he’s not even sure what he’s saying anymore. don’t get him wrong, he had a point -- it’s just that he’s forgotten said point. ( and, why wouldn’t he with all the alcohol pumping through his veins. ) he can’t remember the tributes’ names. though, they don’t seem much like fighters. not very cunning, either. he’d never say that out loud -- probably. he’s stumbling over his words at this point -- something about shelter and water. the only suggestions he can ever provide.

haymitch watches as effie lifts her hand from the table -- as if she’s about to ask a question. instead, she offers a slight wave of her hand. ( he makes a mental note when he notices the shimmer on her nails -- matching perfectly to the [ . . . ] monstrosity she’s put on her head this year. ) his hand lifts, as he brings his glass of liquor up to his lips. blue eyes blink for a moment, willing the blurred vision away. there’s a part of him thankful for her interruption. he leans back in his chair, his eyes focusing on effie. the way her lips move as the speaks, how her brows lift and fall as she emphasizes her words, both of her hands now raises and making various motions in the air.

eyes slip back towards the tributes -- the children he’s been tasked with training. they don’t even seem like they’re listening -- rather just shoveling food into their mouths as quickly as they can manage. ( he can’t really blame them ; after all, he was once in their place. ) a light sigh slips from his lips, as he places his glass back on the table. seat is pushed back as he stands, tossing the cloth napkin on his empty place. “alright, i’ve done my duties, i’m going to sleep.” his eyes move towards the tributes -- their wide eyes already on him. “good luck, stay alive, etcetera.” even he can hear the hollowness of his words. eyes move back to effie. he touches his index finger under her chin for just a moment -- barely a touch at all. “as always, you’ve been an absolute pleasure.” he makes a point to coat his words with sarcasm, before he turns away from the table. he has to keep his hand against the wall as he move, focusing carefully on making it to his room without tripping.

forever mourning how granada holmes never adapted the three garridebs. diabolical. unbelievable, even. Stanley looks dead faced because of his ingrained poker face, but he's thouroughly enjoying it, even if sometimes he has no idea what the fuck Ford is saying. He never interrupts him though, since he knows people usually ignore or interrupt him mid-talk already. So sometimes Stan gets stuck in awkward situations where he has to leave or do stuff, but also doesn't have it in his heart to stop Ford and extract himself out of a (one-sided) conversation.
