Brackean

Brackean is a gender that feels like, feels similar to, or is related to bracken plants.

Etymology

Brack- comes from bracken. The suffix -ean indicates an origin or resemblance.

Brach- seemed more natural to me than brack-. According to Merriam-Webster, brachen is an archaic Scottish variant of bracken.

Brackean was coined on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at 00:12 UTC.

Brackengender, brachean, and brachengender were coined on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 around 4:20 UTC.

Vexillology

The yellow stripe represents the sun.

The blue stripe represents the sky.

The green stripe represents bracken.

The light brown stripe represents bracken roots, stems, and the color of the leaves in autumn.

The dark brown stripe represents seeds and soil.

The darker flag was created on Monday, January 8, 2024 (UTC).

The lighter pastel flag was started on Monday, January 8, 2024 (UTC), and finalized on Friday, January 19, 2024 (UTC).

Both flags were inspired by the male aligned plantgender flags by babysnork on TikTok.

So i know this is super random and different from my usual posts but like it’s my blog and I do whatever I want to here

Here's my redesign of the madscientistgender flag, since the original hurt my eyes a little bit. I'll ramble a bit about it + have some other variants of the flag shown below the read more thingy

(by @/Keterodyne on twitter) So, here's the original flag with each stripe labeled with its meaning (the text wasn't on the original flag I added the text myself)

And here's mine labeled with each stripes meaning.

I wanted it to have similar-ish color symbolism to the original while also having the vibe of "MWAHAHAHA MAD SCIENCE!!!"

Also, i couldn't fit what the white represents on this, but it represents the entire neurodivergent spectrum. the reason I picked white is because when you point a white light through a prism, you get a rainbow, which is often used in both queer and neurodivergent spaces.

The symbol is interchangable, because it represents the type of science that the user of the flag loves most! I just used a biohazard symbol because it looked the best to me.

I've always had a knack for the gay side of vexillology, and I've never really seen any flags or identities dedicated to sex-based orientations. I decided to make some flags myself!

sex-based bisexual (left) + bicyto (right)

Sex-based Bisexual

Any bisexual who bases their attraction on sex rather than gender! The name is self-explanatory

Bicyto

A specific subset of the previous term. Any bisexual who bases their attraction on biological sex rather than genitalia! -cyto was from "cytogenetics", the study of chromosomes and how they affect cells.

Bigyne

Any bisexual who prefers or is exclusively attracted to those of the female sex! Based on the term "gynesexual".

Biandro

Any bisexual who prefers or is exclusively attracted to those of the male sex! Based on the term "androsexual".

Anyone can use these flags or terms to describe themselves! i made these for funsies and this isn't too serious. might make more of these later, who knows...

Redesigned the Michigan state flag in Canva instead of doing homework bc god knows our current one is ugly as hell. The blue represents all our water, the white is for our snowy weather and lake effect that we’re known for, the bridge is the Mackinac Bridge that connects our two peninsulas, and the four stripes are the four Great Lakes that we touch.

Below the read more are a couple color variations

I like the light blue look but a dark blue is more accurate to the actual color of our lakes.

This one adds mint green which is the color of the Mackinac Bridge, and I like how it adds more visual interest. Might be a bit much though, especially with the detailed bridge.

Related to the last two posts on here but this is the flag of the Imperial Federation, which yes is a little idiotic but blame Britain and France if you will for proposing the use of it in our actual timeline. The Imperium, for short, is the main antagonist in my original homebrew setting of Plaxion. For the long name, which is hardly used, is called the “Imperial Federation of Lenuvia and her Allies,” after the founding member of said Imperium.

Lenuvia was formed after the royal union of Theudia (with a French-like pronunciation its more like “Too-dia”) and Drenga at the end of the First Unification War (sometime around the 1650s I.R.). And from the 1700s onwards the realms of Lenuvia expanded to conquer the entirety of Plaxion, becoming the rulers of all of Plaxion up until the Arcadian revolts (1900s I.R.).

I know people talk about using the alternate disability pride flag that isn't zig zags, but for me, a visually disabled person, the alternate/newer one is not accessible for me. If I don't have anything correcting my vision, I can no longer tell what the flag is, and sometimes even when I have things correcting my vision, I cannot tell. The bright colors and unique pattern help me tell what the flag is. Otherwise, it just looks like a mush to me.

I think this goes to show that disabled people have conflicting needs oftentimes. So I am not saying that using the "new" version is wrong, but rather that, I am very tired and exhausted of the narrative that I've seen saying you MUST use the "new" one and that it is better for disabled people to use the new one.
