending me human hearts in a box. It’s weird.
SHAO KAHN : What would you like for me to do?
(Y/N) : Not send me human hearts???
(Y/N) : How come you’re not my mentor and Raiden is?
FUJIN : Because we wouldn’t be able to go through one lesson without you flirting.
(Y/N) : I can’t help it if you’re hot.
(Y/N) : I’m ready to be blown away Fujin. Get it? Because you control the wind. And stuff…
FUJIN : Yes, (Y/N). I get it.
(Y/N) : Good. Let’s tussle.
(Y/N) : 50 bucks says I beat you.
FUJIN : Are you sure you want to lose all your money?
(Y/N) : Oh you think you’re the funny one here?
FUJIN : Ignore Shao Kahn’s advances, (Y/N).
(Y/N) : You say that like I’ve been hanging around with him.
FUJIN : After finding out about Sindel, I don’t know what to expect.
FUJIN : Your power is most impressive.
(Y/N) : *giggling* I take that like you’re flirting with me.
FUJIN : You take everything I say as me flirting with you.
NIGHTWOLF : You are a powerful warrior, (Y/N).
(Y/N) : *giggling* You make me blush, Nightwolf.
NIGHTWOLF : Show me what you can do.
(Y/N) : If your name isn’t Nightwolf then what is it?
NIGHTWOLF : I will never hear the end of it if I tell you.
(Y/N) : Aw. Don’t be shy, Nighty.
OTHER INTROS MENTIONING YOU
LIU KANG : (Y/N) says she likes you better than me.
KUNG LAO : Smart and beautiful. What doesn’t she have?
LIU KANG : The sense to realize I am the better one.
SHAO KAHN : I will have (Y/N) and take over Earthrealm.
KUNG LAO : Tuh. Don’t think you’re her type.
SHAO KAHN : Says the one who gets rejected for Liu Kang.
LIU KANG : You know…(Y/N) doesn’t seem like your type.
KANO : She wasn’t personality wise but body wise she was.
LIU KANG : You are truly insufferable, Kano.
SINDEL : That pretender has gotten under your skin.
SHAO KAHN : I don’t need you of all people to tell me that.
SINDEL : That rat will die where she stands.
SCORPION : Your ex will not stop showing her affections for me.
KANO : She’ll fuck anything with a pulse.
SCORPION : She dated you. I expect that.
RAIDEN : (Y/N), keeps asking about you.
FUJIN : Really? What has she said?
RAIDEN : Do not fall for a mortal, brother.
JOHNNY CAGE : We all know you wanna bone (Y/N), dude.
NIGHTWOLF : I can’t tell if you’re (Y/N) impersonating Cage or if that’s really you.
JOHNNY CAGE : Really? We act that much alike?
JADE : How are you friends with (Y/N)?
KITANA : She’s not as bad as you think she is, Jade.
JADE : I highly doubt that.
FUJIN : Stay away from, (Y/N).
SHAO KAHN : I am not threatened by an air bender.
FUJIN : You should be.
SONYA BLADE : (Y/N) is not your friend, Cassie.
CASSIE CAGE : Can’t you put your beef in the past? She’s cool.
SONYA BLADE : Once a black dragon, always a black dragon.
TOWER ENDING
I’m pretty much a badass so it was expected that I was the one to defeat Kronika. There was one thing I wasn’t sure about. The hourglass.
Changing history would mean the relationships I’ve made along the way would be forgotten. And I would go back to being the evil bitch in the Black Dragon.
In the new timeline, I made it exactly how it should be. Liu Kang and Kung Lao heroes. Shang Tsung, Shao Kahn, and the others casted away like they never existed.
Everything was supposed to be peaceful.
I started to feel a newfound boredom. Because there was no chaos and I made everything perfect, there was nothing. Absolutely nothing.
The people I’ve once cared about had no recollection of me and I didn’t know what to be. The only reason why I was one of the good guys was because of the people that were near and dear to my heart.
So I did what I do best, I played the bad guy.
And damn does it feel good to be the bad guy again.

Lmk au idea.
Wukong isn't MK's teacher. At least, not in the same way he is in the show.
In this idea I had randomly pop into my head I'm thinking that Wukong had gone above and beyond simply vanishing for 500 years and hiding out on FFM. He straight up changed his identity and went into hiding as a mortal. He says fuck off to being a demon god, fuck off to all the gods and celestials and all his titles. He retires, fully and completely, passing his crown off to his Stalwarts and just becomes a wanderer traveling around, doing odd jobs and never staying in one place too long.
At some point over the centuries he ends up back in the village that he left his staff in, or rather, whay it became. A sprawling metropolis of a city that a person trying to disappear can easily do so. He set up shop, having had many hats over the years he's able to easily pick up a humble job nobody would blink twice at. Mechanics are always sorely needed in large cities after all.
One day at his shop a hauntingly familiar fave appears at his doorstep. Pigsy's truck had broken down while he was out with baby MK on a supply run and Wukong's shop had been the closest mechanic they could find. Wukong could sense something was special about MK, but not what or why and after he fixed up the truck he spent the next hour or so reminding himself that he is not Sun Wukong anymore, he is not part of that life anymore. Unfortunately, or fortunately, Wukong's mechanic work was something Pigsy liked, a lot. The truck was running smoother than if ever did before and the price was a steal! Wukong quickly became the favorite mechanic shop for Pigsy's Noodles and MK began to show up more often at the mechanic shop (he crashed a lot of stuff ok). Wukong ends up becoming the cool mechanic dude who helped teach MK how to mod his hoverboard and would often drop cryptic but helpful advice to the kid, Wukong having settled with the idea that he can look after the kid at least since it doesn't look like Zu Baijie's decendant or the kid were going to go away anytime soon. This led to meeting Tang and Mei, which were... experiences. And Wukong just ends up being a family friend to the Noodle Gang who likes cold vegetarian noodles.
Then a Hero is Born happens. Wukong hadn't been there for that experience. He was "on a supply run" when DBK was freed, he was in a different town entirely. So he wasnt physically present when MK became the Monkie Kid. It doesn't mean he wasn't completely uninvolved, though. Wukong isn't stupid, he knows DBK would eventually be freed, and he also knew it was possible someone else would pick up his staff. Afterall the staff had chosen him, not the other way around. It isn't unfeasable to imagine it'd pick another now that it's owner has put it down. Plus it isn't entirely impossible to imagine whoever it is would seek him out, he was the last known person to wield the Ruyi Jingu Bang after all.
He left a series of visions and astral projected recordings in his cave. The first being triggered should anyone breach his cave, the vision MK first sees when he enters Water Curtain Cave, only it doesn't stop at Wukong just running off. The projection speaks.
Wukong's recording. Looking as laid back and amused as can be: If you're seeing this, congrats! You got past my unstoppable barrier! Unfortunately I'm afraid that you won't be able to find me, as I would have been long gone from this place and am retired! So if your here for an autograph I'm afraid I'll have to ask you to leave.
MK: WHAT!?
Wukong's recording, becoming serious and almost sad: If you are a friend, however. I want to say I'm sorry, but please don't go seeking me out. I am hanging up my crown and title as the Great Sage and the Monkey King, and I don't not wish to be disturbed. Over the centuries I've come to realize my whole life I've done nothing but hurt the people I care about, so... for everyone's sake... I'm disappearing so that I can't hurt anyone again. Ever. And if you find my staff, I'm sorry I can't be there to help you. But I'll give you a piece of advice I learned, believe in yourself. Even just a smidge can make all the difference.
MK is gobsmacked at the thought that Sun Wukong had just up and left like that, that he's been gone for a long time and won't be able to help. He decides if Wukong wasn't there to be a hero anymore, he'd do it for him. Just a smidge makes a difference, right?
And so the Monkie Kid becomes the Monkie Kid. Over the next season or so he struggles a lot with his powers, not having a proper mentor. See, unlike the rest of the Noodle Gang, since Wukong wasn't physically present when MK became the town hero he isn't ever explicitly told it's MK. MK literally just forgets to mention it to him, but he does his best to help where he can. Giving advice where he can.
Most everything else was done without his input, altho MK did find it weird that the Calabash seemed to think his mechanic friend was the Monkey King. It's the first hint he ever has that Wukong was not as he seemed, but he write it off as him simply thinking of Wukong as a mentor figure since he's always been supportive and gave helpful advice and the Calabash substituting the Monkey King for Wukong.
Even the Macaque episode was done mostly without his input, altho a certain black furred monkey was not happy that his attempt to lure Wukong out didn't work at all. Wukong had been busy with renovations to expand the shop at the time, thus where the "step into the strike" advice came from since MK had been helping Wukong with tearing down the wall.
The big reveal about Wukong being the Monkey King only happens during Revenge of the Spider Queen, when Wukong has no choice but to step in as the Monkey King. And believe me, he is absolutely not happy about the matter. He doesn't run away once everything is done and over, but it's very clear that he is upset by the way he avoids everyone and jsut sits curled up on the rooftop. When asked why he never told them, especially knowing MK was using his staff, he first points out MK had never explicitly told him about the whole Monkie Kid business so he had no reason to "know" anything about it. Then he jsut points to the destroyed city.
Wukong: This is what happens everytime the Monkey King appears. Destruction, death, and chaos. I didn't want to be that anymore.
This spun off from a convo on how Wukong likely felt abandoned by his mentor(s), beginning with Subodhi, the allies he made in Heaven before the war, Guanyin, and even Tripitaka when the monk passed.
Wukong, going by just "Wu", drifting along the centuries living a mortal life. Packs up and leaves whenever conflict or war breaks out, or when people start to get suspicious.
His number one rule? Never get attached. Never again...
He becomes a mechanic (a real "grease monkey" if you will). Although he loves medicine and herbalism, it simply has too many paper trails. Also cars are fun to tinker with and don't talk back most of the time. Less likely to make a connection.
He eventually returns to the village where he lay his Staff down for good. Just seemed right coming up to the 500 year anniversary of one of his biggest regrets. The village has since become a sprawling mega-city, open to humans and demons alike. There he plants his roots.
The biggest shock of his life comes when he sees his brothers faces and souls all over again. Three in new bodies, and one in the same. A certain fish demon had pretended he didnt recognise him, and Wu returned the courtesy - seems he wasn't the only one from the old days to retire.
He wonders if it was the right decision to settle in Megapolis...
Until the day Pigsy knocks on Wu's shop, breathless and carrying a wiggly baby human (?). His food truck had given up the ghost and the cook desperately needed repairs asap! Wu simply couldn't turn him away.
Through the conversation and the repair process, the wiggly baby maybe-human had stared at the monkey demon with absolute wonder. Wu isn't sure why until he overhears the cub blabble something into his father's ear.
MK: "Mon-ken." Pigsy, fond sigh: "No MK, that's not the Monkey King. He just looks like the drawing in your Baba's book." Wu, nearly drops the truck on himself: "Eh?" Pigsy, little embarassed: "Oh! Sorry. The piglet is convinced that you're the Monkey King. My partner researches mythology and stuff, and he fills the kid's head with all sorts of ideas." Wu, rolls out from under the truck with a cheeky smile: "It's no problem. You'd be surprised how often I get mistaken for him! Think its the fur." (*Wu shares a glance at MK, the baby human is still staring at him unconvinced. Wukong makes a unsubtle shush motion and winks - causing the little human to wiggle once more with joy. Pigsy sighs fondly once more, knowing that the boy will most definitely hold this moment dear throughout his childhood*)
With that one chance meeting, Wukong breaks his number one rule; Never get attached.
It's not his fault he fixed the truck so good that Pigsy became a loyal customer! And the pig demon began tipping him with free cold vegetarian noodles. And that the scholar at the shop and him started info-dumping together! And that the little human began seeing him as a beloved uncle...
Oh yeah. Wu is in too deep. Hopefully nothing too chaotic happens within the next few years or so >:3
You can say a certain monkey demon nearly had a heart attack when he learned that someone had finally taken up his Staff - and that it was his little buddy!! Also Sandy is back in the gang, so they can't pretend that they dont know each other for long.
Wu would *like* to step up and reveal himself as the Monkey King to MK - but he feels that would just make things so much worse. The kid's trust in him would shatter immediately. So it's better to leave his projections on FFM to do the physical training, and for Uncle Wu to provide him with much-needed emotional guidance.
Sharing this dm you sent in particular based on the "Macaque" episode cus it's a tasty piece of dialogue:
MK: "Is it really better to focus your power into every attack?" Wu: "Hm, that's a lonely way of thinking. And dangerous. Look at this hammer I use for example, it's strong but if I'm not careful an just bang away at metal, it'd hit hard but it'd cause more damage to myself and the people around me. But if I were to... step into the swing so to speak and not depend on the hammer but rather my own strength, it's easier to control and has less risk of hurting myself."
He had been doing renovations on the wall to expand his business at the time, thus why he was banging at the wall with a hammer.
Eventually the episode ends with Macaque calling desperately out to the battlefield - almost begging for his king to reappear. The shadow monkey is so occupied in his despair and anger that MK manages to slip free and reclaim his power.
MK promptly bullies Macaque into actually mentoring him. Macaque chuckles at the nerve of this kid, and agrees - but only as a truce until Wukong returns. After that, Macaque expects a rematch.
Unironically loving this AU

I have a request/idea for a thing:
What if the Reader has a mutual pining situation going on with one of the meaner MK kharacters (I’d say Bi-Han, Shang Tsung, Reiko, or Quan Chi would be good for this—whoever you want, honestly!) but neither person has the guts to say anything, until FINALLY the MK kharacter just can’t handle it anymore and practically breaks down the Reader’s door in order to confess. Then sex happens.
Pining not Pinning!
Yip notes: You know damn well I was gonna pick Reiko. That’s my scary man right there. My fiancé is so mean to him tho. Also I tried but I think I suck with that romance trope.
Pairing: Reiko x Afab reader
Warnings‼️: NSFW, biting, perhaps a bit of masochism there is some pain, vaginal sex
General Shao needs the best of the best. Reiko is one of his best soldiers, he didn’t become lieutenant by doing nothing. Reiko knows that he is on top. He basks in the glory of being Outworld’s finest soldier. But will he play nicely with someone who is just as great as him?
Well, maybe, that is for you to decide. You are the next best thing for Outworld, General Shao will tell you that. That means Reiko has his eyes on you in more ways than one.
══💤══╡°˖✧🦊✧˖°╞══💤══
There have only been two instances where a woman has left the Umgadi. Those ladies would be Li Mei and you. Of course, you left not out of shame or to avoid punishment. You left because you didn’t want to protect the royal house. You wanted to protect all of Outworld. That’s why you joined General Shao’s army. He was more than happy to accept you in, seeing that you had the skills of a warrior. He also found your desire to protect all of Outworld commendable.
You quickly rose in rankings and earned yourself recognition. A female in the army who is beating upcoming soldiers? How could the people of Outworld not talk about you! And they talk and talk and spew many thoughts about you possibly overpowering a certain lieutenant who constantly wears war paint. You know damn well who they are talking about and he has heard.
All that talk led the lieutenant to you, huffing and puffing like a mad bull. Reiko knew you joined the army but he never expected you to rise in rankings so quickly. The idea of anyone being better than him doesn’t work in his mind. Which is why you two had to spar.
“What?” You questioned the general.
“Reiko has requested to fight you since you have been surpassing everyone else.”
Speak of the devil here comes the bastard. You could see he was mean mugging you even from a distance. The closer he got the more you saw the fury that swirled in his eyes. Your eyes shifted between General Shao and Reiko. Each glance at Shao sent a message that said “Are you fucking with me?” because what made him think springing this on you was smart.
Once Reiko was next to you, he started sizing you up. Have you ever seen a snake examining its food before eating it? It’s just like that except Reiko won’t bite your head off, hopefully. Shao luckily pushed Reiko away from you since that display of aggression was embarrassing. He commanded you to get ready to spar. The other soldiers shall be watching and learning.
“I knew you joined our numbers, but I never would have imagined that you were capable of being a true warrior.” He taunted you.
“I’m full of surprises. You seem to be the same way since I’m surprised you want to fight me so badly.”
“Why? Are you afraid to lose to me?”
“Not really, I’m just worried you have a few loose screws.”
Alright enough chit-chat about how he is fuckin unstable. Put your fist up and show him a good fight. A good fight is like good sex to him.
FIGHT!
══💤══╡°˖✧🦊✧˖°╞══💤══
Punches, kicks, left hook, right hook, haymakers, suplexes, piledrivers, me oh my I think I heard something crack!
How y’all two doin, alright? No? Oh I bet. You two look awful. You got drool dribbling down your chin and his rat tail manbun is messy. Both of you need to take care of your hands because your knuckles are torn up. Don’t forget to remove the shuriken stuck to your ass. Your back hurts, huh? Yeah, that won’t be the last time Reiko breaks your back—HUH?!?
General Shao had to pull you two apart the second he saw blood dripping onto the floor. He can’t have his best soldier out of commission. You took a few seconds to catch your breath and wipe the sweat from your forehead. Just as you expected, Reiko would be a tough battle. You knew he’d leave you breathless and a sweaty, drooling mess.
You decided to be a good sport and accept that this fight was a tie. You held your hand out for him to shake.
“You put up a good fight, Reiko. It was an honor to figh—”
He walked away without saying a word. You were left stunned with your hand still out. With the way Reiko was stomping away, you could tell he was all huffy. Well shit, the one guy you admire and have the hots for probably hates you now. Fuck!
Ah, but you got it all wrong. You turned that man on so much that he had to walk away from you. I told you a good fight is like good sex to that man.
══💤══╡°˖✧🦊✧˖°╞══💤══
Now begins an endless tango of confusing emotions and miscommunication.
From that day on you fully believed that Reiko hated you. Everyone believed that after his hissy fit of an exit. If anyone tried to discuss the fight or you in his presence, he shut that down immediately. Nobody could even speak your name around him because he’d get agitated. That’s the last thing anybody needs him to be before training starts.
You did your best to make amends even though you didn’t start the fight. You made an effort to get closer to him by doing little things like asking for help with training or cheering him on. And it worked…and it didn’t work at the same time.
He’s back and forth with his acceptance of you.
The truth is…Reiko is a dumbass. He’s a clueless fool when it comes to emotions and no one can blame him. He was raised to only think about fighting. So when a strange emotion such as love, which is already a confusing emotion, is felt inside a man who thinks love is felt when he kills someone it’s no surprise that it’s incomprehensible.
You on the other hand knew you liked Reiko. You’ve known for a long time. What wasn’t there to like about him? Sure, he could be a little scary and very rough. But he was a remarkable fighter, taking hits like they were nothing. He fought for all of Outworld and wanted the best for it. You always found that honorable and looked up to him. All that admiration slowly spiraled into a crush that grew the more you saw him. Soon those sky-blue eyes that could be as light as milky white didn’t strike fear into your soul. You started to become thankful that he wore that overly exposing uniform. It’s got you fanning yourself. You ain’t the only one feeling hot.
Reiko had no clue why he got so hot with you around. His cheeks grew warm but not warm enough to bring color to his cheeks. Even if some color blossomed in his cheeks, his war paint would hide it. He got so twitchy too when he’d watch you fight. He’d rub the back of his neck or itch his arm even though he wasn’t itchy. He didn’t know what to do with his body.
The one thing you caught onto was his gaze. It was intense and his eyes followed your every move. When you’d accidentally make eye contact it felt like you were staring at each other for minutes, hours even. Nothing would be said but some part of Reiko hoped that his eye contact would tell you how he felt even if he didn’t know it himself. You’d look away the moment your face started to burn as you grew flustered. But your mind couldn’t believe that. You thought he hated you. So instead, you told yourself you were getting so scared that you grew embarrassed from being scared of him. That doesn’t make sense but you couldn’t make sense of anything.
Some of your Umgadi sisters who you still talked to had encouraged you to tell him how you felt. You didn’t have the same obligations you had before, maybe the army isn’t so strict when it comes to their soldiers being in a relationship. Oh, and they gave you the usual “the worst he can say is no” bullshit.
The least he can say is no. The worst he can say or do is laugh at you and call you pathetic. Or he might slap you in the face thinking you’re crazy for having a crush on him. OR he could tell General Shao what you confessed, and you might be kicked out of the army due to an “inappropriate” relationship with someone higher up.
No, fuck that! You’ll die with this crush of yours under lock and key and shoved in your heart. You can’t risk anything, especially since you believe Reiko hates you. The thought of him rejecting you or making fun of you breaks your tough heart. You’ve never liked or admired a man so much before and you’d like to at least be near him.
So go ahead, scream into your pillows, and wrap yourself in blankets while yelling how it’s just not fair. Why did you have to love a man who hates your guts?!
And now stop all that noise because you don’t know the truth.
You consumed his mind, clouding his ability to think straight. He tried to use that as a reason to hate you but he couldn’t. He couldn’t hate your strength and dedication. He couldn’t hate that smile you would sometimes crack when another soldier did something stupid or silly. He couldn’t hate how your eyes, no matter the color, let the sunlight illuminate them beautifully. He couldn’t hate how perfect you were in his eyes. You were someone he wanted.
But Reiko couldn’t just say it out loud randomly. Remember, he has no idea how love works. Did he actually like you or was his body just being hormonal? Was he just being a horny pervert even though he is way past that stage in life where random things would make him hard? He would never forgive himself if that were the case. Being in love might be less embarrassing.
There were only two people Reiko was willing to talk about this with: General Shao and…Rain? Yeah, Rain can be a strange choice but who else other than Shao could Reiko talk to?
He started going to Rain about those strange feelings and observations he was making. He treated the High Mage like a therapist and Rain wanted to throw a book at him. The conversations only helped, or in Reiko’s eyes made things worse, because he realized more and more how much liked you. The conversations would go like this.
“She looked amazing today during training. She barely broke a sweat even after facing ten of my men.”
“Wow, that’s impressive.” Rain would say sarcastically while flipping through a spell book.
“…her grunts made me feel something…I wanted to hear her gasp more.”
“…”
“…”
“Do you see this scepter in my hand, Reiko? Okay, now ignore it as it’s coming towards you.” Rain would lift his scepter and use it like a baseball bat to tell Reiko to get the fuck out of his room! Three out of five times he would. But at least he was the one to tell Reiko that he was simply just a man in love. Good! So not a pervert…maybe.
Shao was really no help. Rain did more by just sitting there. Shao was quick to shut Reiko down when it came to his feelings. He saw how his second-in-command was getting distracted more because of you. He would kick you out of the army if you weren’t such a useful asset. He was forced to steer him away from you. He knew Reiko would listen to him without hesitation.
So he started messing with him. Shao told him this was all a trick. Your nice attitude was meant to throw him off his rhythm so you could surpass him. Soon, all the soldiers would be listening to you instead of him. It worked a little. Reiko would get agitated again and push himself to train harder, be better. Oh but you would somehow fight your way into his heart by being a sweetie only towards him or by actually fighting him. And then he goes back to that dazed state where his mind is on you and he stares at you till you shiver.
Then Shao lied straight to his face. He wanted Reiko to think you hated him. He went on and on about how you must hate him because Reiko wanted to fight you for no reason. He disrespected you by fighting you even though that was an honor to you. Because Reiko was still so clueless about how love worked, he believed the general. He is much older and is supposed to be wiser, what he says must be true. But if that were the case why would you want to be near him? Why would you come to him for help if you believed he disrespected you? Nice try Shao, you failed again. Your lieutenant is loyal, not braindead.
He gave up. Shao didn’t try to hide that he didn’t want Reiko getting close to you. You two already had a connection going without knowing. All that was left to do was to have someone confess. But Shao said no. Even now, yes now, Shao was telling Reiko not to pursue you.
After training one day Shao takes Reiko to his office to command him to stop. Stop his feelings for you and be the soldier he was before you joined. There will be no argument about it.
“I don’t want you getting close to her, Reiko. Don’t make me regret letting her join my army.” Shao growls.
Reiko listens to Shao, he always listens. If General Shao tells him not to pursue you, even though he is starting to lose it a little, he won’t pursue you. He will continue his night like he usually does.
He lets down his hair from its bun before he washes away the day’s stress. The warm water cleanses him of sweat and war paint while relaxing his tired muscles. His hands travel down to scrub the soap against his body and his mind begins to wander. He wants to be close to you. He wants to feel your skin against his again. He wants to hear you pant and groan without the need to start a fight.
The shower grows steamier and his body grows hotter. Was it the water or his mind doing that, who’s to say? Oh but that mind of his truly can’t be contained because he starts to wonder what it would be like to have you with him in the shower. To see the water drip down your body and to watch the soap flow down every curve on you. What would you two do in there? The possibilities are endless. Would you be shy and have your back to him? That’s not a bad outcome, it would just mean a surprise for you. Or would you be looking at him the whole time, letting your eyes tell him what you want? If so, it wouldn’t be a surprise if you kept looking at him as you kneel before him. You would look him right in his eyes as your hands, deadly yet so soft, start to stroke his hard cock as your tongue begins to—
Woah! Yeah, Reiko is painfully hard. He has only himself to blame yet he will pin this on you. He has to wait for it to go down while he bangs his head softly against the shower walls. Once it’s soft, or at least semi-hard, he wraps a towel around his waist and tries to wipe the smeared war paint off with another towel. Don’t think that stuff comes off easily it is made to last through the day.
Reiko keeps wiping the black paint off as he walks through the halls of the barracks. As he starts to think that he has his emotions and desires under control—HE JUST CAN’T TAKE IT ANYMORE! The confusion! The eyes of other soldiers! The fact that everyone is telling him not to say anything to you BECAUSE THEY HAVE SO LITTLE FAITH IN HIM AND ARE TRYING TO TRICK HIM!
That does it! He throws down the towel in the middle of the hallways before turning on his heels and walking towards your room. The war paint was not fully off so it looked like he lightly used a black eyeliner pencil around his eyes. It was hot you’ll see in a second.
Reiko wastes no time on knocking or even turning the doorknob to your room. You had only five seconds before your door was kicked in. In those five seconds you heard quick wet footsteps up to your door almost like someone literally stepped out of the shower and walked to your room. It started off light then grew heavy before a BAM.
You’re in the middle of doing your skincare routine because screw letting your pores be clogged with sweat and dirt. You see in the reflection of the mirror to see Reiko standing in the doorway. Your mouth falls open from the shock of the door being kicked open to being even more shocked that he has only a towel wrapped around his waist. He’s huffing as he slams the door shut behind him before making his way towards you and only then do you react. You turn around and try to keep your distance because you have no idea what he is mad about now. Did General Shao talk about you? Did someone taunt him? Did it even have anything to do with you?? You had no clue.
“W-wait! What?! What did I do now?” You whine as you leap onto your bed with the idea of using it as a barrier between you two.
It fails because he is quick to move to the other side of your bed. You are so scared you drop onto your bed with a little bounce. You clutch the top of your bathrobe together like they were an imaginary set of pearls. Your eyes stare up at Reiko as he creeps closer. His hands suddenly grab your face and you are a bit surprised it’s not rough enough to bruise you. And then he said it.
“I like you…I think I love you. I love the way you fight. I love your need to serve all of Outworld. You are the woman I need. Ever since we fought I knew I needed you by my side.”
“…”
“…”
“…oh…”
There is this awkwardness that takes over the whole room. You don’t say much because you are unsure of how truthful Reiko is. This could be a trick. Someone could’ve snitched and this was his way of humiliating you. But would he really go through that with only a towel on, his war paint nearly wiped off, and his hair down as it still drips with water? He is just as vulnerable in this situation as you are. You are two vulnerable lovesick fools who took too long to say something. Now that love and admiration have come dripping out.
“Are you…being serious?” You are not trying to be mean, you are genuinely asking.
His eyes narrow in anger and for a second you feel panic rising in you. But then he kisses you. It’s messy and rough and yet it feels so good. Your lips are soft compared to his slightly damaged rough lips. One hand stays on your face while the other slides to the back to hold your head. Your breathing grows heavy as the passion chokes you both before he pulls away. You look into his eyes and you know that his intentions are true.
“Any more stupid questions?” He asks somewhat aggressively, which is natural.
You nod your head no. Reiko leans back in and kisses you more, passion driving his actions. His kisses are not perfect, but you still love them. You’re not perfect with your kisses either. His body begins to press against yours until your back is pressed against your bed. His hands touch you with great curiosity and hunger, knowing where he wants to touch you but savoring every feeling beneath his fingertips. Though you hate to stop this beautiful moment as your bodies begin to heat up there is an important fact you must share if this tension is gonna break soon.
“Wait, Reiko, hold on,” you place your hands on his chest to push him back a little, “I’m a virgin.”
“So am I.” He replies casually because why should he be ashamed? He spent all his life fighting and winning battles. Do you think anyone’s gonna shame him for not having sex before this point?
There is much to talk about with this new relationship but that must wait. You two need to release that tension that has been building up for a while now. Make sure to take it slow.
══💤══╡°˖✧🦊✧˖°╞══💤══
The moans and groans of virgins can be so sweet. Skin-to-skin contact is exhilarating when the need to love one another runs through you. Oh yes and the fact that Reiko was pounding into you.
You two tried to take it slow. You especially wanted to take it slow once you saw what was behind that towel. Six inches is nothing to sneeze at. But it was the fact that it was thick and had a curve to it. That’s what made you question if it would even fit. He would make that fit, slowly but surely.
Look, he tried to do it slowly and gently but the moment the tip went in it was hard to hold back. His hands gripped your sheets as he stretched you out. The pain you felt was dull and almost pleasurable. You let out little gasps as you took in more of his cock. Your pussy clenched around him, making it even harder for him to stay calm. Reiko struggled to hold back. Your body was like a drug, and he wanted to chase that high that your warm pussy was giving him. The moment you gave him the okay his mind went blank and he started thrusting.
Whatever Shao told him before was forgotten. What did he advise him about? Reiko can’t recall. All his mind could focus on was the pleasure and heat of your body.
And now, Reiko has you right where he wants you. Beneath him and at his mercy. Except it wasn’t like before when you two fought. He doesn’t want to put you beneath him to teach you a lesson about how he is better than you. He wants you beneath him so he can give you the greatest pleasure a man could give to his lover. And that’s how he will show you that he is better and on top. Sorry, he’s competitive even in bed.
He looks down at you, your eyes closed and your mouth slightly open as you pant. Your moans bounce off the walls and slip under your door. The bed creaks with the headboard occasionally tapping against the wall. Reiko’s head reels back as he groans in pleasure like he is letting the gods know the sins you two are creating. But even if the gods don’t hear it, the barracks do. Y’all really shouldn’t be this noisy but your minds are mush. You could only focus on each other. And damn any soldier who is against you and Reiko having some fun.
His hands squeeze your thighs harshly as he keeps your legs open. His eyes move across your body, taking in every bruise and scratch you gained from training. A bit of pride creeps up into his chest as he takes in the fact that he is fucking the best female soldier he has ever seen. That pride urges him to do more. Pleasure you with the love and desire he holds for you.
He leans down and nuzzles his face against the side of your neck before biting it. Yes, biting, because kissing wouldn’t be enough for Reiko. He bites just enough for it to sting but not enough to break skin. You yelp out in pain before it gets drowned out by another moan as he thrusts into you. You can’t see it but as his teeth find another place to sink into, he has this smug smile on his face. He indulges in your reactions. More, more, give him more! Feed his ego!
He starts going rougher, pulling out till it’s only the tip left inside before slamming back in. A wet sound is made every time he pulls out. The sound of skin slapping against each other was now added to the orchestra of lewd sounds coming from your room. If you weren’t somewhat fucked out of your mind you would be embarrassed by how your body was reacting to this. Your cheeks would heat up hearing how wet you were for Reiko. Getting turned on by a man who is happily marking you, slut! Reiko’s slut!
The left side of your neck and your shoulder are littered with bite marks that will surely bruise by the time the sun rises. His lips dance across your skin to find another place to mark up. He moves lower till he gets to your tits. The way they jiggled slightly with each thrust tempts him to mark them too. Why not, what does Reiko lose from showing others that you are his lady? Exactly, nothing. That’s why he starts sucking at the sensitive skin of your tits to mark them with hickeys. Those beautiful red hickeys will take days to fade away.
You felt his tongue begin to swirl around your nipple. His hot breath tickles your skin as his warm saliva coats your nipple. His lips wrap around the sensitive bud, sucking on it as he starts rolling his hips. Your back arches from the pleasure that came from that. Every time he rolled his hips it rubbed against your clit. It works well with his curved cock as it begins to rub against your g-spot. It makes your toes curl and you get the sudden urge to wrap your legs around his waist and never let him go. The only thing stopping you was his hands which kept your legs open. Reiko is in full control and all you can do is arch your back as you moan his name.
Gods, hearing you moan his name drove him crazy. It makes him go rougher. The slapping sound gets louder as his balls slap against your ass. He sucks a little harder on your nipple until his teeth start to lightly graze it. They threatened to bite down, but not fully, he’s not a maniac. Once you start to feel a slight sting on your nipple that’s when your hand goes up and yanks on his hair. He groaned not from pain but from pleasure when you did that. He snickers before saying,
“What, are you afraid of a little pain? I thought you were tougher than that. Come on gorgeous, I know you can take it.”
“Shut up…” You whine out. You sound pathetic trying to fight off your moans when you say that.
You yank his hair again, earning yourself another satisfied groan from him. He slams into you while grinding his hips so he can rub against your clit. It works in making you weak enough to let go of his hair and pleasure you. He takes the chance to move his mouth to your other tit. His slick tongue licks your nipple before he bites down around your nipple. Teeth marks showed up around the areola. You yelp at the sting that dwindles into a light-burning sensation on your right tit. That’s definitely gonna leave a mark.
“Ow Reiko! You bastard!” You scold him.
But what’s the point in scolding him when he knew you liked it? He felt how your walls squeezed and pulsed around him. The wet sound grew louder since you got wetter from the pain. That son of a bitch chuckles from the fact that the pain he was giving you was pleasuring you. It turns him on more and you feel his cock twitch inside you.
You recognize that you are getting closer to cumming. It felt like a knot in your lower belly was growing tighter with each thrust. Your body grows hotter and your breath becomes shorter. Your hands grab Reiko’s shoulders before your nails dig into his pale skin. Red scratch marks are left behind as your grip grows tighter. He keeps rolling his hips and thrusting at an angle, your reaction letting him know he is hitting those sweet spots. Your pussy pulses around his cock until finally that knot in you snaps. This warm feeling in your lower belly swirls and consumes your body. You feel like you can breathe again but all that air is being used up on your desperate moans. That pleasure reaches your brain and it’s like everything you were worried about was gone. Your mind was clear and all you could think about was Reiko’s thick cock stretching you out.
Reiko listens to the sweet moans that slip past your lips as he keeps pounding into you. He looks into your beautiful eyes, eyes wet with tears. They were happy tears. Happy to be fucked out of your mind. His cock twitches from the knowledge that he was the first man to make you feel such ecstasy. He plans to be the only man to give you that high that everyone deserves to get.
All the emotions, the noises, the pain and pleasure, it was enough to make Reiko cum. He thrusts into your warm, wet pussy before he pulls out quickly. His lips crash against yours to sloppily kiss you. Truly, this kiss was sloppy. He couldn’t keep his mouth closed the whole time with all those groans and…oh fuck he’s moaning. Breathy low moans come from him as his cock twitches between your legs. Warm cum splatters all over your stomach and even reach up to your tits. It drips down your sides as he finally manages to close his mouth and goes back to kissing you. Some saliva drips out and dribbles down both your chins. Aw, poor Reiko, he was so pent up.
He slowly pulls away, a string of saliva still connecting your lips. He lets go of your legs. They go limp from how weak you are. You’re both panting. Your skin slightly glistens with sweat and so does his. You are soaked down there with some of your wetness dripping down onto the sheets. After a few deep breaths, one of you manages to say something.
“So, do you still think I am joking?” Reiko asks.
“Obviously not. I felt the love you have for me.” And you still do as you remember it all. Got you shivering like it was still going on.
He laughs almost mockingly as he grabs the towel that he used before to clean you up. Look at him being a gentleman and cleaning his cum off your body. Only a man who loves you would do that.
When he finishes, he throws the towel in some random corner as he lies next to you. His head lays against your pillows as his arm rests over his eyes. He is still breathing heavily as he takes in everything that happened. The feeling of your body against his and how nicely your pussy squeezed him is fresh in his mind. So fresh his cock twitches as if it were still in you. That’s what good pussy does to a man. It stays with him.
You snuggle up to him and his arm instinctively wraps around you. You rest your head on his chest as his hand squeezes your shoulder. Your fingers trace over his abs, something you thought you would never be able to do before. Your heart flutters when you realize that Reiko is yours. He is your man now. He wanted you just as badly as you wanted him and now he is yours. You can’t help but smile as you lean up to kiss along his jawline. He smiles before looking down and kissing your forehead.
“So what, you’re going to act all lovey with me now that we are together?”
“Hah, maybe in the bedroom but not on the training grounds. I’ll still beat your ass in a loving way.”
You can see the smile on his face become prouder as he says, “I’d like nothing better.”
With one last kiss on the lips, you begin to fall asleep in his arms. Your body is satisfied, and your heart is full of love. And even if Reiko is your boyfriend now, your words are true. You will beat his ass with everything you got. You’ll keep being the warrior he fell in love with, just with a few more kisses and hugs sprinkled in.
Ah actually before you sleep I’ll advise you to apologize to the other soldiers in the morning. You were not discreet at all. Even General Shao heard what you did. That’ll be fun to deal with in the morning.
Yap notes: Uhhhh yeah that was long. I should've been working on final papers but I really just wanted to finish this fic. I hope this is good because I felt uncertain in some places. Idk I just wanted to feel some joy again this semester sucks and the past few days have been awful. Anyway I freaking love Reiko. He makes me question my morals. But he is so hot. I can't play with him in front of my fiancé sometimes because he makes fun of him. On test your might to be more specific. There was one time I was looking for tramp stamp inspirations (don't judge me I just think they are neat) and we saw a tattoo and he said "that's probably what it looks like after having sex with Reiko" like hush 😭. 👇

I should get back to my papers and I hope I can just have some free time soon. This semester is killing me. Adiós!

So, for the Eclipse Kings,
I feel that it is going to be very interesting when the kings go from seeing you(the reader) as a hanger on to their son, to their other child. I don't know how you plan to go about it, but this is an idea I had:
So, you're stuck here, for now at least. MK doesn't want to let you go, and the kings feel indebted to you enough to make sure you don't, like, starve. It could be worse, but you don't really want to stay.
And good news! You probably won't have to. You're not their kid. They don't care about you, beyond a sense of obligation, really. And while MK is basically your brother, siblings don't always live right next to each other. You can leave and promise to come back or something. Macaque, at least, will probably be glad to get your pathetic, scarred, human self out of his pristine home.
It'll be fine. You can work with this.
You can work with the mat on the floor, still more comfortable than your old hut, and the clothes not quite made for you, but still better than anything you had, and the room that isn't yours, but it isn't cold, either. You'll probably leave in the spring, after this winter.
And then, something changes. Because things are starting to properly fit you, the only human in this palace, now.
You have a bed, now, and a room to go with it(although you and MK still tend to sleep closer together than not).
And you don't tend to hallucinate, but you must have, just now. Or else Macaque just introduced you and MK as his "kids".
And you can't be their kid, and be free. They just got MK back, after assuming he was dead. You've seen how closely they watch him. He'll probably never leave, or at least not anytime soon, and never for long.
Maybe you're misunderstanding things, you think. After all, they're not heartless. Wukong has always been prone to getting in other's personal space, surely him picking you up to show you something he thought you would like is a normal extension of that.
And even if they did care, you're human. That's got to be an issue, right? No one would accept a human as part of Flower Fruit Mountain's royal family. Also, you won't live half as long as them. Why would they get attached?
However, when someone is even half as powerful as these kings, it turns out that these are solvable problems, really.
And they have never been good about losing what's theirs. Especially not now that they decided they have more to lose.
(Sorry if this doesn't fit with what you're planning. I just had lots of thoughts.)
Eclipse Kings
Growing Accustomed
(Anon, this is exactly it. It’s little things. And I love how you write BTW?? It’s so good!)
The starting disparity is undeniable, even though it’s not malicious and sometimes necessary, and honestly even understandable.
MK gets steak with broth and rice. You get porridge and diced fruit. Fair- he’s got a stronger stomach than you, because you always made sure that he ate better, ate cleaner, ate more. Your stomach isn’t adjusted to anything above the literal bare minimum. He can process meat without losing his guts, you can’t.
So it’s actually the furthest thing from unfair, given that it’s custom catered to your needs. Hell, they even mix in honey to make it more palatable.
But only because they owe you.
So it’s nothing more than repaying a debt when they ensure that the maidservants have a full list of food appropriate to serve you, each meal shared on MK’s insistence- it’s nothing.
Not yet.
Your mat is nothing special to them, and at first they doubt that you’ll sleep well- then the kings see how deeply you rest, how hard it is to rouse you. It’s perfectly cozy, not to them, but to you. MK tells them you slept on the ground before, left the little bedding available to him. You slept cold and hungry, but he was warm and fed, draped in whatever you could scrounge up.
So they plan to make things a little cozier, maybe only to see how you’ll react, maybe only because MK refuses to use his own bed and instead sleeps on your chest, maybe only because every minute spent with or around you is another reminder that they owe you their son’s life a hundred times and several years over.
Which has Macaque wonder if you can’t be a little cozier, because maybe he owes you some comfort after the hell you endured to provide for his son.
He calls you to the washroom one day and gives you a few of his nicer supplies, a soothing cream for wounds in one jar, a lovely citrus perfume in another. Things he has because Wukong convinced him to love himself enough to indulge in luxuries, now shared with some little mortal that didn’t know such things existed before now.
You have scars, the same as him. Macaque pointlessly “punished” himself for the death of a son still-living, hungry and cold and dirty. You earned yours the hard way, by living as best you could to take care of MK.
You have the scars for the same reason, but yours are a thousand times more earned, less piteous, and far, far worse.
So he teaches you how to take care of them, stretches to work through when they start to ache, what to eat to loosen tension in the body, so on and so forth.
But only because he owes you. Nothing more.
Not yet.
(But you use that perfume each day, and the monkey certainly doesn’t miss how you brighten at the little taste of luxury.)
And MK- “Qi Xiaotian”, they say, trying hard to drill that lovely (it really is lovely, but you don’t think it fits him) name into your mouth, but it tastes bitter and wrong. He’s only ever been your little “Monkie Kid”, even before his years-long illusion (glamour, some call it) wore off.
MK, with all his love for you, anchors you in place.
Fine. That’s fine.
You can justify it. Reason your way through staying, never realizing that you’re adjusting.
You can’t leave because it’s too cold. Because you’re too hurt. Because there’s no easy way to find food. Because, a dozen times over, and the truth is that the only thing keeping you here is the prince.
“Qi Xiaotian”, alight with gleeful laughter, who refuses to sleep unless you’re within arm’s reach, who insists you share every new toy or treat the kings bring him. “You’re my big sibling,” he says, voice bright with conviction. “Why wouldn’t I share?”
It’s easy to let that logic soothe you. After all, MK’s the real reason you’re here. Without him, the kings wouldn’t even know you existed.
So you settle in a little more.
It’s not like you get used to all this, after all.
And then Sun Wukong grows a little more doting. Now your food is somewhat like theirs, tender cuts of meat served beside your porridge to help the adjustment back to solid and hearty food. Fruit juice in place of water. Bread with jam. Only a little bit of each, but your plate is more appealing, and you enjoy those meals a little more each day with all the new things you get to try.
He even grows playful once or twice, clinking his gilded goblet against your glass, pretending to toast with you.
You smile. It’s not the sort of fun orphans like you often get to have.
(He’s starting to cherish your smile. How cute! How sweet! No wonder you cheer his little Xiaotian up!)
You get tucked in sometimes, when you fall asleep and sprawl over MK, who cuddles into your chest like he always has- this means subjecting yourself to nightly check-ups from the kings, but they come with glasses of water and fluffy blankets, so who cares?
They tuck you both in, mostly because any form of separation would be impossible.
And maybe because it’s just cute to see their kids sleeping happily and; more importantly, safely.
Then Macaque wants to change your wardrobe. He calls you in one day, right back to the washroom from before.
Has it been months already?
Weren’t you supposed to leave when spring came blooming through?
He drapes a new hanfu over your shoulders- the last one was shabbier, duller. It was a non-distinct blue and dull white, but this one is black with gold embroidery. He ties a silk sash around your waist and then pulls a fur-lined cape over your shoulders.
It’s warm. It has to be warm, because there’s a cold chill coming in and you’ll “need” to be comfortable through it. There’s no explanation given as to why it matters to him, so you just assume that the king is being a good host.
After all, it’s not like he cares about you.
…right?
It can’t be.
But he goes a step further and tends to your hair with a vast array of implements and products, trimming the uneven edges and setting it with many different creams for restoration. And then applies a few balms for your lips, your nose…
So eventually you’ve whiled the whole day away being doted on and in some manner “soothed”, feeling genuinely and honestly good, and even-
Pretty.
You’ve never felt pretty before.
His hand, harsh as it was days prior, gently swipes the tears gathering in your eyes, then pats your head.
(And he starts wondering if maybe having an older child wouldn’t be so bad.)
And maybe when Wukong is talking to Azure and Yellowtusk about some new invention they’re brainstorming to improve the lives of mortals, some form of metal that always twists to point north, keeping them from losing their way in untamed wildernesses and winding paths. The science of it goes over his head, but he nods along anyways- anything for his Brotherhood.
And you come along to tell him something maybe that trends to “unimportant”, given that you just tug his sleeve with a mild expression, content to wait- and Wukong, really without thinking, scoops you up and sits you on his hip, motioning out a little bounce here and there.
It should be embarrassing (and it is, a little), but… he’s warm, you’re waiting for his attention anyways, and it’s not like either of the demons he’s speaking to mind, so… you just don’t argue.
But even when they leave he doesn’t put you down, and instead cradles you again, like he did the first night you both met, like a father holds his newborn baby, one arm supporting your back and legs, the other your neck. He asks what you need, and smiles when you tell him.
And even when he goes off to do whatever it is that you needed, well… Sun Wukong still does not put you down.
But maybe he just wasn’t thinking on it.
(If you were a frog, the water would be nearing a boil.)
And then there are parental threats, little idle “warnings” that they don’t seem intent on following through with.
Threats that your mouth with be scrubbed with soap, or that you’ll be sent to the corner, or taken over a knee, or some other generic punishment that a parent wouldn’t think twice about administering… but surely they aren’t being serious.
Surely.
After all, those are things parents do to their children, and you are not their child.
So you accept it as “teasing”.
The suggestions that the kings might see fit to correct your behavior slowly become reality- mostly in the form of lectures or lightly tugged ears. They do not remove privileges, given that you take and do so little- would they take your food or bedding, and make you fear a return to your squalid lifestyle?
Instead they just… talk. Talk about how you’ve disappointed them, how they’re sad, upset. How you’ve “let them down”, but there’s still second chances because they know you can “do better”.
You’re teasing MK, something harmless but just sharp enough to make him pout and snap back at you. The kings are in the room, half-paying attention, but you can feel their presence like a storm cloud hanging over your head.
Wukong’s tail lashes once, twice, and then he’s there, tugging lightly at your ear.
“Hey,” he says, his voice mock-stern but with an edge that makes you freeze. “Be nice. That’s your brother.”
Before you can be scared, Wukong lets go, ruffling your hair like he’s brushing away the moment itself, and you’re left standing there, your heart racing for reasons you don’t fully understand.
And you finally can’t find a way to justify it- because they have finally dropped the act and stopped pretending that you aren’t family.
You can’t leave, because they’ve decided you belong here.
Not because they owe you. Not because of MK.
Because you’re theirs.

Cursed Warlord AU - Reader & MK Talk
Might make this canon to au... Not sure yet. The scene just would not leave my head.
Summery: After the journey Reader is sent back to her world, and both of the warlords believe she is dead. They are married and raise Xiaotian when they find his egg, the small amount of chaos energy reminds them of Reader. And he has powers similar to both Sun Wukong and The Six Eared Macaque.
He is able to convince his dads to let him live in the city. It takes years but he convinces them and works at Pigsy’s noodles meeting a young woman named Reader who is now his co-worker. Someone who just moved into town a few months before him.
He gets into a fight with his dads about them wanting him to come back but he doesn’t want to live on the Mountian. Because of this he is sitting on top of the restaurant when Reader finds him.
“MK?” You call out in confusion when you first noticed his feet dangling off of the roof.
It had shocked you to see the young man curled up with a look of defeat across his face. His arms crossed over his chest as he pulled his knees up to his chest as you made your way out of his apartment window to get to him. You had to borrow a key from Pigsy just to get through the window.
“What do you want?” He grumbled not looking at you as he stared up at the night sky.
You remained silent for a moment before sitting down next to him. Looking down you noticed the fall would probably hurt so you crossed your legs and sat just a little bit away from the edge. You knew something was wrong but for the life of you, you couldn’t figure it out.
“Are you alright?” You questioned, looking out at the stars not wanting to pressure him.
“What do you care?” He bit back a frown setting on his face as he turned to face you, but it relaxed when he noticed how calm you looked.
“I care about my friends, and you’re my friend. We’ve been through quite a bit you know, you saved me from the Spider Queen, and you stopped that one demon from courtnapping me remember. Is it so confusing to think that I care about you?” You chuckled awkwardly unsure of what he meant with his question.
Mk’s eyes widened in shock, he hadn’t thought of that. Then a frown set back on his face, you only cared because he helped you. Why was that disappointing? His parents were right, they were the only ones who loved him unconditionally. No one else cared-
“Then again, I cared before then. You’re a cheerful person it’s no wonder that everyone cares about you so much,” You laughed fondly before finally looking him in the eyes.
His eyes were wide with shock, “Not everyone cares about me,” He finally bit back.
“That’s true, there will always be people that won’t care. Every person is different… but you do have a lot of people who care about you. Pigsy, Tang, Sandy, Mo, you’ve got Mei always hanging out with you, haven’t you also befriended Redson?” You teased about Redson causing Mk’s face to flush. You knew full well of the crush he developed on the Second Demon Bull Prince. “Redboy is also someone who has been hanging around without trying to kill anyone you know.”
“…Yeah. There are people who care,” He mutters lowly. “But why?”
You glanced at him before staring up at the stars again. You thought it over, the silence slowly becoming tense as Mk waited for a reason. Some real reason that people cared about him, that they would truly want to be his friend.
“I can’t say,” You respond finally and Mk felt his chest tighten, there was no good reason was there.
“Oh.”
“Well I can’t say why THEY care,” You emphasize before looking at him again with a smile.
Looking at you with a calm look he waited again, even though he wanted to run away so he didn’t have to listen to any more of this. It hurt, he didn’t want to listen about what he did to EARN their affection. He just wanted to be loved for who he was, he wanted people to care for him without them asking for something in return. But regardless he couldn’t bring himself to move so he sat there listening to you speak. Each word made him freeze.
“I can tell you why I care though. I care because you’re you. I care because you’re MK. I care because you are a good person. I care because no matter what I know you try to do what is right even when others try to push you down or push you in a different direction,” You explain hoping that he could feel the sincerity of your words.
He stared at you wide eyes for a moment before asking, “But- But what if I wasn’t a good person? What if I got pushed down? What if I got sent the wrong way?”
“Why does that matter?” You asked in response after a moment of silence.
“What? Why would it not matter?” He bit back tears flooding his eyes.
“It doesn’t matter because you ARE a good person. Because you GET BACK UP when you get pushed down. Because you turn around when you get pushed the WRONG WAY. Mk listen life is full of ups and downs, there will always be something that will test you in one way or another. I don’t know what is going on but… no matter what, you know I care about you. Even if you don’t KNOW that, I do, I care about you just like your other friends care about you,” You hope that’s the right thing to say, even though it didn’t make complete sense… You weren’t very good at this were you?
Mk stared at you thinking, what was wrong? What was wrong was the fact his parents didn’t think he was old enough to live in the city. What was wrong was his parents wanting him to go back to the island. What was wrong is that they continued to try to protect him when he didn’t need it. He moved to the city to prove he could do SOMETHING for himself, and he had… he had done many things for himself. He fought the Demon Bull King, The Spider Queen, many other demons, he had made a living for himself, he had saved lives and he had survived against threats of all kinds.
Even after all that his parents still didn’t see him as an adult they still didn’t see that he was loved and cared for while actually getting the freedom to CHOOSE what he wanted to do. He could feel the tears building in his eyes, he knew that this had nothing to do with thinking that the others didn’t care for him, he knew they did. He just wanted his parents to see that as well.
“My parents… they want me to move back home,” He barely let out the whisper, letting out a choked sob, he didn’t want to go back. It hadn’t even been six months and they wanted him to come back. “But I don’t want to go back. I want to stay HERE.”
“Do- Do you not get along with your parents?” You begin with a frown, suddenly worried for his actual mental health.
“It’s not that! It… I just…They make me feel so trapped like I can’t do anything without them. But I can! I can do things without them… I just wish that they could see that,” He almost yelled trying to calm down while still being upset. “I-It almost makes me… hate them! I- I just don’t know what to do anymore!”
“… Have you told them that?” You asked curiously.
“What!? NO! I could never tell them any of that, they would never take it well. They… they wouldn’t even listen I’m sure,” He growled out thinking back to their last argument.
‘You wanted to see the city and you have, now it’s time to come home. Where it’s safe,’ his baba’s words echoed through his own glamoured six ears, he didn’t want to think about it. He just wanted them to listen to him for once!
You sat in silence for a moment before finally saying, “…How will you know if you don’t tell them?”
Mk didn’t respond at first as he took deep breaths. He wouldn’t know their reactions unless he actually said something would he? But these were HIS parents, the same ones who want him to train more, to stay by their side and become a warlord like them. He didn’t want that, he didn’t want to be a warlord, he wanted to be a hero, someone people would actually look at without fear or hatred.
“I just do… They just want me to stay with them like… like some child!”
“They want to protect you…” You muttered thinking back on your own experiences, when you were trapped, when you had no where you could turn to except for the ones who held you prisoner. You had been a Queen but you didn’t have freedom, and freedom was something that you valued highly in life. “But you feel trapped with how they do it? Is that right?”
“Something like that…” Mk curled up again silently letting some tears freely fall down his cheeks.
“I’ve been through that once…” You had been trying not to think about them, but how could you not? You had returned to the world they resided, one wrong move and they would find you. You had already left them three times and each time they got more and more desperate to keep you close. You weren’t sure how to tell Mk that, especially since his parents probably weren’t world dominating Warlords like your husbands were.
“You have?” Mk sounded disbelieving.
“Yeah… I… I was married once or still am… I think. Anyways, I was married and my husbands were… well they were powerful warriors and known far and wide. They hated when I would get in danger and every chance they got they would drag me back to their home. They didn’t want me to leave because they were afraid of what would happen,” You explained hoping to give him some comfort in knowing he wasn’t alone.
"So what? You think I should.... Just go back?" he asked slowly before scoffing.
"No. Nothing will excuse a person's actions. I'm saying that there are reasons, reasons that show how much they care about you. Maybe if you spoke with them and told them exactly how you feel... They might listen, after all they do care about you,” you said as you pulled him into a hug," May be they would listen to him like Sun Wukong and Macaque didn't listen to you.
MK thought about it, maybe just maybe they would listen to him. There was a chance, it was small, his parents never did like when he was in real danger. He just couldn't live his life on the island like he has been. He wanted...he craved...he needed freedom.
"Did you... What happened to your husbands?" MK finally asked.
"Well... It's a long story," you start but decide to sum it up, sort of. “But they think I'm dead.”
"What? Who are your husbands?"
"Sun Wukong and The Six Eared Macaque."
As always comments and likes are greatly appreciated. Opinions? Send them my way. If you have criticism also let me know, just don’t be rude about it (Though I haven’t had any RUDE criticism. In fact all that I’ve gotten are helpful opinions which I greatly enjoy!)
