Success for Aston Martin at the Spa 24 Hours courtesy of Comtoyou Racing! The British marque hadn't won the Belgian classic since 1948, and hadn't won a 24-hour race outright since 1959, which was the year the legendary Carroll Shelby won Le Mans with Roy Salvadori in a DBR1 (pictured above at Le Mans Classic in 2018).

Aston Martin have had success at Le Mans since, winning the GT class four times with the Prodrive-built DBR9 and Vantage GTE (pictured above at Le Mans in 2013, a tragic event for the team as Aston driver Allan Simonsen driver died in an accident early in the race). But in the races where GT3 cars are the headline, they have typically struggled to beat the powerhouse brands from Germany and Italy. #1 is easy that’s this:

1967 Chevrolet Impala SS 427 Coupe.

Manual, A/C, buckets, console, no vinyl top. Absolute dream car. Almost singlehandedly makes Matthew 6:19 my least favorite Bible verse. My materialistic heart is making all sorts of grabby-hands gestures.

After that it’s less clear, there’s a lot of neat cars out there. So here’s four of my favorites:

Porsche Cayman GT4 (RS)

The Cayman is not the most shockingly gorgeous exotic sports car around, but I think it’s very tastefully not-overstyled, and it’s supposedly one of the best driver’s cars at any price. I like it better than the 911, and in GT4 trim it has incredible performance. I’m torn between the standard GT4 and the RS version, because the RS has the amazing, long-awaited 9000rpm 500hp 4.0L flat-six from the 911 GT3, but it’s also a bit too track-focused (ie stiff and uncomfortable) for my tastes. Also the RS doesn’t have a manual, which is lame.

The Aston Martin Rapide is a favorite of mine. This era of Aston is just gorgeous, though on the Rapide they messed up the styling after the first version. They should have given it the DBS grill and bumper. It’s not as popular as the coupes but to me there’s just something about a gorgeous four door hatchback that’s RWD with a big V12 under the hood. I want to get one someday and swap in the 7sp dogleg manual from the Vantage S.

Another V12 car, the BMW 850csi. I’ll never forget the first time I saw an 8-series parked outside the JW church across the street from school. Definitely one of the coolest cars of the 90s. And it’s manual.

What’s next? You guessed it, another V12 car.

The Gordon Murray Automotive t.50

The styling is… just okay. It’s an MR2 Spyder at 11/10. But the mechanicals are incredible. Three seats, in a delta format. A 3.9L 654hp 12,100rpm V12 with electric assist. A manual transmission. 2174lb curb weight. A fan that sucks air into the rear diffuser for more downforce with less drag.

Carros que poderiam estar na GT Series Cup em 2025

Na categoria em 2024 foi pela primeira vez correndo e valendo pontos diferente de 2023 que foi uma temporada para introdução da categoria e para criar um grid perto de 12 carros em GT3, GT3 Light, GT4, GT4 Light , em 2024 , a maior parte dos carros foram da Mercedes tanto na GT3 e GT4 ( na GT4 por influencia da AMG Cup Brasil e os promotores serem parceiros) e na GT3 chegou a chegar a ter duas Lamborghini da serie Super Trofeu recém chegadas ao Brasil que uma chegou a correr na corrida 1 do Velocitta na GT3 , na etapa final em Interlagos nenhuma delas esteve no grid por terem batido em um track day na quinta feira de véspera e uma delas e perda total (modelo Huracan Super Trofeu EVO) e a mais recente (modelo Huracan EVO II) quebrou principalmente mais a parte traseira do carro por causa de um pneu furado no final da reta a 272 KM\h , provavelmente vai ter concerto á questão é mais as peçãs chegarem do exterior.

Ferrari

Modelos da marca no Brasil são atualmente a 488 GT3 , 458 Italia e 430 Scuderia GT3 , a 488 GT3 da Via Italia Racing que disputou a temporada de 2019 do Endurance Brasil, a 458 Italia GT3 da equipe Sul Racing que competia no Endurance Brasil até 2022, a 430 Scuderia GT3 que esteve na ultima etapa do campeonato Gaucho de Endurance na categoria GT1 com Gustavo Mandelli. Isso que a Grid Racing Team que prepara a maioria dos Mercedes AMG GT4 da AMG Cup Brasil e CLA AMG Cup e os Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeu Evo I e II e promotor já deram um spoiler que terão carros da marca Italiana em breve.

Dodge

O Dodge do André Carrilo que competiu no Endurance Brasil na categoria GT4 , que também esteve no grid dos 500 KM de Interlagos com o Challenge Hell Cat que na verdade era um Stock Car com a bolha da Dodge.

Ginetta

A Ginetta G55 GT4 que esteve no grid do Endurance Brasil até 2022 , e que ganhou as 1000 Milhas do Brasil em 2020.

BMW M4 GT3

BMW M4 GT3 da Pole Motorsport que estava no grid do Endurance Brasil em 2023 na categoria GT3, que ganhou a etapa de Cascavel. Deve voltar ao grid em 2025 inclusive.

 Porsche Cayman GT4

O modelo GT4 que corre na Sttugart Motorsport que terá mais duas unidades no Brasil em 2025 no grid do Endurance Brasil poderia estar no grid também da GT Series Cup BR.

Ford Mustang

O Mustang do Sandro Tanuri que compete em Track Days , baseado em um modelo de rua , que esteve na recém extinta Open Paulista , que esteve na edição de dezembro do Road To 1000 Milhas , poderia estar na GT4.

BMW M2 CS Racing

A BMW M2 CS Racing da Eurobike originalmente de uma categoria monomarca da marca Alemã que competiu no Endurance Brasil na GT4 entre 2022 e 2023 e as 1000 milhas do Brasil em 2023, em parceria com a MC Tubarão eles estão até desenvolvendo a nova M2 CS .

Audi R8 4.2 V8

O Audi R8 V8 que competiu a temporada de 2021 do Endurance Brasil na GT4 Light dos irmão Wagner e Fabio Ibrahim poderia voltar as pistas e correr na GT4 ou GT4 Light

Astom Martin V12 Vantage GT3

o Aston Martin Vantage GT3 com motor V12 que competiu desde 2018 a 2021 no Endurance Brasil com Sergio e Guilherme Ribas na GT3 Light .

Mclaren 720s GT3

A Mclaren 720s GT3 que competiu no Endurance Brasil de 2021 a 2023 , poderia voltar as pistas nessa categoria.
