notes: this is loosely based on the summer i turned pretty. i just watched the second season and lawwwd i wanted to make a ff soo bad. plus milo and ross have absolutely none anywhere.

You loved Dahlia's beach. It always smelled salty with a hint of expensive barbeque if you were in the city. But near the countryside there was the sweet smell of honeysuckle. That's where you would rather be, where the tall grass met the sandy dunes. The sounds of hooves on pavement and bustle around the farmers market on a hot weekend afternoon.

This summer was no different. Your stomach churned, rumbling in excitement as you neared the beach house. It was huge. Five bedrooms with enough bathrooms. Too many patios surrounding it. Turquoise colored pool with a small waterfall. The house was a blueish gray color with white accents. Calm and minimalistic, much unlike the other grand colorful houses on the street. It sat like a diamond around other stones in a non normal way. The most priceless of them all. Placed directly in front of the beach but not close enough to tourist spots so it was always quiet. It was always such an amazing way to spend the three months in between school. You looked forward to it every year.

But that wasn't all you looked forward to.

Your mom honked as you guys entered the driveway. A wide smile plastered on her face. Your mom seemed to love this place more than she loved you, even if she denied it when you asked. You knew the truth. Summers at the beach house were the only time she got to see her best friend, Camryn.

"Hey!" A voice squealed from the porch. You shuffled out of the car, legs aching after a long 5 hours. As you stretched you were met with Cam, arms spread jumping for joy. Practically knocking you over. They were best friends from high school. Going to college together and even sharing a dorm room. With how they acted every time they met, you were convinced they had separation anxiety. They didn't get to see each other throughout the year. Other than here of course. For they lived states apart, Dahlia's being a quiet beach town that was located in the middle.

Camryn engulfed you in a bear hug first, gushing about how pretty you are. Making you do a spin in your dress. Once she pulled away she did the same to your mom whose high pitched voice could be heard from the beach. As they talked about how ‘different’ each other looked. You watched as they walked inside hand in hand when your eyes met his.

Milo.

He radiantly smiled as he trotted over to you. The classic hands in pockets, ruffled hair, and expensive glasses. It was like he had a glow up every year whether it was him dressing better or maybe getting a bit taller.

"Hi" He cooed embracing you in a tight hug. The smell of his overpriced cologne filled your nose. It reminded you of sugary trees and cool waves. Much like the beach house. He was another reason you loved the beach house so much. Without him you were stuck with two middle aged ladies whose celebrity crush was Liam Neeson and only watched tv shows made by Shonda Rhimes. He was fun. He never made you feel left out or alone. He was everything any girl could wish for. Tall, smart, rich, and incredibly good eye candy.

"Hello, Milo." You smiled as he let you go.

He ran a hand threw his hair looking down at you. Eyes trailing down your body strangely. His expression was unrecognizable. Your face heated up turning your head to avoid his gaze. He touched the bottom of your dress. Yanking the fabric gently.

"This is a little short isn't it?" He questioned eyes meeting yours. Lips curled up in a sly smile. Rolling your eyes you scoffed slapping his hand away. He acted like a big brother sometimes. Especially with your clothes. Every summer complaining about how short your shorts were or how revealing your bathing suit was.

"Oh shut up you do this every-" The sight of someone else on the porch caught your eye. "Who's that?" You questioned raising an eyebrow.

Milo turned around and nodded in acknowledgement as the boy made his way down the stairs. Bleached blond hair slightly overgrown and wide smile on display as he made his way towards you two.

"Y/N this is Ross, Ross Y/N. He's staying the summer with us this year." Ross reached his hand out to you. Clad in silver rings that looked a bit out of your price range. Does Milo have any Middle Class friends? It was unusual. No one ever came to the beach house from back home. It was like a unsaid rule between everyone. Written in big red letters 'No Strangers'. The dads didn't even bother coming even though Milo's paid for it.

"Nice to meet you." He looked you up and down a tongue swiping over his lips. "Milo didn't tell me how pretty you are."

"Dude!" Milo exclaimed punching his shoulder rolling his eyes.

"Thank you." You beamed softening your voice. Milo scoffed walking towards the trunk slightly bumping into Ross. But he didn't seem to mind, hazel eyes still trained on you.

"So where are you fr-" Ross was cut off by a slightly pissed off Milo. "Are you guys serious? C'mon Ross help me with these bags." Ross walked away backwards eyes still focused on you with that addicting smile of his.

"See you inside?" He whispered loud enough for you to hear him.

You didn't respond. Only nodding as you strolled inside.

no shade to the Molly actress, she's obviously amazing (did you know she has a Tony award? yeap, she's fucking queen anyway) but Emily Rossum and better writing would've made the whole arc much more interesting. Emily fits Hugh's aesthetic in a way that she's very dainty and princess. So imagine if they actually cared about her as a character and made her super soft spoken and delicate and ultra feminine, not this generic "girl boss momma super strong 💪 woman uhuu" boring shit they think we want to see aaaall the goddamn time, this commercialized fake feminism, because the audience would've actually liked her, truly rooting for her because that would make her more likable, less generic/basic, and a contrast to Will and the plot. Hannibal would ACTUALLY need to fight for Will because the og Molly is so poorly written that she stands ZEROOOO chance to H. But a little princess with a kinky side? Oh man. I mean, obviously H's is Will's soulmate but ugh it would've made things better, like give us ACTUAL conflict cause that little family was not it, poor molly-wally, they were fucking dust next to the Lecter hurricate. Just...Completely swallowed. Will took one look at H and was like oh well good fucking bye, to them. Cutesy Molly would've shown that man how to beg for Will.

Also: no SHIT the actress was only in her 20's when the show was shot 🤪. I know that. Do not fucking test my patience, this is a goddamn headcanon ffs.

Secondly i'm currently writing a ff for your welcome home finfolk au. And i do have a few questions about...Howdy.

(If you do not want to answer totally fine!!)

-you once said that Howdy has 'calmed down' from what he usually was in the past. Seeing the damage he did to Wally i'm gonna assume he's a real damn powerhouse. Since even Home doesn't seem able to completely heal Wally yet. Is he like second in rank from Wally when it comes to magic/physical power etc?

Also ....to give an idea what was Howdy like in the past? Actions personality wise.

Now he's probably nicer....well as nice as finfolk are.... . But would he still be able to get petty, cruel vain? Well more like fall back into old habits?

Whqt kind of things would he say/ do etc. In general?

I don't really write for Welcome Home anymore. However, the finfolk AU was kind of a bit of a passion project for me since I had gotten into marine biology and folklore related to it so I'll happily answer!

You are correct in thinking Howdy is a bit of a power house, both physically and magically. He used to be equal in strength to Wally and most of the damage done is difficult to heal because Home isn't exactly in good shape right now and hasn't been for years. He just wants to keep everything on his own little island away from society. Let his little finfolk friends do as they please and be happy.

He would be far nicer than how he used to be in the past, but Howdy is a very petty finman and that bit of him might just come up again every now and then. For some past actions as an example, let's just say he really didn't like it when Wally tried telling him what to do when he finally found someone he liked. Didn't help that he was already growing annoyed with Wally's arrogant behavior and flaunting his shiny scales and fins all the time in front of his lover.

As for the present? He's more mellow and quiet. Sometimes there might be a flair of annoyance, but overall he's very controlled now in his actions. Very deliberate. He's also quite smart. Not talkative though. He's learned not to always jump to action, but to simply wait and lay out plans to get what he wants. (In case you couldn't tell, he has done a lot of learning in his life)

I just had a really annoying reblog on my last post and I can't tag them or write a comment to them or anything but I need to let this out:

First of all, just because I see some similarities between different characters from different media doesn't mean they're 100% the same character, yeah?? That's like common sense I fear.

Second of all, Jon Kent as a character is of course complex, but a lot of people can't quite characterize him because he was hit by the Bendis truck and now no writer quite knows what to do with him. This is a common problem DC has where every writer has a different idea they go with and the publishers just let it happen. Wally also suffered a lot after being brought back but now he's fine so we can only hope that the same happens to Jon eventually (he's certainly getting there)

So just because I used two silly words in a silly little post doesn't mean I don't understand the character. I didn't call him a fucking sunshine boy to erase all his other characteristics. I was just highlighting the fact that having a normal friend (as normal as it can get at least) helped Damian a lot, in the same way it did with Killua and Gon. And again I'm not saying they're 100% similar but they just have the same vibe to me.

A lot of the fandom has formed their opinions upon fanfiction and has never actually picked up a comic, which annoys me as much as it annoys any DC fan. My intention wasn't to look that way but this person just ran with it after seeing two words. It's just not that deep sometimes and that's that.

Valentine's Superhero Wedding Poll IV: Archie's Revenge!

Hello all you happy people! For those who haven't seen my blog I review stuff and have a proud annual tradition: I love a good wedding, I love superhero comics, so I smushed both together and my lovely patrons get to each pick one to compete against each other with you lovely folks picking the winner. Who will join previous winners Aunt May X Doc Ock, Rogue X Gambit (first year was a tie win) , Wiccan X Hulking and Wally West X Linda Park? It's all up to you. Introducing our challengers

Archie Andrews and Veronica Lodge/Archie Andrews and Betty Cooper (Archie #600-605): This is a weird one and also our first non-superhero comic nominated! Yes @weirdkev27 choose "Archie and his Harem". For Archie's 600th issue in 2009 editorial decided to settle the oldest question: Who would Archie choose... by not really setttling it and giving us an au for each lady: nepo baby Veronica Lodge and tomboy Betty Cooper where they each get to marry archie. It was a giant success and since the stories are each three parters and the wedding ended up sandwitched in the middle i'm covering the whole story if it wins. I also intended to include the Valarie from Josie and the Pussycats version, but 9 issues is a bit steep for one of these, so i'm making that an option for my patrons to pick next year.

The Thing (Ben Grimm) and Alicia Masters (Fantastic Four: The Wedding Special and Fantastic Four #5): Ben Grimm is one of my faviorite characters, so I was happy to see @brotoman-exe once again pick Ben's nuptials to long time love intrest Alicia Masters. After a LOT of stuff over their decades long cortship from an alien abducting Alicia and marrying johnny while wearing her face, to various attempts at other love intrests, writers spent decades not really deciding if Ben should marry Alicia or not. Of all people Dan Slott, whose run on FF haunts me to this day, made the correct decision to have the two get engaged when the four came back from a long hiatus under his pen, and the two get married in short order. Naturally this being marvel's first family there's some pathos, a kicking johnny storm bachelor party with extra bachelor pathos and of course Doctor Doom interrupts it without even meaning to. It's a sweet ceremony that's stuck to this day, to the point Slott, in another of his handful of good decisions, gave them adopted alien children. Fuck yeah.

Antoine D'Collette and Bunnie Rabbot (Sonic the Hedgehog #174): Another non superhero one as the fastest thing alive couldn't settle down but two of his closest friends could. One was a frenchman who started as a cowardly sexually harassing asshole but turned into a brave hero, the other was a southern belle who got turned into a cyborg and became Rogue from the x-men. The two found love with each other a love that endured only interrupted by his clone from another universe pretending to be him and breaking up with her.

So when Sonic maesto Ian Flynn took the archie books over and finished his first year full of housekeeping, his next priority was to make sure that sorta shit couldn't happen again. The two formally tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony just before a tramautic as fuck invasion because when your life starts with your whole world being upended by a tyrant turning everyone into robots, you really just gotta take the good days where you can get em and this is one of the best.

Clark Kent and Lois Lane (Superman the Wedding Album #1) It's the wedding that was decades , various schemes, elseworlds, multiversal resets, and a death to tie into the tv show better in the making. DC's signature couple finally got married, a marriage that would stick, be rebooted out, then rebooted back in. Take notes marvel that begins as any wedding should: with the bride nearly marrying someone else as a ploy to hold him at gun point. That's all I know thus far and frankly that's enough

Do you think that in the new universe that James Gunn is creating, we will finally be able to have a proper interaction between Hal and Barry?

I mean honestly I really don't know but I'm a little worried about the rumors about hal being an old mentor figure cuz they're a good chance that they're gonna push hal away in favor of john considering the fact that hal is very underrepresented, he is either just a side character or mischaracterized (also considering dc is slowly starting to do it) or maybe I'm just overreacting a bit

I don't know why but I find it a little unfair (I get they wanted to be accurate to the silver age comic when hal's actually decades older than john but cmon) and just making more alan underutilized

I don't hate john but like I said I just want a buddy cop between these two considering we really don't have a full interaction between these two

as for barry we really have no news for james gunn flash but they better use barry cuz I'm so sick of wally fans dissing barry in favor of wally

I loved this episode. So much happened

Let me just talk about how fine Nightwing is. I actually forget how hot he is. He's too fine. He's actually making me combust. TMI I know but look at him.

When Artemis was disguised as that Tiger person or smth and started beating Nightwing. I felt things man. I swear if Wally was there he would bitch slap Nightwing up just because he was too close to his girl. Like look at her. She's straddling him 😩. Obviously their friendship is platonic and I don't ship them I'm just saying this scene was/is hot. Especially how Nightwing wrapped his legs around her neck and threw her to the ground. DO THAT TO ME NIGHTWING BABY! (Eww fucking cringe but u guys get it).

The way Aqualad just punched his gut seemed personal lol. Made him fully hunch down and everything but obviously he was handing him the hand drive but still.

So, let me get this as straight as possible here.

In the FF universe, Numbuh 3 and Numbuh 4 are sent by Numbuh 1 to investigate a new possible KND outpost in the jungle, where a plane crashed, to see if they can built a treehouse there.

When the war starts, Wally LEAVES KUKI ALONE because he wants to go back to Sector V and fight in first line, but as he does, KUKI IS ALMOST KILLED IN A FREAKING FUNSION ATTACK. So Wally returns to the jungle outpost, PROBABLY FEELING LIKE SHIT BECAUSE HE MIGHT THINK IT WAS HIS FAULT KUKI ALMOST DIED BECAUSE HE LEFT HER ALONE.

Somewhere in the story, but something tells me it might happen after the attack because, again, he feels guilty and he almost lost her, he FINALLY decides to reveal his feelings for her.

And Kuki feels the same, but STRAIGHT OUT REJECTS HIM BECAUSE, and I'm using the same words I read, "SHE CAN'T EVEN COMMIT TO A FAVOURITE COLOUR, LET ALONE A RELATIONSHIP".

So the poor boy is stuck in the middle of a forest, with someone who REJECTED HIM, someone who ALMOST DIED BECAUSE OF HIS ACTIONS, someone that he still LIKES and probably LOVES but has to keep a cool face because there's a FUCKING WAR going on and he needs to think about ANYTHING ELSE.

Now I get things: I get why Wally and Kuki are positioned on OPPOSITE SIDES for the outpost, BARELY INTERACT or TALK ABOUT EACH OTHER and why WALLY FEELS SO OFF IN FUSIONFALL LIKE HE'S NOT BEING HIMSELF.

THE POOR BOY HAS A LOT ON HIM AND HE CAN'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT BECAUSE HELLO THERE'S AN INVASION GOING ON GOTTA SAVE EARTH AND STUFF!

I JUST REALLY HOPE THE WRITERS PLANNED SOMETHING LIKE, AT THE END OF THE WAR KUKI REALIZES HE'S REALLY IMPORTANT AND THEY FINALLY GET TOGETHER OR SOMETHING BECAUSE I SWEAR
