The Orlop
Large merchant ships with a fixed deck are documented as early as the 13th century. This deck was called an averlop or overloop. In the course of the 17th and 18th centuries, the height of the deck in relation to the waterline changed. Until then, it was not only the lowest deck in general, but also the lowest gun deck. Below this began the so-called space, which could be divided by planking or could also have a light and therefore watertight deck. The overlop could be covered by a canopy. It is not clear from the sources whether this deck was given its own name. The term ‘Verdeck’ also generally refers to a deck and Dutch sources usually only contain descriptive lists of decks. In German usage in the 17th century, there is also no evidence of a distinction between decks by name. In Hamburg in 1685, all decks were described as overlop (‘overflow’). In Röding's dictionary of 1798, overlop is translated as overflow and generally as deck. In contrast, the English orlop is translated in the same work as Kuhbrücke ( cow bridge - where the cattle were housed) under the lowest deck.

The orlop deck was used as an ideal storage area and at the same time as a recreation room for some of the ship's crew. As the deck did not have to be cleared or remodelled during combat operations, cabins and rooms located here were permanent and could even be locked. The purser could therefore store his valuable or dangerous items (small arms) here, and the surgeon his medical items (medicines, instruments), so that they were protected from unauthorised access. As the deck was below the waterline, it was one of the safest places on board during a battle. For this reason, the ship's surgeon often had his workshop down there, as he could do his work unhindered by the fighting and the wounded were brought to him on the orlop deck.

Until the end (Doflamingo x F!Reader) - 𝓒𝓱𝓪𝓹𝓽𝓮𝓻 1
Chapter 2

The gentle breeze stroked (Y/N)'s face as she stood on the ship's deck; the sun hitting her soft skin and leaving a nice warm feeling on it. She wasn't a pirate nor a criminal of any sort, she was a traveler.
Her journey started from Pyua, the island she was born on, it wasn't that vast, and it mostly was a touristic island where people went during the holiday to unwind from their boring work life. Even pirates went there just to take a break and rest, before leaving for their next adventure; hearing them speak about the things they had seen and fought made (Y/N)'s heartbeat go faster, that's one of the reasons she decided to leave and start a solo journey.
That morning she was heading for one of the milestones of pirates, the Sabaody Archipelago. She heard so many stories about it and its weird bubbles that came up from the ground and went all the way up into the sky, before popping; (Y/N) was ready to visit such a unique island, she studied the map the staff gave her when she boarded and marked the areas she wanted to avoid if possible, aka the Lawless zone from Grove 1 to Grove 29. If she ended up there, she could protect herself, I mean what kind of idiot would go travelling alone without knowing how to fight? Especially in some islands where you could easily be abducted and sold as a slave.
«Ladies and gentlemen, we're about to land on the Sabaody Archipelago, you'll be able to see the different zones this amazing archipelago is divided into. As you can see the area from Grove 1 to Grove 29 is marked in red, we recommend you don't go there unless you're looking for trouble», the captain went on, talking about some curious facts about the archipelago.
(Y/N) was getting excited she could hardly contain herself, once she set foot on the ground, she looked up and saw a curtain of big bubbles on top of the mangroves.
"This will be amazing, I can't wait to see it all", with a bounce in her steps she went to her first destination.
Exploring and learning was fun, but it was even better with a full stomach. (Y/N) decided to stop at a court food inside the mall, there were many options, but she was looking for something to eat on the go; after spending almost half an hour deciding what to get, she stuck with a simple hamburger and a soda. Not the healthiest choice, but she could eat it while walking around.
She was in awe at almost everything she saw; it was amazing how the people living there used the bubbles to build houses, to make transportation devices, to coat ships so they could go underwater. After finishing her lunch, (Y/N) found a place to stop and write everything down, she was also looking for a place to develop the pictures she took.
"Is that...", speeding up she found herself at the entrance of a Luna Park, "Woah! It's incredible!".
Seeing all those lights and hearing all those sounds of joy made (Y/N)'s brain overload, she stood still with a grin on her face as she kept moving her head taking in as much as she could. She took a picture before deciding to have some fun; the rollercoaster was first, then the haunted house followed by the log ride, then to relax a bit she rode the carousel, leaving the Ferris Wheel for last.
(Y/N) was waiting in line, she felt a little out of place as she stepped on one of the cabins alone. Everybody else had a group of friends, a partner or a family member to go with.
She took a few pictures of the panorama when she was at the highest point of the ride, it went slowly so it was easy to take good photos.
"Mom, dad, I wish you could see it too", pushing back tears she got off and sat on a bench to write in her journal.
(Y/N) was enjoying the lively atmosphere of the park when a little girl running in front of her tripped, she started weeping as soon as she pushed her face off the ground. (Y/N) being a good person, immediately went up to her with a worried expression on her face.
«Are you alright, sweetheart?», picking the little girl up and letting her sit on the bench, she looked at the scraped bleeding knees of the girl.
«There, there, don't cry. It's going to be alright, where are your parents?», offering her a lollipop, (Y/N) carefully disinfected the wounds and bandaged them.
«They should be around here, I got lost so I started running to look for my family», the little girl calmed down as she sucked on the sweet.
(Y/N) looked around, no one seemed to have noticed the tripping child nor the fact that she was hurt.
«I can help you find your family», she made sure the bandages were secured.
The girl gave a big smile and chuckled, before thanking her.
«I'm Baby 5, what's your name?», the little girl said before taking her hand.
«I'm (Y/N)», thinking nothing of the girl's weird name, she simply answered.
At some point, Baby 5's legs got tired so (Y/N) started carrying her on her shoulders, which gave the little girl a better view of the park. During their walk together, they started talking and asking each other questions. Apparently Baby 5 wanted to know her better and declared they were friends now; (Y/N) laughed at that statement but assured the girl they were.
"Children, they think everyone who is kind to them is their friend", she thought while Baby 5 kept talking about each of her family members.
«I see them! Over there!», Baby 5 shouted, pointing at a slim lady with a short, dark pink dress, a set of garters on her left leg, and a coat draped on her shoulders. Beside her two children, one with a large physique and buckteeth, the other was smaller with pale skin and dark hair.
(Y/N) felt almost intimidated by the lady, but she gathered up her courage and walked up to her.
«Giolla-san! I'm here!», Baby 5 ran up to her as soon as (Y/N) put her to the ground.
The lady turned around and hugged the little girl, sending a thankful look towards (Y/N).
«Giolla, she's my friend, (Y/N). She was very kind, you know? My knees were scraped and bleeding, but she bandaged them», she pointed to her knees.
(Y/N)'s face was starting to change colour, becoming redder by the second. Then Baby 5 turned back to her, introducing her to the other two children: Buffalo and Law.
«Thank you for helping, Baby 5», Giolla beamed.
«It was nothing, I just...», she cleared her throat, «I must go now. It was nice meeting all of you».
She bowed and turned around, ready to leave that awkward situation.
«Aww, don't leave, please», Baby 5 laced herself on her leg, making (Y/N) lose her balance for a second.
«You have to go back home, little one, with your family. I can't stay with you», she tried to gently pull her off her leg.
However, Baby 5 was adamant about her staying, she gripped her leg tighter. It looked like a scene out of a cartoon, Baby 5 attached to (Y/N)'s leg as she was trying to find a way to gently rip her off it, while sweating like crazy because she didn't want to hurt the girl or make the lady angry.
«Oh, are we playing piling?», Buffalo misinterpreted the situation.
(Y/N)'s eyes widened as her lungs got crushed by the larger kid. And there she was, lying on the ground, a child on her leg and one on her stomach, both laughing, finding the situation hilarious; while (Y/N) was crying on the inside, asking herself why she didn't run off as soon as she noticed Baby 5 coming for her leg.
«What's happening here?», a shadow loomed over the pile of bodies.
Giolla greeted the man, calling him 'Young master' or something like that.
«We are playing», Buffalo exclaimed, followed by the two children laughs.
(Y/N) was there, praying for someone to just free her from that situation. Limiting herself to study the funny looking man: tall, extremely tall, tanned, a ridiculous pink feathered coat, sunglasses, a weird walk and a grin that showed his pearly white teeth.
"He looks familiar", she would read newspapers and look at wanted posters rarely, that's why he didn't recognize him at first.
«This is my friend, (Y/N)», Baby 5 pointed out.
«It's a pleasure to meet you, sir», she responded with a strangled voice, since her lungs were still being crushed under Buffalo.
The children finally got off her, she took a deep breath, coughing a bit.
«Sorry», the children mumbled.
«Heh, it's ok», she smiled.
She had a sensation in the pit of her stomach, you know, when something that will change your life is about to happen. That's what she was feeling.
«You're good with kids, I see», the foxy laugh of the Warlord made her skin crawl.
«I suppose, sir», she was ready to die right there was an understatement.
(Y/N) was ready to die, go to hell and be reborn.
«Do you have a job now?», he was eying her, she could feel it even if he had sunglasses on.
«No, sir, I left home some years ago to travel», her heart was ready to explode, and her legs were about to give up.
«Well», he circled around her, «Looks like you don't have much on you, your clothes are old, dirty and ruined».
She felt like a prey under the gaze of a feral hunter.
«Come work for me, we need someone to care for the children, they cause troubles sometimes», he offered as he let out another short laugh.
«Pleaseeee, say yes», Baby 5 was looking at her with big pleading eyes.
(Y/N) was ready to pass out, she was scared that Doflamingo would kill her if she turned down his offer.
«I accept your offer, thank you», her stomach turned as Doflamingo's smile widened, if that was even possible.

spoilers for the game btw:
I'm sorry I just can't unthink a scenario where sans is tasked to kill the anomaly cuz they will end the world.
but by killing them the world resets and ends, by sparing them it also ends, there's also the option of letting them out but that's a true reset...
all in all? I think he'd say fuck you to all three options and like... hang out.
like, just casually take a nap in the dungeon while talking to the anomaly.
the guy's too lazy to do anything 😭
and the greater collective consciousness of the player's routes would probably still linger. while the vessel is just salty he's being a troll.
he's not gonna fall for it lmao. he's just going like, abandon all logic and just defy physics as he does, going out of bounds to bring them a hamburger. or like... carry their heart in a safely contained space vacuum. around in a vessel that... maybe WON'T end the world when they escape containment...
he KNOWS how to manipulate the anomaly too.
it's a loop but I think he's going to stay calm and instead of blaming the narrator or the anomaly just... look for a solution with them. a compromise.
he knows how they tick. if he makes an interesting world or story, the anomaly will be curious and let the world live.
all in all, I think sans would even use the anomaly to his advantage. get a desired outcome. try risking for something.
maybe challenge them to reset. make bets.
he knows you're not a demon. he knows you're not an angel. just a chaotic entity who searches for more pieces and braches of the world and it's outcomes.
a timeline hopping explorer or a destroyer of worlds... when you're entire existence is based of a flimsy desire to be or not to be flickering between the two states I don't think sans would actually care.
he'd do what he can to preserve the world but SAVE it? that ain't his responsibility. it's yours.
also I keep imagining the skelly with an elderich horror monster 100 handed doll figure just casually sitting next to each other eating ice cream.
now to the slay the princess game itself!
anyways. I love these ships.
the princess does make a connection to us the player. she thinks we are similar. and we are! both even have the same motives in fact. she just... has more terrifying features with her vessel. ours is just a faceless blob of grey matter... so maybe we're both kinda creepy???

also dust would yeet the princess into the void...
and player would probably get stabbed by the heros blade with a smug grin to show off they're also cursed with reset powers.

Tusk-a-looser
As the Azure Dragon circled the deck of the Ariadnan mega-freighter, roiling smoke clouds revealed that someone had deliberately re-ignited the engine fires that had been carefully extinguished on the Durian Inspector’s last visit to the Agile Chipmunk. Even the Pan Oceanian forces had seemed to want the fires out, so it seemed some other crisis actor must want to reverse our work, fanning the flames and pushing the fecund Hypatian Megalobsters back into a breeding frenzy. The optical system’s of Yue Fei’s visor let him scan for clues amongst the cargo strewn across the deck, even through the thick smoke clouds. Adult lobsters were still present in their hundreds and fresh smears of white eggs were plastered near the engine fires, continuing to hatch small, slimy, lobster larvae in the heat.
They weren’t the only local fauna in evidence, two blubbery Hypatian Walruses had managed to get onto the ship and were greedily gulping down lobsters, larvae and clumps of eggs as fast as they could. Despite the huge amounts the walruses could eat, it looked like there were now so many lobsters it would hardly made a difference.

Where the young lobsters could find food they were already growing fast. The side of a shipping container marked with a cartoon hamburger had been torn open somehow and the floor inside was a writhing mass of orange shells, claws and legs amongst empty food packaging.
Elsewhere on the deck, what appeared to be the skeleton of a huge bear had been picked completely clean. Dirty white bones propped up a few armor plates, twitching creepily as two adolescent lobsters almost a foot long tried to untangle themselves from shreds of bloodied camo fatigues. The Ariadnans had been here, for sure, but crazy as they were they wouldn’t want to destroy their own ship. Then, as he scanned over to the far side of the huge ship, he spotted something. The giant, hulking silhouette of an old model Maghariba Guard TAG was jutting out behind a tower. Strange — Haqqislam command had assured him they wouldn’t be anywhere near Dock #619. A couple of Brawler lookouts on a nearby building provided the answer: these were mercenaries. Dahshat Company most likely, and almost certainly one of the groups on Brutus’s payroll. If anyone was going to start fires and profit from the chaos rather than put them out, it was these guys.

Dahshat brought some very heavy armament with formidable visor-equipped shooting power in the form of the Brawler link and Rui Shi. Fiddler looked more than capable of zooming into the midfield and causing trouble with the engines. The tendency for retired Invincible Army units to freelance as mercenaries is disturbing, though it is official policy of the ISS to always track down and cancel their military pensions if they���re caught fighting against us. Bad news for this Hulang, almost certainly.

Invincible Army liason Daoying Li handled a quick debarkation of the Yu Jing forces onto the ship. Crossing the Agile Chipmunk and getting through the smoke to the fires had proved that sniper rifles and multispectral visors were a winning combination, so every mercenary sniper in the DIU’s books had been packed into this task force.

The DIU’s new Su Jian was sent to escort Krit and keep walruses off his back as he put out the fires. Le Muet and Knauf staked out a building on the right flank with some long firelanes across the battlefield and Lunah concealed herself close to a Long Ya, trying her best to look like a mine. A Haidao took the left flank, keeping an eye through the smoke on a Rui Shi, which would obviously cause trouble if it could close to an effective Spitfire range.
[Dahshat chose first turn. Yu Jing set up four snipers, three of them threading angles across the table to force them to be dealt with before putting out engine fires. Knauf was kept prone for now.]

He doesn’t talk much, but 5% of the time, Le Muet earns 1000% of his fee, and this was one of those days. The engagement opened with the Brawler sniper lining up a shot against him. He calmly responded by putting an explosive Double Action round right between their eyes. [“Game got hard”, commented Dahshat’s general.]

The unexpected death of the Brawler Sniper threw the Dahshat plans into some disarray. Le Muet commanded a long firelane across the table and could prevent Fiddler and the Hulang from making it forward to their objectives. A Ghulam fired some smoke grenades to cover off a Long Ya’s sightline, then with a clunking gait, the crablike form of the Maghariba Guard started to cross the table, confident that it could survive some shooting from Le Muet while getting to an angle to engage the Haidao.

[Moving the Maghariba seemed reasonable, but the “mine” in front of the central Long Ya was actually another sniper...] The Maghariba hadn’t reckoned on a second visor sniper - Lunah revealed herself and damaged it with a viral shot.The crab tank was now effectively pinned down between two master snipers and unable to effectively shoot back through the smoke.

Trying to find a way to unlock the deadly sniper overwatch, the Evo Pangguling set Assisted Fire on the Rui Shi and it stepped out to engage the Haidao at bad range. The first shot was reasonably lucky, putting a wound on the Haidao.

Breaking cover to get to closer range turned out to be another unlucky move though, as the Haidao made his second shot and knocked the Rui Shi out of action. The Maghariba pulled back to cover and Lunah damaged it again. Valerya shot a pitcher into the backfield and Fiddler repositioned. [The game had been hard with the Brawler gone, but with the Rui Shi down and the Maghariba pinned in place, it was looking pretty impossible. To make matters worse, the Rui Shi’s unconscious body blocked the path forwards for the Maghariba. The Maghariba had one STR remaining and couldn’t get to a spot out of LoF of the snipers. MSV snipers also covered all the alleys for enginees to get to the TAG. First turn passed to Yu Jing.]

Le Muet quickly garnished his reputation by wrecking the Maghariba Guard through the smoke, putting it well past the point where an engineer could repair it. Listening carefully to Daoying Li, Krit and the Su Jian ran out bravely in front of the Walruses and extinguished two of the fires.

The Su Jian found a nice angle to fire a Panzerfaust into Valerya Gromoz and made sure the Rui Shi was not going to get repaired, then the two of them ran back to a fairly safe spot behind the sniper curtain. Knauf decided there weren’t enough long range threats to cower prone and took up position on the roof of Le Muet’s tower. [Yu Jing turn one ended in a stupidly strong position, with 4 snipers and two Long Ya criss crossing the table with AROs and all the Dahshat snipers and hmgs dead. 3 points were locked in for the mission.]

Dahshat thought out an impressive sequence of hail mary saves, then started working through them one by one. One of the diggers ran forward impetuously and was extremely lucky to survive a critical hit from the Su Jian’s last panzerfaust shot. Miranda Ashcroft decided to catwalk through Knauf’s line of fire, and got shot for her fashion choices. Probably not for the first time. The Rafiq then spent quite some time lining up a triangulated fire shot at extreme range on one of the Long Ya remotes only for both of them to find out that it was over the maximum range on their weapons. Realizing the Long Ya didn’t have it pinned down gave the Rafiq a chance to reposition and shoot at the Su Jian, which was armored heavily enough not to care and simply repositioned out of sight. [Dahshat weren’t able to turn the tables back much in turn 2]

[Yu Jing turn 2] The Haidao moved forwards and shot a Ghulam and the EVO Pangguling, then got a line to put a wound on the rogue Hulang. Unfortunately, that last rather aggressive positioning put him in the line of fire of Fiddler’s two jackbots, who managed to gun him down. A Kuang Shi moved up and knocked out the Rafiq. The Shang Ji set up in suppressive fire, to make approaching the Yu Jing console almost impossible. [Dahshat turn 3] Without many options to get to the Yu Jing console, Fiddler made her way forwards, carefully, and dodged through fire onto the Dahshat console. The Hulang killed the Kuang Shi threatening it and fiddler repaired the Rafiq.

Lunah and Knauf were able to shoot Fiddler off the Dahshat console and Krit had a brief conversation with a High Value Target. Victory went to Yu Jing, and Le Muet received a hefty performance related bonus. My Liu Xing dropped into my own deployment zone. [Le Muet’s unreasonable good luck at the start of this game put it on a very unequal footing that snowballed fast. IceCream is a fantastic general though, hanging in there and attempting to wring everything out of her models to stop me from scoring. We both think the mission would be more fun if the exclusion zone was a lot smaller, it pretty much cripples the normal midfield game and reduces options for countering snipers]

The Agile Chipmunk once more under Yu Jing control, Hsien Yue Fei took a moment to inspect the surly Hypatian Walruses. It seemed prudent to leave them to consume as many young lobsters as they could manage, with a little luck they could limit the numbers that spread to the rest of the straits.

National Double Cheeseburger Day
Easily one of the best comments in the history of mankind, a proper lauding of the combination of perfectly seasoned hamburger topped with rich and creamy cheese. And then making it into a double cheeseburger takes it to the extreme.
Of course, if there’s one thing that most people have learned it’s that there’s no such thing as too much of a good thing. That’s why National Double Cheeseburger Day exists. Because some bright individual decided that the only thing better than a cheeseburger would be making it into a double cheeseburger!
For anyone who has ever needed an excuse to enjoy one (and honestly, most people don’t) this is it! Happy National Double Cheeseburger Day!
History of National Double Cheeseburger Day
National Double Cheeseburger Day was made to celebrate the birth of the double cheeseburger, and by extension the cheeseburger itself.
While it may seem the most natural thing in the world to add cheese to a hamburger these days, originally a hamburger was a very simple affair. Simply meat, bread and condiments were pretty much all that a hamburger had going for it.
The first person who is said to have created the cheeseburger was Lionel Sternberger in Pasadena, California. The story goes that Lionel created it while working at his father’s sandwich shop in 1926 when he was only 16 years old. A sizzling piece of hamburger seemed to be just begging for something a little extra, and so a piece of cheese was added to see what came out.
What came out, obviously, was magic. It wasn’t long before someone realized that a single sizzling patty of hamburger topped with melting cheese wasn’t the best thing in life, not when you could have two sizzling patties of hamburger topped with melting cheese!
The birth of the double cheeseburger was as inevitable as the cheeseburger itself, and National Double Cheeseburger Day celebrates it all!

Life is too short to miss out on the beautiful things, like a double cheeseburger.

Bibby Stockholm. The ship was built in 1976 and was converted into an accommodation barge in 1992. From 1994 to 1998, it was used to house the homeless, including some asylum seekers, in Hamburg, Germany. In 2005, it began to be used by the Netherlands to detain asylum seekers in Rotterdam. Two detainees died there because of lack of adequate health care.
The vessel which was originally designed to house around 250 people is expected to ultimately house 500 asylum seekers. The plan is for the barge to stay in the port for at least 18 months, containing 506 asylum seekers whose asylum claims are already being considered by the government. The British government says it has plans for two more barges, though it is unclear where they will be docked.

You can also modify our ship by changing colors. Along the way, we can also collect various kinds of colorful gifts that allow us to change our weapons. The game is free on a free-to-play basis. The "Boss String" is used in the bonus video. During my exploration of one of the planets, I found a mission that contains levels only fighting various types of bosses.
