Y’all I genuinely urge you to stay up to date with world politics.
In my country, Venezuela, elections have just been held and the blatant disrespect that the so called government have for their people is astonishing.
How can they claim that Nicolas Maduro, one of the most hated dictators of our time, won 51%/5+ million votes?
How is it possible that he won when the voting panels have been updating every hour how Edmundo Gonzalez (the opposing candidate) has been winning by TRIPLE the vote?
How is it possible that most of the 7.3 million Venezuelan immigrants can’t vote and have no say in what goes on the country that gave them life?
How is it possible that Venezuelans have to fear for their life in voting stations because the military are set there to prevent them from voting?
How is it possible that the pig that’s called president is currently celebrating his “well-earned” victory?
Countries like Chile and Peru are already making statements that they will not recognize the results given by the CNE (the Venezuelan electoral system)
FREAKING ELON MUSK IS MAKING TWEETS REGARDING THE SITUATION
I think it’s sickening how all people can do is talk about it and not do a single thing about it, especially because as a society we try to condemn any harm to human rights just like how we did Russia, who by the way, is one of the dictatorships biggest supporters.
VENEZUELA HAS BEEN FACING AN HUMANITARIAN CRISIS!!!!
People have been facing literal hell since the late 90s and people in power DO. NOT. CARE.
Educate yourself, educate others, and most importantly TALK ABOUT IT, because I’m certain we’re not the first or the last country to go through this.
This is as much as I’ll say.
I hope they all rot in hell.
🇪

By Lallan Schoenstein
Having lost the election, the opposition immediately began violent attacks to incite terror and confusion. They attacked symbols of the Venezuelan Revolution: schools and health centers in working-class areas, public bus stations and buses, offices of Chavista communes and parties, and statues of figures who had set the Bolivarian Revolution in motion.
Every day since the election, hundreds of thousands of Chavistas have taken to the streets of Caracas and elsewhere. In each of these marches, the chant no volverán – they will not return – reverberated amongst the crowd. The oligarchy, they said, will not return.

Lula's South American summit plan unlikely in tense region, diplomats say
A diplomatic crisis in Ecuador and uncertainty over Venezuela's political future have divided South American nations and killed enthusiasm for a summit that Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is trying to convene, diplomats in the region say.
Seeking to become a regional leader again, Lula gathered 11 presidents in Brazil's capital last May, but the forum called the Brasilia Consensus was struck by disagreement over the presence of Venezuela's authoritarian President Nicolas Maduro.
Chilean President Gabriel Boric, a fellow leftist from a younger generation, criticized Lula for inviting Maduro to a meeting of democratic leaders, as did Uruguayan President Luis Lacalle Pou.
With concerns about Venezuelan elections in July and fallout from Ecuador's invasion of the Mexican embassy to seize an opposition politician, the region is too unsettled for a fresh attempt at dialogue, diplomats in Brazil and Uruguay said.

nicolas maduro: since becoming president of venezuela in 2013 i've overseen more than 20,000 extrajudicial killings and 7 million venezuelans have been displaced
nicolas maduro: the state controls the media and content that makes the government look unfavourable will not be broadcast
nicolas maduro: i'm fully in support of russia's actions in ukraine and have close ties with vladimir putin
nicolas maduro: i rewrote the constitution in 2017 to make it easier to hold onto power for as long as possible, then i called an election early and banned the opposition parties from participating in it
nicolas maduro: this year's election had significant irregularities including censorship of voter information websites and suppression of voter registration leading to millions of venezuelans being unable to cast their vote
nicolas maduro: i announced the results of the election before the votes had been counted and i have refused to release the vote tallies. i definitely won though. the vote count was accurate to within
nicolas maduro: i announced the results of the election before the votes had been counted and i have refused to release proof of the vote tallies
nicolas maduro: the only countries to publicly congratulate me on winning the election are russia, china, cuba, and iran, none of which have free and fair elections
nicolas maduro: the carter center, an independent pro-democracy organisation, have pointed out numerous electoral irregularities and concluded that the voting figures i reported are 'statistically improbable'. they have concluded that they cannot verify the results
nicolas maduro: when other countries in south america asked for confirmation of the election results, i responded by suspending flights and cutting off power to their embassies
nicolas maduro: vote tallies supplied by poll watchers do not match the election result. so i've had a lot of them detained and many have had to flee their homes
nicolas maduro: i'm also cracking down on protesters and encouraging people to use an app to anonymously report protesters to the state. protestors and opposition politicians are being detained and killed and i have assured people that the full force of the law will be used against them
nicolas maduro: the united states, and many other countries, have expressed concern about all of this, and indeed have been expressing concern for several years about me, my policies, and the many ways that my presidency resembles a dictatorship
nicolas maduro: free palestine tho :)
people on this fucking website: the man is a hero! the people have spoken! the usa are trying to stage a coup because they don't like the fair results of a democratic election because the leader that venezuelans have chosen is pro-palestine! daddy maduro says fuck zionists 🥰

🇻🇪 Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro: The Palestinian and Lebanese people are victims of the terrorist genocide waged by the government of the murderer Netanyahu, who reminds us of nothing but Hitler. On behalf of the Historical Bloc of the Revolution, I express my solidarity with the Lebanese people after the announcement of the assassination of the Islamic leader, Sayyed Nasrallah. The orders for this attack were issued from the UN headquarters in New York. The cowards of the world are silent, but no one will silence the rebellious, revolutionary people.

"Just a few minutes ago our national political coordinator, Freddy Superlano, was kidnapped," The Voluntad Popular party wrote on X.
The opposition party called on the international community to denounce the escalation of repression in Venezuela and demanded the publication of electoral results of Sunday’s vote.
Venezuela’s Attorney General Tarek William Saab on Tuesday said 749 "criminals" had been arrested during the protests and faced charges of resisting authority or, "in the most serious cases, terrorism."
Protests by ruling party and opposition supporters are expected to take place in Venezuela on Tuesday in the wake of a disputed election victory by President Nicolas Maduro, with the opposition saying vote tallies show its candidate easily won.
Electoral authorities said on Monday that Maduro had won a third term with 51% of the vote, extending a quarter-century of socialist rule.
But the opposition said the 73% of voting tallies to which it has access showed opposition candidate Edmundo Gonzalez had won an unassailable victory, winning more than twice as many votes as Maduro.
"My dear Venezuelans, tomorrow we meet; as a family, organised, demonstrating the determination we have to make every vote count and defend the truth," opposition leader Maria Corina Machado said in a post on X late on Monday, calling for supporters to march on Tuesday.
Jorge Rodriguez, a ruling party lawmaker and Maduro's campaign manager, urged followers to take part in marches to the Miraflores presidential palace to support the government.
While Gonzalez has warned against violence, Rodriguez accused the opposition of stoking violence.
Speaking on Monday night, Maduro said that his government "knows how to confront this situation and defeat those who are violent," though he also said he supported peace.
Maduro - a 61-year-old former bus driver and foreign minister - took office on president Hugo Chavez's death in 2013 and his 2018 reelection is considered fraudulent by the United States and others, who call him a dictator.
Many Venezuelan voters despaired at news of another six-year term for Maduro, who has presided over an economic collapse, the migration of about a third of the population, and a sharp deterioration in diplomatic relations, crowned by sanctions imposed by the United States, the European Union and others which have crippled an already struggling oil industry.
Governments in Washington and around the world have called for a full tabulation of the votes, while 12 member nations of the Organization of American States are set to meet to discuss the election on Wednesday.
The tallies in possession of the opposition showed a total of 2.75 million votes for Maduro and 6.27 million for his rival, former diplomat Gonzalez, Machado said.
The numbers were sharply different to the 5.15 million votes the electoral authority said Maduro had won, compared to 4.45 million for Gonzalez.
Clashes between protesters and security forces were reported throughout the country on Monday, with tear gas fired to disperse crowds and at least two people killed.
In Coro, capital of Falcon state, protesters tore down a statue of Maduro's late mentor Hugo Chavez.
The Venezuelan Conflict Observatory, an advocacy group, reported more than 180 protests in 20 of the country's 23 states in a post on X.
"Numerous acts of repression and violence carried out by paramilitary collectives and security forces have been reported," it said.

Venezuela sends aid to Cuba in response to Hurricane Rafael

We are preparing a second shipment with additional aid,” Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said, referring to a load of approximately 300 tons that includes supplies, construction materials, and first aid equipment.

Brazil's Lula, Venezuela's Maduro embrace 'new era' in ties
Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro met with leftist Brazilian President Lula ahead of a regional summit in Brasilia. Lula's conservative predecessor, Jair Bolsonaro, had previously banned Maduro from entering Brazil.
Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva met his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolas Maduro on Monday and called out US sanctions against Venezuela as "extremely exaggerated."
Maduro, who is seen as a controversial leader internationally, met Lula on his visit to Brazil. Maduro was greeted by Lula with a hug and back-slap in the presidential palace of Brasilia.
The Venezuelan leader was invited by Lula to attend a South American leaders' summit that will be held on Tuesday to discuss the revival of the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR).
Lula criticized the US for denying legitimacy to Maduro's socialist government, which is viewed by Washington as authoritarian for alleged human rights violations.
Lula chided the US over denial of legitimacy to Maduro's government and the "900 sanctions" Venezuela faces.

And I'm back once again.
I don't know who will read this but I need everyone to know what's going on in my country and Tumblr is quite a nice place for it.
The elections ended with Nicolas Maduro doing fraud. The actual president should be Edmundo.
Since the night of the elections millions of Venezuelans have gone to the streets to protest, there's already some dead people, majority of them are young people; kids, teenagers and young adults; I'm begging here for anyone that read us to please so speak about it! To spread awareness of our situation.
I still have hope that it will end this year. Almost 26 years of dictatorship.
I still have family there, friends, acquaintances, people I've gone to school with, those that I know because of another friend or cuz of a family member, the one lady that used to sell Empanadas close to my mom's small shop, people that would go to my granddad's business to buy bread and juice, so many people there.
I'm anxious, trying to be on Twitter, Tik Tok, any place that will keep me update. Feeling crazy cuz the world around is going like nothing while my country is once again seeing their youngest dying by the ones that promised to protect us.
Is crazy how time works.
In 2017 I was only 18 to 19, seeing how my generation was fighting for our freedom.
Now 2024 and it's me, in my 20s seeing kids of 13 to 18 fighting as well.
I think, with how social media has evolved, there will be a change, because now people can see what's happening because we can share in less than a second a lot of information. That's why I'm here, in Tumblr to ask for people here to talk about Venezuela.
Maduro and Diosdado are asking for blood, the armed forces of the country are with them and they are shooting on sights. My people don't have weapons, only hope and faith.
Maria Corina has been doing everything in the most legal way she can, saying it this way because Maduro has been trying really hard to stop her, creating new stupid laws for it.
In fact, there's a fear they may arrest Maria Corina and Edmundo and probably even killed them.
So once again, please spread awareness of our situation, please don't let anyone tell you those elections weren't a fraud.
Be with and for us, please.
I don't want more kids and people to die in my country

Nicolas Maduro responded to Trump's recent comments claiming that when he left office, Venezuela was on the brink of collapse thanks to the Trump Administration's blockade, sanctions and active measures by the CIA/State Dept.
youtube
"Ex-President of the United States, Donald Trump, declared his crime. A crime against humanity, against the people of Venezuela."
"He declared that the objective of his government and of the aggression and sanctions against Venezuela was to make Venezuelan society collapse so that the Imperialist power of the United States would seize Venezuelan oil, seize Venezuela's wealth."
"As a good lawyer would say, 'by the confession of the parties, there is no need for evidence.' Trump has declared his guilt in crimes against humanity against the noble and peaceful people of Venezuela."

explaining the venezuela situation! it’s kinda dark for corruption shitty government so content warning!
on july 28th, the venezuelan national elections were held—everyone with their hopes up since it meant that the “president” (more of a dictatorship not a democracy) Nicolas Maduro would loose his votes against the opposition. But on the day of their announcement; a fraud was committed as Nicolas Maduro claimed to “win” Now many Venezuelans take the street to protest as the oppressive government is shutting them. Hold account that this has run for more than 20 years, and these protests are historic
if you’re wondering about how can you help: speaking up on social medias and other platforms since there is no contact with the country either in shipping supplies or offline due to electricity and internet being cut off (why? access to the internet will show the true reality, which is what the government wants to avoid!)
(@therealchainsawman account owner wrote this🔥🇻🇪)
Thank you for informing me! That sounds horrible :( I don’t really hear about other countries as much right now, but I prefer to be as aware of others situations as possible :) I Hope you and your family are doing okay 🫶
