Anaxa standing in his kitchen with a furrowed brow, staring at the fridge door as if it’s a puzzle to solve. He opens it and, after a moment of stunned silence, pulls out the carton of milk that’s long past its prime. The smell hits him before he even has a chance to pour it, and he grimaces, quickly pushing the carton back. The bread on the counter isn’t much better—mold has already claimed it as its own.

But then, he spots an old potato, sprouting green shoots. It’s a sad little thing, but somehow, it catches his attention.

He picks it up gently, cradling it like it’s the most precious thing in his life, and after a few moments of contemplation, he stands back and looks at it again, as if deciding that it’s only fitting the potato receives a name.

And of course, he names it after you. There’s a soft chuckle that slips through his normally composed exterior, before he sets it down on the windowsill, adjusting its position to catch the faintest rays of sunlight. The rest of his kitchen—chaotic and neglected—pales in comparison to the reverence he treats this sprouting potato with.

For a moment, he forgets the spoiled milk, the moldy bread, and his lack of sustenance, lost in the odd little ritual he’s created as he steps back and nods at it in satisfaction.
