Metal Gear Rising is yet another one of my favourites among games, and a while ago I started doing this series in black and red featuring the characters from the game accompanied by their respective songs.

I did Sundowner and Jetstream Sam already as you can see, and I have a WIP of Bladewolf currently.

I try to incorporate the red as symbolism in some kind in the drawings; I'll quote myself from when I originally posted these drawings:

"The inspiration for this one is Sundowner's theme "Red Sun", which outlines his twisted personality and unrelenting bloodlust, all of which is contrasted by language that paints the violence he sees and enables as "something warm and pure". To add to this, the "red sun over paradise" imagery can be interpreted as a sun drenched with blood, and the paradise he is referencing, is one revelling in bloodshed, cruelty and chaos. An ideal world, through his eyes."

"In the Sundowner piece, the red was used to symbolise Red Sun, his theme song, and bloodlust. The red here is used in the blood splatter, which represents Sam's humanity since he has barely any cybernetic enhancements, as well as "bloodshed" in Sam's theme song."

Not sure when I'll be finished with it, but I plan to do all of the Winds of Destruction, Armstrong and Raiden sometime in the future, and that will be a complete series.

I hope one day we can see a sequel to MGRR, I would love a playable backstory for Sam of some sort or other before he got hired by Armstrong.

Another year, another art vs artist meme! Even though I hardly post on this blog nowadays, I still haven't forgotten about y'all despite jumping to other fandoms ^^;;

Speaking of fandoms, this year saw me dive into drawing fanart for God of War: Ragnarok and Sifu (with a smattering of Silmarillion stuff, too)! I look forward to seeing what else I'll draw in the coming year, and whether I'll branch out into other fandoms or not XDD Maybe I'll jump back into the Silmarillion, though I think it's safe to say that my own "golden age" of drawing Silm fanart has passed ^^;;

Nevertheless, I just wanted to thank all of you who have stuck with me for this long! I really appreciate your support 💗💗💗
