i was thinking abt how cardan says that there are so few faerie children that he’s never seen any twinned, which makes me think that maybe the “children” of the gentry aren’t all that young? if faeries really rarely have children, then are those that attended palace school even that young?

wasn’t it stated that faeries of any age attend palace school?

which makes me think, what are the chances of prince cardan and princess nicasia being born around the same time? pretty slim right? but we never get any info on her age. i wonder if she were older? Cardan at one point in his novella worries that balekin would go for nicasia, so either he rly doesn’t care for their age (likely bc jude was young) or nicasia is older?

same with valerian. i mean, what’s to say they aren’t near cardans age range? but that makes it weird that a grown faerie adult may have been preying on not only Jude’s down fall, but preying on her sexually.

and then there’s Locke. we know he’s young, bc of the timelines of his mothers death and all. but how young? how much older was he than the twins?

which makes the palace school lessons weird if they’re all different ages. Do the same subjects just get taught over and over ?

idk i was just thinking abt that lol.

also how the ghost seems young but he seems to be around 100+. like damn. If I’m right and they’re older, then these faeries were really out here bullying a child 😒 lame!

anyway thank you Holly black for making cardan around Jude’s age and not 1000+ 🫶

Is noone gonna talk about the fact that in tcp, in that scene where Jude gets poisoned by the faerie fruit, they see 7 shooting stars and Jude describes that at as dozen deaths. I haven't heard anyone mention that that could have been foreshadowing what was to come later during the coronation as 6 Fae died then (Elowyn, Eldred, Dain, Rhyia, Caelia and Taniot) and also Valerian earlier on which makes 7 deaths like prophecied.

I thought it was really clever, nothing a reader would have really paid attention too.

Remember the scene where Cardan pushed Jude into the river with the Nixies?                                  

When Jude slips and sink and then resurface she said ‘Cardan has one foot in the reeds, as though to get a better look.’ I might be delulu but I don’t think he was tryna get a better look. Man was prolly about to risk his ego and pull her out!!!!!!

The way half the main characters in the cruel prince were at some point attracted to Jude is wild but SO girlboss of her. Like Locke had actual feelings for her, Valerian was lusting over her, I suspect that The Ghost did too for a time, and I don’t even need to say Cardan who was actually disgusted by how often he thought of her back when they had the enemies thing going on. Like no wonder she pissed them off, my girl Jude was KILLING it
