i’m not very familiar with 70’s manga so i took to 80’s to 90’s OVA adaptations for inspiration

I gatekeep my AUs probably too much and surely i'm allowed to be a little cringe on my art blog, right? ^^;;

I noticed a few people in the tags saying they wanted to know more about this Four Swords AU I doodle a lot so why not share some crumbs in the form of my designs and some relationship dynamics.

I've had this AU since 2012 but honestly it was a just a roleplay thing back then and I barely remember the context besides "The five Links separated and these are their descendants hundreds of years later", which is still the basic premise.

Maybe when I'm feeling braver I'll share a little bit more but for now all I'm going to say is that Shadow and Vio are big advocates of being gay doing crime(maybe a little bit of treason too) and cause so many problems for everyone here!

I went through a period in the spring where I only had an uncomfortably small sketchbook available and simultaneously I was Tormented by art ideas for Asperia and Gortash. I finished very few of these before finally tracking down a new full sized sketchbook, but the small sketchbook is littered with placeholder sketches, thumbnails, and half finished things that I meant to loop back to and am beginning to forget what the hell the vision for was.

This is the most mysterious one. It is on the very edge of a left hand page, with the rest of the page open for iteration and testing and the right hand page opposite still blank, clearly reserved for the final drawing. It has no other associated notes and I don't think I ever shared these thumbnails with anyone who might remember. I assume it's referencing something. I have no idea what. It has been far too long since March(???).

I’ve been drawing Rusl a lot for some reason in my sketchbook dnsnsbsmsbmand he’s a beloved.

Also, I feel like if Shadow ever came back, Leon would struggle a lot with him. I mean he did pretend to be his son, made him believe that his son was killed, kidnapped the princess, the knights, the maidens, and Leon himself, and a lot of things. So it would take a while for him to trust Shadow. But Shadow tried to make up for it so Leon did eventually warm up to him.

Some translations in case you can’t read my handwriting:

Vio: father please… he’s not evil

Leon: I don’t care what he is now, he still did terrible things.

Leon: ugh, I only had to deal with 1 teenager, now I have 5 of you.

Shadow: …5? (He is warmed by this because that means that Leon is beginning to trust him.)

Linebeck: does Rusl ever take that headband off?

Leon: I dunno, probably.

Linebeck: but I’ve never seen him take it off, let alone to wash it.

Leon: he probably has several pairs he swaps out

Linebeck: he probably bathed with it in order to wash it.

Leon: what the hell

Linebeck: hey he’s never taken it off so…

Leon: it’s not like you’ve seen him bathe tho.

Linebeck: oh whatever, maybe he doesn’t sweat so he doesn’t need to wash it. But I say he only has one pair

Reasons why I can't take Meta Knight Seriously:

He is about a foot tall

Dude gets embarrassed about eating parfaits.

His damn airship has his face on it

I think bats are adorable flying rats

He'll fight anything or start one himself

Meta Knight is spherical

Whatever the hell his manga counter part was

He makes puns

Has an edgy version of himself

He is one of the few (maybe only) characters that canonically swears.

Stands on tall things to be tall

Reasons why I CAN take Meta Knight Seriously:

He will kill me for the previously mentioned things above.

He's a cool dude.

At the end of the day, he cares for the well being of his friends, and grown to protect Dream Land.

That wine is tasting like Vio’s catching feelings for the enemy

I absolutely love the fact that as a furry I can use my fursonas to explore feelings and thoughts that I'm not sure if I want to own up to. I was looking through my old sketchbooks and thinking of my little lore for them earlier, and I realized that all I was doing when I made them up was just making parts of me into separate folks and having them interact to work through thought processes I was having internally. Like, my oldest fursona Vio, also named after what I was gonna name myself at first (but their first name was originally based off my deadname), represented who I thought younger me was like in hindsight as I got older, and as I first explored my gender her gender adapted to match. My second, Ice, was mainly an accident, but I ended up making him as a voice of reason for Vio, just like how I was developing a sense of social awareness during that time and was grappling with finding a balance between that and what I wanted to do. And I've been using my newest fursona, BJ, to explore my current gender and therianthropy as well as feelings of how I want to dress and act now that I'm at college. And for a long time I found it weird how I couldn't just have one fursona, but I think that's because how my fursonas interact lets me process my thoughts and come to terms with stuff in a way that expressing things all internally just doesn't. And I think that's stupid cool!!
