you guys HAVE to take “is dumb” off the end of your username. you have to take “my shit rambles” out of your talking tag. you have to stop apologizing for existing. I get so sad for every url I see like “[name]’s-stupid-reblogs” and every blog I open with a title like “pointless posts” and every opinion post I see tagged something derogatory by op!! speaking as someone whose post tag used to be “makes bad posts.” stop actively putting up roadblocks for yourself!! why do we always say bullying is bad but never when we’re bullying ourselves

as much as i love adam’s character growth as it’s done so well and so naturally, i really hate the trend of constantly victimizing and babying him at the start of the series because we as fans know he gets better, because it can invalidate the other characters experiences, and invalidates adam’s own development.

because adam was pretty shitty at times, and characters did have a right to call him out at the time. blue, gansey, the fox way ladies, all do call him out in different ways in the first two books, that allow him to grow into the person he becomes in the raven king. he very clearly did not want pity, so it’s so weird that fans responses is just to go “poor adam everyone hates him he did nothing wrong 🥺”

yes, he was going through traumatic experiences, and yes, he isn’t a bad person, but that doesn’t mean he gets a free hall pass to be shitty to others, and i think that’s shown super well in the books, that you can make mistakes and still heal. the fact that he maintains close relationships with these people show they all grew and learned.

but constantly viewing him as this perfect person and hating everyone else because “blue was a horrible girlfriend because she was friends with gansey” and “ganseys a horrible friend for calling him out” is such a weird take on the series that is about healing and love and complicated experiences.

Not that what I say matters but I’m annoyed of people saying how sick they are of seeing others’ portrayals of Jude and Cardan being inaccurate when the “inaccuracy” is clearly a sarcastic thing the fandom does. Most people here don’t actually think Cardan is this weak little puppy who’s Jude’s bitch. 99% here do not think Jude is this heartless murderer filled with an unending lust for blood.

People are just joking when they give Cardan and Jude shit like that. Enthusiasm creates hyperbole. Hyperboles create jokes. Such and such
