if you ever want help with your code base for smaller issues like the pronoun system, im sure theres people here (myself included) whod be happy to see if we can work something out.

Thank you for the offer but currently im not comfertable asking people for favours, especially people i don't know. My partner is into coding and she is a lot better at figuring things out than I am so ill try with her first and see what she can do if i just can't figure it out. Someone did send me a thing to look at for it but i havnt had time to look yet so it might be easier than i thought we will see~

Hi I just wanted to say that I’m just really happy there’s such a range of pronouns in your game in the first place:) thank you for working so hard AND for working so hard trying to work out the combination issue, my ex used to code and tried to show me once and it was so incredibly confusing and just what you’re already doing seems so complex so! Idk I just wanted to say thank you for trying and I’m so excited for everything to come with the game and story !

Coding is so weird, i have managed to break the entire game cause i changed 1 title ☠️ but also was hootin and hollering cause i finally got a box in the right place

Dunno how the dialogue of your game is set up code wise in your game but you could probably just use rng to randomly pick which of the available pronouns to use out of an array.

If you wanted you could probably make it so the player inputs their own pronouns with seperate input sections per grammatical case in settings, so itd generare one array of custom pronouns per grammatical case the length of which depends on how many pronouns the player actually put in, and you just have to make the rng pick a random pronoun out of the pronoun set of the correct grammatical case at the appropriate point in the dialogue.

re: programming pronouns -the game called I Was A Teenage Exocolonist has options for different pronoun scenarios in their settings. The player can choose how the game refers to the player's character in different contexts.

I was delighted by the depth of options there.

Looking up that game apparently they used C# which is a very complicated and in depth program (my partner is currently trying to learn it and jesus christ) and it isn't the program i'm using to make Gravehearts. They also have a team of 8 people working on the game, I just have me and I am not a professional coder in anyway shape or form, renpy is very helpful and a lot easier to use though so i can pick it up!

So things like that I would love to do, and someone has sent me a link on how to possibly do it, but if I can't then unfortunatly I just can't. Like i said the whole game is a team of just me I will do my best but I can only do so much

Will you be adding other pronoun options for Gravehearts in the future? I don't know how complicated the process would be so I think it's fine if you can't (especially with how many possible pronoun/neopronoun combos there are) but I was wondering about if it'd be possible for us to at least select things like He/They?

I would really like to! But I don't really know how to when it comes to coding it, cause the code has to call the pronoun that it's looking for, so it would always make it the same one in context, so if you go by he/they, and the pronouns are "He, them, his." then you will only be called 'he' if it was like "he did this" I couldn't make it "they did this" if that makes sense. Cause it is always going to choose one. Though that is just as far as my knowledge goes on being able to do it, if anybody does know a way for renpy to be able to mix pronouns where it can just go between like "they, them" and "he, his" then please let me know <3

I've played the gravehearts demo and was pleasantly surprised with the illustrations! Reminds me of countryside areas in the UK, it's nice. Also the contrast between modern day tech with the old looking wooden house and cemetary really got me, it felt strange in a cosy way. I really like small contrasts like these, I bet you could play with that aspect a bit, but I don't want to get ahead of myself. Overall, a very nice experience, I'd love to see more!

By the way I freed the cat (whoopsies).

Yes its actually based on the scottish highlands! And the house is supposed to kind of feel like visiting your grandparents house, cosy but a little dated! The idea is very much to be cosy and cute but also a lil spooky, then also continue to have slightly older technoligy cause their is just something more warm about it!

Just as a heads up, there's a typo in one of the scenes when going outside after being in the basement, when catching one's breath again (i think it was a "your" instead of "you"). I misplaced the screenshot but i remember it being there and you asking to be notified on any typos 🙈
