Let's go up on the roof. At night the stars they put on a show for free and, darling, you can share it all with me

On the roof, it's peaceful as can be And there the world below can't bother me
New Yorkers seek out the roof for fresh air (well, air), solitude, and relaxation. This is on Delancey Street in 1950.

The reluctant chimney sweep
I’ll be the first to admit that the roof of a two-story house is no sensible place for a man of advanced maturity - a man whose chalky bones may not heal in the time he has left on earth, even if he survived the fall.
Let us review the reasons for what some may call madness, but what I call necessity: a) The flue for my wood stove - in constant use for seven months as our main source of heat - must be cleaned once a year to avoid chimney fires and, b) Nobody else will do it.
I just can’t seem to get a professional sweep interested in the job. I don’t know why. For an under-50 non-acrophobic, it wouldn’t tale that great an effort.

Right smack-dab in the middle of town, I found a paradise that’s trouble-proof. And if this world starts getting you down, There’s room enough for two up on the roof.

“BoJack, when you get sad, you run straight ahead, and you keep running forward, no matter what... Don't you ever stop running and don't you ever look behind you... All that exists is what's ahead.”

“I liked it too.”
“Doesn’t mean it couldn’t improve with practice, though ...”
“... I see what you mean.”
“So what do you think: should we move downstairs?”
“What for? I’m comfortable up here.”
“Aren’t you the one who said it was cold and dark and scary up here?”
“Maybe I changed my mind.”
“Or maybe that was another lame excuse.”
“You’re talking too much again ...”
“... Well, feel free to keep interrupting me.”
If you’re enjoying my short stories, please consider picking up a copy of my collection, Unlikely Muses. You can get the paperback directly from me in my Etsy shop (autographed if you want!), or pick it up in the Kindle store. Also, check out my author website or find me on Goodreads!

I love when the moon and the sun are out simultaneously.
It's a perfect night here in New York City. The time is now 8:50 and daylight is still not giving up.
2 days until The Summer Solstice here in New York City.
Now is the time to stop by.
Endless summer nights in the city are for making memories.
Stop by soon.
